Install Sql2005 32 Bit After Removing Sql2005 64 Bit

Sep 19, 2007

I am unable to install 32-bit SQL Server Integration Services on the server due to something that was left behind by the 64-bit version.

I've uninstalled SQL Server 2005 64-bit and when I try to install the 32-bit version of Integration Services, I get this error: "Failed to install and configure assemblies C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft SQL Server90DTSTasksMicrosoft.SqlServer.MSMQTask.dll in the COM+ catalog. Error: -2146233087 Error message: Unknown error 0x80131501 Error descrition: FATAL: Could not find component 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Task.MessageQueueTask.ServCompMQTask' we just installed."

I can't seem to figure out how to resolve this problem with the COM+ and I can't remember if Integration Services is required.

Can anybody please advise?

Install SQL2000 AFTER SQL2005

Jul 9, 2007

Hi,

I need to install SQL2000 onto a machine (W2K3 R2, SP2) that already has SQL2005, SP1 running. I can't disturb the SQL2005 installation.

Are there any problems or pitfalls to avoid? I've googled and looked on Technet but not yet found an answer.

Has anyone done this?

I know that if I install a separate instance of SQL2000 alongside a default installation of SQL2000 then I'll get a totally separate installation which won't affect the other one at all, so I reckon it could be done. But I have to be sure before I start!

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Question After Sql2005 SP2 Install

Feb 27, 2007

I ran a test upgrade of sql 2005, sp1, to SP2, on a Windows 2003 server. After the upgrade (which seemed to work well) I got an additional information dialog box:

"By default, users on Windows Vista and later Operaitng systems are not members of the System Administrator role for the Sql or Analysis services. To add users to the System adminstrator role.. launch the sql 2005 User Provisioning Tool for Windows Vista after SP2 installation completes...."

Huh? Are users on any OS, be default, members of the sysadmin role?

While I am "glad" for the extra information, it seems irrelevant to the current situation.

Updating DB Server To SQL2005 *after* The Install?

Feb 15, 2007

I had a SQL2000 Server with a simple database. I did an "in place" upgrade to SQL2005 expecting the DB Server and databases to upgrade. However, now when I run SQL Server Management Studio and enter the query:-

SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('productversion'), SERVERPROPERTY ('productlevel'), SERVERPROPERTY ('edition')

I get the answer:-

8.00.2039SP4Enterprise Edition

Why didn't it upgrade? And how do I upgrade it now? I'm very confused!

SQL2005 ActivePassive Cluster Install ?

Feb 18, 2007

yesterday i installed sql2k5 on a activepassive cluster and for some strange reason the mssqlserver service does not want to start up on the node that i installed it on but if i fail it over to the passive node it will start fine. system info below:

system info:

* win2k3 enterprise r2 (x64) cluster activepassive*

* sql2k5 enterprise (x64) clustered*

the win2k3 cluster works fine. i installed the msdtc service running as a cluster as well and that works fine.

both servers are identical to each other. sql virtual server is running on the passive node which is now the active node. any ideas?

To Install SQL2005 SP2 Via Command Line.

Feb 13, 2008

Hi,

I have a problem about the SP2 installation with using command line in vbscript.

In the vbscript, I use the command line as follow.

'Command line parameters to install SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2

Set WSHShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
strAppsp2 = "c:sqlsetupSP2SQLServer2005SP2-x64.exe /Passive /quiet"
WSHShell.Exec(strAppsp2)

set shell = createobject("wscript.shell")
...

But it cannot install the SP2.

Then I tried to test the command line again at the command prompt

c:sqlsetupSP2SQLServer2005SP2-x64.exe /allinstances /passive

After that the SP2 installation box is shown but I need to install in unattend mode.

Would you please suggest me the command line to install the sp2 in unattend mode.

Regard,

Install SQL2000 And SQL2005 In Production Environment?

Dec 2, 2005

Hi,

Is it possible to deploy both SQL2000 and SQL2005 on the same server in the production environment?

Is it recommended? Next year we will be deploying a SQL2005 solution and was wondering if we could get away with installing it on the same server as the SQL2000 server, or whether we should put it on another server.

We have up to a maximum of 50 concurrent users.

Thanks.

SQL2005 SP2 Dec CTP Sharepoint AddIn Install Problem

Jan 22, 2007

Hi,

I've installed the Dec CTP of SP2 on a Windows Server 2003 SP1 virtual machine. Sharepoint and SQL2005 are running on the same machine. It currently has 1GbRAM allocated.

I configured the Report Server to use a Sharepoint integrated report server database. (Missed this first time round).

Then I installed the SharepointRS.msi.

I see no sign of the Reporting Services section in Central Administration, Application Management, and in Central Administration>Site Settings>SiteFeatures, I see no sign of Reporting Services either.

Below is the log file from SharepointRS.msi /l*

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Martin

Install Problem With SQL2005 Standard. Error 2908

Mar 25, 2008

I am attempting to install SQL Server 2005 on a Server 2003 Enterprise edition SP2 and fully Patched with all critical updates, including .net 3.5 Additional Information, this is on a Virtuial Server.
When I try to install it fails near the beginning and the log file contains the following.

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 9.00.1399.06
==============================
OS Version : Microsoft Windows Server 2003 family, Service Pack 1 (Build 3790)

Product Version : 9.00.1399.06
Install : Failed
Log File : C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90Setup BootstrapLOGFilesSQLSetup0004_X205_Support.log

Error String : The installer has encountered an unexpected error. The error code is 2908. Could not register component {1F3316BE-825B-4390-A9D2-AF3EECCAE9F6}.
Error Number : 2908
====================================================================================

After doing some search engine digging I found some referances to simuilar problems being caused by .net. I tried uninstalling first 3.5, then 3.0 then 2.0sp1, at which point the install worked with only one error that SQL Management studio was unable to register (A bunch of black lines) although the sql installation seems to work. I then reinstalled .net 3.5 (Which also reinstalls 3.0 and updates 2.0 to SP1. Again S!QL seems to be healthy....
My Questions are:
1) is there a better way to do this???
2) If I do it this way do you see any l;ong term problems?

SQL2005 Developer Install On Windows Vista Home Premium

Feb 19, 2008

Hi, I'm having a problem installing SQL2005 Developer on Windows Vista.

At the System Configuration check page, I'm getting the IIS Feature Requirement item telling me IIS is not installed or disabled. This is not the case.

I have read article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920201 and switched on the IIS components as specified.

I've tried installing with Firewall, virus checker etc switched off. Every time I get the same problem. This is an issue, as I specifically need Reporting Services installed.

Has anyone managed to solve this problem ?

Upgraded SQL2000 To SQL2005, SQL2005 VERY Slow

Dec 27, 2005

I just upgraded my SQL 2000 server to SQL2005. I forked out all that money, and now it takes 4~5 seconds for a webpage to load. You can see for yourself. It's pathetic. When I ran SQL2000, i was getting instant results on any webpage. I can't find any tool to optimize the tables or databases. And when I used caused SQL Server to use 100% cpu and 500+MB of ram. I can't have this. Can anyone give me some tips as to why SQL 2005 is so slow?

Migrating Sql2005 Vb Dts Package To Sql2005

Jul 8, 2007

Hello,

I have a vb program that include a dts package that has been saved to vb with sql2000 dts wizard and works very good.

Now that I upgrade my website to sql2005, this vb dts package doesn't work.

The error I get is:

Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS) Package

Invalid STDGMEDIUM structure

(Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS) Package (80040066): Invalid STDGMEDIUM structure

) (Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC SQLState: 42000) (80004005): [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near ')'.)

I searched in the internet how to make dts package in sql2005 and save it to vb and found no information about it.

What Can I do to get the vb code of the dts package I create in sql2005 or how do i migrage the sql2000 vb dts package code to sql2005?

Thanks,

Kubyustus

Linking SQL2005 On 64-bit To SQL2005 On 32-bit OS.

Nov 13, 2006

I have some production boxes on Win 2000 32-bits OS and some production servers have been upgraded to Win2003 64-bit OS runing SQL Server 2005. There are also a number of Win2003 32-bit OS running SQL 2005.

The issue is that when linking the 64-bit production servers to the 32-bit boxes running SQL 2005 / Win 2003 OS, the linking seems to succeed, but I am unable to see a number of entries in sys.objects. Typically, these objects are User Stored Procedures.

Moreover, the linking seemed to have worked, but data extraction does not take place between the servers. However, there are no errors. The objects (user stored procs) exist on the 64-bit side, but linking does not actually happen.

Microsoft KB has addressed this in SQL 2000 case in this KB article, but has not suggested a solution for SQL 2005.

Any ideas? Has anyone else encountered this?

Thanks.

SQL Server 2005 Install Keeps Failing To Install SQL Services (i.e. The Main Engine!).

Feb 6, 2007

I am currently running Windows XP Professional Service Pack2. It already has MSDE & SQL Server 2000 installed (although I just uninstalled MSDE in the vain hope that it might present the installer with a more straightforward upgrade).

My SQL server 2005 is standard version, OS Windows server 2003 sp2, I am using Administrator account to install it.

Thanks a lot,

Rex

How To Suppress Dialog [Install Xxx Using The Default Application Install Directory?] ?

Dec 7, 2006

I have compile my application into a Smart Device CAB and also including SQLCE CAB file for SQL.

I have users who choose to install SQLCE into Storage Cards instead and causes the application not to function, when asked which destination to install.

I've done some search and found out about "wceload.exe /noaskdest" but I'm using NSIS to compile into a single .exe file, and its calling "CEAppMgr.exe"

How can I force SQLCE to install into its default directory without asking user?

Thanks!

Standard Install Gives: Value Does Not Fall Within The Expected Range After SP1 Install

Jan 30, 2007

Win XP Pro SP2IIS 5.1SQL 2005 SP1 (Developer edition)VS 2005 SP1.Net 2.0IE7 (didn't work on IE 6 either)Latest updates from Windows updateI have set up SSRS successfully on several machines. But on a new machine with standard install I have the out of the box SSRS report manager running with issues and would like to resolve them. Report Manager will serve image files from my project. But it won't render deployed reports, not even one which has no data sources. From within VS 2005 the same reports render, no problems. The same reports published to another SSRS machine render fine. The browser erorr message is "Value does no fall within the expected range".Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
