I have >200 tables and I want to create a table that lists the name of
each table, the number of records, and the number of locations within
the table.
I've created a cursor to do this but it doesn't like it. I get the
following error.
Invalid column name '<tablename>'.
Here's my script
DECLARE @tbl varchar(100)
DECLARE @sql varchar(1000)
-- Insert statements for procedure here
declare c_table cursor for
select table_name from INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLES where table_type =
'base table' order by table_name
open c_table
fetch next from c_table into @tbl
while (@@fetch_status = 0)
begin
set @SQL = 'INSERT INTO [zzTable_Status]
SELECT ('+ @tbl +') as tblname, count(distinct station__no),
count(station__no)
FROM [bronze_views].'+@tbl+''
exec (@SQL)
Print @tbl + ' Updated'
fetch next from c_table into @tbl
end
close c_table

I would like some help creating a view that will display the latest status for each application. The lastest status should be based on CreateDt. For example: Table Structure: ============ Application: ApplicationID, Name, Address, City, State, Zip, etc.. ApplicationAction: ApplicationActionID, ApplicationID, Status (Ex:new, reviewed, approved, closed), CreateDt
View should display: ============== ApplicantID, ApplicantActionID, Status, CreateDt
We are having trouble figuring out how to create a view for this scenario:
We have a status log table that holds an order number, statusdatetime, and statuscode. This table will have multiple status' for the same order number. I want to create a view that will give me the most current status (by statusdatetime) of each order number. This view would show: order number, statusdatetime, and statuscode.
I need to create a basic report that displays the userid, username, email, status and need to update the status column to enabled when we select any particular username. And the username parameter comes from the available users from the database. How to do this?
Do I need to mention the where clause where username=@username in the query or we don't need any
Also I need to get the available distinct usernames from the database while entering the parameter username
/*DECLARE variables to use IN queries*/ DECLARE @intErrorCode INT DECLARE @ErrorMessage VARCHAR(MAX) DECLARE @UserID INT SET @ErrorMessage = 'Completed.' SELECT [userid] ,
[code].....
Basically first I need to find the userid, username, accountstatus, email for a given particular user. Then I need to update the accountstatus to enabled for that selected user.
Also I need to create auditing that from before update and after update the accountstatus.
Within the sysusers table there is a field named status... All the users has this field set to 2. However there is a particular user and the status for this user is set to 14. Does anyone knows what this means... i.e. why the status field is not set to 2 as it is for the other users?
I have a table like above where cid is unique but status is not for all the status id i need put 1 as they sent out .but till now i used max listindex because they used to send files sequentially but now list index is random so how to update sent to 1 for all the status ids.
I want to know the status of an index whether it is corrupted or it needs to be reindexed etc ?
I used the sp_MShelpindex tablename stored procedure to retrieve the status also. In the status column it is showing as 0,2 and 2000 values . what are these values ?
In my SSIS program I have a main package that calls bunch of packages step by step. I would like to find out how can I capture the status of each task once its done and insert the value whether its "success" or "failure" into a sql server table.
I want to produce a summary table of amounts per status per user.
I have 2 tables:
Invoices:
Code: user_id, amount, status 1, £10, S 2, £20, P 3, £30, P 3, £40, E
Users:
Code: user_id, name 1, user A 2, user B 3, user C
And I want to produce a summary table like this:
Code: S P E Total user A £10 £10 user B £20 £20 user C £30 £40 £70
What I have is:
Code: SELECT Users.name, (SELECT SUM(amount) FROM Invoices AS t1 WHERE t1.user_id = Invoices.user_id AND (t1.status = 'S')), (SELECT SUM(amount) FROM Invoices AS t1 WHERE t1.user_id = Invoices.user_id AND (t1.status = 'P')), (SELECT SUM(amount) FROM Invoices AS t1 WHERE t1.user_id = Invoices.user_id AND (t1.status = 'E')), (SELECT SUM(amount) FROM Invoices AS t1 WHERE t1.user_id = Invoices .user_id AND (t1.status IN ('S','P','E'))) FROM Invoices LEFT JOIN Users ON Users.user_id = Invoices .user_id GROUP BY Invoices.user_id, Users.name ORDER BY Users.name
This does give me what I want, however the real situation has lots of status codes, many more fields in the Invoices table, hundreds of users and hundred of thousands of records in the Invoice table and I have run out of system memory.
I have a table which i use to queue messages in. in this table there is a status column along with all the other message colums (ID, body, phone, time, etc). I use tinyint to express the diffrent status values (my frist question is, should i continue using tinyint, or is there some sort of enum, or another suggestion?). the value 1 means its a new message. An external process polls this table and pics up messages that are new.
Some messages fail, and so their status is changed to two. An external post process comes along and does what it needs to with messages that have status' which it handles, for example message failures, it might erase it, or change its status back to 1.
I expect to handle thousands of messages per hour. Should I create another table, which has only id and status as columns. And when a message fails I will place it in here instead of placing it in my original table. then the post process only polls this table and joins with my main table. instead of having both processes poll the single table. Would this be more efficient for sql internal seraching? since it has a smaller table to search in? or does it not make a diffrence.
I have a text file which needs to be created into a table (let's call it DataFile table). For now I'm just doing the manual DTS to import the txt into SQL server to create the table, which works. But here's my problem....
I need to extract data from DataFile table, here's my query:
select * from dbo.DataFile where DF_SC_Case_Nbr not like '0000%';
Then I need to create a new table for the extracted data, let's call it ExtractedDataFile. But I don't know how to create a new table and insert the data I selected above into the new one.
Also, can the extraction and the creation of new table be done in just one stored procedure? or is there any other way of doing all this (including the importation of the text file)?
I'm trying to create a proc for granting permission for developer, but I tried many times, still couldn't get successful, someone can help me? The original statement is:
Can I dynamically (from a stored procedure) generatea create table script of all tables in a given database (with defaults etc)a create view script of all viewsa create function script of all functionsa create index script of all indexes.(The result will be 4 scripts)Arno de Jong,The Netherlands.
I have some code that dynamically creates a database (name is @FullName) andthen creates a table within that database. Is it possible to wrap thesethings into a transaction such that if any one of the following fails, thedatabase "creation" is rolledback. Otherwise, I would try deleting on errordetection, but it could get messy.IF @Error = 0BEGINSET @ExecString = 'CREATE DATABASE ' + @FullNameEXEC sp_executesql @ExecStringSET @Error = @@ErrorENDIF @Error = 0BEGINSET @ExecString = 'CREATE TABLE ' + @FullName + '.[dbo].[Image] ( [ID][int] IDENTITY (1, 1) NOT NULL, [Blob] [image] NULL , [DateAdded] [datetime]NULL ) ON [PRIMARY] TEXTIMAGE_ON [PRIMARY]'EXEC sp_executesql @ExecStringSET @Error = @@ErrorENDIF @Error = 0BEGINSET @ExecString = 'ALTER TABLE ' + @FullName + '.[dbo].[Image] WITHNOCHECK ADD CONSTRAINT [PK_Image] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [ID] ) ON[PRIMARY]'EXEC sp_executesql @ExecStringSET @Error = @@ErrorEND
For reasons that are not relevant (though I explain them below *), Iwant, for all my users whatever privelige level, an SP which createsand inserts into a temporary table and then another SP which reads anddrops the same temporary table. My users are not able to create dbo tables (eg dbo.tblTest), but arepermitted to create tables under their own user (eg MyUser.tblTest). Ihave found that I can achieve my aim by using code like this . . .SET @SQL = 'CREATE TABLE ' + @MyUserName + '.' + 'tblTest(tstIDDATETIME)'EXEC (@SQL)SET @SQL = 'INSERT INTO ' + @MyUserName + '.' + 'tblTest(tstID) VALUES(GETDATE())'EXEC (@SQL)This becomes exceptionally cumbersome for the complex INSERT & SELECTcode. I'm looking for a simpler way.Simplified down, I am looking for something like this . . .CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.TestInsert ASCREATE TABLE tblTest(tstID DATETIME)INSERT INTO tblTest(tstID) VALUES(GETDATE())GOCREATE PROCEDURE dbo.TestSelect ASSELECT * FROM tblTestDROP TABLE tblTestIn the above example, if the SPs are owned by dbo (as above), CREATETABLE & DROP TABLE use MyUser.tblTest while INSERT & SELECT usedbo.tblTest.If the SPs are owned by the user (eg MyUser.TestInsert), it workscorrectly (MyUser.tblTest is used throughout) but I would have to havea pair of SPs for each user.* I have MS Access ADP front end linked to a SQL Server database. Forreports with complex datasets, it times out. Therefore it suit mypurposes to create a temporary table first and then to open the reportbased on that temporary table.
Hi Minor and inconsequential but sometimes you just gotta know: Is it possible to define a non-primary key index within a Create Table statement? I can create a constraint and a PK. I can create the table and then add the index. I just wondered if you can do it in one statement. e.g. I have: CREATE TABLE MyT (MyT_ID INT Identity(1, 1) CONSTRAINT MyT_PK PRIMARY KEY Clustered, MyT_Desc Char(40) NOT NULL CONSTRAINT MyT_idx1 UNIQUE NONCLUSTERED ON [DEFAULT])which creates a table with a PK and unique constraint. I would like (pseudo SQL):CREATE TABLE MyT (MyT_ID INT Identity(1, 1) CONSTRAINT MyT_PK PRIMARY KEY Clustered, MyT_Desc Char(40) NOT NULL CONSTRAINT MyT_idx1 UNIQUE INDEX NONCLUSTERED ON [DEFAULT]) No big deal - just curious :D Once I know I can stop scouring BOL for clues. Tks in advance
i am inserting something into the temp table even without creating it before. But this does not give any compilation error. Only when I want to execute the stored procedure I get the error message that there is an invalid temp table. Should this not result in a compilation error rather during the execution time.?
--create the procedure and insert into the temp table without creating it. --no compilation error. CREATE PROC testTemp AS BEGIN INSERT INTO #tmp(dt) SELECT GETDATE() END
only on calling the proc does this give an execution error
I have SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMS Express) and SQL Server 2005 Express (SS Express) installed in my Windows XP Pro PC that is on Microsoft Windows NT 4 LAN System. My Computer Administrator grants me the Administror Privilege to use my PC. I tried to use SQLQuery.sql (see the code below) to create a table "LabResults" and insert 20 data (values) into the table. I got Error Messages 102 and 156 when I did "Parse" or "Execute". This is my first time to apply the data type 'decimal' and the "VALUES" into the table. I do not know what is wrong with the 'decimal' and how to add the "VALUES": (1) Do I put the precision and scale of the decimal wrong? (2) Do I have to use "GO" after each "VALUES"? Please help and advise.
Thanks in advance,
Scott Chang

I’ve got a situation where the columns in a table we’re grabbing from a source database keep changing as we need more information from that database. As new columns are added to the source table, I would like to dynamically look for those new columns and add them to our local database’s schema if new ones exist. We’re dropping and creating our target db table each time right now based on a pre-defined known schema, but what we really want is to drop and recreate it based on a dynamic schema, and then import all of the records from the source table to ours.It looks like a starting point might be EXEC sp_columns_rowset 'tablename' and then creating some kind of dynamic SQL statement based on that. However, I'm hoping someone might have a resource that already handles this that they might be able to steer me towards.Sincerely, Bryan Ax
I would like to create a procedure which create views by taking parameters the table name and a field value (@Dist).
However I still receive the must declare the scalar variable "@Dist" error message although I use .sp_executesql for executing the particularized query.
Below code.
ALTER Procedure [dbo].[sp_ViewCreate] /* Input Parameters */ @TableName Varchar(20), @Dist Varchar(20) AS Declare @SQLQuery AS NVarchar(4000) Declare @ParamDefinition AS NVarchar(2000)

Hi all, please help. I m trying to create an "empty" table from existing table for the audit trigger purpose. For now, i am trying to create an empty audit table for every table in a database named "pubs", and it's seem won't work. Please advise.. Thanks in advance.
SELECT @TABLE_NAME= MIN(TABLE_NAME) FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLES WHERE TABLE_TYPE= 'BASE TABLE' AND TABLE_NAME NOT LIKE 'audit%' AND TABLE_NAME!= 'sysdiagrams' AND TABLE_NAME!= 'Audit' AND TABLE_NAME = 'sales'

I am trying to create a new mining structure with case table and nested table, the case table (fact table) has alread defined the relationships with the nested table(dimension table), and I can see their relationship from the data source view. But why the wizard for creating the new mining structure showed that message? Why is that? And what could I try to fix it?
Hope it is clear for your help.
Thanks a lot for your kind advices and I am looking forward to hearing from you shortly.
I'd like to create a temporary table with the same schema as an exiting table. How can I do this without hard coding the column definitions into the temporary table definition?
I'd like to do something like:
CREATE TABLE #tempTable LIKE anotherTable
..instead of...
CREATE TABLE #tempTable (id INT PRIMARY KEY, created DATETIME NULL etc...
my stored procedure have one table variable (@t_Replenishment_Rpt).I want to create an Index on this table variable.please advise any of them in this loop... below is my table variable and I need to create 3 indexes on this...
I am extracting data from SQL Server 2005 to flat file destination. I am using SQL Command to specify the data selection query. One of my query uses Replicate function to derive a column value. When I execute this package it fails with the error "Data conversion failed. The data conversion for column "value" returned status value 4 and status text "Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page".
The reason for the problem is that, it is taking the InputColumnWidth of the flat file destination as 8000 and I specified the OutputColumnWidth as 4.
If I change the OutputColumnWidth to 8000, it is working without any error but resulting in the column width of 8000.
I tried using DerivedColumn Transformation's Type cast and DataConversion Transformation but still I am getting the same error in the respective Transformation components.
