.NET Framework :: Error 6517 - Failed To Create AppDomain
Nov 6, 2015
We have an existing code base that makes use of SQL CLR. When trying to run against SQL Server 2014, we're receiving this error:
Error 6517: Failed to create AppDomain "xxxx.dbo[runtime].175".
Could not load file or assembly 'System.Xml, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies. Not enough storage is available to process this command. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070008)
I can reproduce this error on two machines, both with 16GB. The error occurs when trying to run a series of tests that load a small amount of seed data into a database.Â
At first I thought that the problem might have been due to the CLR assembly being compiled against .NET 2.0. However, I've since change the assembly to compile against .NET 4.0 with no change in the results.
I am trying to create a CLR project in my Visual Studio 2010 with SQL Server 2012. I can build my empty project succesfully, but if I try to deploy it, I get such an error...Beginning deployment of assembly SimpleCLRIntegrationNew.dll to server xxxxxxxxx : di_test
C:Program Files (x86)MSBuildMicrosoftVisualStudiov10.0TeamDataMicrosoft.Data.Schema.SqlClr.targets(96,5): error : Could not connect to server "xxxxxxxxxx: di_test": Login failed for user 'di_test'..
I've just finish re-installing VS.NET 2005 and tried the Walkthrough: Displaying Data in a Web Forms Page I followed exactly as it is that is I tested the connection "Connection Sucessful", test Query "Successfull" but when i run it prompt me with the following error message:

I've been using replication for a long while now but have never come across this error. It's a basic transactional replication from ServerA to ServerB, where ServerA is also the distributor. Everything had been running fine on it until yesterday, when this error started popping up and no further transactions could be delivered.
After some quick googling I was able to determine that the distribution agent account needed write access to C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server100Com. According to the MSFT article it's because the distribution agent is running under a non-default profile. I didn't change this. However, what I did change around the time that these errors started occurring was the server's Replication Max Test Size setting. It would be far too coincidental for this to not be the cause, but what I don't understand is *why* that would have changed it.
how do I change this? It is definitely not preferable to create temp files in this directory in our environment.
I have recently downloaded Orcas beta VS product and had no previous version of VS before. The install went clean and I have been able to generate Window apps and web apps with very little issues; however, I have one issue with running a web app using the "view in browser" option for checking an aspx page for validity. If I use the default Northwind database provided and generate an aspx form using the "DataSet" toolbox widget, the tool prompts for the datasource etc. required to generate the required code. I can select the Northwind database and select the desired columns from one of the tables. Once completed, I build the project (clean build) and then select the "view in browser" option to verify the results. The result is an error page indicating a server error -> Failed to find or load the registered .Net Framework Data Provider.

I created on odbc connection to an iSeries(as400) box and was successfull in displaying the table on the webpage! I looked into the web.config file and it appears that all the required XML data is present. Any help would be appreciated as I am fairly green when it comes the .NET world.
After detaching the database I placed the database files and log files in the D folder as C drive was full. When i try to attach the files I am getting an error Failed to attach database Microsoft SQL Error 7622 (QCFTCAT Full text catalog).
I checked there is a folder in C drive by name QCFTCAT and the C drive has no space. What does this folder means please let me know on the same.

We are dealing with occasional problems running out of virtual address space. I have implemented a job that records VAS every two minutes using the dm_os_virtual_address_dump function. When I notice a big drop in VAS I look at the SQL log and see event like:
Common language runtime (CLR) functionality initialized using CLR version v2.0.50727 from C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727
AppDomain 2 (32767.dbo[runtime].1) created.
In this case VAS dropped from 53MB down to 7MB. Then just 5 minute later I see these events
AppDomain 2 (32767.dbo[runtime].1) is marked for unload due to memory pressure
AppDomain 2 (32767.dbo[runtime].1) unloaded.
But we don't seem to recover any VAS and eventually have to reboot. We are using replication and I sometimes see this when replication restarts after we have an out of sync data issue. We do not have SQL CLR enabled.
Does anyone have any insight on what is going on? What triggers these AppDomains to be created and why does it eat up all the VAS? How could replication have anything to do with it?
We are running... SQL Server 2005 Enterprise sp2 (with hotfix 3175)
Windows Server Enterprise 2003 SP1 32GB RAM Max Server Memory in sp_configure = 29000MB
I have some user defined CLR function. One of my STPs uses this function. Sometime next exception is thrown by SQL server:
DB Error: A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user defined routine or aggregate 'UnzipProcedure': System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection' threw an exception. ---> System.Threading.ThreadAbortException: Exception of type 'System.Threading.ThreadAbortException' was thrown. System.Threading.ThreadAbortException: System.TypeInitializationException: at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection..ctor(String connectionString) at UserDefinedFunctions.UnzipProcedure()
Where UnzipProcedure is user defined function. If this exception happen, all other calls to STP that uses UnzipProcedure would return exception. Restart of a SQL server is helpful.
Does anyone meat the exception in similar circumstances? Is any way to recreate such exception? My quess is that there is some lock on resource that UnzipProcedure use. How can I figured out what resource is busy? Any other suggestions.
I have a master package that executes a series of sub packages run from a SQL Agent job. One of those sub packages has been stable for a week, running at least once per day, but it just failed despite having been run once already today with the same set of input data.
There were a series of errors showing in the event log for the Execute Package Task starting with "Buffer Type 15 had a size of 0 bytes.", then "The buffer manager failed to create a new buffer type.", then "The Data Flow task cannot register a buffer type. The type had 32 columns and was for execution tree 3.", then "The layout failed validation." and finally "Error 0xC0012050 while loading package file "C:[Package].dtsx". Package failed validation from the ExecutePackage task. The package cannot run.".
SQLIS.com reports the constant for the error code as DTS_E_REMOTEPACKAGEVALIDATION ( http://wiki.sqlis.com/default.aspx/SQLISWiki/0xC0012050.html ).
I then ran the package on my dev machine in BIDS and it worked fine, so I re-ran the job on the server and this time that package executed ok, but another one fell over but did not put anything in the event log.
I have Vista Ultimate installed and within Vista .NET Framework 3.0 is installed as a part of the operating system so I can't remove 3.0 Now for MS SQL Server 2005 Express I need .NET Framework 2.0 and the SQL Server 2005 doesn't work with .NET Framework 3.0 Can't install 2.0, get the message that 3.0 is already installed. Please help me!!
VS2k5 Win2k3IIS6.NET 2.0In my ASP.NET 2.0 app I create and open an SQL connection in the page's constructor and call Dispose() in the destructor. The SQLConnection object is a class member of the page. This page makes heavy use of the SQLConnection object so I felt opening and closing in the constructor/destructor respectively was good design. I know this doesn't take full advantage of connection pooling. Any design input would be very much appreciated. Here's the destructor code:/// Destructor~Officer(){ if( m_objConn != null ) m_objConn.Dispose(); // <-- Exception occurrs here.}/// End DestructorWhen running this particular page through some testing I get the following exception in the destructor at the "m_objConn.Dispose();" line:System.InvalidOperationException was unhandled Message="Internal .Net Framework Data Provider error 1." Source="System.Data" StackTrace: at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionInternal.PrePush(Object expectedOwner) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionPool.PutObject(DbConnectionInternal obj, Object owningObject) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionInternal.CloseConnection(DbConnection owningObject, DbConnectionFactory connectionFactory) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.Close() at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.Dispose(Boolean disposing) at System.ComponentModel.Component.Dispose() at Officer.Finalize() in c:sysprojectsAddOfficer.aspx.cs:line 461) Is this design good/bad?1) Is this a bug?2) Do I need a try/catch in a destructor? Is it good programming practice?3) Why is this happening?4) What is the meaning of life?Any help is appreciated. TIA
I am trying to access my SQL Server database through SqlCeConnection:
cecon = new SqlCeConnection("Data Source=D:\D_Drive\csharppract\nddbpda\nddbpda\nddbpdadatabase.sdf");
cecon.Open();
I am getting the following error:
System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeException was unhandled Message="The path is not valid. Check the directory for the database. [ Path = D:\D_Drive\csharppract\nddbpda\nddbpda\nddbpdadatabase.sdf ]" HResult=-2147467259 NativeError=25009 Source="SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition ADO.NET Data Provider" StackTrace: at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeConnection.ProcessResults() at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeConnection.Open() at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeConnection.Open() at nddbpda.frmCeMain.frmCeMain_Load() at System.Windows.Forms.Form.OnLoad() at System.Windows.Forms.Form._SetVisibleNotify() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.set_Visible() at System.Windows.Forms.Application.Run() at nddbpda.Program.Main()
When I tried to get the path from which the database file is being accepted, I got a different path:
i have deployed my application on server where sql server 2005 exists but if i try to connect to sql server from my development machine then it is not connecting and gives me error when
conn.open()
in my sql server it is windows authentication.
the error is general network error check network docs.
We've deployed an assembly to a new production sql server 2005 instance, and have been having periodic restarts of sql server. The sql server service appears to be stopping and restarting on it's own since the assembly was deployed.
We've narrowed it down to a decryption method. We haven't been able to produce the issue on a consistant basis. Even if we put a ton of load on the stored procedure calls.
The error is below we receive (I cut out some, so it would fit in the thread), we also have mdmp files, that I've attempted to debug with Visual Studio 2005 and Windbg with no success. I have all the symbols (I'm pretty sure), but I don't have much experience with WinDbg, so it's been slow going.
Here's a little about the environment.
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 SP2 Microsoft SQL Server version 9.00.3042.00 SP2 16 MB physical memory Quad 3.2 GHz Xeon 3 sets of raid drives. c: OS e: sql data e: sql logs All Sql and windows patches are up to date.
Only thing I can figure is this is something to do with the .NET libraries. When the assembly was compiled it was set to compile for any CPU. We even tried compiling on the 64 bit OS with no luck still.
If anyone has had a similar issue, it would be most helpful, thanks, Byron

When I tried to get the path from which the database file is being accepted, I got a different path:
We have few C# binaries that contains definition of CLR functions, and one stored procedure to install / create them in our database. Recently when dropping and recreating the CLR function using our stored procedure, it failed with below error:
Error/info returned: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]This server is Information Protection configured. Only the sql server web application can be used for this function. ([URL])[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The transaction ended in the trigger. The batch has been aborted.
Basically our stored procedure has standard steps to create asymmetric key for each of our C# binary and create login for that key and then grant unsafe assembly permissions to those logins.
It sets show advanced options, clr enabled, and ole automation procedures options. It then using create assembly (for each c# binary with permission_set = unsafe) and create function constructs to create clr functions in SQL server.
If you connect to a server and open a query in SQL Managment studio (2005) and looses connection and then regain the connection, when you try to run the query it gives me a "TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host." This happens against both 2005 and 2000 servers. If I re-run the query it works. However, this happens in our VB.NET app as well for clients with Wireless connections. So, something has changed in Framework 2.0 regarding this, does anyone know how to tell the client to not throw this error and just try connecting the server instead which will work?
I've built SSIS package and made a job to execute it automatically but it always returns an error. The job returns OK but when we looked at the Log File viewer, it conatins this error log :
Key not valid for use in specified state
Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS Password" with error
What's wrong with the package ? Thanks in advance.
I have log shipping set up between 2 SQL 2000 SP1 Servers on Win 2000. The db is small 10 meg, and when the restore job on the backup server fails I am getting "sqlmaint.exe failed. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 22029). The step failed." as the message, the maint paln on the primary server show no error. Anyone seen this before? The restore has worked 3 out of 5 times
Many a times see the below error in SQL Error log.
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: ]
Is this something to do here?
Note: If I run the below statement I know that the SQL Error log entry will go off, but wanted to know the real significance of this error?
CREATE LOGIN [NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON] FROM WINDOWS
I have a re-indexing stored procedure, yester day night it got failed "Executed as user: CONNECTSRVmyadmin. sqlmaint.exe failed. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 22029). The step failed." what may be the reason..
I am trying to remotely create a database through a database creation tool I created, and I keep getting the following error:
The file "\10.116.204.105DataWMS_TDMN_Data.MDF" is on a network path that is not supported for database files. CREATE DATABASE failed. Some file names listed could not be created. Check related errors.
The path is located on a RAID 5 server. I can create a database while on the server on the E: drive. Also, my application can drop the database remotely from my laptop, but it cannot recreate it.
The creation works with no problem on the C: drive. The server is on a different VLAN, but I have the privileges to access it. The problem appears to be related to the 3 hard drives combined together as the E: drive. I have excellent skills in SQL, but my understanding of RAID is about nothing.
First of all: I don't really know a lot about MSSQL-Servers, so this question might sound a bit silly ;)
Today I wanted to test an application, that uses a MSSQL-Server for the databases. As they said, that a MSSQL7-Server is required, I thought that a MSSQL-Express 2005-Server would also do the job.
But when it's time to set up the database, I get the following error:
With searching the net, I didn't found a solution to my problem...
Does this in the end mean, that I need to install (and buy!) a MSSQL7-Server, because the application won't run with a MSSQL-Express2005-Server? Or is there any way to get this thing up'n'running?
