Integration Services :: Importing From Complicated Excel Files

I have several regular reports that are produced by different offices that I need to import the data from. Â The challenge lies in the fact that the reports are not simply columns of data. Â Some cells are labels, others contain data, and some contain both. Â Also, the formatting of the reports isn't strictly uniform from office to office. Â Is it possible to read this kind of sheet? Â Excel data sources seem to just define everything in a column as data, and that doesn't work for me. Â Is there an alternative, or perhaps a more manual way of defining what cells contain data?

We have a 2014 SQL Server. I have a SSIS package written in VS 2008 where I am simply importing an .xlsx into an existing table via a mapped drive. I have it working on my development machine using the 2007 Access 32 bit driver from [URL]..... Our DBA is trying to schedule the package to execute on a schedule job on the 2014 server and we received an error. He installed the 32 bit driver and still getting the error. I set the package to run in 32 bit and we are still getting the error.

I have 2 different excel files file1 and file2. file1 should be loaded to table1 and file2 should be loaded to table2. Both of the files will have 1 sheet inside. Do I need to create separate excel source for file1 and file2? I mean file1 in one excel source and that will be connecting to 1 execute sql task. file2 in other excel source and that will be connecting to another execute sql task. Is this the way I should proceed or is there any looping should be done? I need to schedule this activity to run every week. So, I'll get new files every week with the same file names and sheet names. Do I need to consider anything for this requirement also?

have an excel file which contains lots of sheets. Some of them are named as DW-<day>-<month> (for e.g; DW-1-July). Like this I have sheets for the whole month. I have other sheets too with a different name. I would like to import data from these sheets only (DW ones). Upon my research I have found that this can be achieved via For Each Loop Container.
I have multiple excel Files  each has one sheet (With same column names) need to be loaded in a single table. I tried For each loop but couldn't succeed. Â

I have a SSIS package which reads an excel file and loads data into a table using script component(C#) as a source. The package runs without any errors when I manually run it on my machine and on the server. But the package fails when run as a SQL Server Agent job.
I tried all the possible fixes I found on the web but still can't get it to work.
I have a client who is sending me 800+ excel files each month with sales data. Each of the files is identical in structure, but has sales data for different stores. I receive all these files at the same time.
Is there a method with Data Transformation Services where I can have it work off of all the files in a given directory. I can set up DTS to work off of specific Excel files with no problem, but what I would like to do is set up a DTS so it could pull from each of the 800+ files.
Is this possible, or do I need to look at a solution outside of SQL to consolidate the Excel files first?
The Excel file would have columns similar to the following: store_id, zip_code, sales, transactions.

I'm having a tough time importing some of my legacy database into sql. I have a number of dbase (IV) files I need to get into SQL. I have tried building a SSIS package with either an foxpro oledb connection or a jet 4.0 one, none of them work bec. of inconsistencies in the data format in my tables (e.g. date fields, etc).
I have tried to save the .dbfs as excel 2007 files, taking advantage of the larger space that comes with '07. Problem is you can't use the import/export wizard with 2007 for some reason and I haven't been able to create a package with the access 12 oledb as I have read.
I have to get some crucial data out of that old system and into the new one and I can't seem to be able to import them properly.
Any hints on what I should do ? (maybe I'm doing something awfully wrong)

I am going to set up a new SSIS package that will import data into 5 different tables on a SQL Server database. Â The source of the data is on another SQL Server and I will use to select the data. Â If one of the tables fail to import I do not want the SSIS package to import any of the data.What is the best way to create this package? I am new to SSIS and C#. In SQL Server 2008 I am importing data from a .csv file. Now I have the columns dynamic. They can be around 22 columns (some times more or less). I created a staging table with 25 columns and import data into it. In essence each flat file that I import has different number of columns. They are all properly formatted only. My task is to import all the rows from a .csv flat file including the headers. I want to put this in a job so I can import multiple files into the table daily.
So inside a for each loop I have a data flow task within which I have a script component. I came up(research online) with the C# code below but I get error:Index was outside the bounds of the array.I tried to find the cause using MessageBox and I found it is reading the first line and the index is going outside the bounds of the array after the first line.

If I have an XML without an XSD what is the best way to create and import data in SQL Server? I know I can use xsd.exe to create an XSD from my XML.
But if I want my structure to be somewhat different in SQL server how would I go about creating a reliable and repeatable import system for my data so i can easily manage the data updates?
I'm importing comma-delimited text files into a SQL table. The data imports in a seemingly random order. One time I import and the lines appear one way and the next time I import they import another way.
Is there a way to force the text files to import in the same order the data is found in the file?
I am copying files from one server to another and I have specific format for all jpg files. which is in 3 format

and I want to copy _reg files only using file system task.I have already created file sytem task using foreach loop and it is copying files but I want to copy only _reg files.
i have multiple folders in a directory and each folder contains multiple files of same extension but with different formats(columns) and names(xmp: file aand file b). We have a data task in which we are joining(merge) both files and loading into table..should i use foreach, but then it takes 1 file at a time and i need the other file also to join it in data flow.

Client uses an Amazon S3 bucket which they load flats files to .  They also expect files to be delivered there to.So at the minute I have an SSIS package (SQL2012 )  which I use to generate some files but then have to manually import the files to the S3 bucket as well as export others.Now Mike Yin ( For SQL2008R2 ) mentioned that you need to obtain PostgreSQL ODBC driver so that you can use the .Net ProvidersOdbc Data Provider for ADO.NET Source component to connect to the Amazon cloud storage. After that, you can use a OLE DB Destination to load the data to SQL Server database.Â
Installed both 32 and 64bit 9.03. New connection Manager ADO.NET  - New then drop the provider down to ODBC.Dataprovider.Then what ?  Do I put the S3 bucket address within the use connection string ?  Is there and example ? Why do I need the PostgreSQL ODBC as Im not connecting to a database just a S3 Bucket? Â
We run std 2008 r2, I need to recreate flat files from their varbinary(max) equivalents in our db. I have a mix of excel, pdf, word etc to recreate. Will ssis be a good tool for doing this?  I'm wondering what transform(s) would be involved.Â
Perhaps I need to cast to varchar 1st and then land the data but if I recall correctly there is a maximum record length in ssis destination flat file rows. And I'm thinking I would have to map the varbinary (or cast equiv) to a row in the destination once for each file created.  Â
