Adding Secondary Axis To Charts In Business Intelligence

May 15, 2008

Hi Guys

Can I use secondary axis in chart item ? I need to plot two different items in a single chart. They have a common x axis but they differ hugely in terms of their values. For ex one item is the Amount of time in minutes and the other item is the total no. of people .But they need to be plotted on a single graph for business needs.
Any ideas??

Cheers

Installing VS2005 And Business Intelligence Report Projects On A Vista Business Workstation

Oct 23, 2007

Does anyone have a successful prescribed sequence for installing VS2005 and Business Intelligence Reports Projects on a Vista Business workstation to be used to create reports for a server?

I've looked through everything I can find here and I don't seem to see a clear solution without a lot of trial and error.

Fact is, I've not been successful getting just the reports to install on a plain XP box. Of course, the report creation looks fine on the server but I don't want to work directly on the server.

Thank you

Configuring Charts For More Than One Axis

Dec 8, 2005

In Excel it is possible to have a primary and a secondary axis.  This would allow for a chart to show to related data sets that have vastly different scales.  Is this possible in Reporting Services.

Reporting Services :: Using Secondary Axis For Dynamic Series

Nov 19, 2015

We run 2014 enterprise. I have 3 series being charted on a line (with dots) chart.  I know what the series are but to ssrs they are dynamic. One of them really needs a secondary y axis because its a percentage. Is there a way to do this?  From what I read if I was to somehow make them less dynamic, then ssrs could treat this one differently.  Also, what if I want data point values to show only on this plot but not the other two?

 I had to do a re-install of SQL 2005 Standand Edition.  I
now do not have the BI, I do not know if it came with it or not.
What would I need to install ifit did?  I also wanted to
ask:  I know that MS Office Excel has the capabilites to sames as
an XML file, but it is not very readable to import into the SQLdatabase.  Is there a way to import the XML file into the database via one of the express editions? Thank youDee

Business Intelligence In SQL Express?

May 5, 2006

Hello,

I have spent about half an hour looking for an answer to this, so apologies if I have missed it.

Can you get Business Intelligence Development Studio together with SQL Server 2005 both in Express editions? There was mention of an Express toolkit which includes BIDS but it seemed to imply you couldn't combine it with SQL Server Express.

If not, what is the cheapest way for an individual to get Business Intelligence Development Studio? My evaluation edition is about to run out.

Thanks,

Business Intelligence Development Studio

Sep 5, 2007

Hi

I have recently started working in a SQL 2005 (Enterprise Edition) clustered environment. I neeed to start using the Business Intelligence Development Studio but it is not installed.

I have tried re-running the setup but there is no component option for BIDS. At which point during installation does it get installed or what do I need to run to install it?

And if I do run setup again will it affect other installed components?

Thanks

Installing Business Intelligence Dev Studio

Sep 6, 2007

Hi

I have the following situation...

MSSQL 2005 Enterprise Edition version 9.00.3042.00
Windows 64 bit OS

I have started working on SQL server 2005 and realised that BIDS has not been installed, I tried to re-run setup again for integration services but I get an error saying that the version that is being installed is older than that already installed.
I assuming that SP 2 has been installed (judging by the logs)
Does anyone know how to install the BIDS application from the above scenario?

Business Intelligence Development Studio

Dec 28, 2005

i have just installed the SQL Server 2005 eval version to try the Business Intelligence. However, when i click on the Business Intelligence Studio link it starts looking for a file devenv.exe and reports that the file is not found. I have searched for the file and it does not exisits. I have made sure that I selected ALL the components at the time of installation. So although the link to Business Intelligence appears, it is not there. My question is that do i need to install Visual Studio to make this work? I already had Visual Studio 6 - VSS only on the machine.

Can't Run Business Intelligence Development Studio

Jul 26, 2006

All,

I've installed SQL Express with advanced services and the BIDS software from the SQL Toolkit using the vs_setup.msi extracted from the toolkit installer (Why not include it in the advanced services?).

Now I'm trying to start BIDS and am asked to log into the Report Server. I use my username and password for ASPNET. The login fails saying that the web application is not available on the web server and to look in the application event log for more information.

There are a bunch of errors listed (and more every 30 seconds are so). The error message is:

aspnet_wp.exe could not be launched because the username and/or password supplied in the processModel section of the config file are invalid.

Also, when I start Visual Web Developer Express I get a message that says there is a Package Load Failure for the Report Designer.

Any thoughts and help would be appreciated.

Where Is The Business Intelligence Development Studio

Apr 26, 2006

Hi folks,

I installed SQL Server Express Advanced Edition and Toolkit. According to the documentation, I should be able to create reports using Business Intelligence Development Studio, but I can't find it. There is only a Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 menu instead. I'm just wondering if there is something wrong with my installation, or is BIDS inside Microsoft Visual Studio 2005?

Any comment appreciated.

Can anybody tell use of this and how to get this.

I need to transfer data from ODBC to SQL Server which is of 10GB size.

Matching Records Using Business Intelligence Studio

Feb 17, 2007

Hello,

I have a database with thousands of records that contain personal details of customers. Some of these records pertain to the same customer - however, they have been submitted by different people, so they differ slightly in detail.

I've been looking to see if any of the data mining tools provided by Business Intelligence Studio in SQL Server 2005 will enable me to achieve a high degree of accuracy in matching records that pertain to the same customer. From what I can see, these tools seem more suited to making general predictions based on large groupings rather than the kind of precise prediction I am looking for.

So I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me if there is any way I could use Business Intelligence Studio to match these 'duplicate' records together, or whether I will have to create a more SQL-based solution which attempts to match the customer records using SELECT statements and making assumptions about the data.

TIA,

Kweri

SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio

Apr 8, 2007

I just got through uninsalling the express verions of SQL2005,VB,C#&VWEB and .NET in preparation of a clean install of SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition.

I installed the developer edition of SQL Server 2005 and let it install it's own verions of .NET BI, etc. Now I see that in the install instructions for VB & C# Express requires that all verions of SQL server and .NET need to be uninstalled.

"Before installing, you must uninstall any previous Beta, CTP or Tech Preview versions of SQL Server 2005, Visual Studio 2005, and the .NET Framework 2.0."

So, does that mean I can't use any express editions of Visual Studio 2005 components with the Developer version of SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio (AKA - Visual Studio 2005 Version 8.0.50727.42 RTM.050727-4200)?

TIA,

Business Intelligence Hardware Architechture For Microsoft

Dec 11, 2007

Hi,
I have a hardware configuration Question on microsoft BI components.
We have a BI solution which is END to END on Microsoft . It has:

1)SQL Server 2005 SP2 Database
2)SSIS
3)SSAS
4)SSRS
5)Excel 2007
6)WSS 3.0 (portal).

Can anyone tell me how to split the hardware for alll the components above. I mean which components can/should be kept together and what other should be residing on other widows servers so that the performance is imporved.

As of now i was thinking of having Database and SSIS on one server box and the SSRS and WSS on another box.

Please Suggest.

Thankyou

HELP! Installed New MS Products, Ate My Business Intelligence Studio

Jan 29, 2008

Greetings
I'm completely stumped by this one.

Yesterday I installed Microsoft Visio Professional 2003 and Microsoft Project 2003.

Today when I open any of my SSIS packages I get this:

There were errors while the package was being loaded.
The package might be corrupted.
See the Error List for details.

The error list says: Unable to instantiate XML DOM document please verify that the MSXML binaries are properly installed and registered.

When I try to create a new integration services project I get the following modal message box:

Failed to save Package File C:Documents and SettingsMyNameLocalSettingsTemp mp172.tmp with error 0x8002802B - Element Not Found

Yet I can create and run a small C# program no problem, and SQL Server Management Studio seems to be OK.

What do I need to de-install and buy a seperate computer for here? Is it Visio or Project?

Thanks in advance

Error When Trying To Create A Business Intelligence Project

Jan 15, 2008

Hello,

I'm re-posting my inquiry back in this forum, it was moved to the Reporting Services forum and I firmly believe that this is an installation or file issue related to SQL Server 2005 Express. I have researched issues and errors in this forum regarding the installation of Business Intelligence Studio and the related services and am aware that there are were/are a lot of issues.

My problem is that I have installed the necessary components to run Reporting Services, but when I try and run the Business Intelligence Studio and try to create a project in Visual Studio, I get the following error:

"Object Reference Not Set To an Instance of An Object"

Unfortunately I have no idea what this means. I have tried searching the forums, online searches and I have not found anything. As per some of the responses in this forum, I have checked the web.config files in the ReportServer and ReportManager folders - both check out okay. I then copied all of the necessary folders over from my C: drive to my D: drive (where Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005 Express are both installed on my machine).

Unfortunately, I have no idea what to do next or how to resolve this issue.

Can someone help?

Thanks!!
