SSIS (Integration Services) Transfer SQL Server Objects Task: This Task Can Not Participate In A Transaction
Feb 1, 2007In short, does the €œTransfer SQL Server Objects Task€? support distributed transactions?
In trying to use a €œTransfer SQL Server Objects Task€? in a container using a transaction on the container. The task is set to support the transaction. It is setup to copy table data from several tables from a non-domain server (sql server 2000) to a domain-based server (sql server 2005). I get an error stating, €œThis task can not participate in a transaction€?.
I am wondering if it means exactly what it says €“ this task in SSIS can€™t participate at all. Or does it mean that it won€™t in this scenario for some reason. I attempted a simple copy of data from mssql 2005 to mssql 2005 (same server) and the task still failed). MSDTC appears to be running properly on my machine and such (I can do a simple distributed transaction across linked server to the 2000 server in Query Analyzer (QA)). Also, MSDTC appears to be working on both servers with distributed transaction query tests in QA.

Aug 14, 2015Is it possible to parameter the connection of a Lookup Transformation task - specifically the table/view name? I would like to be able to dynamically set the table that the Lookup Transformation is connecting to at runtime.I've looked into the "Use results of an SQL query" on the connection screen (which correlates to the "SqlCommand" property), but I'm unable to pass in a parameter this way.I've also looked into the SqlCommandParam, but that doesn't allow me to use a parameter in the "FROM" clause of the sql syntax.

First part of my Package runs a Execute SQl Task and result set (single row, single column) is a comma separated list of Unique Record Ids which have been updated in last hour. (i.e. FJ1,FJ2,FJ3) I capture this result in a variable and when I User script taks to display the value of this property, it appears as it should be.I pass this Variable to Execute SQL Task on Different ODBC Server using a Stored Procedure.My SQL Statement is as Following

And then I have assigned my Variable (as SQL_Longvarchar) to Parameter 1 in Parameter mapping Section. (ParameterSize is -1) but it doesnt delete the records from the table. (I ran the SP manually in Workbench and it works as expected) Then i had an Idea and
as part of my SP I started making entries in a Temp table just to see whats coming up as variable. Insert in the table shows only first Charecter from the variable and which is why its not deleting any records.I can not find why my variable is being truncated.

Hence I am not able to connect to the server through the FTP task connection manager. Is there a way to connect to the server and send file using the encrypted password, so that we don't require the actual password to run the process successfully?

My requirement is i need to call a web service URL through script task which is having a client certificate. When we are trying to connect to the URL it will ask for the certificate authentication. After calling this URL we will get a WSDL file from the web service, We need to consume that WSDL file and we need to identify the methods inside this WSDL and need to write the data available in this WSDL to the data base tables.
How can we call that web service URL( With certificate) through script task and how can we read the WSDL file and How we can load the data into DB table.

So, int the Execute Process task editor I put the following

TestSource and TestDest are folder names,
And I want all the files in the source folder to be copied to the destination folder.

I have an Execute SQL Task that saves the results in a variable such as, RecCounts.
I have a Send Mail Task with a message source of: [User::RecCounts]
However, when I run the package I get this error.
Error: Failed to lock variable "[User::RecCounts]" for read access with error 0xC0010001 "The variable cannot be found.
This occurs when an attempt is made to retrieve a variable from the Variables collection on a container during execution of the package, and the variable is not there. The variable name may have changed or the variable is not being created.".

Jun 19, 2015I am using a OLE DB source task and i want to setup a parameter in the select statement. Is this possible and how would this be done. I know you can pass a parameter in the where clause like:
select id, lname, fname, startDate, endDate from Employee where id = ?
How would i set startDate and endDate as parameters as i would like to be able to change these parameters when running the package. I would like to set dates in the select statement as parameters like how you would in the where clause.
Select id, lname, fname, ? startDate, ? endDate, from employee where id = ?
I would like to be able to change these dates without having to go in to the package and hard code it back in there and then deploy.
The package uses a OLE DB source to Flatfile Destination.

May 23, 2015I'm writing my first SSIS custom task. I have added Public properties, which appear in the standard task properties window, and to one of them I have added an EditorAttribute as follows:

When I select the FilesToArchive property in the Properties window, I get an ellipsis that appears in the property value. When I click on the ellipsis, it brings up the FolderBrowserDialog, which is defined in the UIFileNameEditor class. This all works fine.
What I want to do is to bring up the EditorUI, the one you get when you double click on the task, and also populate that with properties which can be edited. I have a class which inherits DTSBaseTaskUI, which is displayed when I double click on the task.
I can also get properties to be displayed in that UI but I cannot get them to be editable in that UI, using the same technique as in the standard Properties window, as described above.

May 25, 2015If, in an SSIS package, you put an instance of an 'Execute SQL Task' task in the Control Flow, in the Properties window, you can see the properties of the task, for example CodePage.
If you double click on the task, the Execute SQL Task Editor appears, with several of the properties which are also in the Properties window, including CodePage.
If, in the Editor, you update the value of CodePage, then click OK, the value of CodePage in the Properties window is updated immediately.
I have written a custom SSIS task, which also has the same properties in the Properties window and in the Editor. The Editor also has an OK button. When OK is clicked, the values of the task properties are updated. An example property is FolderToArchive. If I open the Editor, change the value of FolderToArchive and click the OK button, the value of FolderToArchive in the Properties window is NOT immediately updated.
If, however, I select the FolderToArchive field in the Propertiesd window, it is then updated with the value I entered in the Editor.
How do I get my task to update the values in the Properties window, after changing a value in the Editor, when I click the OK button?
I would have thought I would need something like, in pseudo-code,
   Task.Parent.PropertiesWindow.Refresh
   where task is of type Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Task and Task.Parent is of type Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Package.

Jul 10, 2015I have an execute process task set up to run ftp.exe and a script argument. Â The ftp.exe is referenced in the executable field without a qualified path. Â The package just seems to know it's there relatively. Â I need to change this to run a secured ftp executable that I recently installed on my pc. Â I put the new executable in the WindowsSystem32 folder where the old ftp.exe is stored. Â But when I put the new executable in the executable field, it says the 'File/Process "FTPS.exe" is not in path'. Â I get the same error when I fully qualify the path. Â Is there something I need to do with the new executable for SSIS to pick it up without having to fully qualify the path?

Aug 4, 2015I'm using the FTP Task in SSIS to send files. They task succeeds but the files get uploaded to the wrong folder. Instead of being sent to the cg268301 folder they are being sent to the cg268300 despite selecting /cg268301 from the remote path field in the FTP task editor.
I've tried uploading this file to the /cg268301 file using an execute process task and it works fine. I just don't know why it won't work with the FTP task.

Oct 2, 2015I am working with SQL Server 2012. I have deployed a SSIS project that has 2 packages in it. The package connection manager (Test) uses an expression to evaluate one of the Project parameter value (TestConnectionString) to set its ConnectionString property.
This works fine in a Dev environment. However when deployed to UAT, it keeps failing with the error:Â
PackageExport:Error: The result of the expression
"@[$Project::TestConnectionString]" on property
"Package.Connections[Test].Properties
[ConnectionString]" cannot be written to the property. The expression was evaluated, but cannot be set on the
property.
I can not seem to find what the issue could be. I have come across [URL] .... where it says: "If the package contains project parameters, the package execution may fail." but offers no solution.Â

Integration Services :: Adding Values To A Drop Down List In Custom SSIS Task
May 12, 2015I am writing my first custom SSIS task and I can see that, if I put a public property into the task, I see that property in the standard Properties window. If I add a property of type String, I can put a value in that property, in the task code, and when I instantiate the task in a package, I can see the value I entered.
To try and get a drop down list property in the Properties window, I declared a property of type Combobox, and indeed a drop down list appears in that property.
My problem is trying to get values in that property. I have used the test items:
   Property.Items.add("Fred")
   Property.Items.Add("Jim")
But I do not see the values in the drop down list. All I do see is one item with a value of "(none)".
