Hi all,
I have installed the The Microsoft Report Viewer 2008 Redistributable Package and I add the report viewer component to my toolbox list.
while viewing the report viewer in my solution ...i was getting the error as given below..
Note:
InnerException = {"The report definition is not valid.
Details: The report definition has an invalid target namespace
'http://schemas.microsoft.com
/sqlserver/reporting/2007/01/reportdefinition' which cannot be upgraded."}
I watched and followed the Intro to VB 2008 Express, but in the final part of the video, when you add a database, i did everything as the video says, still i get:
An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is: Unable to load DLL 'sqlceme35.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)
Ive tried the fix stated in another forum, the one about changing the "Target CPU" but the option doesn appear, what does appear its the "Platfrom" dropdown list, but its fixed to "Any CPU" and dont have any more options.
Ive also downloaded Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 ENU and "re-installed" and selected repair, followed the steps, rebooted and still nothing.
in visual studio web developer express edition 2008 i added a new item this was a sql server database which i called test2. I have an application built using VS 2008 (3.5 fx). I build a series of reports (using VS 2005 (sigh)) and am now tryiing to render them using a Windows form and the ReportViewer control in the VS 2008 app. However I always get the error message "The source of the report definition has not been specified" when I execute the line
m_reportViewer.RefreshReport();
When I try to view the very same report in a VS 2005 app it renders without error. I can also view the report using Report Manager and preview it in the VS 2005 app I use to build it. Any suggestions?

I want to export file such as .csv, xml , word from ReportViewer in visual studio 2008 but when I run on ASP.NET .net framework 2.0, it can export only excel & pdf files. But in business intelligent project in Visual Studio 2005 I can export all files that I want. How can I export file from reportviewer in visual studio 2008 run on web application?
(1) I have already installed of SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition first.
(1) Can I install visual studio 2008 without the 2005 express edition of SQL server? Will be any problems because I don't have express edition of SQL server? Do I need to install the express edition of SQL server as well?
(3) How to use SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition instance on visual studio 2008?
hii download free starter kit timetraker application( i downloaded both Visual web devaloper and sql server express from the Internet) when i tried to run it it is showing the following errorAn error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. I've installed Visual Basic 2005 express edition & tried to connect to SQL Server 2005 express edition. I noticed that VB2005 Express Edition doesn't have any OLEDB provider for SQL Server. The only OLEDB Provider is for M.Access. Is this correct? if so, what should i do if i want to connect SQL Server 2005 express edition with VB2005 express edition by using OLEDB connection type?

I have a SQL Server CE 3.1 database, which I want to connect to. Browsing through the documentation, It's not clear to me which tools to use for this. I have installed VS 2005 express edition (with sp1), but it can't connect to .sdf and version VS 2008 only connects to SS CE 3.5. The tools installation file ssce31vstools-ENU.exe file doesn't install on express edition it seems, as I get an error message, that the patch is not valide. I also installed the SS Management studio, but it doesn't seem to be able to handle .sdf.
Am I missing something obvious here? I am simply trying to access and modify a SS CE 3.1 databse... Thanks for the help Christophe Bouhier

I work for a school district and our business lab is looking at using Visual Studio.net and since MSDE is being replaced by SQL Server Express 2005, will that work with Visual Studio.net for creating applications.
I already have SQL Server Express 2005 installed from having Visual Studio 2005 installed. How can I tell if it is the SP2 edition? It probably isn't, so my next question is what is going to happen when I install Visual Studio 2008, which I will be doing in a day or two...will the install overwrite SQL Server Express 2005 with the latest edition to SP2, assuming that the latest edition will be on the Visual Studio 2008 installation discs? I have not yet used SQL Server Express, so my knowledge level with it is very weak. What I'm hoping to find out with this question is what I'll have (with respect to SQL Server Express) and the install of Visual Studio 2008. I can't even figure out how to tell what version of SQL Server Express that I now have.
I successfully installed .NET framework v 3.5 and VWD 2008 on a new Vista laptop. When I want to add a Sql Server database to a website, errors tell me to install SS 2005 Express. MSDN SS 2005 Express download tells me I MUST first install .NET framework v 2.0 before SS 2005. When I try to install framework v 2.0, I'm sent to v. 3.5 and no way to download SS 2005.
How does one install a express sql server to run with Visual Web Developer 2008?
I have an application written with Visual Basic Express 2008, which has a Sql Server Express Compact database incorporated into the application. I've been trying to follow the suggestions listed on several threads on how to backup up my database and have not gotten very far. The following code seems to be in most threads.

When run, this code returns the following error at the sqlconn.Open() command.
An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file G:ImmuLogImmuLoginDebugImmuLogDataBase.sdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share.
My solution is saved on a flash drive which I take between home and work. I'm hoping that that isn't the issue. I believe that Visual Basic loads the database when it starts and it is already open when this code is run. Is there a way to access this open database and run a backup procedure on it from within VB express 2008?

I have made my website using SQL Server Express edition. It is totally database driven and manypages use databases to display data. My problem is that after paying for webhosting fees my web host told me that they do not support SQL Server express edition. Instead they have support for MySQL and Ms Access. Except that there is this MS 2000 Database service for an additional cost. Any recommendations what I should do except changing the host? If I pay for MS 2000 Database servicem, will my website work? My user management(i.e ASPNETDB database) was created by Visual Web developer and I don't want to do user management myself. Any advice?
hello eveyone..i have just downloaded and installed the visaul web developer 2005 express edition and sqlserver 2005 express edition.On top of that i even downloaded and installed the northwind database.But my problem is when i am connecting to the northwind database by clicking toos menu>connect to the database>choose datasource>new connection>..i have provided it with the required information..but as soon as i press "Test Connection" button the following error box displays.. We are new to SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. We are going to develope a solution for one of our client and we have to decide on which database to use for the solution. Client wanted to have a low cost solution. Thus we were not in a position to push them for SQL Sever 2000.
In the process, we also thought of having MySQL as one of the option. Another option we have is to use SQL Server 2005 Express Edition.

I'm trying to Add or Delete rows froma VB 2005 Express Function or Sub. While the program is running everything is ok. Except when restarted added records are gone and deleted records are back.

In every version "SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio" was missing. I uninstalled and reinstalled both version but always "SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio" was not available and the computer could not find devenv.exe file.

I want to design a report in which it will contain fields derived from 2 different stored procedures. I understand a 'table' can display data from a single dataset. How can i bind these two stored procedures into a single dataset so as when i click on the table and use its property 'DataSetName', to be able to select the dataset which holds all columns from stored proc 1 and stored proc 2. How can i link multible tables ( multible stored procedures with different column names in each one) into a single dataset to feed the report?
I have created a database using VB Express 2005 express edition and I have created number of tables and SP's etc.
I am trying to use the database diagram tool but I get an error stating that the database doesn't have a valid dbo. I say yes to the prompt about making myself a valid dbo but I then get a message stating that I do not have permissions to imprersonate the dbo.

I am developing a project in vb.net. I have an object data source which is a class. I added a report1.rdlc file. I want to display the records of my object data source on this rdlc file and view them in the reportviewer, which is on my main form.
I dragged and dropped the fields from the datasource window onto the .rdlc design file. I also made the connections in the reportviewer using the smart tag. But when i execute, it displays the report1.rdlc file in the viewer but with no records on it.
