i have created one package which contains flat file source and flat file destin and corres conneciton mgrs.
i created configuration using package configurations with name config.dtxconfig.(while creating it i selected connection string under source file and destination file).
config.dtxconfig contains path as config value for source c:folderfilesourc.txt.and for destination c:folderfiledest.txt
But my req is we have to create another xml named as folderpath.xml should contain the path up to c:folder.for every package execution ssis should access this xml where it should find the folder.
if i want to change the name of folder (or ) move the folder i should change in folderpath.xml only wihout changing folder name in all configuration files.
can i do that.
if not give me alternate solution.plz guide me with clear explanation since i am novice to this tool
We have a statutory requirement to keep 5 years of history, so I've checked the option in the Site Settings page in the Report Manager to "Keep an unlimited number of snapshots in report history". The drives are partitioned as follows:
C: -- OS; 20GB
D: -- Apps; 20GB
E: --Data: 160GB
I want to force the report history snapshots onto the data (E:) drive, but I can't figure out what setting will force them there. Can anyone tell me how to set the path to the reports snapshots folder?
DECLARE @File_Exists INT EXEC Master.dbo.xp_fileexist 'serverBSQL_Backupfile.bak', @File_Exists OUT print @File_Exists
1
And if check folder, can use "nul", but it doesn't work for UNC path
DECLARE @File_Exists INT EXEC Master.dbo.xp_fileexist 'serverBSQL_Backup ul', @File_Exists OUT
print @File_Exists 0
If use xp_subdirs like:
EXEC master.dbo.xp_subdirs 'serverBSQL_Backups'
If the folder doesn't exists,
Msg 22006, Level 16, State 1, Line 3 xp_subdirs could not access 'ServerBSQL_Backups*.*': FindFirstFile() returned error 67, 'The network name cannot be found.'
How to check if UNC folder exists in Backup? in my code I want to check if the unc folder exists before doing backup, the unc path is retrieved from other table or backup history.
I'm, using my script to many location to create folder to save output files and if the folder is removed/not present it can create it without any noise. But the problem is, while I use the same sort of script to check if a folder is present in the sharedpath it will not create it to copy all bkp files from local to remote path works good, but if you delete the folder or rename the exisitng folder and if the below script tries to create the folder it created as "fILE", very interesting. Per IT team they have given SQL Server account the full rights to create/delete/alter folder/files.
Do I need to use seperate script or way to create / alter folders in the sharepath?
I wrote the below script to print all folders and files located in the share path. How to extend my script to mention by adding another column whether the file is a folder/file , sort of 0 or 1.
DECLARE @File_Exists INT EXEC Master.dbo.xp_fileexist 'serverBSQL_Backupfile.bak', @File_Exists OUT print @File_Exists 1
And if check folder, can use "nul", but it doesn't work for UNC path
DECLARE @File_Exists INT EXEC Master.dbo.xp_fileexist 'serverBSQL_Backupul', @File_Exists OUT print @File_Exists 0
If use xp_subdirs like:
EXEC master.dbo.xp_subdirs 'serverBSQL_Backups'
If the folder doesn't exists, Msg 22006, Level 16, State 1, Line 3 xp_subdirs could not access 'ServerBSQL_Backups*.*': FindFirstFile() returned error 67, 'The network name cannot be found.'

I'm looking to schedule a maintenance plan for my databases which I have done.I'd like this database to be copied to another folder and the name altered to include the file name and the current date time stamp. Is this possible in the scheduled maintenance plan?
I have an issue as to where only some reports are visible within Report Viewer url. But if I navigate to the path of the rdl's there are many more present that should be visible through Report Viewer. The client was recently upgraded, and I seem to have all out of box roles and permission levels yet can only see some of those reports, as if some were manually copied to this folder location at a later point and perhaps some user job needs to be run to reflect import those additional rdl's?
Basically i have 3 images capacity per record in my asp.net application. In there i am saving the image path with record id in database and image in my application folder.
Now i am creating SSRS Report in Report builder . In there i have taken one image control to show the images. In the Image properties in report builder i have chosen database under the select the image source field. then inside use this field i have chosen image url and in use this MIME Type i have selected image/jpeg. Now i have saved this report in report server folder.
Now while calling in .net web from through report viewer control. It is opening the report but wont showing the image.

i want to read the file in my root folder excluding the bin path
15 or so databases are being backed up overnight to a remote server using UNC paths. All bar one database is being copied fine. The one that isn't is the largest at 8gb. The error in the log is OS error 64 (the network name could not be found).
Now I've got the customer looking into any reasons why their network may be interrupted overnight, but while googling around I saw someone mentioned that backing up to UNC with databases over 2gb can cause problems? Is there any truth in this?
I am inclined to reccomend the user backs up the database to a local drive and then sets up a scheduled task to copy it across, but I'm interested to see if this is a known issue.
I'm trying to set a backup job to back up my databases to a server other than the server where Sql server is installed. The only options I can see are the local drives on my sql server when I try to set a location or backup device. If I want my backups to go to another server , How do I do that. Currently I'm trying to use a UNC path like \ServerNameBackups. When I try to use a UNC path I get an invalid directory error.
I'm fairly new to SQL Server as you can tell!
Can anyone help me? (I'm using sql server 2000) Thanks GEM
Hi, I've to restore a bk into a new DB, because the old one has a lot of devices created on different places and phisical disks. Im not sure to do that, cause Ive heard some problems with this action.
The old Db has 10 devices of data and 10 devices of log, and I want to create only one device of data (sum of all the data devices) and only one device of log (sum of all log devices) Is it possible or not?
acutally my network dept. has change the backup file server IP address.. i m now hving problem for taking backup. i have around 85 backup that runs everyday.. what i m doing now running every single command to drop backup device and then adding again.. but it's taking agess to do..

I want to redirect the logshipping primary backup folder to another drive, how to change the configurations steps to move the primary logship folder to another location within the same server!
the idea is to put together a folder that is in some place in the computer, like "c:excel_fles" and the database full backup in a single .bak file, the database can be recovered with sql server management studio(but no the folder), the restoration of the program can be done with a program, I think it can be done with msdb, but I'm a little lost in the road.
I am trying to set up log shipping in a clustered server environment. I am pretty confused about the location of the shared folder to be created to put backup created by log shipping job. Which drive should I use either local or clustered shared drive to store the backups in primary server and to copy the same in secondary Server?
I dont alot about sql server 2005(Express edition). For debugging purposes i want to copy the whole app_data folder(.mdf & .log files) on the production server to another folder on the same machine(or sometimes to a network folder). So when i copy and try to paste this App_data folder to a new location, i get this error message "cannot copy ASPNETDB: it is being used by another person or program. close any programs that might be using the file and try again." After reading the above message, i close visual web developer, stop the website in IIS and stop the SQLExpress service on the server and try again but still get the same message. So how can i make sure that all the programs accessing these database files are closed such that i'm able able to copy them to a different location.
I know a WMI event watcher can be used to watch for a new file being added to a folder. However, I need to check for new folders being added to an existing folder. I haven't been able to find a post on doing this. Is there a way in WQL to check for a new folder being added instead of a new file? I've used SQL for years, but am new to SSIS.
I have a SharePoint (2007) Document Library site called B. Web Client is enabled on the server and B is mapped as a Drive (let's call it Y for this discussion)
I want to move documents in A to B. Easy enough, right? Not so....
I first started by creating a batch file that issues a COPY \A \Y /Y at the command prompt. Viola! Worked Great!
I then moved that command to a SQL Agent job as a CMDExec statement (exact same statement) and attempted to run it.....CRASH! It found the files in A but then said "The system cannot find the path specified"
Ok, so I tried it in SSIS. CRASH! Checked the error log. Same thing...
So I then checked the account under which the SQl Agent was running (special domain account for all our SQL Servers). Thinking it might mater I changed it to run under my name (I'm in Domain admin). I also ensured I had permissions to the SPS 2007 library as well. (I did).
Ran again! CRASH! Same error....
So, I created a batch file , placed thec ommand in the batch file and ran that from the command prompt! Viola! Worked Great.
So, I was thinking of how ingenious I was as I pasted my C:RootCopy.bat into my SQL Agent job. With a big grin on my face I right clicked and picked "Start Job at step".......CRASH! Same error.
Does anyone have any ideas on this ???????????????
When trying to install Business Contact Manager (BCM) for Outlook 2007, the setup failed and I was refered to a log file in my Local Settings/Temp folder. The log actually says that Business Contact Manager was installed sucessfully! BCM is supposed to install SQL Express 2005 as an instance or as instance if SQL Express is already installed. There is an MSSMLBIZ instance in Services..
Who can I send the Log File to for analysis and the fix feedback?
When I first went into Computer Management and clicked on Services and Applications in the left panel, the error message appeared "Snap-in failed to intialize. Name: SQL Server Configuration Manager CLSID:{CA9F8727-31DF-41D2-975C-887D84903967} This message diappeared when I clicked on Services and Applications again. Under Services, there are 3 SQL services - one is an application that was uninstalled 3-4 weeks ago and I disabled this service. The other 2 are: SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ) and the other one is SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) When I tried to start either of the last 2, the message appeared: Services "Could not start the SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ) service on Local Computer. Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified. Under Program Files/Microsoft SQL Server/MSSGL.1 folder is mostly empty. So, it seems like the Path in the Registry is not valid and that nothing is being installed in the MSSQL.1 folder. If so, how do I fix this?
How do I get the BCM SQL instance to install and run properly? what do the messages in Services mean and how do I resolve these.
After updating TempDB path to a wrong path (without file name only folder name) the service is not starting. How can i sovle this and start the service
I have a set of folders with the following structure:
MainFolder
1999
SpreadsheetA.xls
SpreadsheetB.xls
SpreadsheetC.xls
2000
SpreadsheetA.xls
SpreadsheetB.xls
SpreadsheetC.xls
etc.
Is there a way that I can use the foreach loop container to loop the sub folders? My plan was to get the folder name and path into a variable, use this to build the connection string for each file in this folder, carry out the upload for that folder, then move onto the next folder and do the same thing, but I cannot see a way to do this.
I am having problem with moving a file from one folder to another folder. Here is the detailed scenario:
I want to move a input.csv file from shared input folder to shared archive folder. i am using the below code to do this. declare @inpath varchar(100) SET @inpath = 'move "\abcdefINPUTinput*.csv" "\abcdefARCHIVEarchive.csv"' EXEC @filestatus = master..xp_cmdshell @inpath but the problem was it was cutting the input.csv file from INPUT folder but not pasting it in the ARCHIVE folder. I really appreciate if anyone can help me to solve this or anyone can tell some workarounds.
I'm getting this message on my third automated backup of the transaction logs of the day. Both databases are in full recovery mode, both successfully backed up at 01.00. The transaction logs backed up perfectly happily at 01:30 and 05:30, but failed at 09:30.
The only difference between 05:30 and 09:30's backups is that the log files were shrunk at 08:15 (the databases in question are the ones that sit under ILM2007, and keeping the log files small keeps the system running better).
Is it possible that shrinking the log files causes the database to think that there hasn't been a full database backup?
Sorry if this is not the correct forum... I am using the FOR XML PATH feature of SQL Server 2005 (Amazing!!) Is it possible to return multiple rows? For example:SELECT 'Field1' AS 'Element1/@Field1'FROM TableFOR XML PATH('Repeating') Say the above SELECT returns 5 records, I want it to return 5 rows of xml in my ASP.NET application. So in this case each of the 5 rows would contain:<Repeating><Element Field1="Field1"></Element> <Repeating>Instead of returning 1 row with all the xml together.
When using sp_xml_preparedocument @hdoc OUTPUT, @doc I see code everywhere with huge xml text embedded in some store procedures. Can the SELECT XXX FROM XXX FOR XML PATH('') syntax be used instead to produce the second parameter @doc (xmltext) for sp_xml_preparedocument ?
Im trying to reference a ExcelFilePath connection properties using a UNC path, however it doesnt seem to like it, when i use a mapped drive everything works fine.
Hello to all, help, help,... i have with this problem since 3 weeks, until now i cann't resolve this problem. Maybe can somebody help me. I am hopeless. i have a data table ValidRelationship, i will check if there is a relationship between two members by this table. datas in the table ValidRelationship: IDMember IDOtherMember IDType
3700 3726 10000
3726 3700 10000
3742 3672 10000
3672 3742 10000
3422 3548 10000
3548 3422 10000
3548 3717 10000
3717 3548 10000
3675 3695 10000
3695 3675 10000 I will give two member and check their Relationship with a sql query. but it can be that this two member have no relationship. So i define here that man should search processor <= 6 . To better describe i use a example: max. Result of this query is: 1-2-3-4-5-6. If this is a relationship between 1-7 is 1-2-3-4-5-6-7, but i will give a answer that this is no relationship between 1-7. because processor > 6. But my problem is: this query executing is too slow. if i habe two member no relationship, the time of this complete sql query to execute is more than 1 minutes. Is my algorithm wrong, or where is the problem, why this executing is so slow? How can i quickly get the relationships between two member, if my algorithms is not right? The following Query is only to processor = 3, but it works too slowly, so i don't write remaining processors. declare @IDM int; declare @IDO int; set @IDM = 3418; set @IDO = 4270 select top 1 IDMember from v_ValidRelationships where IDMember = @IDM and @IDO in (select a.IDOtherMember from v_ValidRelationships as a where a.IDMember = @IDM)
select top 1 a.IDMember, b.IDMember from v_ValidRelationships as a, v_ValidRelationships as b where a.IDMember = @IDM and b.IDMember in (select c.IDOtherMember from v_ValidRelationships as c where c.IDMember = @IDM) and @IDO in (select d.IDOtherMember from v_ValidRelationships as d where d.IDMember = b.IDMember )
select top 1 a.IDMember, b.IDMember, e.IDMember from v_ValidRelationships as a, v_ValidRelationships as b, v_ValidRelationships as e where a.IDMember = @IDM and b.IDMember in (select c.IDOtherMember from v_ValidRelationships as c where c.IDMember = @IDM) and e.IDMember in (select f.IDOtherMember from v_ValidRelationships as f where f.IDMember = b.IDMember) and @IDO in (select d.IDOtherMember from v_ValidRelationships as d where d.IDMembe = e.IDMember)
If someone has a idea, please help me. Thank a million Best Regards Shasha
