We are listing available SQL databases for selection in a VB list box, but need to be able to then elicit the tables in the database for another list. I am sure it is something simple, could someone help me out with this? Thanks!!

I have a drop down list that is populated by a stored procedure which has two int parameters (ID, STATUS). I need to default the drop down list to a value in the database that is associated to the ID & STATUS parameters.
The problem I am having is that it only works if the selected value is the first record on the drop down list. for any other records (outside the first record) from the drop down list i get "The 'SelectedIndex' and 'SelectedValue' attributes are mutually exclusive."
Here is the stored procedure I am using to populate the drop down list:

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have two tables in my database: order_id with fields order (text) and comp_ID (int) and another table called customers with comp_ID (int) and company name (text) and other company information fields. The link between the two tables is the comp_ID. With every order that's made the company that made the order is stored with it in the order_id table. If I type in the order id (text), I want to be able to use the order id to search the order_id table and find out what the comp_ID of the company that made that order is. Then use that comp_ID to pull up the record of company information from the customers table with the same comp_ID. Is there some way to do this in one query? Or how do I accomplish this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to ship 500,000 aged transactions each night to an archive table and delete them from their source table in one or more logical units of work (LUW). Each row is approx 60 bytes and there is only one non clustered index on the source table presently.
I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of 3 alternatives. One of them would basically insert the non-aged rows into tempdb, ship the aged records, truncate the table and then insert the tempdb records back into their source all in the same LUW.
For this alternative, I'd at least like to turn off logging when the records get inserted into tempdb as I dont see any value in logging that part of the activity. Is this possible?

I have hooked up to more than one database which creating the login.
In syslogins we can see only the default database associated with that login.
I want the list of all the databases for that specific login..

I am trying to create a list of all the tables in one database and then list the size of each table. So for example I want to create a table with the table name and table size for one DB
E.g
Table1 1111KB
Table2 123300MB
Table3 120448KB
etc for all the tables in a particukar DB
I know there is a stored procedure to list the sizes: 'sp_spaceused' but not sure how to script all this together.

hey all you database guru's hopefully someone can lend some insight as to a little table design problem I have.
Basically I've got a system in place to authorize users to access a website typical username password stuff. The table contains a list of users and there passwords plus the auth level and a few other tid bits that aren't really important enough to into detail about them here. What I want to do is add a messaging system to this, I think I could probably figure out a way to do this half decent if I setup a seperate table for each user to add a row to the table for every message entry than in my asp.net code have it delete everything but the last 10 entries every time a user logs on. However I would much prefer a way that I didn't have to setup a whole new table for each user just for messaging purposes, maybe store something like a list in one of the database cell's kind of like .nets generic.list or better yet generic.queue, I would also like a way if it's possible without too much work to have the table automatically delete the oldest message every time a new message is received if there's already 10 messages existing for the user.
Anyways hopefully someone has some experience in setting up a system like this, I don't really require any code samples I can code it all myself (other than the database code to automatically remove entry's, I'm not a database guy) if someone could just explain a way to accomplish what I'm trying to do, or if someone has a different more convenient way of doing this I would be up for suggestions

but when i loop table names is changed, it reports error, that can map columns, becouse in new tables is different columns.

We have a "main" SQL 2014 server who imports XML files using SSIS in a datacenter. In remote sites (which are warehouses), there is an instance of SQL 2014 Express. A merge replication is setup, as every operations done on each site must be "forwared" to the main database, as some XML files are generated as output for an ERP system.
Now, the merge replication replicate all the data to the server on each sites. But a specific site don't need the data of every other sites, only the data relevant to itself (which is the warehouse code). Is there a way to replicate only the data relevant to each individual sites to the subscribers? Or is there a better way than replication to accomplish this?

What I would like to do is to declare a dump device just ONCE and then reuse this definition when I run the backup database command for different databases.
For example I have a single network folder where I want to store all my backups for a particular Sql Server instance; which I would like to setup like this :
EXEC sp_addumpdevice 'disk', 'dev_edrive','\199.xxx.xxx.xxxe$dbbaks'
Of course the backup database syntax requires that the disk device end with a filename.bak - so this shall not work in reality.
I am not sure how tape backups work, but they donot seem to need a filename to be specified i.e. the BOL example just declares it as \. ape0'

I have used this code. My problem is that i put it in descending order to obtain this output, but if for example Screen application had more count it will ruin the hierarchy of the subject.

which is exactly what I want: The greates MonthId for each TeamMember in a specific year.
But I need more data for this postition, like the PositionName.
But the statement:
