Can SQL Replication Work Between 2 Dbases On SAME Server?
Jun 22, 1999
Hi there, the subject says it all.
I have two databases on one server. I want to replicate 1 table from one Dbase to the other. Can it be done? Am running SQL 6.5 on NT 4
I have a mobile device application using mobile sql 2005 replicating with sql 2000 in a x86 environment. This works fine!
I'm having issues getting this to work under Windows Server 2003 X64.
I've got all the components installed under the X64 environment including CLR 2.0 X64 and the mobile sql tools. the but when I run the Configure Web Synchronization Wizard I get the following error. SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition Server Tools were not found on the IIS server. Run the SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition Server Tools installer....
My question is: Were do I get the X64 version of these tools?
sqlce30setupen.msi sql2Ken@P4.msi
The SQL environment is X86 as follows: SQL2000 SP4
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.2039 (Intel X86) May 3 2005 23:18:38 Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation Standard Edition on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 1)
I have the following problem that I need to find a solution. I have created a generic user id and login in the model datbase on SQL 7. However the genericuser does not show in the explorer window for some databases, does not work on some databases. I have to go into TSQL and use dropuser to get rid off them and re-link them again.
Does any1 have a clue about why this happening? How it can be solved?
There are 3 applications each one of has respective databases. Now i am trying to design a database which should capture the important entities from these systems.
I have a database, whose size is 1600MG. That database needs to be copied to the other server. But, the server does not have enough space (1600MB) for the database since the other databases also share the space. Therefore, I transfered the database to a database in that server whose size was set up 700MB the server. The table schema and data were transered successfully. But, when I tried to replicate the tranfered data to another database. The transfered database did not show all of the tables which were shown when I had queried them against that transfered database.
My question is that why it did not show alll of the tables for me to pick up for replication. Does that have something to do with the transfered database? In other word, if I set up the same size of database for the transfered database, it would have worked. Right?
I'm pretty new to the whole replication method. I've been making c++ programs to replicate the databases using manual odbc classes. I'm ready to try something new if it would work for me.
I have multiple databases. Basically I have a bunch of computers, each with a SQL server. These databases are the "publishers" due to the fact they are the databases that receiving new data. All of the publishers then upload their new information to the main SQL server. This seems not an issue but the trick is when the publisher uploads the information to the new SQL server, it then deletes the uploaded information from itself. This is basically the same model for everything I do. I was hoping someone might be able to tell me how to do this with replication/triggers and what versions of SQL Server 2005 that I would need to put on each of the publishers and subscriber (main).
I set up the transationsal replication on SQL7.0. It did not work. Here are the messages
1 on Snapshot Agent: The process could not create file Server_namec$MSSQL7REPLdATAFTPServer_namefile_nam e. Error: Access is denied 2. On Log Reader Agent: bi replication transaction are available 3. Disribution Agent: The initial snapshot for publication "DB_Name" is not yet available.
hi guys :( ive searched on all the topics here about replication. but now i am wondering what windows xp settings do i have to edit? i read something about dcom settings and changing permissions. what is the RIGHT way to share a file or whatever because the schema cannot be accessed for some reason. i need a whole list of things to do because things are not working out after i read the tutorials on other sites. please someone help me.
basically i need to have two servers that need to be replicating each other. i realized that the instances have to be named so i am just totally confused. ill even let anyone connect remotely to help me out if they want. or explaining will do fine. please! thanks guys! happy holidays!
I have maually deleted the Database.LDF file by stopping the SQL Server. When i start the SQL Server, merge replication which was configured for the database does not work. How do i fix this problem.
I'm developing a scientific appliation - to forecast the spread of disease. The algorithm has been designed such that different subpopulations reside on separate computers.
The model uses the same set of data repeatedly, and only returns a small signature that reflects the appropriateness of a particular set of parameters.
The model does however change, and I'm looking for a way to roll out this model (which only contains T-SQL, CLR assemblies and service broker code).
I have considered setting up a database on each computer which has the 'data' files which are static, and a separate database which contains the algorithm which can be amended.
Could one then detach the algorithm database making the new version that can then be rolled out (by attaching it to each computer used)?
Is this the best practice? Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to do this?
I have a problem with creating Merge replication between two instances of MSDE 2000. In the article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324992/, published by Microsoft, described, that it is possible.
I am creating Merge Publication at MSDE 2000, with Distributor and Publisher configured at same machine, with options "Allow Pull Subscriptions" and "Allow Anonymous Subscriptions". There is no problem with creating of Publication. Even snapshot generation finishes successfully. Also I create a login with SQL Server Authentication and "System Administrators" database role at the publisher in order to connect to it from Subscriber.
The problem occurs, when creating anonymous pull subscription to this publication at another instance of MSDE. During initial synchronization an error occurs:
The process could not connect to Distributor '<publisher_server_name>'. Login failed for user '<login_created_at_publisher>'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. The step failed.
Although I didn't use Windows Authentication at all, so Subscriber doesn't need to connect to Distributor using trusted SQL Server connection.
What is a problem and how can I workaround?
Note: The same works correctly, if MS SQL Server used as a Publisher instead of MSDE.
Please, help!
I can provide publication and subscription creation scripts, if required.
Hi, we have developped an application on pdaphone. we try to use merge replication between our sql server 2000 sp4 and sql Ce 3.0 via GPRS . Sometime that works very fine . Sometime it's a nightmare !!! nothing work . we have multiple error....
can someone tell me, what are the rules to make it work ? can someone tell me, if it really works fine ?
I have been evaluating merge replication, 'push' subscription on SQL Server 2014. If the default resolver is used (I refer to @article_resolver parameter of sp_addmergearticle), all seems to work as expected. However if I use "Microsoft SQL Server Subscriber Always Wins Conflict Resolver" (or any other MS standard resolver for that matter), if the Subscriber is on a different machine, the merge agent invariably gives the following error: "The process could not initialize <resolver_name>. Verify that the component is registered correctly."
This does not happen if the Subscriber is on the same machine as the Publisher and Distributor.
The problem seemed to exist in SQL Server 2008 according to some posts but it has been apparently fixed since then. I've tried the following:
- @partition_options = 0, as was suggested somewhere.
- Copied ssrpub.dll (the resolver dll) to the Subscriber machine (should not really matter as this is 'push' subscription?)
- Registered ssrpub.dll with regsvr32 on the Publisher/Distributor machine.
I've also run sp_enumcustomresolvers on the Publisher machine, and it happily showed all standard resolver, including the "Microsoft SQL Server Subscriber Always Wins Conflict Resolver".
Another thought is, I'm using SQL Server Express as the Subscriber (on the remote machine). Perhaps it does not support custom resolvers? (I'm using the full SQL Server in the 'local subscriber' variant, which does work OK as I mentioned before).
Note also that if I create a new publication via SSMS, the Resolver tab of the Article Properties dialog is empty, i.e. it does not list any resolver. The same tab contains the full list of resolvers though, if opened for an existing publication.
DBCC OPENTRAN shows "REPLICATION" on a server that is not configured for replication. The transaction log is almost as large as the database (40GB) with a Simple recovery model. I would like to find out how the log can be truncated in such a situation.
Using a 32-Bit SQL Server 2008 Express on my LOCAL PC. I downloaded the Advantage 8.1 OLE DB Provider and created a linked server to a REMOTE Advantage 8.1 database server. There is no data dictionary on the Advantage server.
Here is my linked server:
EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedserver @server = N'1xx.1xx.xx.1xx', @srvproduct=N'Advantage', @provider=N'Advantage OLE DB Provider', @datasrc=N'1xx.1xx.xx.1xxeccET', @provstr=N'servertype=ads_local_server;tabletype=ads_cdx;'--tabletype=’ADS_ADT’ (this test works too) EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedsrvlogin @rmtsrvname=N'1xx.1xx.xx.1xx',@useself=N'False',@locallogin=Null,@rmtuser='adssys',@rmtpassword=Null
Testing the link succeeds with above. Using “ads_REMOTE_server” instead of “ads_local_server” and the test fails. Here is my problem, using the following queries will not work. Perhaps it’s a permissions issue? When I specify my local credentials for the remote server in the linked server it still does not work.
SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY([1xx.1xx.xx.1xx], 'SELECT * FROM ActType')
OLE DB provider "Advantage OLE DB Provider" for linked server "1xx.1xx.xx.1xx" returned message "Error 7200: AQE Error: State = HY000; NativeError = 5004; [Extended Systems][Advantage SQL][ASA] Error 5004: Either ACE could not find the specified file, or you do not have sufficient rights to access the file. Table name: ActType SELECT * FROM ActType". Msg 7321, Level 16, State 2, Line 2
An error occurred while preparing the query "SELECT * FROM ActType" for execution against OLE DB provider "Advantage OLE DB Provider" for linked server "1xx.1xx.xx.1xx".
I'm new to SQL. I have a scenario, Where customer want to move all the jobs from original SQL server to some remote SQL server and want to trigger jobs on remote server to do its work on original server.
I have 2 networked PC's both running vista ultimate
1st is Laptop and is running its own SQL Server at laptoplaptopSQL 2nd is Desktop and is running its own SQL Server at desktopdesktopSQL
Now both machines have seperate windows login accounts.
When I go SQL Server management studio I go to browse and each machine can see the other machines SQL Server, but when I go to login I get SQL Login falied for users" The user is not associaed with a trusted SQL server connection".
So I then go to logins new login and try to add my other pc's user account. The problem I see is that when I go to search and then location it only shows its own PC's location and not the location of my other networked pc? So if I am on Desktop and in my theory want to add laptopuser to the desktop SQL Server logins I get:
"create failed for login laptopuser
An exception occurred while executing Transact SQL statement laptopuser is not a valid windows NT name. give the complete name
We just upgraded to SQL Server 2005 from SQL Server 2000. The DB was backed up using Enterprise Manager and restored with SQL Server Management Studio Express CTP. Everything went as expected (no errors, warnings, or any other indicator of problems).
The DB resides in a DB Server (Server1) and the application we are running is a Client/Server system where the AppServer resides on Server2.
During the application's operation all read, create, and delete transactions work fine but no update works. When viewing details in Trace Log I see this message after attempting any update:
Could not find server 'Server1' in sysservers. Execute sp_addlinkedserver to add the server to sysservers. (7202)
I am getting an error saying incorrect syntax near fIt works in SQL Server 2005, but I cannot get it to work in SQL Server 2000 The error appears to be in the section that I marked in Bold. In my application I check in which state is SQL Server - run/paused/stopped I do it with object SQLServer from SQLDMO.dll. After program compilation in BIN floder created file Interop.SQLDMO.dll And in SQLServer folder (in which whole stuff of SQL Server is) there is file SQLDMO.dll. My application indeed checks states of SERVER.
Now I need this application will work on another computer in which SQL Server installed too. I place there EXEs and all DLLs compiled by my program into single folder (include SQLDMO.dll) but the desired checks do not work there.
What I need to do in order application can use SQLDMO.dll features on another computer too ?
I plan on replacing a SQL2000 database with MSDE for lowering budget. Can we script up the SQL database (with SPs, triggers, and UDFs) and recreate it in MSDE? Thanks.
For some reasons, I uninstalled and reinstalled SQL server in local pc. Now, none of my app is working. My pc is XP professional with sp2 and VS.NET is 2003. I spent a couple of days but no luck. It drived me crazy! Help!!!
I'm new to the world of SQL and queries. There was an existing SQL server when I took the job and have been learning what I can as it comes up. My problem is that installed a new SQL server and moved everything to it. Everything seems to be working with the exception of the existing queries. I have changed the server in the ODBC Administrator but I still get the following error:
Connection Failed: SQLState: 01000 SQL SErer Error: 10060 & 10061 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionOpen (Connect()). Connection Failed: SQLState: 08001 SQL SErer Error: 17 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
I have also checked to make sure that the server is listening for incoming sockets connections. (Port 1433) It is.
I don't know if there are files (DSN) that need too be moved to the new server or if there is another place to change the server the queries are pointed to. I hope someone can help me.
I am moving my site to a host that has SQL Server 2005. I am pretty goodwith Access, but I don't know much about SQL Server.I'm currently using SQL Server 2000, and I access it with Access 2000, whichmeans I can't do a lot.Would I be able to work in it using SAL Server Express? What I amparticularly interested in, is being able to run queries (views).I need to update stock every day. If I was using Access I would import orlink the new stock table, and then join the 2 tables by the product number -(the product table and the new stock table), and pull the records where thestock amounts were different, then copy the column from the stock table tothe product table (or do an update query, although copying is usuallyquicker and easier).I would do that, not just for stock amounts, but for price changes, to adddescriptions, and a few other things. How can I do that in SQL Server 2005? What program do I need to have on mydesktop to do that? Please explain in baby terms, if possible! Thanks!
Hello ia m trying to install SQL Server 2005 but i am unable to run it. I installed Net Framework 2.0 Then i have tried the following files: SQLEXPR.EXE SQLEXPR_ADV.EXE Then i installed Service PAck 1 for that but an error occoured during the install.
Basiclly i have no idea what i am doing here. It creates a configuration tools start menu item but it seems just like configuration. In C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2MSSQLBinn there is a file called sqlservr.exe but all it does is create a black console window and does nothing.
I have an Access 2003 application that works well in a LAN environment with a Jet based back end. However, I would like to move this back end to a SQL Server database hosted on a website so that my users could run the application from any Internet-connected PC, using a modified version of my Access front end.
Is this a perfectly normal way of using SQL Server? Is response time likely to be an issue or can careful design make performance similar to that with a LAN based back end?
