I have a query to refer to the data source in as400 with ODBC 'iSeries Access for Windows ODBC data source' and a linked server with 'oledb for ODBC driver' in SQL2005 (9.0.2047)
Now we got 2 problems,
1. When we refer to the view with openquery e.g select * from openquery (abc, 'select * from dates')
This query continue to run without ending. In Activity monitor, we found that it is waiting for resource ole db
2. Since the process continue to run without ending, I kill the process in activity monitor or by command 'kill'. It shows the status 'KILLED/ROLLBACK' and it returns 'SPID 197: transaction rollback in progress. Estimated rollback completion: 0%. Estimated time remaining: 0 seconds.' in 'kill 197 with STATUSONLY'
In problem 1, I found some ppl encountered the same problem (waiting for resource oledb) with openquery to different data source e.g. vfp, oracle.
In problem 2, we can't restart the sql server for clear the unkillable process
My apologies...I wasn't for sure where to post an error like this...
Over the last 2 months I have gotten this SQL Server error (twice). All existing processes will continue to work, however no new processes can be created and users cannot connect to the server. This is the exact text of the message in the SQL Server error log.

While we can typically just stop SQL Server Service and restart the services...I have found it is best to restart the machine during non-production times to take care of any 'residual' effects of this error.
The SQL Server 2000 SP4 box with Windows 2003 Standard SP1 is well maintained by our I.T. team and it typically will run 4 or 5 months without a reboot.
Hi All, I have a web form that inserts information into two tables in sql 2005 database on a submit button click. I have a unique key on the tables preventing duplicate information which works fine. The problem I have is that at the minute if a users tries to insert a duplicate row they just get the built in sql error message. Is there a way I can validate the information before if goes into the database and display perhaps a label telling the user of their error or is there a way I can customize the build in sql error message? I've had a search on various forums and sites and can't find any info that would help me. Thanks in advance Dave
I have created few reports using SSRS 2005. I am using Oracle database in Data Source to fetch my data. It is working fine and showing me report correctly. But after running the report 8 to 10 times, it starts giving me Memory error. To get rid of that, I need to recycle (stop-start) ReportingService from IIS.
I am exactly getting following error...
Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
I am not getting the actual problem, why is it giving memory error only after running few times? Please let me know if anyone facing same problem or knowing the solution for the problem.
I'm trying to import data from a Sybase ASE 12.0 database called "OurTestDatabase" into MS SQL Server 2005. I started SSIS Wizard and indicated "Sybase ASE OLEDB Provider" as a source and SQL Native Client as the target. I'm gettign the following error message:
The same data source worked with DTS when we thought we'd convert to MS SQL Server 2000. Is this a bug in SSIS? What can be done? Using ".Net Framework Provider for ODBC" is not a good option because this doesn't allow me to choose any tables from the Sybase source.
i'm going nuts with SQL server notification thing. I have gone throigh this artical which tells how to set user http://www.codeproject.com/KB/database/SqlDependencyPermissions.aspx. This article show how to create new user and setup for sql server notification. But In my case user was alredy existing in database. which is very common senario in most cases. So i did following( check the SQL script below) but then i get this error "A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.)" this my sql script use [master]Go -- Ensuring that Service Broker is enabled ALTER DATABASE [DatabaseName] SET ENABLE_BROKERGO -- Switching to our databaseuse [DatabaseName]GO CREATE SCHEMA schemaname AUTHORIZATION usernameGO ALTER USER username WITH DEFAULT_SCHEMA = schemaname GO /* * Creating two new roles. Hi, I am getting error while opening the Data Base Engine in Sql server Management Studio. We applied SP2. and restarted the server but no luck. Error Message:Attempted to read or protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt(mscorlib).
Hello all, I am running into an interesting scenario on my desktop. I'm running developer edition on Windows XP Professional (9.00.3042.00 SP2 Developer Edition). OS is autopatched via corporate policy and I saw some patches go in last week. This machine is also a hand-me-down so I don't have a clean install of the databases on the machine but I am local admin.
So, starting last week after a forced remote reboot (also a policy) I noticed a few of the databases didn't start back up. I chalked it up to the hard shutdown and went along my merry way. Friday however I know I shut my machine down nicely and this morning when I booted up, I was in the same state I was last Wenesday. 7 of the 18 databases on my machine came up with
FCB:pen: Operating system error 32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.) occurred while creating or opening file 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDataTest.mdf'. Diagnose and correct the operating system error, and retry the operation. and it also logs FCB:pen failed: Could not open file C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDataTest.mdf for file number 1. OS error: 32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.).
I've caught references to the auto close feature being a possible culprit, no dice as the databases in question are set to False. Recovery mode varies on the databases from Simple to Full. If I cycle the SQL Server service, whatever transient issue it was having with those files is gone. As much as I'd love to disable the virus scanner, network security would not be amused. The data and log files appear to have the same permissions as unaffected database files. Nothing's set to read only or archive as I've caught on other forums as possible gremlins. I have sufficient disk space and the databases are set for unrestricted growth.
Any thoughts on what I could look at? If it was everything coming up in RECOVERY_PENDING it's make more sense to me than a hit or miss type of thing I'm experiencing now.
Dear list Im designing a package that uses Microsofts preplog.exe to prepare web log files to be imported into SQL Server
What Im trying to do is convert this cmd that works into an execute process task D:SSIS ProcessPrepweblogProcessLoad>preplog ex.log > out.log the above dos cmd works 100%
However when I use the Execute Process Task I get this error [Execute Process Task] Error: In Executing "D:SSIS ProcessPrepweblogProcessLoadpreplog.exe" "" at "D:SSIS ProcessPrepweblogProcessLoad", The process exit code was "-1" while the expected was "0".
There are two package varaibles User::gsPreplogInput = ex.log User::gsPreplogOutput = out.log
How do I use the execute process task? I am trying to unzip the file using the freeware PZUnzip.exe and I tried to place the entire command in a batch file and specified the working directory as the location of the batch file, but the task fails with the error:
SSIS package "IngramWeeklyPOS.dtsx" starting.
Error: 0xC0029151 at Unzip download file, Execute Process Task: In Executing "C:ETLPOSDataIngramWeeklyUnzip.bat" "" at "C:ETLPOSDataIngramWeekly", The process exit code was "1" while the expected was "0".
Then I tried to specify the exe directly in the Executable property and the agruments as the location of the zip file and the directory to unzip the files in, but this time it fails with the following message:
SSIS package "IngramWeeklyPOS.dtsx" starting.
Error: 0xC002F304 at Unzip download file, Execute Process Task: An error occurred with the following error message: "%1 is not a valid Win32 application".
The command in the batch file when run from the command line works perfectly and unzips the file, so there is absolutely no problem with the command, I believe it is just the set up of the variables on the execute process task editor under Process. Any input on resolving this will be much appreciated.
I am designing a utility which will keep two similar databases in sync. In other words, copying the new data from db1 to db2 and updating the old data from db1 to db2.
For this I am making use of the 'Tablediff' utility which when provided with server name, database, table info will generate .sql file which can be used to keep the target table in sync with the source table.
I am using the Execute Process Task and the process parameters I am providing are:
The customer.bat file will have the following code: tablediff -sourceserver "LV-SQL5" -sourcedatabase "TC_CTI" -sourcetable "CUSTOMER_1" -destinationserver "LV-SQL2" -destinationdatabase "TC_CTI" -destinationtable "CUSTOMER" -f "c:SQL_bat_Filessql5TC_CTIsql_filescustomer1"
the .sql file will be generated at: C:SQL_bat_Filessql5TC_CTIsql_filescustomer1.
The Problem: The Execute Process Task is working fine, ie., the tables are being compared correctly and the .SQL file is being generated as desired. But the task as such is reporting faliure with the following error :
[Execute Process Task] Error: In Executing "C:SQL_bat_FilesSQL5TC_CTIpackage_occurrence.bat" "" at "C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft SQL Server90COM", The process exit code was "2" while the expected was "0". ]
Some of you may suggest to just set the ForceExecutionResult = Success (infact this is what I am doing now just to get the program working), but, this is not what I desire.
I'm pulling data from Oracle db and load into MS-SQL 2008.For my data type checks during the data load process, what are options to ensure that the data being processed wouldn't fail. such that I can verify first in-hand with the target type of data and then if its valid format load it into destination table else mark it with error flag and push into errors table... All this at the row level. One way I can think of is to load into a staging table then get the source & destination table -column data types, compare them and proceed.
should I just try loading the data directly and if it fails try trouble shooting(which could be a difficult task as I wouldn't know what caused error...)
We have two instances of SQL Server 2005 - SP1 installed on one server. The default instance starts very slowly. When looking at the log I can see the delay is due to Resource Manager based upon the following error.
OK heres the deal, I just purchased a new dell and uninstalled the sql server. Now i am getting- Execution cannot continue as the language dependent resource fil could not be loaded. Any ideas where i could download it or where to get some answers??? My laptop is only 3months old what the fudge!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi all, I am running Sql 7.0 with sp2. I have a memory 4GB. When i am running some batch jobs and replications i am getting following error number: ERROR NUMBER : 8645 A time out occurred while waiting for memory resources to execute the query. Rerun the query.
Can anyone suggest me how i have to resolve the above error, because i was facing this error very often. Pls suggest me a permanent solution.

I am using SQL 2000 (Standard Edition, SP4) and have created a linked server to access a Access MDB file. When I run a simple query against that server, I get the error:
Server: Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 OLE DB provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' reported an error. [OLE/DB provider returned message: System resource exceeded.] OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' ICommandText::Execute returned 0x80004005: ].
I am able to connect to this same Access MDB file from another SQL server (SQL 2000 Enterprise Edition, SP4). I have compared the two servers and they both have the same version of MDAC (2.8) and the same version of the Jet OLE DB Provider.
Any idea why this would work from one server and not from the other. Also, I was able to perform the same queries from the first server a week back.
After deploying my report on the report Server, I try to access it on the browser which gives me the following error.

All-- Please help. I have an issue at a shared hosting site. Basically, my LDF and MDF files are becomming locked. (1) How can one unlock an LDF or MDF file? (2) Is there a way to run a pseudo-iisreset that applies just to a particular site? (3) Is there a way to force a detach from an MDF file? (4) Is there a way to force a DotNet application to shut-down and release all resources? (5) Will setting the database as AutoClose=True help and what are the implications of doing so? Here is the situation. I have a site at a shared hosting company. I upload my site via FTP. To start, I just upload the MDF file one time. I do not upload the LDF file as that gets created automatically. If I have a schema change, then I need to replace the MDF, pushing up a new version from the local box to the server box. However, what happens is that on the server box the MDF and the LDF become locked. They cannot be renamed, replaced, deleted, or moved. After some kind of timeout (I don't know how long) the files are released and I can delete the server's LDF file and replace the server's MDF file and all is well. The problem is that I do not know a way to remove the lock and/or force a timeout so the files are released without having to wait. What do you think? Please advise. Thank you. --Mark Kamoski
I Everytimes I run a software I wrote on the server I get the following error:
Process ID %d attempting to unlock unowned resource %.*ls.
Does anybody experienced that type of problems before?
have a copy of the database and of the sfotwqre locally on my win 98 machine where it runs without problem. Once I try on the server it crashes miserably.
i have a SP that updates a table for about 2hours. My question is, is it possible to unlock this table so that other SPs or SSIS packages can update/innsert into the same table i am updating.
I know that if you want to unlock all records should issue a rollback or commit statement. But what about to unlock one records from a list of records and keep the other records locked. I used the following statement to make the lock for the records:-
SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL SERIALIZABLE begin transaction select item_no,itemdesc from ims.item [rowlock] with (xlock) where item_no = '0100100001'
begin transaction select item_no,itemdesc from ims.item [rowlock] with (xlock) where item_no = '0100100002'
I have read some post about it in the forum, but i still have 0xC001404D error....
In a custom transformation script, i get a column (just one row in this columns) whit an integer, and i need to assign this value to a variable. My code is as following:
Public Class ScriptMain Inherits UserComponent
Dim nfilas As Int32
Public Overrides Sub Entrada0_ProcessInputRow(ByVal Row As Entrada0Buffer)
As you can see i have been doing several king of solutions... In the next step i write this cariable to a text file... do i have to lock for read the variable also??
I had some process in which ... I need to do some transaction control within dynamic SQL like as follows
Begin tran
insert.......
if @@error <>0
rollback else
commit
Now, when i executed above dynamic SQL for some cases I think there is a some severe error at insert statement and thus resulted in abnormal termination of Dynamic SQL i.e. neither rollback nor commit is executed.
Now certain row level locks are still present on object involved in insert. Now my question is how should i Unlock those locked resources.
I have an Access97 front end using ODBC to communicate with anSQLServer 7.0 back end on a different machine. Most of the work I doin the front end uses forms bound to linked tables that reside on theback end. In one instance though I have to create some new recordsprogrammatically and I use code in a procedure in a general module inthe front end that looks like this:Set newrec = db.OpenRecordset("SELECT * FROM [workshop assignments]",dbOpenDynaset, dbAppendOnly + dbSeeChanges)newrec.AddNew ' assign the workshopnewrec![ComboWS] = WSKeynewrec![Participant] = IndividualIDnewrec![Assigned] = Truenewrec.Updatenewrec.CloseThe problem occurs later when I am in a form that views those recordsthat were just added. For some reason SQLServer still has thoserecords locked, and I am not allowed to make any changes to them. Ican't even just delete them. In fact, even when I exit out of all myforms, go straight into the table window, straight to the table itself(but still in the front end), I cannot delete or change those recordsdirectly. I've tried taking down the front end and bringing it backup. I've tried restarting the whole computer where the front endresides. I've also tried restarting the SQL Server. I still can'tchange those records. Oddly enough, I can change the records withinSQL Server itself. The Access97 front end will see the new values, butstill is unable to do anything with them. How can I fix this problem?Thank you for any help you can give me,Rebecca Jaxon
Hi... When i try to login(other than sa for e.g. "test1" user) in mssql server the account be locked. By using sa account i try to unlock the test1 user by using the following command
Alter login [test1] with PASSWORD = 'pass123' UNLOCK
when i execute above command test1 user unlocked successfully.
But our requirement is, with out setting the PASSWORD property i want to unlok the test1 user
When I develop I sometimes forget and try to open the database file with the MS SQL Express Manager even though the web application I am devloping is still using it ... error lock occurrs and thats fine .... but what is the best way to unlock the files again? .... often I find myself having to restart the workstation because of this and thats sounds a bit like overdoing it .... there should be an easier way to unlock locked db files ...without having to restart the workstations.... is there ?
I have SQL 2005 Express on a hosted webserver - the server is behind a provided firewall with port 1433 closed.
In my event log I am getting hundreds of these :
Login failed for user 'sa'. [CLIENT: 213.247.51.248]
Event ID 18456
They come thick and fast from the same IP.
When I look in SQL Error Logs it's State 8 which seems to be invalid password - so it looks like someone probing the server to me.
I can see a way in the firewall to block certain IP's.
Anyone know a way I can lockdown the SQL, or the server (Packet Filtering?) to stop this? The server is hosted by 1&1 who aren't that hot with support on stuff like this.
