Errors Using Microsoft Sql Server Mgmt Express And VWD 05 Express

I 'm getting this error on expanding the + nodes in SQL Server Management Studio Express Object Explorer:
i.e. Database -> System Databases -> Any DB selected and expanding the Tables node
When I click on the nodes for Tables for any of my databases, I see it saying expanding..., but then a message box errors pops up. It was working fine until after my lunch hour when I attempted to create some new tables.
Failed to retrieve data for this request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Express.SmoEnum)

Hi guys, I've tried to back a database from a server on the net ie: discountasp.net by using Microsoft SQL 2005 Express management tool. After all the set up: (1) the part "Destination", in the "Disk" radio button was cheked, the path for the backup file shows like: D:MSSQL.1MSSQLBackupmyDatabase.back; As I understand D: is the CD drive(?), so I put a CDisc in the drive, and kept going with the process. The Process went very well and inform that the Database has been fully backed up. But I never have found the "saved" or "backed up" that I backed up. Can anyone show me where this backup Database in that D: drive, and where is that D: drive anyway?
(2) In that "destination" part, if I clicked "add", and then typed in the path address part like: C:....mybackupDatabase.bak for example, the the tool gave me the error: ... not set to an instance ...; I counldn't even select the Browse to browse to the directory that I wanted to back up the Database.

I copied these T-SQL statements from a book and I do not know how to correct them. Please help and tell me how to correct these errors.
i apperciate any help you guys can give me regarding this. I'm trying to connect to a sql ce db using sql server mgmt. studio express but from some reason i can't change the server type from the native engine (db engine) to sql ce (it's simply greyd out). I think I've installed all relevants to this (engine, sdk, etc...) but still nothing. The thing is, that on another machine I can do it and i can't figure out what more do I need for this to work.

I have a query that executes just fine except that it won't recognize varchar(255) ( or any other value within the () ) and if I leave it off like this: varchar, then it executes but it leaves that value as 1 and that is just not very useful for my purposes. This also happens with anything else that requires () to add length such as char(), or nvarchar(), etc... Any ideas?
I have uninstalled the SQL Server Express Edition that I have installed from the CDs that were given to me during a Chicago Conference when READY TO LAUNCH Visual Studio 2005, SQL SERVER 2005, and Biz Talk 2005. Then I went to microsoft website: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/register/default.aspx and downloaded and installed the so called Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and I got the messages Error that you read below. Then I Uninstalled Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and went again to msdn website and downloaded Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Advanced Services SP1 and installed it. I got again the same message as below.
MESSAGE:
1. First comes a window with the title: €œsetup.exe €“ Unable to Locate Component€? And it displays a message: This application has failed to start because MSTDCPRX.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. 2. After I click the OK button of this window it comes another window with the title: €œMicrosoft SQL Server 2005 Server Setup€? Does anybody can tell what is going on with the 3 times I tried to installed different SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and I get the same message?????

I just tried installing SQL Server Management Studio Express Edition (SSMSEE?) and it wouldn't install because I had the "regular" SQL Server Management Studio already installed. Is that correct? The version I installed was a CTP. Is the final version going to have the same limitations?

I just installed SQL Server 2005 Express. I would like to import tables from another DB, and I read in the help files that I just need to (1) right-click on a non-system database in Management Studio Express, and (2) select Import/Export under the Tasks menu.
I tried this, but my Tasks menu only contains these options: Detach, Shrink, Backup, Restore, Generate Scripts.
I googled for "sql server 2005 "no import" tasks", and it appears that a couple of people have had this problem -- the only solution I read was to install the "Workstation Components," but I already have, and still no luck.

Hi, Simple question really - Can I use Crystal Reports v8.5 to attach to databases in SQL Server Express and generate reports? I have done a lot of searches in these forums and using Google and I believe it is possible but if someone could confirm this it would help a lot - I'm in the specification stage of a project and would like to use SQL Sever Express for it.
I've been having horrific problems installing and working with SQL Server Express 2005. I installed SSE with the Visual Web Developer tool so I assumed that the instance would synch up; but it didn't (see log contents at end) so I opened up permissions wide open to all users, and even that didn't help. I don't know for sure but I suspect that the problem probably relates to my deleting SQL Server entries from the registry and all directories and files related to it on disk. After going through the process of uninstalling and reinstalling Express 2005 numerous times, I became frustrated and decided to pull out all stops. After reading and following all MSDN instructions and every blog and forum I could possibly locate on the subject, I could never resolve the problem of not reaching my database. I enabled all pipes and TCP/IP, etc. in the Configuration Manager, in both instances I had created; had run all command-line procedures recommended; and used cleanup programs that I could find, before reinstalling. I couldn't even get success in doing a test connection. I did get to a point where my ASP returned the message that it had connected but that the user didn't have permissions. I think I'm destined to working with Access, which is a shame since I have encouraged students in a Web development class I teach to work with the more powerful SQL Server products. They've had success with SQL Server, so I'm setting a bad example. Thanks in advance for help any of you can suggest. I am trying to debug a classic ASP application using Visual Web Developer Express and SQL Server Express editions. When my application tries to execute a stored procedure, I get the following error:
Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available.
Is there a way for me to trace queries that are getting executed in SQL Server Express so I can see which stored procedure is failing? I seem to remember being able to do this with SQL Server 2000. Any other ideas on how to debug SQL Server errors like these using SQL Server Express?
I can't get the download to work...i've tried regular sql server express 2005, the express for sp2 and the express with advanced services. I recently (yesterday) installed a fresh copy of Windows XP with Service Pack 2 applied.
I proceeded with Visual Studio 2005 Express Editions installation straight away.
But I cannot install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition x86.
I choose to install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition x86 component along with every component of visual studio but it simply would not install.
In the end, after the installation of each complete is complete, I simply get an error message saying that Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition x86 failed to install.
I was having some trouble with the DTS Wizard and so I thought I'd just reinstall the whole MSSM. I used remove programs, rebooted my Vista computer and am trying to reinstall the Server Express Toolkit. It tells me that MSSM already exists on my computer (which it doesn't).
The actual screen reads:

How do I reinstall MSSM now? It's gone from my computer.
I have need to configure Microsoft SQL Server 2014 express on my development machine. I have never worked with Microsoft SQL Server and could use some direction. I have done MYSQL work before but the seems much different.

Was trying to open AdventureWorks when i got this error: "There is no editor available "C: Program Flies.....AdventureWorksDW_Log.LDF' Make sure the application for the file type(.LDF) is installed. How can this error be corrected? I also have some error on mdf not installed.May i know how should be the initally steps to be done inorder for me to view this database. And if i do have a database from microsoft access, what are the steps that i need to do inorder to get it export to Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express. I have just found out i/we need to upgrade to the full version of this management tool to make use of SSRS for a new CRM we are putting in place, The CRM company tells me we can just install the tool from our SQL 2005 disk.
Im wondering what the best way to go about this is? i would guess we just un-install the express version install the full version of the management tool and reconnect to the database. unless im missing anything?

I want to use SQL Server to query an Access Database with about 40,000 rows of data. If possible, I don't want to upsize the database because others need acess to it in the ACC97 format. Is there a way to use ODBC to connect to the ACC97 database so that I can use the SQL query capability of SQL server to query the database.
I know access allows you to write some SQL queries but I need the power of the SQL server and now it is a matter of curiosity because I've been searching for this answer for about 8 hours.
i don't know if it was mentioned before, but i solved the issue that Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express won't show the option to create/modify a sql compact database by installing not this Version:

I got this error while trying to restore my database (which was running on SQL Server 2005 Express Edition) onto another machine's SQL Server 2005 Express Edition.
If I try to download using a download manager it stops after 98% (the segment that stops is the first segment). If I try to download without a download manager it stops after 1% (456Kb).
What can I do?
Is there an alternate place where I can download the file?
