We are working on a some required report templates and we are in a some deadlock now... We need to desing report templates something like on the image below. There are some data at the left and top (grey rectangles) and dynamic information from a datasource in the middle (actually a list - green rectangles). Our idea was to use a subreport to design required list, but the problem is that subreport does not support multi-columns layout (really very 'interesting' limitation from Microsoft's guys)... Does somebody have a some ideas how to design this report using MS SQL Reporting Services 2005?
I have embedded a subreport in the detail section of my report. When I view the subreport in page preview mode it renders with three columns, but when it is rendered w/in the main report in page preview mode the 3 column layout is rendered as a single verticle column.
I've defined the columns in the Body/Columns. I have also set the report inteactivesize and pagesize heights in an attempt to remedy the issue. Margins are set to 0.
I am trying to create a report with a sub report in Sql Server 2012 using Report Builder Version 3. I can run the subreport without any problems. I read where using a shared connection can cause this error so both the main report and the subreport use a connection that is embedded in my report.
For testing, I created the subreport without a parameter and added it to the main report. When I ran it that way, the report worked and sub report displayed the data. So I know it can read from the database. It seems to only give me this error when I am trying to tie the two reports together using a parameter.
How do I hide a subreport if the parent report row containing the subreport is a certain value? I am attempting to create a statement with ageing buckets. In the main body of the report I have to display payments and invoices. If the invoice row is blank, I need to hide the row containing the subreport.
I have a multi-valued parameter that I want to pass to a subreport. The values are 11, 12, 13, and 14.
So here's what I've done:
1. For the properties of the clickable field of the first report, I have gone to the Navigation tab and chosen the subreport in the "jump to report" pulldown.
2. Then I clicked on the Parameters button and added a parameter name for the multi-valued parameter I am trying to send. For the Parameter value, I have tried 11,12,13,14. I have also tried =Split(11,12,13,14)
3. On the subreport, I create a report parameter with the same name, data type is string, multi-value is checked, and the available values pulldown is populated by a query.
So I run the first report and click on the link that brings me to the subreport, but all the subreport shows is the results for 11, not 12, 13, and 14.
How can I get the second report to understand that I want it to show all the records related to 11, 12, 13, and 14? If I bypass the first report and simply use the drop-down to choose 11, 12, 13, and 14 in the subreport, it works fine. I just can't seem to figure out how to correctly have the first report tell the subreport that it wants 11, 12, 13, and 14.
I have three types of specific reports that i have to create with the input parameters (range) either
1: By date (rdl 1)
2.By Month (rdl 2)
3.By Year (rdl 3)
Is it possible ( or how do I ) to create just one report template ( one rdl) with the three sets of parameters ( hiding/invisible which ever two sets base on user selection) and the output of the report will display the desired type( either by year, month or date).
I ask this because its possible to create a drill down report from year down to date etc in report designer (vs 2005). Not sure if I can create one instead of three rdls and with the 'logic' built within that template.
SQL Server DB; using Access ADP frontend; i have a report that shows companies; and a subreport that shows all the employees for that company and the committees they serve on.
There is a one to many between Committee and MemberContact
Committee Marketing Customer Service Membership
I would like to display in a subreport info like this Joe Blow - Marketing, Customer Service Jane Blow - Membership, Marketing
Which is a concatonation of the fields on the one side of the relationship. Possible? help appreciated.
HI I want to create a report template in SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. The template will have a fixed header and footer.I want to use this template in all my reports. How to do so?
I want to create a new report model project, however in VS Business intelligence Development Studio, I could find the report model template in the New project dialog box. Anyone coulf tell me how can I add the templeate? Thanks
I would like to be able to modify the basic report template offered by Report Builder , so as to be able to include custom fields that I would like to be present in every report (Company name , Logo , Date , etc) to achieve consistency in the presentation of the reports created with Report Builder
In Bob's Blog he explained how to include RDL expressions in Report Builder http://blogs.msdn.com/bobmeyers/archive/2006/03/26/561147.aspx
What I would like to do is to use that technique (if possible) to modify the original template or templates offered by Report Builder to include my own fields.
============================================
I will appreciate some comments or suggestions about other approaches that can be used to address the issue mentioned in the first paragraph .
is it possible to create a report server project template ? This project must have 2 datasources and 1 specific report I wanted to use the Export Template, but it isn't available. I can only use it in Developpement Studio not in BIDS.
I have problem with report. I create report that retrieve data depend on parameter that application pass to it. At first it worked fine. After couple of times that I run my report for different parameters for test results that I get, report start return only template without no data. I don't change nothing in report , but it stop to work right way even for parameters that I pass at first.
I have two report , first is main report which is matrix and have one parameter User_ids which is multi value selection and my second report is basic chart of user_wise performance.
Now, my main report (matrix ) works fine for Multiple selection of users and i have putted one textbox on main report chart which has action properties set for chart report, when user click on chart button it must goes to chart with user selected in main report. Now , i have used expression for parameter to send it like ..
=join(parameter!user_id!value,",") which pass selected value to chart
And when I am selecting single user it passing that value to chart parameter list but , when it is more than one user it errors with conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '121,128' to data type int. But my chart also works when passing 121,128 in user parameter in preview of report .
When I launch Visual Studio 2005 and choose to start a new project...I expect to see "Report Model" as an available template (at least that is what my book says).
How can I install this?
Why is it missing? Is it due to the order of my installations? I installed RS first then Visual Studio.
I desperately need to setup the AD-HOC reporting on SQL server 2005. I think one of the templates that I need is in Business Intelligent Project Templets Reporting Model Template in Visual Studio Templates.
But I do not see it in there. Can some one please let me know where can I get the Reporting Model Template, or a link to where I can download or how to create it.
Case: Exporting Report to PDF/Printing/TIFF Report: Contains 1 table with 19 Columns. 1 column is static, the other 18 are visible at the users descretion. Report when printed/exported to pdf spans 2 pages naturally, 16 on the first page, 3 on the second, and the column widths have been adjusted to provide a perfect page span .
User A elects to hide two of the columns, and show the rest. The report complies and the viewable version is perfect, the excel export is perfect.. the PDF export on the first page causes every fith column, starting with the last column that was hidden to be expanded to take up additional width. On the spanned page, it renders the first column on that page correctly, then there is a white space gap equal to the width of the hidden columns and then the rest of the cells show with the last column expanded to take up the same width that the original 2 columns were going to take up, plus its width.
We have tried several different settings to see if it helps this issue or makes it worse. So far cangrow/canshrink/keep together have made no impact. It is not possible to increase the page size due to limited page size selection availablility for the client. There are far too many combinations of what the user can elect to show or hide to put together different tables to show and hide on the same report to remove this effect.
Any help or suggestion on this issue would be appreciated
I am having a main report having two subreports, say M1,S1 and S2 respectively.
The issue is S2 normally tend to go beyond one page, for all pages except first page of the of the subreport I am getting the page header and footer blank,
Actually this is not loading the ReportItems that are used in main report but it shows text boxes containing strings for eg . "My Name" and date functions eg Today()
is it possible to have a kind of dynamic subreport in a main report.
Let me illustrate this with an example:
Next to my table i would like to have a window (subreport) that changes content whenever i click on a different value inside my table. In the subreport i would like to display detail information on specific cells in my table.
The report that I must create is related to the production order. Conceptually it can be seen as a tree. Where the root of the tree are the information Header of the production order. The principals children of the Root are the Operations and the Requirements to produce such order. For every Operation they are printed the Plants that are used and the Alternative Resources to effect the production.
There is a method to create a multilevel report? I think that is not for nothing logical to create a single table containing many heterogenous fields because it would have to repeat already numerous information at the changing of a field. I have created one datatable for every entity and I have tried to use subreport control, but evidently mistake in something. In order to obtain the wanted result (for example to print the Order production Head information if the report jump at new page) I have tried to combine the use of List control, Table control and Subreport control in file rdlc, but I have not found the just combination. Someone of you has already had to crare a multilevel report? Is possible to create a sub-subreport structure?
I have do that in VB.NET with ReportViewer local mode. I have posted the topic in this section because the problem of designe report is the same with local mode and remote mode.
What we've found is that when you have two reports where one navigates to the other, if you click on the second page of the second report, it takes you to the second page of the original report. If you navigate over to the subreport again and click for the second page, it works appropriately. This is definitely a no-go for production code and this may delay our ship date because I would think this is definitely undesirable.
Conditions:
ASP.NET Report Viewer using Remote Reports Report that links to another report Both reports return more than one page Reporting Services installed Steps to Reproduce:
Download the source code here.
Follow the directions (near the bottom of the post) to get the project set up.
Run it and click on a link in the first report to go to the second report.
Click the arrow for page 2 of the second report.
Notice how it takes you back to page 2 of the first report (this doesn't happen when you are in preview mode in the Reporting Services project and I don't believe it does this in a smart client application).
Click on a link in the first report to go back to the second report.
Click the arrow for page 2.
Notice how it takes you to page 2 of the second report.
Here is a link with source code and a more detailed explanation: http://geekswithblogs.net/robz/archive/2007/11/21/Reporting-Services-2005-BUG-Report-Linking-and-Paging---ASP.NET.aspx
So what I am looking for is both a workaround for now and if this is determined to be a bug, to be fixed in the next service pack.
I have a fairly complex report that was given to me that was hard coded for single parameters. There is a dropdown for each market (created from a query in SSRS). The users have to run for each market each week.
Is there a way to use this report as a Sub-report inside a list of a master report and then use a mult-value parameter?
I want this multi-value parameter to build the values for the list and then run the "sub-report" for each value.
How do I display multiple parameter values on report page from a multi-value report parameter. For example, I have a report parameter where users can select multiple attendance codes and I want them displayed at the top of the report after it's run.
Currently, only the first value is showing on the report.
I was wondering if anyone knew how to take a value from a subreport and compare it to a value iwthin the main report. We are trying to see if the value in the subreport is greater than the value returned in the main report. We want to make the value test red if it is greater than. I know how to compare these values if they were in the same report, but when it comes to subreports I am lost. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
I have 2 reports where 1 is a subreport and the other one is a main report. Can i change or refer to a control(item) in the main report depending on the value of an item in the subreport, when the subreport is being run?
I have a base folder (Report Folder A) which has several reports. One of these is a report that is simply a subreport of one of the others in the folder (it uses different default parameters, which is why it's necessary).
I then created another folder (Report Folder B) for users who only have access to some of the data in the reports...so they have browser access to Folder B but not Folder A. All of the reports for the users work except for the one that contains the subreport. When I run the report with a subreport I get the message: "Error: Subreport could not be shown". I'm guessing this is because the users don't have access to the base report. Does anyone have an idea of how to work around this without giving the users access to the base report (in Folder A)?
Is there anyway that i can access subreport field in main report? I just want it to be displayed. Thats it. I can not put subreport field in main report bcz it is based on the parameter passed by main report.
Here's my problem. I have a subreport that shows data and labels if data is returned. However, if no data is returned, the subreport doesn't show at all. I have a message on the subreport I would like to show if no data is returned, but the subreport won't show at all. Any ideas??
