Deploying Report Via Visual Studio To Sharepoint - Error

Sep 7, 2007

Hi guys

I seem to be having a bit of trouble deploying my reports from my Reporting Services Project in Visual Studio to my Sharpoint server.

Both the reporting server and sharepoint are installed on the same server.

The settings within my reporting server are as follows (where report is the site name):

TrargetDataSourceFolder - https://server/Report/Shared Documents/DataSources

TrargetReportFolder - https://server/Report/Shared Documents

TrargetServerURL - https://server/Report

I have not yet changed over all my reports to use fully qualified urls yet. As we have multiple domains in which the reports need to go through before they hit the production server and i haven't yet decided how i am going to handle the issues of the reports requiring fully qualified addresses (if someone has a way i would love to know).

I was getting the following error when i tried to deploy the projects but i delete all extensions from the blocked file types and that error went away. I can only guess that there was a file type it didn't like.

Error - "The file you are attempting to save or retrieve has been blocked from this Web site by the server administrators."

When i deleted all the file extensions i now get the following error.

Error - "File Not Found."

Just wondering if anyone has had any success with visual studio and sharepoint deployment or run into this problem.

Thanks

Anthony

Deploying Assemblies Using Visual Studio Is Slow...

Feb 13, 2007

Hello,

I am using CLR integration to provide all the stored procedures for my project, but the issue I am finding is that deployment of my assembly and it's stored procedures (and two UDTs) is now starting to take so long that I am getting a timeout from SQL Server during deployment (with the default settings of 600 seconds remote connection timeout).

Is there a way to speed-up the deployment process?

I know I could employ a differing strategy of splitting the procedures into multiple assemblies, but I am more concerned that the legth of time used to deploy might indicate some other issues with my server.

By the way, my current assemly contains: 247 Stored Procedures, 7 User Defined Functions, and 2 User Defined Types.

Thanks,

Cannot Deploy Reports From Visual Studio To Sharepoint In Integrated Mode

Mar 6, 2007

Hi

Having finally managed to get over the hump of getting Sharepoint integrated mode working in a farm install, I am having a problem deploying reports from Visual Studio to Sharepoint.

I have set the deploy properties as follows:

TargetDataSourceFolder: http://ppdwn-bl10:8888/ReportTest/Data Sources
TargetReportFolder: http://ppdwn-bl10:8888/ReportTest/Harvest Reports
TargetServerURL: http://ppdwn-bl10:8888/

Visual Studio is updated to Service Pack 2, as is of course the report server.

The reports APPEAR to deploy - they actually appear in the document library after deployment! But the result is:

------ Build started: Project: Harvest Reports, Configuration: Debug ------
Build complete -- 0 errors, 0 warnings
------ Deploy started: Project: Harvest Reports, Configuration: Debug ------
Deploying to http://ppdwn-bl10:8888/
Deploying data source 'http://ppdwn-bl10:8888/ReportTest/Data Sources/ReportWarehouse.rsds'.

Unfortunately I cannot view the reports in Sharepoint - I can see them in the document library but when I click them I get the same error, except in the web browser. "Report Server has encountered a SharePoint error".

The Report Server log shows the following:

Reporting Services :: Chart Not Displayed After Deploying SSRS Report In Sharepoint Server

May 22, 2015

I have created a ssrs report using ssrs-2012 that contains 2 tables 2 pie charts and 1 line chart. But I am unable to see 2 pie charts and and 1 line chart after deploying the rdl in sharepoint server.

Why I am not able to see those charts, or sharepoint server will not support charts at all.

Reporting Services :: SSRS Report Runs In Visual Studio But Not Report Manager

Jul 5, 2012

I have written a report visual studio.  The report has 10 multi-value parameters that pull data from their individual data sets within the reports.  When running the report from within Visual Studio it renders fine.  There are no errors reported, only a warning related to a pathname I have use to retrieve image data and display on the report.Deployment of the report is error free. When I view the report I briefly get the "Loading" splash window, but then nothing.  None of the headers or static text is displayed.  The results window is blank.

The report defaults all the parameter values.  In trying to debug the issue I have found by reducing the number of parameter values the report will render.  Once I have all the values added, the report does nothing.Below is the query being used for the report.  The where clause in the query shows the parameters being used and the syntax. We are running on Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2.

How Do I Get Visual Studio To Open A Deployed Report?

Aug 9, 2007

Greetings,
I have a report that was previously deployed to a reporting services host (running Reporting Services 2005 SP2) and I'm running the version of Visual Studio that came with reporting services on the same reporting serviceshost. The deployed report was never opened on this particular server, so it doesn't appear in the recent files list. Is there a trick to open a deployed report in all of Visual Studio's report editing glory? Visual Studio has a File Open option to open an analysis services database, a project, or a file. A "deployed report" seems to be none of these options since it's an RDL file stored somewhere that IIS can find it. I know that I can use Report Manager and export the RDL for the report and then edit that RDL file in Visual Studio, but doing that appears to disable all of Visual Studio's report editing features (ie it works no better than notepad). What's the trick to get Visual Studio to open the deployed report and allow all of it's editing tools to work properly and then save the updated report back to the reporting services server?

Thanks,
Ron

Report Definition Error When Deploying Report To RS 2000 In VS .NET 2003

Jan 15, 2007

Using MS SQL 200 SP4 with Reporting Services 2000 SP2 on Win 2003 Server SP1

Visual Studio .NET 2003 on different PC (Win XP SP2)

No problem creating reports or building solutions.
Problems develop when deploying report to Report Server.

Here is the Output:

------ Build started: Project: From CD, Configuration: Debug ------

Build complete -- 0 errors, 0 warnings

------ Deploy started: Project: From CD, Configuration: Debug ------

Deploying to http://<server name>/ReportServer?%2f2nd
Deploying data source '/2nd/AdventureWorks2000'.
Deploying report 'Vendor Purchase Orders'.
The report definition is not valid. Details: Could not find schema
information for the element
'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2003/10/reportdefinition:Report'.
Deploy complete -- 1 errors, 0 warnings

---------------------- Done ----------------------

Build: 1 succeeded, 0 failed, 0 skipped
Deploy: 0 succeeded, 1 failed, 0 skipped

These are my first attempts using report services. In a previous deployment
attempts it created the folder (named 2nd), but in another attempt (saving it
to the existing folder) I got the same result as you see above (I have also
tried with a new folder but no luck). This above output is from my last
attempt.

The Build error Task List states:

The Report Definition is not valid. Details: Could not find schema
information for the element
'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2003/10/reportdefinition:report'.

The shema URL as above returns HTTP 404.
If I remove :report, I receive the page for Report Definition Language
Schema May 2004

Looking at the .rdl code the schema URL is as above without :report.

As you can imagine with a limited skill set in this area I am quite
confused. I have been doing alot of research but found nothing to help (or
that I understand will help) so far.

If anyone can help me get through this I would appreciate it.

Visual Studio Crashes While Generating Report Model

Apr 8, 2008

Wasted a lot of time figuring out the possible cause of this. I was working in connected mode (with VSS), and when it tried to create a Report Model (after doing all its validations/checks), it had to check-out the project file, which is normal. But before doing so, it tries to check-out the .dsv file as well (data source view file from which report model is being generated). While attempting this, the visual studio crashes.
I could never guess that this could be an issue. All the time I was trying to figure out if there was anything wrong with the data in my tables.
So, for me, a simple solution worked - check-out the .dsv file before you start creating data model. I hope this may save time for others...

I'm using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 to design reports. Is there any way to use one single image as background for a whole report-page? I only managed to set seperate background images for page header, body and footer, so the only 2 possibilities to solve this problem would be to either

* not use any page header and footer.

Is there another possibility that I've missed?

Any help is highly appreciated!

Visual Studio Report Deployment With Custom Forms Authentication Extension

Oct 9, 2007

Hey, I was just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on an issue. I've got the authentication portion of a custom security extension working properly (while authorization is just sort of giving everyone a pass) and all of my Googling efforts seem to be bearing little fruit. Now that authentication is in place, whenever I try to deploy a report from Visual Studio, it comes up with an error.

The error is that it is getting the authentication html login page set in web.config (as I expected), while it was looking for an xml page. I'm a bit new to this side of things so I'm not really even sure where I should be looking to see what kind of xml page it wants and such.

I don't need anyone to bother explaining the entire thing to me as I should be able to figure it out once I can get a start, but as I said I just need a kick in the right direction because my Google-fu has failed

Reporting Services :: Where Is Window Report Data In Visual Studio 2013

Oct 6, 2015

I have an assignment where I am asked to create a test report with Cascaded parameters in a report for use on an Intranet. Found a good guide on a site named slqtips. The only problem is, that when I have created my data source, my data sets and my queries, I should go to the window "Report parameter properties", for specifing the data which should be included in the choices in the report, and I cannot find it! As a matter of fact the milieu I work in, Report designer in Visual Basic Studio Shell 2013, on a MS SQL 2012 Server, looks different in many way compared to the guide. It actually also differs from the Pictures in the book "Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services" I also try to use for the purpose.Am I perhaps working in the wrong place, or what can the problem be? Is this Visual basic 2013 Window some kind of upgrade which is different from the original version where you used to work with Report designer?

Error When Deploying A Report

I hope someone can help. I'm new to reporting services 2005, and I'm currently going through Microsoft's tutorial.

I can build a report no problem. But when it comes to deploying the report to a web page, the following message appears:

------ Build started: Project: Reporting Services Tutorial, Configuration: Production ------

------ Deploy started: Project: Reporting Services Tutorial, Configuration: Production ------

Error : Response is not well-formed XML.
Deploy complete -- 1 errors, 0 warnings
========== Build: 1 succeeded or up-to-date, 0 failed, 0 skipped ==========
========== Deploy: 0 succeeded, 1 failed, 0 skipped ==========

This "reponse is not well-formed XML" error also occurs when I try to expand any of the folders from a "reporting services" server type in management studio.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Move Report File From Reporting Server Back To Local Visual Studio Project

Apr 4, 2008

I am not sure if this is possible or not, but I have to at least ask.

I have a SQL Reporting Services project that has a QA server version and then a Production server version. So when requested changes are made to the reports, I make the changes in Visual Studio and then push to QA. After the changes have been tested and approved, I then push the changes to the Production server.

I have come across an issue, where requested changes were made in Visual Studio (a lot of changes), and pushed to QA. The users now have changed their minds and they want instead to stay with what is in production. So, I am looking for a way to recover the report file on the production web server, bring it back into my visual studio project to replace the report that I had changed.

Is this possible, or will I have to start over and step one and reverse the changes in Visual Studio.

Let me know.

Thank you,

T.J.

Refresh A Report On Page Load??(Reporting Services 2000, Visual Studio 2003)

Hi,

I'm still quite a beginner with the Report Designer and now I have faced a problem. My goal is to make a reports refresh each time it is loaded. I know that this can be done by using rs:clearsession = true-method but in order this to work, it should be added to each link. There are a lots of links in the reports we are using and therefore it would be more practical to find another way to refresh the report on page load. Is there any way to do this with some kind of code attached to each report? I'm using Visual Studio 2003 and my Reporting services 2000.

Deploying To Report Manager Error

Aug 22, 2006

I have created a report using SSRS 2005. It uses a stored procedure. It executes beautifully when I'm in reporting services. But, when I deploy it to Report Manager, this is the error I am getting.

An error has occurred during report processing.
Query execution failed for data set 'DataSource1'.
An MDX Statement was expected. An MDX expression was specified.

I have 3 parameters in this report. Start Date, End Date & Region. Region is a drop down that contains 2 options. This is a string field being passed into the procedure. Start and end dates are just basic date fields.

I am not using a cube to get my data.

I have deployed to the Report Manager before and have been successful.

SharePoint Add-in, Deploying ReportModel

Hello,

I know I must have missed something in either the installation or configuration, but when I look through the SharePoint Central Admin pages and the Reporting Services Configuration Manager everything seems fine.
