Forms :: How To Create Custom Menu Options In 2010

Sep 15, 2014

How to create custom menus in Forms in MS ACcess 2010. For example, I have a form fmrMainMenu. At the top of the form I want to create a menu labelled "Reports" that when clicked or hovered it displays a list of sub-menu options of all the Reports available in the database. Once the user makes a selection the report is generated. The functionality that I am looking for is similar to the old menu options like File, Edit, etc., in MS Office.

General :: How To Disable Menu Choice

Jun 16, 2014

I have several menus defined for Access 2010. However, only one is set with the visible property set to true. The user is able to show and bring up the other menus by right-clicking in the menu area. How can I disable this so the user may not bring up these menus? An example is shown in the picture below. I don't want to give the user access to the "CPLAccess" and "Datasheet column removed" menus, but I do want to keep them so that I can make them visible via VBA.

Disable Tool-Bar Menu - 'Delete Record'

Apr 20, 2006

Hello Everyone,
Before I pose my question I would first like to applaud and thank this forum for the excellent and timely help it has provided me so far. The assistance I have received to date, from you as members, and via the search facility has been extremely helpful particularly as I am new to this type of stuff…

My question is this...
I would like to disable users from selecting the 'Edit - Delete Record' facility from my main form upon its load. From searching the various forums I found a method upon which to disable the whole 'Edit' menu but not the specific 'Delete Record' function. Please accept my sincere apologies if this has already been posted but I simply cannot find it readily via a standard/refined 'search'. It might be the fact that I am phrasing the question incorrectly?? I don't want to severely restrict my users by disabling/hiding the whole menu but would rather limit them to accessing this option via a password protected command button?

What I have found so far.
Private Sub Form_Load()
CommandBars("Menu Bar").Controls("Edit").Visible = False
End Sub

Any assistance/guidance would be very much appreciated

Kind Regards – Best wishes to all of the registered site members

Drop Down Menu Inside Drop Down Menu

May 15, 2006

Ok, This is something I have long wanted to do, but cannot figure out.

I am working on a database for a company that orders a large number of Items. I have these all in one table (itemCode, itemDescription, price, categoryCode, etc). I have another table with categorys (categoryCode, categoryDescription) . Each Item is asigned a categoryCode and the appropiate relationship exsists. Right now I have a comboBox in a form that when selected opens a drops down menu with all the Items. Then another one auto loads up (continuous form) and I get the same drop down list of all the Items.

What I would like to have is a combo box then when it is selected shows the categorys, then based on that selection, I see all the Items that are in that category.

I guess another way of saying this simply is, I would like to create a drop down menu inside of a dropdown menu.

Is this possible? Does anyone have another alternative suggestion that might work well? I'm relectant to use a list box, becoase ideally it would be a drop down menu inside of a drop down menu as seen on many websites.

Thanks in Advance!

:)

Options To Use For A Small App

May 10, 2005

Hi,

I was using access 2000 to build a small office app. It will be on a network and will generally be used by only 2 or 3 people(max). I was wondering if the default jet technology would be good enough for this. If it isn't, what should I use? I looked at other options such as msde and ado but it's a bit confusing when you're new to this stuff.

Thanks,

Saving Options?

Aug 10, 2005

I'm trying to create a database for a taxi-type service that runs on thursday, friday and saturday nights. My question is: Is there a way to save the database at the end of the night separate from the previous nights, and so that the database is empty for the next night, but reports can be viewed for all of the nights combined?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Need Help Trying To Understand Options

Jan 18, 2006

ok I have an access db which is all on access. the dbase has been operational now for 3 years and working well however, do to business needs and changes I'm trying to figure out a better way to collect and share data.
So the backend of the database is stored on our local office server when users log on to enter or review data they must be in the local office. We now had the need to access the database remotely from customer sites. Now the way this works is we use a local dialer to connect to our company's network and then are routed to our local server (you can imagine how slow this is) it is impossible to operate the current database this way. So I have been reading different posts and different options (front page, sql, asp etc.) What
I would like to do is convert my dbase to a program which can allow input and review of data both remotely and locally without a huge speed loss. What is the best approch for me?

thanks

jon

Enabling Options

Jan 17, 2008

I'm by no means an expert when it comes to using access and its many controls that are avaliable to use on forms. Thats why I've come here to seek your help.

I have a database that has been created by someone who has now left the company and it needs a little work done to it.

The ideal thing we would like to get working on form, is that we would like a number of options to be greyed out and only accessable when another option is ticked.

I'm not sure how to group these options together, nor an I sure how make them active only when an specific tick box is ticked. Any help would greatly appreciated on this matter.

Thanks for your time and patience.

Options In A Form

Aug 31, 2005

I am a bit of a beginner to Access 2003, and I would appreciate any help you can give me? :)

I have a drop down box on a form in Access 2003 with several options when an option is selected from the first drop down I would like a sub catagory of the selected drop down option to appear in the second drop down menu.

For example:

First drop down Hair, Clothes,

If you select Hair it then give the products relating to hair which need to be choosen in the second drop down menu.

I hope this makes sense.
