I have a .xlsx file, in that file I get data from the 3rd row. Using SSIS I am converting .xlsx file into .csv file. I am able to convert it but in the .csv file the data are populating from the first row itself. I want to get data in 3rd row it self.

I need to generate a csv file from another csv file, seems to be simple but let's go the trick thing:
Needs to have maximum 1000 lines, if I reach to this, I need to create another csv and fill that new one.
Exemplifying:
I have a csv file called fileA and this has 2000 lines and another csv called fileB with 1500 lines.
I need to loop a folder and get the fileA, create an output called FileAOutput and start to fill that, if I reach to 1000 lines, I need to create a FileAOutput_2 and fill the other 1000 lines...so I'll go to fileB and do the same thing, but in the second case, I'll have 500 lines in the second output.

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust attempting to import a simple tab delimited text file into my SQL Server 2005 database using the SQL Server Import and Export wizard. Column names are specified within the first line of the file. The Header Rows to Skip field value is listed as 0, but the wizard indicates that "The field, Header rows to skip, does not contain a valid numeric value".
Why isn't zero (0) a valid numeric value? I don't want to skip any rows. PLUS, I get the same error when trying to export to a text file although the header rows to skip field does not exist. I can increase the number to 1 or more, but the wizard will skip part of my data .. unacceptable.
What am I missing here? I installed SP1 of SQL server 2005, but that did not help.

I have a flat file.I am trying to set the value for the property "HeaderRowsToSkip" during runtime.I have set an expression for this in my "flat file connection manager". But this is not working.The connection manager is not able to take the value during runtime.
My expression is as follows:
DataRowsToSkip : @[user:: Var]
where "Var" is my variable which gets the value from the rowcount component and trying to set it back to the "HeaderRowsToskip" property.
I ve even tried setting the value to the "HeaderRowsToSkip" property in the expression builder.
Its not working....
Can anyone help me out in solving this????

I have a conditional split in an SSIS package - one split is where if rows are returned according to a specific rule, then insert those rows into to a Recordset Destinationm which points to a variable of Object type.
How I can use this variable to email fellow users. For example, what I would like is if ANY rows are returned to the Object variable (1 or more), then I would like to execute an email SP that we have on our server.
I am facing an issue that Data flow task failing after loading 29000 rows out of 2lakhs rows.
I am loading data from .csv file to OLE DB Destination.
This data flow task is placed inside For each loop container.
is this issue because of any performance issue in SSIS packages such as buffer size.

How do I add only new rows to a destination table (when copying a table from another database every night) ?Every night I am copying a number of tables from one database to another.I only want to insert news rows (that are not in the destination table, but are in the source table) to the destination table.I might normally drop the destination table and just copy over the whole table, but in this case rows can be deleted from the source table, but I want to keep these old rows in the destination table (to maintain history). So I only want to add in rows to the destination table that have been added to the source table since last time.I guess I could copy the whole of the source table to a temporary table in the warehouse, then use a T-SQL merge command to compare and just add new rows to the destination table- but suspect that this is not the best way.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm working with integration services 2008 and I have a package where I selected a certain set of rows from an Oracle database and then I insert this data set into a SQL database. When the package is inserting in SQL database, it shows that all the rows were inserted, "green", but when I check the amount of data (I count), it's not the same as it was in Oracle.
For example: there are 15390 rows in Oracle and the packages inserts sometimes 9801, 8310, 9952, 9934, 9975, 5437, 9909 rows in SQL server.The package does not abort! It simply does not insert all the rows!
I have a package in which there are only one Data flow Task and it has only three components. 1) Source , which is a SQL db 2) destination and 3) OLE DB Destination flat file Error output file. I want the error file to be created ONLY if there is any error while dumping the data into destination DB. But , the issue is, the error flat file is being created inspite of No error while dumping the data from Source to Destination.

Scenario: Have created a package that successfully outputs Dynamiclly named flat files { Format: C:Test’Comms_File_’ + ‘User::FileNumber’+’_’+Date +’.txt’
E.g.: Comms_File_1_20150724.txt, Comms_File_2_20150724.txt etc} using Foreach Loop Container :
* Enumerator Set to: “Foreach ADO Enumerator” with the ADO object source variable selected to identify how many total loop iterations there are i.e. Let’s say 4 thus 4 files to be created
*Variable Mappings : added the User::FileNumber – indicates which file number current loop iteration is i.e. 1,2,3,4
For the DataFlow task have a OLDBSource and a FlatFile Destination where Flat File ConnectionString is set up as:

All this successfully creates these 4 files:

Now the QUESTION is how do I get these filenames as I need to insert them into a DB Audittable. The audit table looks like this:

I have a ssis package where I need to have excel destination. In the Excel file, I need to have few rows with some text and then populate data below the text. One the text is like this:
Data as of: 08/25/2015
if the report ran today, then Data as of will have Yesterday. So, if the user opens that excel file after a week, then user should see same Data as of: 08/25/2015. not today()-day(1).
I was planing to handle on excel side with today()-day(1). but it only works the day it was run. Then the excel file is open after few days later, then it might as Data as of: 08/30/2015 which is not true. It should still stay Data as of:
08/25/2015 on what ever date the excel file is open. The SSIS package runs only once.
How do I handle this so that whenever user open the file, they will see Data as of: 08/25/2015. This is not a column in excel. It is like a description of data in excel.
I am running my package in sql server 2012, in which i am giving network path for flat file destination. And its working fine. But if i give m local path, its giving me error " cannot open data file" ...

Is there a way to split at this point and put the 12 rows in a different location? The task is twofold - I don't need these control rows in my data and I need value of "records" to verify loaded number of rows.
UPDATED: After some testing I found out that the Flat File source does not see that footer at all. This is good and bad - I do want to load this metedat into some other tables.

I have created a File System task which is contained in a Foreach Loop Container. I have .bak files that are populating a directory from a maintenance backup plan.
There is a point where I need to delete the .bak file's after I've zipped them all up.
How do I set the SourceVariable to read through the directory and pick up just the .bak file's in the directory to delete.
I need to move specific files from a server to another server on a monthly basis. There are hundreds of files that are in the source directory and I need to move approximately 40 of those to the destination server. I would like to easily add or delete the file list as needed. I have seen where several variables were created for for each file name (and one for the path) and the ForEach Loop would go through them. With 40 or more I was thinking that I could make a connection to an Excel spreadsheet or text file with a record for each file name and read in and and move to the next record and make that value become the content of a "FileName" variable. Then if I wanted to add another file name I could just add another record to spreadsheet/text file or remove and the package would handle automatically....

Right now I'm stuck with a road blocker, The issue is the shared drive contains all the history files as well and I have to pick only the latest file. But I cannot identify latest file based on the file name because it doesn't contain any date in the file name. However by seeing file properties I can pull latest file.
Sample file name: XXX_XXX_XXX_XXX_XXX-5814201.csv
Is there any way we can automate this in SSIS with file properties and picking the latest one?
I have data rows ( 7 rows and hundreds of colums) obtained by using execute sql task and i placed the output in CSV. Then I also moved this data in csv into excel (first row of excel)using simple data flow task with flat file source(CSV) and excel destination connections. However, I need to push data into 3rd row of excel sheet(I need to write some description and titles in the first two rows) .I need to do this inorder to automate the process of producting the excel which has predefined pivot tables. I only need to update the excel sheet with raw data( 3rd row) which drives the pivot tables. How do I do this? How do i push into the third row instead of first?

i have this particular problem with the unpivot.The below is my flat file source.The dates can go upto 130 columns.this count can also vary.SM,SR,SB are again values repeating for diff instrument.They are the values of the instrument on the particular dates.This is a snap shot of one feed.Other feeds may have the dates differing.How do i read this file.
Problem 1:If i skip the first row and unpivot the 2nd row,then with the new feed,with new dates my SSIS package will bomb as it will not find the col names.
Problem 2:IF i uncheck the "Use first row as column headers" then the problem 1 is solved but the o/p will be

I have an EXECUTE SQL Task, which gets a result-set from SQLServer using OLEDB Connection.
The result set is mapped to an object variable , say @[User::FilePath]
There are 33 row is the above resultset.
Then, I have a For-each loop, inside which, I have a Script task .
I am trying to put the above @[User::FilePath] recordset into a DataTable using DataAdapter.Fill() function. I perform some read operations to its rows.
The problem is , in the First Iteration of For-Each-Loop, the number of rows in data-table shows 33.
But from the Next Iteration, it comes out to be 0. (ZERO!!)
This causes my package to fail.

I'm having a problem with a flat file source in that the package throws an error straight away. The error I get is as follows:
Information: 0x4004300C at Data Flow Task, SSIS.Pipeline: Execute phase is beginning.
Error: 0xC0202091 at Data Flow Task, Flat File Source [2]: An error occurred while skipping data rows.
Error: 0xC0047038 at Data Flow Task, SSIS.Pipeline: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PRIMEOUTPUTFAILED.
The PrimeOutput method on Flat File Source returned error code 0xC0202091. The component returned a failure code when the pipeline engine called PrimeOutput(). The meaning of the failure code is defined by the component, but the error is fatal and the pipeline stopped executing. There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure.
I've tried multiple things to resolve this.. Changing the OutputColumnWidth in the flat file connection manager, checking the file for any irregularites in notepad++ (each line ends as it should with CRLF), the file is encoded in UTF-8 without BOM .
there is a way to write an if statement for a derived column to count rows?
for example:

formula that when it gets to row 100. it will go back and look at 35 and use that data if the 7010 = 7010, if not use 7011,,,

The flat file does not even have column names and no datatypes defined.
How to load data in the wide table?
Also if i choose to load the data in 13 different work tables.
