Why Is Access Running A Query 2 Time's Before It Get's Results
Sep 28, 2005
Good morning,
I am having some kind of problem. A query in Acces that is used to find results in the DB is asking 2 time's te input.
And there is no way that the input boxes is asking to do this twice..
here is the Query,
SELECT tblHotlines.Hotlinenummer, tblHotlines.Vestigingsnummer, tblDealers.Postcode, tblHotlines.Datum_hotline, tblBestellingen.Chassisnummer, tblBestellingen.Onderdeelnummer, tblBestellingen.[Uitleverings datum], tblBestellingen.[Vervangende auto ingezet?]
FROM (tblHotlines LEFT JOIN tblBestellingen ON tblHotlines.Hotlinenummer = tblBestellingen.Hotlinenummer) LEFT JOIN tblDealers ON tblHotlines.Vestigingsnummer = tblDealers.Vestigingsnummer
WHERE (((tblHotlines.Vestigingsnummer) Like [Geef het vestigingsnummer op] & "*") AND ((tblDealers.Postcode) Like [geef evt een gedeelte van de postcode:] & "*") AND ((tblHotlines.Datum_hotline) Like [Geef de datum op:] & "*") AND ((tblBestellingen.Chassisnummer) Like [Geef het chassisnr op:] & "*") AND ((tblBestellingen.Onderdeelnummer) Like [geef evt het onderdeelnr op] & "*"));
Qhat could be the problem that Access is running a Query twice before getting results
I wrote some code in Excel to open and run a module in Access. The code executes, but when I check the results I get no records, however if I just step back 1 line and rerun the query, I get records. Alternately, if I run the code twice it will get results the 2nd time.
The OpenCounter opens a Session in the terminal screen then performs a macro that writes to a temporary table.
Here is the code:
Dim db As ADODB.Connection, Rst As ADODB.Recordset Dim Acc As Access.Application Set db = New ADODB.Connection db.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=" & DBPath Set Rst = New ADODB.Recordset
[Code] ....
One thing I tried with limited success was to tell the OpenCounter to open and close the table after it was done writing to it, but that seems like a lazy solution and it also doesn't always work.
I have an unbound form with a subform which is bound to a query. The subform prioritizes and individually lists all projects my company has on its agenda and the project’s corresponding cost. Is it possible to enter a dollar figure (which would represent our budget) on the main form and have the subform list only the top prioritized projects whose running total costs would fit within the budget figure stated? Any help would be appreciated as I don’t even know if this is possible. Thanks.
hi there, I'd like to ask the solution for my problem. I made a new project using ms access 2003,crystal report 9, and visual studio 2005.
I just made a simple access dbase with 1 table(Table 1) and protected with password, o I forgot this table has 2 field(id and desc). After that I made simple report that using DAO connectivity(save data with report option is disabled).
At last I made simple program(windows app) using visual studio 2005. I put the CrystalReportViewer component, and these is the code :
using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Data; using System.Drawing; using System.Text; using System.Windows.Forms;
namespace prj { public partial class Form1 : Form { public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); }
and the problem is when I move the access database file to other location, the viewer shows a box to be confirmed by my UserID and password, my question is how must I write in the program so that the box doesnt come out.
I want to run an external application (a batch file) ... and want to run it by clicking on a command button on a form. That part is all fine, using the Shell command. I can determine the start time of the application (also fine with now() function) .. but want to find out how long the external application ran and log that "run time" into my database.
The part I don't know about is the .. really the ending time. How do I determine how long the application really ran for / ended ? I imagine I can use datepart to determine the difference in the start and end times. Or would I use a timer control. (but I cannot find the timer control in Access 2010).
Hey guys- I have a database of properties for sale. I want to calculate the asking prices of each record (for sale) against the sold prices of all the houses in the same area. Area is defined as a numeric number, and each property has one assigned to it. My question is this- I have a table of all the properties. Do I run the query and store the results in a specific cell in the table- and then use a form to display those results? Or do I run the query from a form and not store the calculated results at all? I will be adding/updating info on a daily basis, so these calculation results will also change daily. Obviously I am fairly new to Access and trying to figure out how to do this stuff. Using Access 2002. Either way, I assume i'll be using a form to display the results one way or another... Thanks!
Am running a query in Excel on an access table that uses lookup columns. The query is returning in excel with the right data but is returning the lookup value number rather than the data stored inside. How can I return the actual data value rather than the lookup value number.
i.e I have a list of areas
NY CT WA
in a lookup column.
User selects CT so is lookup value 2. But I want excel query to return CT.
I have a table for timesheet entry for a local building firm. I have a separate table containing employees and rates. I have created query "Qry_ Time Costs" which calculates the cost of hours worked by each employee by multiplying the hours field in the timesheet entry table by the rate field in the employees table.From "Qry_TimeCosts" I have created "Qry_TimeCosts1" in which i have included a running total field for time costs per day using the DSum function.
SELECT Qry_TimeCosts.[Project Title], Qry_TimeCosts.[Build Element], Qry_TimeCosts.[Date Worked], Sum(Qry_TimeCosts.Hours) AS Hours, Sum(Qry_TimeCosts.Cost) AS Cost, DSum("[cost]","qry_timecosts","[project title]='" & [project title] & "'" & "AND [build element] ='" & [build element] & "'" & "AND [date worked] <=#" & [date worked] & "#" & "") AS RunTot FROM Qry_TimeCosts GROUP BY Qry_TimeCosts.[Project Title], Qry_TimeCosts.[Build Element], Qry_TimeCosts.[Date Worked], DSum("[cost]","qry_timecosts","[project title]='" & [project title] & "'" & "AND [build element] ='" & [build element] & "'" & "AND [date worked] <=#" & [date worked] & "#" & "") HAVING (((Qry_TimeCosts.[Build Element]) Is Not Null));
This seems to be working for some projects and not for others. In particular dates 3rd 4th and 5th of June seem to be showing null fields, where all other dates have values. A few projects are showing inaccurate running totals whilst others are working fine.
I am creating a batch in an Access Query to decompress files that come in from an FTP site. When I right click on the query and export it to a TXT file I get all the line items of the that I want without the header of the query field name. When I run the following command;
(Where "Decompress2 Specification" is the name of the Spec)
I get the name of the field as the first line item and then all the line items I am looking for. I use the same Spec when I manually run it or when I run it from the code. how I can get rid of the first line item when I run it from the code?
I run a batch file to change the txt extension to bat.
I'm trying to calculate some running sum queries in preparation for some charts on a report.
I have: tbl: Spencerdaily fld1:datein fld2:milesdriven fld3:vehiclenumberdaily
I am trying to calculate the running sum of milesdriven for each year per vehicle. If I use the following I get the same set of sums repeated for each vehicle:
SELECT spencerdaily.VehicleNumberDaily, DatePart("yyyy",[datein]) AS [Year], DSum("milesdriven","spencerdaily","DatePart('yyyy', [datein])<=" & [Year]) AS Mileage FROM spencerdaily GROUP BY spencerdaily.VehicleNumberDaily, DatePart("yyyy",[datein]) HAVING (((DatePart("yyyy",[datein]))>2001)) ORDER BY spencerdaily.VehicleNumberDaily, DatePart("yyyy",[datein]);
I tried this but it didn't work:
SELECT spencerdaily.VehicleNumberDaily, spencerdaily.VehicleNumberDaily AS vehiclealias, DatePart("yyyy",[datein]) AS [Year], DSum("milesdriven","spencerdaily","DatePart('yyyy', [datein])<=" & [Year] & " AND [vehiclenumberdaily]<=" & [vehiclealias] & " ") AS Mileage FROM spencerdaily GROUP BY spencerdaily.VehicleNumberDaily, spencerdaily.VehicleNumberDaily, DatePart("yyyy",[datein]) HAVING (((DatePart("yyyy",[datein]))>2001)) ORDER BY spencerdaily.VehicleNumberDaily, spencerdaily.VehicleNumberDaily, DatePart("yyyy",[datein]);
I am trying to put together this report where I can see how many hours the printers were running in a month's time. The sum property for this is working up until it reaches 24 hours then it starts all over again. How can I get it to keep adding hours when it gets to 24?
How do you run a procedure that activates at a set time? I want to run a procedure that moves a log file to an archive directory at midnight (or at anytime after this when the PC is next turned on). Thanks for any help... Mat
I have DB in access 2007. I have a report that is uses a select query to generate the information for the report. It has been working great, But however lately like maybe with in the last month, it has been causeing Access 2007 to crash. I am having the same issue with another DB that uses the same information but that information is imported in. both Databases have worked great up until two months ago. Microsoft states that it is because of the program. I have tried to repair the DB by using the Repair option. I am confused as to why this would be happening. I can create a new report and it seems to work. but I do not want to change all the DB on everyone's computer just for this reason. I also have two buttons on my report that utilize macros to close or print the report.
My understanding of the LIKE operator seems to be deficient for filtering a query when using the Access query pane. I have a combo box that lists the values to be filtered. One option in the combo box is "No Selection". If "No Selection" is selected, I want the filter turned off, in other words ALL records are shown.
In theory the following code would seem to be correct when placed in the criteria line. It does not work: IIf([forms]![type5frm].[combo2]=24,Like "*",[forms]![type5frm].[combo2])
If the value of COMBO2 =24 (No Selection), then I would like all records to show up, but no records are displayed. The FALSE side of the IIF statement works correctly.
As an experiment I tried LIKE by itself and it displayed all the records: LIKE "*"
Another failed try:IIf([forms]![type5frm].[combo2]=24,[agency]) Like "*",[forms]![type5frm].[combo2]) AGENCY is the fieldname.
A more exotic attempt that failed:IIf([forms]![type5frm].[combo2]=24,Val(Str([agency]) Like "*"),[forms]![type5frm].[combo2])
I am using Access Application with Orcale Db as backend and this application is already in production. The problem is.. USers Complained that the system is slow, this is because there is refresh (requery) for each Insert (When they click submit, that particular record is inserted and then a refresh has to be done to bring only unused member IDs on the User screen), i had used a Sql query using NOT IN , then i realized and now changed it to NOT EXISTS, but with this new query , if i test recordset. EOF , even though the query returns more than 13000 ..records, EOF sets to TRUE and the other part (not supposed to) gets executed. I really cant figure out why, i took the same query put it in query builder in Access and ran it , it gave 13000 records..but in VBA , this recordset is not giving expected results and so..i am totally confused..The part of the Code is shown below.
Code:newquery = " SELECT A.MEMBER_ID, A.MEMBER_NAME, A.ADDRESS_LINE1.................. FROM TABLE A WHERE NOT Exists ( SELECT '' FROM TABLE B where A.MEMBER_ID =B.MEMBER_ID)AND A.MATCH_LEVEL <> 0 ORDER BY A.MATCH_LEVEL DESC"rst1.Open newquery, Cnt, adOpenDynamic, adLockOptimisticIf rst1.EOF = False ThenForm_PHS_ASSIGN.RequeryForm_PHS_ASSIGN_SUB.RequeryElse MsgBox " No records to Process!" End If
EVEn though it should requery , it gives a message No records to process which is wrong. It works with NOT IN.... BUT VERY SLOW, NOT EXISTS IS FAST BUT DOES NOT GIVE ME WHAT I WANT..
I'm new to Access, but a coworker has a huge project to undertake. There are over 200 queries that produce 1 row results for each query. She's been cutting that row and pasting it into Excel 200 times. Is there an easy way to insert them 1-by-1 into Excel or prefereably Access?
BTW, the columns are the same on the query results. I'll keep investigating while I wait for the experts to answer.
So I'm having timing issues trying to print data from an Access (actually SQL Server) based query to a Excel Spreadsheet. Basically I'm trying to get around using MS-Query and last week I didn't seem to have any problem as far as performance. However, when i tried running today it seems I've had a slow down of at least 500%. The data I'm trying to print is quite large (few hundred records and about 140 fields) so I expect some performance issues. Like I said though i just can't undestand the decrease. Possibly machine performance?
Anyhow, I've tracked the bottle neck and no suprise it is in the loop, I'm just suprised it takes so long to loop through the recordset.
Here's my code, any help will be appreciated?
'Generate grid to dump data If intRecordSetCount > 0 Then rst.MoveFirst 'Loop through length and width and display results Do Until rst.EOF intRSTField = 0 intFieldCount = intField For intIndex = 1 To intColumnCount
I have an Access 2010 application that talks to SQL Server. Part of the application creates tables on the SQl Server and inserts data to it (I know SQL Server has its on data inport/export wizard and bulk insert capabilities but for reasons outside of my control it needs to be done from Access). So I have a connection to the SQl Server and i have VBA that happily executs SQL statements on the SQl Server. The problem is I want to return a recordset from the result of a SQL query issued to the SQL Server. The idea being to check for the presence of tables already created, and if so, append to the already existing table, otherwise if it does not exist, create it and insert data to it.Ive tried the following code but it seems no recordset is being returned:
Set objConnection = New ADODB.Connection objConnection.Open "DRIVER={SQL Server};SERVER=10.200.3.14;trusted_connection=yes; DATABASE=" & Me.Combo54 strSQL = "SELECT TABLE_NAME FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLES WHERE TABLE_TYPE = 'BASE TABLE' AND TABLE_NAME = '" & Me.Combo54 & "'" strSQL = "USE " & Me.Combo54 & " " & strSQL Set Rst = cmd.Execute("USE " & Me.Combo54 & " " & strSQL)
I have a query that includes several columns, one of those columns shows returns on investment as a percentage. I need to figure out the annualised returns on investment using the following excel formula
{=PRODUCT(1+B1:B24)-1^(12/24)-1}
This formula gathers the percentages for the last two years then provides an annualized amount.
I'm just wondering whether this is possible to apply to the query so that when I open the query it can provide me with the 2 year annualized statistics.
Access 2010. This has worked before but I don't understand why this is not working for me now. When i select an item in a combo box in a form and click on a button to run a query with the results, the query is blank. If I run the query alone, it prompts for an item, I can type it in and it works. I have even tried the DoCmd on the combo box but still same results. Attached is a dummy down DB. If you run the query, it will prompt, select Paper or Rock, see results. But run the form, the drop down will not show the results. What am I missing?
Hey, I've got to make a query that displays all records whose Date/Time field appear after another tables Date/Time field. I suppose I could say this is for use in an "Item scanned into inventory, Item Scanned out of Inventory" fashion.
To purpose is to use the total items returned after the date/time to be subtracted from the total of items that were scanned in at an earlier date.
I always tend to get redundant because I'm never sure how well I explain something, it would work something like such:
So effectively the query would run, with the date/time criteria being ItemID 1's Date/Time. It would ignore the 1:00 entry as it occured before the first Item that was scanned in, and return that we have 0 ItemID 1s in inventory.
Inventory is just being implemented it was seat of your pants in the past that is why I have this dilemma we dont know how many are in stock until we check it manually but we know how much has left. This is why data before our manual check is not important to our current totals. We could have sent out 5 ItemID 1s but only have 1 in stock now, and if we use that data we would have -4 in inventory. I'm attempting to use the oldest date/time of the manual scan (table 2) as a criteria per item scanned against table 1. Hopefully, to return the present total of items on hand.
Edit* As a note, I understand how to use >=#1/1/08 1:00:00# as a criteria but for some reason I cannot swing using a field in a table as criteria. That's pretty much what I can't find on the board or in my books.
I work for a bank and have build a few little DB's for differant groups but my current project is a work flow tool for a department. I have it 90% completed and i still have to build in the reporting side. Part of the reporting is caclulating times and this is where i am having problem.
I have some coding built but i am getting inconsistant results, as an example if i am trying to calculate the total amount of time between [start Time], [End Time] then minus any [Stop Time].
I have this on a command button, i have this same code for a few other calculations and in some cases it seems to be working i have just changed my start and stop fields along with what stop time to take out in each case. I have attached some parts of my DB, one of the modules, my main table and the form where i am running the coding.
I'm getting a Run-time error 2295: Unknown Message Recepients.
I've got a DB of about 2000 clients. In testing I did a test DB with 50 random clients. Using any search criteria, it would grab those clients and open a new email with their email addresses no problem. However when I do this same thing with my complete DB of 2000 clients, I get this run time error. I'm pretty confused here, and anxious. It looks like the program is working, I just need it to run with all my clients. This is the last thing I must conquer to be finished with this project.
I have made a form on access which will be used by other employees within the company, however they have never used access before and they are wanting to access only just the form as I feel with Access and all the tools in the background will confuse them, plus I don't want them editing the data base its self.
Is there a way to only bring up the form, unless I obviously need to edit the date base.
I've done some research on Google and it seems I need to use:
SW_SHOWMINNOACTIVE
However I can not seem to find how I would use this or where?
and also if i did find a way to only bring up the form, how would I be able to switch it from that veiw to the veiw I edit in?
Having a problem here after installing 2007. All my previously created databases work fine in 2007 (after clicking the enable, which is a pain,but don't know any other way) When I return to 2002 and try to open the databases I get different errors all something like this on....... "The expression On Open you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Object or class does not support the set of events. Whats up here?????I have found a site here...http://allenbrowne.com/bug-17.htmlMentions this problem,but refers to Vista..... Does the same apply to XP? And which is the best fix?
