Can anyone help me, please.
I want my users to submit there email address and username to my Sql Database, but i want to prevent them from adding already existed usernames to my table.
I have a usernametextbox and emailtextbox and a Submit button.
How do i check in my table before Submiting?

Before allowing my Data Flow task to fire, I'd like to check the target table (OLE DB Destination) for a specific date value in a specific field. I've seen how the Lookup Task is commonly used to check for dupes before inserting, but I'm not able to use that method because the data value I want to search the table for is contained in a Global Variable (let's say "MyVariableDate").
Is there any way to check for any records in a target table where Date1 = MyVariableDate (i.e. scanning the entire table for any occurrence of MyVariableDate in the Date1 field)?
i need the t-sql statement for a check constraint that has a custom error message that shows the proper fromat for column entry.... i know its confusing...
example... if im using the authors table in the pubs database and the numbers in the au_id column reads xxx-xxxxxx where x represents numbers... what must i do so that the error message reads the proper format... ie. use proper format XXX-XXXXXX, is what i might want the error message to read.
i have 2 tables (both containing the same column names/datatypes), say table1 and table2.. table1 is the most recent, but some rows were deleted on accident.. table2 was a backup that has all the data we need, but some of it is old, so what i want to do is overwrrite the rows in table 2 that also exist in table 1 with the table 1 rows, but the rows in table 2 that do not exist in table one, leave those as is.. both tables have a primary key, user_id.
When inserting records into a table created through a RDA Pull(), many users experience duplicate key violations. One reason for this is Identity columns. SQL Server CE RDA does not set the seed on the Identity columns when a table is pulled.

This error can be returned when the user attempts to insert a row with an automatically incremented Identity column. With RDA, this usually occurs when a user pulls rows from the server and attempts to insert new rows before setting the seed and increment values for the Identity column. By default, the seed and increment values are both 1.
To correct this error, set the seed to the next highest number after the table is pulled, before allowing users to enter data.
What do they mean by setting the seed to the next highest level? I this the seed to the GUID row in the pulled table? How do you correctly do this with the ALTER table statement? The database that I am pulling has 21 tables, and would be a pain to have to do this. Does anyone have any other ideas as to why this won't work properly. If I clear out the data from the tables on the publishing server, I can add data to the pull as long as I want until I do another pull later. After I do that, I keep getting the above issue.
How would I select from TABLE A and add this data to TABLE B which has existing data that I want to keep. I would like to keep adding onto the old data. When I do an "Insert Into", it keeps on deleting my old data.
I am building RDA process between SQL server and SQL server CE. Since when we use the method 'SqlCeRemoteDataAccess.pull()', the data will be pulled down from SQL server to CE server and a new table is created with some addtional columns. As I only intend to pull the data and never push it back to SQL server, if I pull the data down for the second time, there will be an error saying that table is already existing. I wonder whether I can pull the data to an existing table everytime I do the RDA?
How to normalization would be use 3 tables ,one for tags_id and tags, and another relating the tags_id to ID from the table above...but how does the code already know there is a tag called repeating?

I need to add syntax to a stored procedure to check for the existence of a specific indexes on a table before dropping it. If they do not exist I need it to NOT through an error message. I have an existing table I need to add data to. The data is in a text file, and the existing table already has data in it (I don't want to delete this I want to add to it).
I used Microsoft's import utility but this created a seperate table with generic fieldnames (column01, column02, ect). Is there a step in this wizard I missed?

I have created a data flow. I have no trouble storing the result of the flow in a new table. But I'm trying to store the result of my data flow in an existing table. (The flow involves fuzzy grouping, and i would like to store the result in the original table on which the fuzzy grouping was performed). But I cannot get it to work.

I am using typed data sets. When a certain line of C# code is reached, I get the following error message: Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints. Here is my source code. I altered the table to remove all contraints and primary keys, but I still get the error message. The erroroccurs when the last line of code is reached. I created database using SQL server and runs under Cassini. The creation of database is ok but I have a problem when I am creating the table in database. Whenever I execute the code to create the tables, it shows the error message like 'Server not found' or just hang there. Does anybody know why it hang while I am creating the table? SQL Server Management Studio always says "Data was changed" if another user updates data and you try to update old version. How it checks data modification date? I found only this:

I got 10 Tables with data in it for 100 Loans. The data can be Good and Bad .....
I had a Update Proc which Updates the 10 tables with the Good data what ever i pass...for this 100 Loans Tha Proc will update the existing data in all tables whether it is Good or Bad Data.
when the updating is completed I want to know what are the Loans that were updated where there is a Bad Data in atleast one Field of the 10tables.
I don't want to check field by field in each table.... if there is a bad data and my proc updated with a Good Data i want to know that Loan.
I have an SSIS package in VS 2010 that uses flat files to load database tables. I would like to check for the flat files existing before continuing to run the package. The flat files each have their own connection manager. I was wondering if I could use the connection managers to determine the file names instead of creating a Script Task and hard-coding each of the file names to check.
I am getting the message ("string or binary data would be truncated") when trying to update a field in a table in my database, but am unclear as to why. I understand that the error usually occurs when the length of a string exceeds the limit allowed for a field in the database, but in this situation, that constraint should not apply. The length of the field for which I am trying to make the update is a varchar field of length 100. The value for which I am attempting to update is an e-mail address of length 42 of the format xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@yahoo.com. The initial insertion of the value (via my website) succeeded in inserting the first 40 characters of the address, but cut off the "om" at the end. It doesn't seem to matter how large I make the field in the database as it always gives me this error when I try to make the update. I have tried to change the value in both Query Analyzer and Enterprise Manager, but I invariably receive the same error.Any ideas?

I wrote a data mining plug-in algorithm in SSAS and now I am trying to view the lift chart in Management Studio. The studio gives the following error:

I need to recover some data in a table but i'm not 100% sure the right way to do this safely.
I'll need to query the two tables to compare the before and after but how do i go about restoring/attaching the backup database to SQL without causing conflicts?
If I restore, I assume this would just overwrite which is obviously the worst thing that can happen. if i attach the backup, how does this affect the current live DB? how do i make sure that it's not getting accessed and mistaken for the live DB?
