How dow you schedule a file(.dtsx)(I think it is a package) that was created in the SQL Server BI Design Studio to run? I can locate the file I created in SQL Server Management Studio and see it in the right hand pane and even edit it. I can run it in the Design Studio, but cant see how to do that in Management Studio nor how to schedule it.
This is my first attempt at recreating a DTS package using SQL Server tools instead of the Legacy conversion wizard, and I think my brain has overheated. I just cant find it on the Management Screen or the Design. I am also not searching correctly anymore on books online because I cannot find it.

It sounds unbelievable that I can not schedule the DTS packages I created either on my local mechine or SQL server. I have the SA permission for all SQL servers and I can run the DTS packages manually in the EM or run it on DOS command line using dtsrun utility.
The error message I got says: "Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC SQL State: 42000) [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server][SQL Server] login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: not associated with a trusted Server connection.". I have the SP2 installed in all the SQL Server and my local mechine. All SQLAgents have Domain Admin permission. I just cound not figure out where that user 'null' come from.
I really appreciate that anyone can give me some hints to make the DTS scheduling work. Thanks!
Hi, Instead of runing a report through the schedule that I have created, I am invoking the SQL Agent Job that has been created for the schedule of the report, using the system stored procedure sp_startjob. Is this a recommended approach? Are there drawbacks for this approach? Subash
I experienced a weird error while deploying my SSIS package. After running the manifest file, i noticed that one of the configuration file's path was not updated in the dtsx file. My solution has 8 packages and almost every package has 2 configuration files. Except 1 file every other config file's path is being updated. Has anybody experieced such a problem?
Ok, I'm actually adding a SSIS job to my job agent on my test SQL server. Noticed that when I go to my job agent --> add new job, under the steps option, I click new. this then takes me to the new job step window. When I select
Type as SQL Server Integrated Services, I then see some new tabs at the bottom of the form. Under package source I can select File System, SQL Server, or SSIS Package Store, then I have to select the location of the dtsx file.
So my question is, since I can select the actual file (package) I want to run from here, do I really have to import a package to the file system or MSDB under the SQL Integration Services on the server?
It appears to me that its kind of the same thing.

This is the situation: I've a dtsx package wich creates a tab delimited txt file from a sql server 2005 databasetable. Now this all works just fine. But what I want to do is that the user can choose the destination path of that created txt-file. Right now I've declared the path when I created the flat file source.
On the net I found that a config file for a dts package (sql server 2000 - Dynamic Property Task) could do the trick...
I am having trouble with a dtsx package to truncate a table, then insert the contents of a .csv file. The package is being executed off the local filesystem, reading a csv on the same file system, and inserting into a remote SQL 2k5 server. If I run the package alone in BI it will run perfectly, if I implement the package into a console app in visual studio, it will trunc the table, but will not insert any of the data in the csv file. When running from DtExec I recieve the following error on the CSV portion after the table is truncated:
Code: 0xC00470FE Soure: Data Flow Task DTS.Pipeline Description: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PRODUCTLEVELTOLOW. The product level is insufficient for for componenet "Soure - My_File_CSV" (1).
I have tried all the work arounds I can find without any luck. All help will be appreciated.
I create a ssis package with have connection DB2 (I install ibm_data_server_client_win32_V97 in server) in sql2008 (run ok). I deployment in SQL 2012. When i run with Visual Studio or run direct package (*.dtsx). File run OK.

So I've seen articles outlining how to execute a package in VB and how to pass variables along to the package, which is great.
But I'm wanting write a VB.NET app that will read the xml in a .dtsx package, looking for the available variables (and datatypes) that need to be passed to the package to configure it properly. Anyone done this? Is it best to use parent package variables? Or another type of configuration?
When looking at the xml of a .dtsx file, I can see a variables section that could be parsed... is there anything letting me know what is required versus optional? How do I know the datatype that I need to pass? Any help would be appreciated...

I have a package in which there are only one Data flow Task and it has only three components. 1) Source , which is a SQL db 2) destination and 3) OLE DB Destination flat file Error output file. I want the error file to be created ONLY if there is any error while dumping the data into destination DB. But , the issue is, the error flat file is being created inspite of No error while dumping the data from Source to Destination.

I'd need an help because I'm stucked!! I have to import an Excel file into my DB. The Excel file is made by 2 worksheets but I need only one and inside this worksheet I have to loop through the columns and for each column I define a Data Flow that trasform the data as necessary and then insert into the table.
I started with a "Foreach ADO.NET Schema Rowset Enumerator" with connection=excel file and the schema was set to "Columns" but the loop go also through the worksheet that I don't need..

I am trying to import some data from a csv file on a regular basis. This file, however, is stored on a website. I can't seem to find a way, either using DTS or a stored procedure to make this task simple. If the file is at http://www.mysite.com/import.csv is there anyway I can get DTS to download that file and import it into a new table?
Everyday, there are users FTP the text files to a directory in the server. During the night, a job will be run to import these text files to a table.
First, the job need to read the file name, then open the file, read the first line and insert to the table until then end of the file. Then the second file will be read ... until no more file to be read.

I am transferring data from an OLEDB source to a Flat File Destination and I want the column width for all of the output columns to 30 (max width amongst the columns selected), but that is not refected in the Fixed Width Flat File that got created. The outputcolumnwidth seems to be the same as the inputcolumnwidth. Is there any other setting that I am possibly missing or is this a possible defect?
I am getting a return code of 12 (""File not created"") from sp_trace_create. I have checked to ensure that the path is valid. I am using Windows Authentication and the Windows Administrator account. SQL Server is using the Windows userid that I created for SQL Server. I have verified (at least tried to verify) that the user for SQL Server has access to the folder containing it. Hi Guys, Im new using SSIS and i just created a data flow that reads from multiple flat files (with a mutipleflatfiles conn manager) and inserts the files data to an sql server (with an ole db destination)

Why reinvent the wheel if someone has already done this. I am creating a database that needs to return records for fuzzy matches on first names. I don't know what all forms of the names can be such as Robert, Bob, Bobby, Bert or Sue, Suzie, Susie, Susan, Suzanne, etc. and I am betting someone has created something already that can be a starting point at least.

Background: I've created an application to run on windows mobile 5.0 devices. It replicates to a publication on a server. To do this it goes through ASP.net. This creates the database on the Mobile Devices.
Issue: Problem is the initial download of the database is taking 2hours plus to replicate (create) for the first time. So I'm trying to create the .sdf file on the server, zip it, and send it across to the handheld. All subsequent replications take about 5 minutes.
Question: Does anyone know how, or have examples for creating a Mobile CE database on the server. I need to create it using ASP.net and go through a pre-existing publication where a hostname used for filtering.

Hi i have an web app demo that allows users to add info and change attributes within a SQL 2005 Express DB. I'd like to restore a clean copy of this database every couple of hours from a .bak file using a Windows scheduled task on the server. Has anyone got a .sql script for database restoration that i could use and call using a .cmd script file? Thanks.

In a recent attempt to keep the size of my transaction log files down I altered the schedule of my SQL Server log backups from running every 15 minutes from 07:00 to 19:00 to run every 15 minutes.My company also uses a Dell AppAssure application to also take backups. The backups are of the entire drives so I don't this will affect the size of my SQL log files but I did notice that AppAssure has a tick box to truncate the SQL logs so it made me wonder that it could affect the size of my log file. The Appassure backups currently run every 15 minutes from 07:00 to 19:00. I'm wondering if I would be able to maintain my log files at a smaller size if I ran this every 15 minutes from 07:00 to 07:00.
Hi allI have a question concerning sql database mdf files. In the old days I would user a ms access database. This file would be stored with the actual web files and would utilise a dsn connection. I have noted when designing with vwd 2005 express it allows you to use 2 methods of creating a mdf database. You can either create it as an attachment mdf or you can create it directly using sql manager. My question is, if you create the mdf database as an attachement file can you store it in the same manner as if you where using a ms access database, meaning can you store it with the web site's files so it uses the file storage allocated size and then create a connection similar to a dsn (but for sql) to the isp's sql engine or does it have to be uploaded to the isp' s sql server.The reason for this question is some of my customers do not want to pay the extra cost to have an sql allocation, however I do not want to go back to using old asp methods to create advanced sites as I prefer using stored procedures. Any help will be appreciated
I'm trying to fire a DTS package through a stored procedure. After running my one stored procedure I got my DTS file to create just fine. However after this point I'm stuck...I can't do anything else with this file and I need to update data with it. How would I use the DTS file to update my data. Thanks, RB

I want to use T-SQL to restore the physical file to a new name and location. Using the backup command, I get the error that I must use the with move option??

i am trying to run an exe using t-sql command and even through job, but it is giving me issues. But if i double click on the exe it runs fine.
For example i created a bat file just to make a directory - mkdir d:example double clicking it, a folder is created BUt through EXEC xp_cmdshell "D:ew.bat" it gives me error - 'D:ew.bat' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
and when i do with the job with command - @command=N'idhimahajanD$ew.bat', it gives an error on execution - Executed as user: NT ServiceSQLAgent$PAXAS. The process could not be created for step 1 of job 0x2FCDDE36F160CD4688D2ACE1D748A99E (reason: Access is denied). The step failed.
