Consistency Error On Merge Table Index

May 30, 2007

I'm getting the following error on our merge contents table in one of our DBs:

Msg 8952, Level 16, State 1, Line 1

CHECKTABLE found 0 allocation errors and 2 consistency errors in table 'MSmerge_contents' (object ID 1950682047).
repair_fast is the minimum repair level for the errors found by DBCC CHECKTABLE (ks241.dbo.MSmerge_contents ).

There are no other corruption issues on the server that I can find. I do not believe there are any current hardware issues, though I am not on site.

What would be the best way to resolve this? Is recreating or defrag/rebuild the index an option, here? Or can I just run a repair on this? Since it's a merge table, I'm a little gun shy, having limited experience with replication.

Thanks.

How To Add A Missing Index To A Table In Merge Replication?

Jul 23, 2005

One of the table that is in a merge replication somehow is missing anindex. Strangely, only the table in one of the subscriber of the mergereplication is missing the index; another subscriber and the publisherof the merge replication don't have this problem. How should I add the missing index back to that table? My understandingis that making structural change on a table that is inmerge-replication is different from making change on a table that isnot merge-replicated. For example, when we need to add a column into atable that is being merge-replicated, we must add the column bychanging the attributes in the properties of the published article(table) instead of simply using CREATE INDEX command. I am wonderingwhether there is a similar restriction on adding an index onto a tablethat is merge replicated.I have already added the index back to the table anyway. I am askinghere just in case doing this may get me into a problem later on.Thanks in advance for any info.Jay Chan

Merge Replication: Unique Index Error 1505

Mar 23, 2002

We are currently attempting to (Merge) replicate a database between 2 servers; distributor and subscriber. Apparently there are no Primary Keys in the database, and without the input of the developers, we can only assume that data integrity must be maintained by the application and the database is somewhat generic. In any case, what we are experiencing is that when we attempt to replicate, and you may know, you need PKs. Without any, SQL Server has utilized it's own (Row GUIDs). The Snapshot worked fine, but the merge agent reports error 1505.

The error is "CREATE UNIQUE INDEX terminated because a duplicate key was found for index ID %d. Most significant primary key is '%S_KEY'."

The fix and workaround are SP2 and deselecting Unique in the index propoerties of the index raising the error. We already had SP2 on the system. Tried the other and still the same issue occurs.

Microsoft's Knowledgebase has nothing. Any suggestions or fixes would be greatly appreciated.

Consistency Error.

OS & SQL Version:
SELECT @@VERSION
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.2039 (Intel X86) May 3 2005 23:18:38 Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Edition on Windows NT 5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 4)

It's a working database. It's set up to make a backup every night at 4:15 AM when the load is minimal. When making a backup it should run DBCC CHECKDB without any repair option on. One day i got a notification that backup didn't completed. I checked the errorlogs for the day between last successful backup and the next one failed. Logs are clean.

Here is the result of "DBCC CHECKDB WITH NO_INFOMSGS, ALL_ERRORMSGS":
Server: Msg 8951, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Table error: Table 'Sessions' (ID 398624463). Missing or invalid key in index 'PK_Sessions' (ID 2) for the row:

CHECKDB found 0 allocation errors and 1 consistency errors in table 'Sessions' (object ID 398624463).
CHECKDB found 0 allocation errors and 1 consistency errors in database 'Accounting'.
repair_fast is the minimum repair level for the errors found by DBCC CHECKDB (Accounting ).

Not sure if sp_helpindex results are necessary, but may be it will help:
IX_Sessions_LoginTimenonclustered located on PRIMARYLoginTime
IX_Sessions_NasIpnonclustered located on PRIMARYNasIp
IX_Sessions_NasSessionIdnonclustered located on PRIMARYNasSessionId
IX_Sessions_Usernonclustered located on PRIMARYUserId
PK_Sessionsnonclustered, unique, primary key located on PRIMARYSessionId
Sessions0nonclustered located on PRIMARYLoginTime, BytesIn

REPAIR_FAST does not help. The error isn't cleared.
I have two questions about that issue.
1) How i can dig into that problem? For example i would like to simply look at the row causing problems, but i just don't know how to select rows referencing them by RID. Is it piossible? Actually i don't quite understand what DBCC output means. :(
2) Second question is of course how to correct that problem. :)

Of course i can restore from backup, but i'd like to know if there are other ways? Maybe without loosing all the information which was entered during the day? I can afford loosing several rows from that table, but loosing all info entered is not very good solution. No, i don't need backup strategy involving several DB backup during the day. :) Just don't want to reenter all the info, but it can be done if there are no other ways. :)

Internal Consistency Error

Feb 13, 2007

I have been running log shipping for more than a year now and it has been very successful until just recently. For some reason the SQL Agent jobs that backup the database, ship it across the network to a standby server and restore it are failing. On the source server the backup process is running, the log shipping is running however when it tries to restore it on the destination server it fails with the following error:

SQL Server Help file: Help context: 0 Error Detail Records: Error: -2147217900 (80040E14); Provider Error: 3013 (BC5) Error string: RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally. Error source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server Help file: Help context: 0 Error: -2147217900 (80040E14); Provider Error: 3270 (CC6) Error string: An internal consistency error occurred. Contact Technical Support for assistance. Error source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server Help file: Help context: 0 Error: 0 (0); Provider Error: 3211 (C8B) Error string: 10 percent restored. Error source: Microsoft OLE DB Prov... Process Exit Code 1. The step failed.

If I delete the database on the destination server, re-run the sql agent job that ships the backup job, and re-run the restore job on the destination server the process will succeed without error. This tells me the original backup was fine but something may have been lost during the shipping. Have you ever seen this message before? What does it mean and what should I be looking at to resolve the error?

Thank you.

repair_allow_data_loss is the minimum repair level for the errors found by DBCC CHECKTABLE (msdb.dbo.sysdtssteplog ).

Is this a DTS package or log file I can just remove, or can I just somehow remove that data from the table? I ask this because all the DTS packages seem to be running (and logging) fine.

Or will this involve restore and replace? What direction should I go from here?

I have not seen any hardware errors on this machine. Yet.

Thanks for any and all help.

Restore Fails With Internal Consistency Error

I am trying to restore a production database backup to a new location on a development workstation, and it fails with "An internal consistency error occurred, Contact Support". When I tried this on a more powerful workstation it ran without a hitch. The db is about 1.5GB, and I think the dev workstation may be running out of resources during the restore. I stopped non-essential services and ran from TSQL, and it still fails. Any suggestions other than getting a better workstation?

Thanks,

Table Error: Object ID XX, Index ID X. Keys

Jan 2, 2008

I have a problem with multiple databases on a server. I originally read another post that went into detail on this same error. After reading the post I decided to re-index the table to see if that would fix my issue. I started on Saturday by re-indexing a table on database 'a' - the process completed after that; I received another error on database 'b' on Monday i subsequently re-indexed all indexes on this database; today I have received the same message on database 'c' and 'd'. All post that I have read seem to point to an issue with only one database and not multiple databases. I have approximately 100 databases on this cluster - SQL 2000. The physical server logs only error shown is '000009ac.00001744::2007/12/29-15:12:58.848 ERR [CP] CppReadCheckpoint unable to copy file U:Disk12Partition1d61e68e-a60f-4ca6-b9ae-df3b893e4bb20000001.CPT to C:DOCUME~1mscsLOCALS~1TempCLS302F.tmp, error 3

Here is the entire error if you think it will help. The error has been the same on all databases: 12/28/2007 6:23 AM A possible database consistency problem has been detected on database ‘ substituted_name'. DBCC CHECKDB and DBCC CHECKCATALOG should be run on database 'substituted_name'..

When I run the DBCC CHECKDB command I got these errors on Substite name database:
DBCC results for 'FVD_A'.
Msg 2511, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Table error: Object ID 165575628, Index ID 2. Keys out of order on page (1:12743984), slots 97 and 98.
There are 72920059 rows in 2281375 pages for object 'FVD_A'.

Table error: Object ID 181575685, Index ID 2. Keys out of order on page (1:7250519), slots 30 and 31.

I am at a loss. I believe we may have a bigger issue, but the SAN Administrator and Server Admin are saying there is nothing they can do. Do I have a true SQL Server issue or something else.

Merge Replication And FullText Index

Oct 5, 2007

We are designing a scenario in which we will have a central publisher and several subscribers in a server to server environment using Merge replication. We also will have a fulltext index for one of the tables being replicated and synchronized. What are your recommendations for the index? Would auto change tracking reduce the impact? We are building for a possible 1 billion row table but do not anticipate more than 100K rows at any time of replication.

URGENT - Failure On Database Restore - Internal Consistency Error Occurred

Sep 13, 2007

We have received a backup of a database from an external company for a project that we are taking over. We have attempted to restore the database and it fails giving us the error: "Internal consistency error occurred."

We have run the restore verifyonly command with the results: "The backup set is valid." However, I don't have confidence that the verify is telling the complete story.

It appears that the database is restored and the overall restore is failing on the transaction log file.

Any help is appreciated. This is rather urgent.

The Index Entry For Row ID Was Not Found In Index ID 3, Of Table 357576312

Jul 9, 2004

Hi,

I'm running a merge replication on a sql2k machine to 6 sql2k subscribers.
Since a few day's only one of the merge agents fail's with the following error:

The merge process could not retrieve generation information at the 'Subscriber'.
The index entry for row ID was not found in index ID 3, of table 357576312, in database 'PBB006'.

All DBCC CHECKDB command's return 0 errors
I'm not sure if the table that's referred to in the message is on the distribution side or the subscribers side? A select * from sysobjects where id=357576312 gives different results on both sides . .

Any ideas as to what is causing this error?

Advantages Of Using Nonclustered Index After Using Clustered Index On One Table

Jul 3, 2006

Hi everyone,
When we create a clustered index firstly, and then is it advantageous to create another index which is nonclustered ??
In my opinion, yes it is. Because, since we use clustered index first, our rows are sorted and so while using nonclustered index on this data file, finding adress of the record on this sorted data is really easier than finding adress of the record on unsorted data, is not it ??

How To Merge Table

May 31, 2008

Hi, I have 4 tables,

create tbl_Header (Rec_ID int)
create tbl_Header_Details (Rec_ID int, type_id int, desc varchar(20))
create tbl_type (type_id int)
create tbl_series (type_id int, series_id int)

tbl_Header links to header details by Rec_ID, which is 1 to many
tbl_Header_Details link to tbl_type by type_id, which is 1 to many tbl_type link to tbl_series by type_id, which is 1 to many

how to merge these tables to create a tmp table with only distinct record on rec_id, and generate new column based on the number of series_id it has. Rec_id should not have repeated.

Please help!

Merge Publication Error

Mar 7, 2001

Hi,
I disabled a merge publication on my server. I then ran sp_removedbreplication to clean the system tables. Thats fine. When I recreate a new publication on my server now, I still get the red x on my publisher node in my replcation monitor from the error I was getting before. Evenm though this publication is error free. Is it saving an srror flag in one of the sytem tabbles

Any ideas on this?
Thanks

Merge Replication Error

Aug 25, 2006

Replication-Replication Merge Subsystem: agent TRPSQL3-ThomsonResearch-TR Pub-TRPSQL2-4 failed. The merge process was unable to deliver the snapshot to the Subscriber. If using Web synchronization, the merge process may have been unable to create or write to the message file. When troubleshooting, restart the synchronization with verbose history log

I am getting the above error in Merge Replication. any one having any idea pls let me know.

Thanks & Regards,

Kasi.

Merge Agent Error

Apr 27, 2006

Hi

We are using HTTPS merge replication.

One of my subscribers is getting this error:

Error messages:

The Merge Agent failed after detecting that retention-based metadata cleanup has deleted metadata at the Publisher for changes not yet sent to the Subscriber. You must reinitialize the subscription (without upload). (Source: MSSQL_REPL, Error number: MSSQL_REPL-2147199402)

This is a bit surprising - it has been working fine - and also there were no changes at the publisher (it only has one article in this publication - a stored proc)

Why would this have happened ? The retention period is 45 days and they synchronised successfully only a few days prior.

thanks

Merge Repl. Error OS 3

Jul 12, 2007

I am trying to set up a merge replication between SQL 2005 and SQL Express. When I try to apply the snapshot to the SQL Express database. I get the error "Can not access filepathSnapshot.pre due to error OS 3"

Does anyone know what OS error 3 applies to?

Also, when I try to place the snapshop in the default folder location say D:ReplicationData the create snapshot process will work. If I try to place the snapshot folder not in the default and in a UNC like this \serverIPReplicationData I get an access error. sqlAgent has access to the share, which is fully shared out. Any ideas?
