Calling A Stored Procedure On Multiple Records
Apr 18, 2006I have a stored procedure on an SQL Server database which displays statistical data for a single record. The example below selects a user ID as a parameter and displays the user's name and the total amount of transactions he has made:

What I would like to do is create another stored procedure which calls this one for every user returned in a query, thus returning the same data for several users:

Is there a way to re-use a stored procedure within another, based on the results of a query?
Only Run Stored Procedure If Update Records Exist?
Oct 6, 2015I am trying to put together a Stored Procedure that runs other SP's based on a records found condition. Sometimes my update table either by deleting duplicates or for other reasons is empty. Running a SP to update records on a table is not needed.

Data Access :: MS Access ADODB Connection To Stored Procedure - Cannot Retrieve Data
Sep 22, 2015I'm trying to re-write my database to de-couple the interface (MS Access) from the SQL Backend. Â As a result, I'm going to write a number of Stored Procedures to replace the MS Access code. Â My first attempt worked on a small sample, however, trying to move this on to a real table hasn't worked (I've amended the SP and code to try and get it to work on 2 fields, rather than the full 20 plus).It works in SQL Management console (supply a Client ID, it returns all the client details), but does not return anything (recordset closed) when trying to access via VBA code.The Stored procedure is:-

Jan 31, 2008I have a SP that has the correct syntax. However when I run my web-app it gives me this error: "Only one expression can be specified in the select list when the subquery is not introduced with EXISTS. "
The procedure takes in three parameters and retrieves 23 values from the DB to display on my form.
Any ideas?
Debug Stored Procedure That Uses Comma Delimited List To Insert Multiple Records
Jan 18, 2006I need some help with a stored procedure to insert multiple rows into a join table from a checkboxlist on a form. The database structure has 3 tables - Products, Files, and ProductFiles(join). From a asp.net formview users are able to upload files to the server. The formview has a products checkboxlist where the user selects all products a file they are uploading applies too. I parse the selected values of the checkboxlist into a comma delimited list that is then passed with other parameters to the stored proc. If only one value is selected in the checkboxlist then the spproc executed correctly. Also, if i run sql profiler i can confirm that the that asp.net is passing the correct information to the sproc:

Problem In Data Access Though SQL Server Stored Procedure
Apr 17, 2008I have two database SOP and CRM. Both supports windows authentication and SOP suports sql authentication too. Now i have to write a SP in SOP database with identity impersonation (with superadmin authentication) which will do some work with this impersonated id on SOP database but needs to fetch some values from CRM with the current user account - not impersonated account.Lets clear... I want to show the orders generated by all users and in the display grid there is a column like "IsMyCustomer?" which will show the order is to a customer which i have access. In CRM (MS) if i select from FilteredCustomer view i will get the customersid of those under me. And if i left outer join with FilteredOrder view in SOP (with Super Admin windows credentials) which returns orders by current user i will get the desired result.Now the problem is i can't sent two connection credentials to a SP. So what i want is to connect SOP with user's windows credentials (not with impersonation) and from the SP we will Select data with Admin's account. But i don't know is there any way to connect to a linked server with a different credentials. Like when i am selecting from CRM server it will use different credentials.Remember i am using SQL server 2000 and everything should be done through a single SP.I know i can do this easily with two different select from Data access layer. But i am looking for some performance effectinve way. My PM wants this idea to be implemented. I have no chice guys....

I am currently developing my first database driven application and I have stumbled over some quite simple issue. I'll describe my database design first:
I have one table named images(id (identity), name, description) and one table named albums (id, name, description). Since I'd like to establish a n:n connection between these, I defined an additional table ImageInAlbum (idImage, idAlbum). The relation between these tables works as expected (primary keys, foreign keys appear to be ok).
Now I'd like to insert data via a stored procedure in sql server 2005 and I'm not sure how this procedure will look like.
To add a simple image to a given album, I am trying to do the following:
* Retrieve name, description from the UI
* Insert a new row into images with this data
* Get the ID from the newly created row
* Insert a new row into "ImageInAlbum" with the ID just retrieved and a fixed Id from the current album.
I know how I would do the first two things, but I am not used to Stored Procedures syntax yet to know how to do the other things.
Any help is appreciated ... even if it means telling me that I am doing something terribly wrong

I have a UI which supplies 16 parameters to my stored procedure , which in turn call another sored procedure on as400 which returns result set. So far i am able to send 16 parms and get the values in dataset.
My question here how would i send the result set to UI for display, please feel free to comment on any changes need to be made on code . I badly need to find a solution for this and i appreciate any feed backs

SQL Reporting Services Issue Using Multiple Parameters Where Data Is Passed In From A Stored Procedure

I have an issue with using multiple parameters in SQL Reporting services where data is passed in from a stored procedure
When running the report in design mode - I can type in a parameter sting and it runs fine
In the report preview screen I can select single parameters by ticking the drop down list and again it runs fine
as soon as I tick more than one I get an error
An error occurred during local report processing
Query execution failed for data set €˜data'
Must declare the scalar variable '@parameter'
Some info...
The dataset 'workshop' is using a sproc to return the data string?
I get multiple values back fine in the sproc using this piece of code

I have report parameters set to Multi-Value
Looking through the online books it says...
You can define a multivalued parameter for any report parameter that you create.
However, if you want to pass multiple parameter values back to a query, the following requirements must be satisfied:
The data source must be SQL Server, Oracle, or Analysis Services.
The data source cannot be a stored procedure. Reporting Services does not support passing a multivalued parameter array to a stored procedure.
The query must use an IN clause to specify the parameter.
Am I trying to do the impossible ?
Problem Use Sqldatasource To Access Stored Procedure And Get Data Bind To Label Control

I have a exist Stored Procedure in SQL 2005 Server, the stored procedure contain few output parameter, I have no problem to get result from output parameter to display using label control by using SqlCommand in Visual Studio 2003. Now new in Visual Studio 2005, I can't use sqlcommand wizard anymore, therefore I try to use the new sqldatasource control. When I Configure Datasource in Sqldatasource wizard, I assign select field using exist stored procedure, the wizard control return all parameter in the list with auto assign the direction type(input/ouput....), after that, whatever I try, I click on Test Query Button at last part, I always get error message The Query did not return any data table.
My Question is How can I setup sqldatasource to access Stored Procedure which contain output parameter, and after that How can I assign the output parameter value to bind to the label control's Text field to show on web?

Can I Use A SqlDataSource Control Exclusively To Pass Data To A Stored Procedure For Execution (insert/update Only)?

I'm reasonably new to ASP.NET 2.0
I'm in my wizard_FinishButtonClick event, and from here, I want to take data from the form and some session variables and put it into my database via a stored procedure. I also want the stored procedure to return an output value. I do not need to perform a select or a delete.
For the life of me, I can't find a single example online or in my reference books that tells me how to accomplish this task using a SqlDataSource control. I can find lots of examples on sqldatasources that have a select statements (I don't need one) and use insert and update sql statements instead of stored procedures (I use stored procedures).
I desperately need the syntax to:
a) create the SqlDataSource with the appropriate syntax for calling a stored procedure to update and/or insert (again, this design side of VS2005 won't let me configure this datasource without including a select statement...which I don't need).
b) syntax on how to create the parameters that will be sent to the stored procedure for this sqldatasource (including output parameters).
c) syntax on how to set the values for these parameters (again...coming from form controls and session variables)
d) syntax on how to execute, in the code-behind, the stored procedure via the sqldatasource.
If anybody has sample code or a link or two, I would be most appreciative.

Data Access :: Executing Stored Procedure From Excel VBA Seems To Lose Connection In Middle Of Sproc Execution
Jul 9, 2015I am running into an issue while executing a sproc from Excel VBA. Everything connects fine, and I am passing a parameter, however, after a few seconds, it seems like the connection receives a "completed" command and continues down it's code, but the sproc is still executing. The result is that I never receive the record set from the sproc.Here is the code snippet from VBA:

And here is the sproc that is being called. the first thing it performs after the "IF" block (there are multiple steps that would consecutively be called after this, but all of the data hinges on this first step working) is a TRUNCATE statement. After running a SQL profiler while executing the VBA code, I consistently see an "account log out" entry; almost as if the connection from the Excel workbook is sent a disconnect instruction. The sproc continues to run and perform the rest of the script in the "IF" block, but the returned recordset is never returned back to Excel.

Update Multiple Records From A Single ASP.NET Webpage

Let's say I have a database table that houses server information with four columns: make, model, serial #, ip address. And assume there are ten rows with that information filled out. How could I display all the rows of information on a single webpage (ASP.NET), with all the fields being editable; and a single save button that would send any changes to the database (in reality I guess it would be sending all rows and fields to the database, and just overwrite the previous data).
Could a page such as that be created using FrontPage 2003 or Dreamweaver MX 2004?
This would be strictly for updating information. I would have a separate form for adding a new entry.

Update Records Matching Multiple Criteria

I know this query will set 'blank' to missing when it matches the above websites. However if i wanted to set blank to 'missing' where mail1date is not null and mail2date is not null (keep going to mail18date not null) how exactly would i go about this?
I guess it would be a case of adding another bracket somewhere but im unsure?

Jul 23, 2015I need to update more than one record at once. I have ~ 100 records that I have to update and don't want to execute query 100 times.
My query looks like this:

Set Table1.field1 = ( select Table2.field1 from Table2 where Table2.field2 IN ('a', 'b', 'c')
where Table1.field2 IN ( 'a', 'b', 'c')
It obviously failed because subquery returned more than one value and error message stated that I can't use '=' operator in this case.
My question: how could I update the same column from many records in one execution?

Jan 16, 2007I am renovating an existing application and am converting the existing passwords into hashed values using SHA1. I know how to compute the hashed values as a byte array for each record. What I don't know how to do easily is update all of the records i a single call to the database. Normally, I would just do the following:UPDATE HashedPassword = someValue WHERE UserID = 101;
UPDATE HashedPassword = someOtherValue WHERE UserID = 102;
...
What I don't know is what someValue and someOtherValue should be. How do I convert my byte array into string representation that SQL will accept? I usually execute multiple statements using Dim oCmd as New SqlCommand(sSQL, MyConn) and then call oCmd.ExecuteNonQuery().

SQL Server 2012 :: Update Quantities Over Multiple Records?
Mar 25, 2015I have two tables that can be created with sample data using the DDL at the bottom of this post. What I'm looking to do is update the QtyReceived column in tblPurchaseOrderLineDetail from the Qty column in tblReceivedItems. However, the tricky part that I can't figure out is splitting these quantities out over multiple lines. I should only be allowed to receive up to the QtyOrdered column in tblPurchaseOrderLineDetail.
For a specific example from the sample data we'll look at PurchaseOrderDetailID 28526. From the tblReceivedItems, there are three records with quantities of 48, 48, and 20. From the tblPurchaseOrderLineDetail there are three records of QtyOrdered of 55, 45, and 20. What I would like to happen is fulfill the records in the tblPurchaseOrderLineDetail sequentially (essentially in order of ExpectedDate). So, the QtyReceived would be 55, 45, and 16 for the corresponding records. If there is already a quantity in the QtyReceived column, but it's less than the QtyOrdered column, the quantity needs to be added to the column (not overwritten).
