I have excel column with numeric and special character values , when I take that into SQL table using SSIS, the special character values enter as null value. the example column values are given bellow
1
2
2/1
1/2
1/2 means 1 or 2 ,
how can I read this values exactly into SQL table?
Trying to upload excel in server where excel is not installed. BIDs was there in the server, when i am trying to craete Excel source I am not able.what the workround for this.. How to upload excel without excel installed on the server.
We have 10 sheets in Excel File and 10 sheet contains errror data. How to load 9 sheets data in to 1 destination and error data in to other destination?
Is there anyway to send excel file from ssis using send mail task without saving the excel file locally. I need to automate the process which involves loading the excel file from the database and send it to some people.
We have a 2014 SQL Server. I have a SSIS package written in VS 2008 where I am simply importing an .xlsx into an existing table via a mapped drive. I have it working on my development machine using the 2007 Access 32 bit driver from [URL]..... Our DBA is trying to schedule the package to execute on a schedule job on the 2014 server and we received an error. He installed the 32 bit driver and still getting the error. I set the package to run in 32 bit and we are still getting the error.

I’ve been trying for a while now (won’t say how long), to get BIDS to read a very simple Excel file.
I’m talking SIMPLE!! No matter what I don, SSIS keeps throwing an error, and of course it doesn’t say what the error is, so I can’t really debug it.
I’ve tried this at least 20x with flat files, and it works perfect each time. I’ve done Data Conversions, Sorting, Union All, and several other Transformations; all work perfect.
Trying to used Excel as a data source, is proving to be a mind numbing experience. Of over 20 different attempts, it hasn’t worked even once. I can make it as simple as you can possibly imagine, and SSIS, refuses to even perform the first step (I’m not even trying to create a table in SQL Server anymore).
I have the Excel file path (very simple)
I have the Excel version (very simple)
I have the Connection Manager (very simple)
I have the Sheet name (very simple)
All I can do is see a preview of the Excel sheet before the process runs. As soon as I het F5, I get an instant error, for no reason whatsoever, and no debugging options, whatsoever.
I am experiencing unexpected behaviour when copying an Excel file.
An Excel file from TemplateDir to WorkingDir.
Excel file is then populated in WorkingDir, ok Copy File task copies Excel File from WorkingDir to FinalDir, however non populated version of file is copied.
However, if I stop SSIS and and execute Copy Task only, the populated version of file is copied.
It seems SSIS has a kind of lock on Excel file in WorkingDir.
how lock can be released to enable Copy of populated file.
I want to open a excel file in script task and assigned the wraptext to one of the column. In the below code the final variable gives the path of the excel file. But i got the error at excel.workbook.open.
Error: System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x800A03EC): Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A03EC at Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbooks.Open(String Filename, Object UpdateLinks, Object ReadOnly, Object Format, Object Password, Object WriteResPassword, Object IgnoreReadOnlyRecommended, Object Origin, Object Delimiter, Object Editable, Object Notify, Object Converter, Object AddToMru, Object Local,
I need to process a 2012 Excel file. In SSIS Connection Manager, I am only given an option until Excel 2007 version. When I use this in my connection for Excel Source, I am prompted with this error when I attempt to select the name of the sheet:
"Could not retrieve the table information for the connection manager 'Excel Connection Manager'.
Failed to connect to the source using the connection manager 'Excel Connection Manager'"
I have to perform several data checks before loading data into target table. For example I am having 1 flat file with below column
Id Name Age Int Varchar(100) Int
My requirement is to create package, checks will be performed on each record, column of the files. Any records which failed the checks considered as error records and will be written to the exception table.
I want to export the data into multiple sheets with same template, all the worksheets have to split dynamically with specific Sheet Name and template also copied to all other sheets
For Example:
Sheet Name: Guru Name Age Guru 24 Sheet Name: Johnson
Is there a way to change an image data type? I want to make a change to some deployed SQL 2008 SSIS deployed packages. I have a TSQL SELECT that searches the packages for a string. But I would like to be able to change a string. I have googled it but cannot find anything.
I have package which pulls data from db table and creates a excel file extract. The flow is like this - A excel file template sits in the input folder folder for processing .The package starts by dropping excel sheet in the excel(which is clearing any data and columns available) once that is done it has script task which creates a new columns for the sheet and gives a sheet name as well .Then a execute sql task runs and pumps data into a table which serves as a source for the excel extract process .The excel extract process involves pulling data from the table and doing data conversion before it moves it into the oledb destination (excel file on file server). When I run the package I go and see that data is pushed down . I see top rows say 100 are empty and data appears after say 100 rows .
I tried deleting excel file and replacing with new one empty with columns and sheet name only but still it doesnt work?I am trying to understand what is making ssis behave like this and what can I do overcome the problem ?I read on google that we need to bring in file system task will move a template to working directory which is input folder but I dont want it to incorporate that logic as we need to push this package to production ASAP with very minimal change.
My Requirement ,In Source Database 5 tables are there ( Emp,Loc,dept,Time,Product ), Destination is Single Excel file. But Dynamically how to load each table information to load into each sheet wise through SSIS Package?
I am trying to create and later read a data file from a package deployed in SSISDB, but it is not reading it while it is successfully creating the file. The same package when run from the file system package, runs successfully. Generating ispac and deploying in SSISDB is running for infinite time. Is it a permission issue?
I'm using SSIS 2005 Enterprise edition, I'm creating a package that reads an excel (xls) file using the "excel source" component, and it dumps the data into an OLEDB destination (a sql server). When I drag the excel source component and create the excel connection to my file the component automatically reads the columns and their datatypes.
The problem is that I have a column which has numeric data and the package uploads as NULL every number that starts with a zero. (note: in excel this column is formatted as "text", despite it has only numbers, because it's the only way excel maintains the left sided zeros).
So I checked the data types by right clicking the excel source component -> show advanced editor and my surprise is that this column's data type is detected as double-precision float, and it doesn't let me change it. URL... but it only works when the first row of data has a number beginning with zero on this column. How to get the data imported correctly?
I have an excel sheet containing one column (ID_NO) with 400K rows. I have a database from where I have to fetch some other columns from a Netezza database. Initially I tried hardcoding all the 400K rows in the query that I wrote using filter WHERE ID IN ('1212','2334'). But after pasting all the 400K rows the query is running indefinitely.
I have imported all the ID in a SQL table (MY_LIST table). I used a DFT, and selected ODBC source, and selected my netezza server. Then in the 'Data access mode' I selected the SQL command from the dropdown.I pasted the same query that I wrote in Netezza. Is there any way to pull only for those records that I have pulled in my SQL table (MY_LIST) ?
I am loading data using SSIS 2008 from a table in SQL Server 2008 DB to excel 97 sheet pre-defined with column headers. All the columns in excel is has 'Text' format property and the columns in the SQL Server table are defined as nVarchar. One of the columns has trailing spaces in few rows in DB but after exporting to excel 97, the spaces are gone. We need to retain the whitespaces in the column values. How can we do that.
I'm working on SSIS to load the data from flat file to sql server, I'm getting date in below format, but in sql server I have given data type datetime. how to convert below format to 16-01-15 12.05.19.1234 AM.
I am working to archive some old data from a data warehouse using SQL server and SSIS. The data will be read and denormalized, then shipped out to a delimited text file.
The rowcount of the incoming data is significant, call it 10M+ rows per unit of work (one text file).
There are development advantages of using a stored proc for the data source - mainly ease of changing the denormalization logic as required. Wondering if there are performance advantages of an embeded query for the data source instead?
It was mentioned by one developer that when using a stored procedure, the output stream from the proc and subsequent SSIS steps cannot start until the full procedure processing is complete; i.e. the proc churns out its' result set in one big chunk.
He hinted that an embedded query does not have this same effect, but I am not sure that is accurate.
I have a delimited text file with 650+ columns. The sum of the column lengths of a single row, if fully populated, exceeds 30K bytes. The "killer" fields lengthwise are the "Description" fields. If they were removed from the input file, the remainig columns would occupy about 5000 bytes, which is within SQL max row length.
Can SSIS be used to created these two tables? (one without description fields, the other with those field but arranged vertically in the table rows).
The fundamental issue is I can not import a single file row into a sql table because that row length could exceed the max byte count for a row.
We have created SSIS package to load a text file into a table. Source system shares 10 text files and recently they stopped generating data for one of the text file (comping empty), after few months they will start generating the data for the empty file batch processing.
The Issue here is Data Flow task is getting failed while loading empty text file into table. How to handle this empty file load issue in SSIS package.
I have a ssis package where I need to have excel destination. In the Excel file, I need to have few rows with some text and then populate data below the text. One the text is like this:
Data as of: 08/25/2015
if the report ran today, then Data as of will have Yesterday. So, if the user opens that excel file after a week, then user should see same Data as of: 08/25/2015. not today()-day(1).
I was planing to handle on excel side with today()-day(1). but it only works the day it was run. Then the excel file is open after few days later, then it might as Data as of: 08/30/2015 which is not true. It should still stay Data as of:
08/25/2015 on what ever date the excel file is open. The SSIS package runs only once.
How do I handle this so that whenever user open the file, they will see Data as of: 08/25/2015. This is not a column in excel. It is like a description of data in excel.
