How To Drop Database Table If It Exits In Sql Mobile Version?
Jul 3, 2006
Hi,
I am using VB.net and Visual Studio 2005 to compile a program for a Pocket PC with Microsoft® Windows Mobile„¢ 2003 Second Edition. I am using sql mobile also.
What I want to complete is like one of the following two queries. But when I tried them in the sql mobile, errors happened. So how can I complete the same function in sql Mobile? Thanks.
Hi,I found this SQL in the news group to drop indexs in a table. I need ascript that will drop all indexes in all user tables of a givendatabase:DECLARE @indexName NVARCHAR(128)DECLARE @dropIndexSql NVARCHAR(4000)DECLARE tableIndexes CURSOR FORSELECT name FROM sysindexesWHERE id = OBJECT_ID(N'F_BI_Registration_Tracking_Summary')AND indid 0AND indid < 255AND INDEXPROPERTY(id, name, 'IsStatistics') = 0OPEN tableIndexesFETCH NEXT FROM tableIndexes INTO @indexNameWHILE @@fetch_status = 0BEGINSET @dropIndexSql = N' DROP INDEXF_BI_Registration_Tracking_Summary.' + @indexNameEXEC sp_executesql @dropIndexSqlFETCH NEXT FROM tableIndexes INTO @indexNameENDCLOSE tableIndexesDEALLOCATE tableIndexesTIARob
I have a program running on Pocket PCs that synchronizes with a desktop SQL database using SQL Mobile. My problem is that I can't delete old subscriptions from the publication; now the publication has 25 subscriptions and won't accept any more (limit of SQL Workgroup edition). I can delete non-SQL Mobile subcriptions just fine.
Running sp_replmonitorhelpsubscription provides this information:
I've had troubles in the past with this bug - http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=158671&SiteID=1 - where 'join's with 'order by' did not work correctly. So is there a new version where I don't need a workaround and if yes, where is this version available? The latest version I know of is 3.0.5214.0, but in the meanwhile SQL Server 2005 SP1 had been released so I did remember that there is this open bug in SQL Server Mobile.
I created a .SDF inside VS.net 2005 and transfer to a PPC. When I tried to open it with "Query Analyzer" in the PPC, I got a error message said "The file is not a valid database file. A internal error has occurred.[,,Databasename,,] Interface defining error: IID_IDBInitialize". Can anyone help?
I am developing a mobile application with Visual Studio 2005 RTM. I created a .SDF database from scratch within the Server Explorer window. Based on the properties of the database, this is a version 3.0 DB. I then deploy the application to the Pocket PC 2003 SE Emulator and I receive an error when trying to open the database from my app. It's a very generic error:
System.SData.SqlServerCE.SqlCEException
I trap the error in my code, but there is no message in the exception object.
If I try to open it with Query Analyzer on the device, I get an error stating "The file is not a valid database file". It appears that SQL CE 2.0 was deployed to the emulator.
I noticed that when I add a reference in my project to the System.Data.SQLServerCE namespace, it defaults to this DLL:
C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 8SmartDevicesSDKSQL ServerMobilev2.0System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll
I tried removing that and manually adding a reference by browsing to this 3.0 DLL:
C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 8SmartDevicesSDKSQL ServerMobilev3.0System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll
I then receive the following build error:
Unable to load referenced library 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 8SmartDevicesSDKSQL ServerMobilev3.0System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll': Version 2.0 is not a compatible version.
If I build the database in my application from scratch from within my code, everything works fine, which I believe is because it is a 2.0 database that is generated.
To make a long story short:
How do I get my project to reference the 3.0 SQL Server CE namespace and deploy it to the emulator?
I have created a database in the SQL Server 2005 and the same database in sql mobile. I have a field, which has a GUID and uniqueidentifier, when i tried to insert the same data which is there in sql server 2005 database into sql mobile database it is giving me error as below
Major Error 0x80040E14, Minor Error 25501
> INSERT INTO TypeValue (TypeValue_ID,DisplayValue,TypeName,OrderIndex,IsActive)
Hi, I can't seem to find which SQL Server Compact Edition version is pre-installed on the Windows Mobile 6 rom. I guess it is 3.0, but I'm not sure about it. Another question is, if I use SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5 by deploying the .dll files as part of my application's CAB installer, will this be a problem for Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile 6? Thank you in advance,
How to grant DROP table permission within a database to an SQL login. I could see in Databae properties-> permission tab, there is an option to grant CREATE TABLE, EXECUTE permission etc, but not DROP table permission. How to grant it?
We have a database we are replicating to about 8 SQL Express subscribers from a SQL 2012 SP2 publisher. The size of the database grew too large for the 10GB license limit for SQL Express and now replication refuses to replicate any of our deletions on the publisher to reduce the size of the database. I've come up with a few options below.
1) Drop one of the larger table indices on the subscriber database to get below the size restriction. Permit the replication to replicate the deleted records and then rebuild the index. (I'm not sure how important an index is to this table. Is it merely performance related?)
2) "Upsize" SQL Express to SQL Standard on the affected boxes. Allow the deletes to replicate. Backup the database, downgrade to SQL Express and restore the database back to SQL a new SQL express instance. This would involve a lot of work on each box. I'd like to avoid it if possible.
Is there any way to restore a database of higher version to lower version.
E.g. I have created a database in sql server 2012, created some tables & procedures in that.I took Full backup of that database. Can I restore it to sql 2008r2 or any lower version.
I know direct restore is not possible, I have to use either import or export option or generating script, but i want to know is there any easy step to do so.
I have tried to attatch a database ,created by SQL server Express within a C# application , in SQL server 2005 Enterprise edition, but the following error message appears:
-----------------------------

so , how can I solve this problem , I need to reed the data resides in the tables of 'X' database , how can I do it?? please help me.
I have an ssis package that downloads a SQL Server 2000 database and restores it to a SQL 2005 server. Ninety-five percent of the time it runs just fine, but every so often the job fails and I get the following set of error messages in the log file. (I have had to delete some of the proprietary information for this message to satisfy my boss like putting in [Database name] in place of the actual name of the database in the error message).

Now, I checked and verified that my backup version of SQL Server is the same as the version installed on the computer I'm restoring too.
I have SQL Server on a production machine that I backed up and want to test a full restore on a dev machine to make sure it will work when I need it to.
Now that I've run the restore command on my tape backup and go to restart the SQL server service I receive:
Configuration block version 0 is not a valid version number. SQL Server is exiting. Restore the master database or reinstall.
I'm afraid I don't understand why this is happening. If the builds are the same, then shouldn't restoring the MASTER database have worked normally and I'd be able to restart the service now?
As a complete beginner regarding SQL Server, I installed SQLExpress and lots of other things Microsoft told me to (without understanding why) accepting all the defaults offered.
I can make a connection to the server with "SQL Server Management Studio Express", create a database and add one two tables and views.
But all other things I've tried seem to go wrong without me having the slightest idea why, e.g.:
% SQLCMD.EXE -S swansqlexpress HResult 0xFFFFFFFF, Level 16, State 1 SQL Network Interfaces: Error getting enabled protocols list from registry [xFFFFFFFF].
The above for instance when the protocol "Shared memory is enabled". If any combination of the other protocols are enabled, then I get a different error message.
I also cannot use the ODBC Management Tools to define a DSN connecting to SQLExpress ("Server does not exist or connection refused).
What I really want to do is to import data, using ODBC, from a different RDBMS into SQLExpress. Before writing my own scripts to do this, I had hoped that there would have been some GUI interface to SQLExpress with a nice little button saying "import external data". Is their such a beast?
I was in the process of creating additional TempDB.ndf files, and received an error saying they already exist. I checked the location and it was empty, nothing to see here. So I looked in sys.master_files and there are several tempdb files listed in various locations, all of which come up empty.
So the files are listed as online in sys.master_files, but they do not exist on the server. I restarted SQL services but it did not change anything.
For reasons that are not relevant (though I explain them below *), Iwant, for all my users whatever privelige level, an SP which createsand inserts into a temporary table and then another SP which reads anddrops the same temporary table. My users are not able to create dbo tables (eg dbo.tblTest), but arepermitted to create tables under their own user (eg MyUser.tblTest). Ihave found that I can achieve my aim by using code like this . . .SET @SQL = 'CREATE TABLE ' + @MyUserName + '.' + 'tblTest(tstIDDATETIME)'EXEC (@SQL)SET @SQL = 'INSERT INTO ' + @MyUserName + '.' + 'tblTest(tstID) VALUES(GETDATE())'EXEC (@SQL)This becomes exceptionally cumbersome for the complex INSERT & SELECTcode. I'm looking for a simpler way.Simplified down, I am looking for something like this . . .CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.TestInsert ASCREATE TABLE tblTest(tstID DATETIME)INSERT INTO tblTest(tstID) VALUES(GETDATE())GOCREATE PROCEDURE dbo.TestSelect ASSELECT * FROM tblTestDROP TABLE tblTestIn the above example, if the SPs are owned by dbo (as above), CREATETABLE & DROP TABLE use MyUser.tblTest while INSERT & SELECT usedbo.tblTest.If the SPs are owned by the user (eg MyUser.TestInsert), it workscorrectly (MyUser.tblTest is used throughout) but I would have to havea pair of SPs for each user.* I have MS Access ADP front end linked to a SQL Server database. Forreports with complex datasets, it times out. Therefore it suit mypurposes to create a temporary table first and then to open the reportbased on that temporary table.
Dear All, i have a question abt winCE 4.2 and SQL server CE. i am using VB.net of Visual Studio 2005 My platform is using a PDA with winCE 4.2 and SQL server CE. The Host program is using dbf files on desktop side.
I got a problem of how to sync / read the sql CE data from a windows application.
so, i wanna ask,
1. any method to access the data from winCE data by windows application? or can i convert the sdf file to windows readable files? or any others?
2. Can i use a MDB to sync with SQL server CE? can i synchronize the mobile device which has a SQL Server CE database with the Access database on the desktop?
last question, 3. is that windows CE .net 4.2 not support pocket access (cdb) anymore?
which one is smarter, where there is no indexing on the table which is really simple table delete everything or recreate table. I got an argument with one of my coworker. He says it doesnt matter i say do delete. Any opinions.
Hi, i am working with windows mobile Cf 2.0 and desktop. i got problem when i were trying to synd mobile database and ms-access database. my requirement is online i want to transfar data records from mobile to desktop vice versa. but how? i dont knwo any body would like to guide me. i am ready to accepting yours valuable views. waiting bye Rajat.
I don't understand why I am having this error. It does create the database on AddSubscription() method but it is failing opening the database on Synchronise(). I have also tried uninstalling and then reinstalling all the SQL Mobile components in the following order.
I have a couple questions. I'm very new to SQL and I have this problem: I need to be able to drop the contents of Existingtable_B into Newtable_A - I found this command (below) that will make a 'copy' but I don't want to keep the contents of Existingtable_B. Is it possible to drop them into Newtable_A instead of copy? Also, I want to do this for 5 tables on Sundays at midnight.. how could I schedule that? Finally, what happens if there is not enough space or some other critical error happens during this procedure? I don't want to lose the data.
Hi,When I drop a table in Sqlserver 2000 database, The following error occurs:Server: Msg 1204, Level 19, State 1, Line 1The SQL Server cannot obtain a LOCK resource at this time. Rerun yourstatement when there are fewer active users or ask the system administratorto check the SQL Server lock and memory configuration. What's wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
Hi everybody,I need some help in SQL Server. I am looking for a command that will "Dropall user table" in auser database. Can anyone help me?Thank you very muchSabrina
I am unable to get the table in the following VB code to actually DROP. A straight SQL version with literals (no variables) runs "successfully" as a query but the table also fails to DROP. Can anybody explain what I'm doing wrong?
suggested that this problem could be circumvented by getting the replication object early and then continuously using the same object for subsequent replications.
I did this and it works a lot better now but ever so often I get another error which is
Native Error 28559 SQL Mobile encountered problems when opening the database
My only option at this point is to stop and start the application which cures the problem.
