Message When Performing End User Sort

Aug 29, 2007

Hi,
I have added interactive sort to report. When i perform the sort in the preview of the report, i see a message 'Report is being generated'. But when i do the sorting from Report viewer control, the screen goes blank before the sorted data comes up.
Is there any way I can display a message telling sorting is in progress?
Any help in this regard is appreciated.

Thanks.

DB Engine :: BCP Output Is Performing Ascending Sort Based On Values Of First Column

Jun 24, 2015

As bcp does not allow for the column names to be included; I have developed a method for providing the columns. The end result is that two Tables are required for each output; a "ColumnNames" table and the Table that contains the actual data; however the bcp command is sorting the data; why this is happening?

According to Microsoft, by default bcp will not apply any sorting unless specified.

Here is the command I am using to perform the bcp output: -

SET
@bcpCommand =(select
'bcp "SELECT * FROM GPReports.dbo.MIS001_BCPColumnNames UNION  SELECT * FROM GPReports.dbo.voltemp" queryout '
+ @FilePath+'
-c -t -T')

EXEC
master..xp_cmdshell
@bcpCommand

This is the bcp topic I referred to [URL] ....

I get an error message when deploying reports to the reportserver from microsoft visual studio.

error message : Error rsAccessDenied : The permissions granted to user '' are insufficient for performing this operation.

TargetServerURL : http://server.com/ReportServer$sql_2005

The Report server is configured to use a custom security extension. i can access the reportserver.

It looks like when i deploy the reports from VS. it does not pass any credentials to the report server. From the error message it looks like there is no username . How do i deploy reports to report server if we are using a custom security extension. How do i grant user rights to deploy report if we are using a custom security extension. Any idea. Thanks!

The Permissions Granted To User 'domainusername' Are Insufficient For Performing This Operation. (rsAccessDenied)

Jan 21, 2008

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me?

I have installed and configured sql server 2005 express edition with advanced services on an xp box, with the aim of using reporting services.

I have set up reporting services successfully using the report manager, with my web services id = netwrokservice.

I can access both the report manager and report url locally, i.e while using localhost anjd on the machine. The problem arises however when i try to access

the reports from another machine, as i get the message:

"The permissions granted to user 'domainusername' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)"

when going to for example:

I have looked at various sites (including microsoft) in an attempt to find a solution to this and most sites give exmaples of how to configure the full

version of reporting services which i do not have. The things that I have managed to gleam and try are:

- open up security on dir: C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2Reporting ServicesReportServer to everyone and allow all access
- added my own username as a new role assigment in the report manager page
- added my own username to the reportserveruser and reportingserviceswebservicesuser roles, as indicated by microft:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms365166.aspx, who state that "Custom authentication extensions and custom role assignments are not supported. You

must map existing Windows domain user and group accounts to predefined role definitions."

Can anyone suggest where to look next as I cannot believe that this should be this difficult?

Many Thanks in advance

The Permissions Granted To User 'Domainuser' Are Insufficient For Performing This Operation. (rsAccessDenied)

Apr 25, 2008

Hi, I've scoured the forums and tried just about every answer to this problem without any success. What I have is SQL Server 2005 installed on a single machine, and trying to deploy reports to the same machine for testing purposes. When I try to deploy the report I receive the permissions error. Here's what I've gotten to at this point:

I can get to the reports URL (http://machine/Reports)

I can login to Reporting Services via SQL Server Management Studio as the administrator. (Windows Authentication)

I have added my login to the Home Folder-->Permissions in SQL Server Management Studio, and all reports are set to inherit the home folder's permissions

In Reporting Service Configuration Manager the Windows Service Identity is set to Local System, and for web service identity - ASP.NET Service Account is set to NT AuthorityNetworkService; Report Server and Report Manager are set to DefaultAppPool.

In IIS I tried enabling Anonymous Authentication

Current Application pools are set to "Classic" for Managed Pipeline mode (I did this to actually be able to login to Reporting Services via SQL Server management studio; having this set to integrated gives me an error)
What gets me is that this is entirely self-contained on one machine, that I set up as an administrator. So why do I get a permissions error when I am the admin on this machine deploying to this machine?

The Permissions Granted To User &&<MachineName&&>ASPNET' Are Insufficient For Performing This Operation.

Jul 25, 2007

Hi,

I wanted to deploy my Sql 2005 reports to my local machine and want it to get viewed by all the users through Asp.Net application.

User can directly view the reports by clicking on the direct link to report but when they try to view it using application having Report Viewer, running on iis it gives acess denied 401 error and can't view the reports

If I make my application to run on default port then it works fine

If I give rights to <particularMachineNameASPNET> then that user can view the report but if there are 100 users then will i Add 100 such entries???

I think I am making mistake in this case.

Any response will be appriciated.

Trying To Send Message To User

Jan 14, 2004

I am having a problem getting informational type messages to display for my end users.

I have a SQL2000 db with a Delfi front end. When I issue either the raiserror or print nothing is displayed inside the app. With raiserror I can get it to display if I make the severity higher than 10. The problem with this is that it stops the app from processing the transaction. This is ok in one case but not with just informational type stuff. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Cannot Open User Database Error Message AFTER I Connect And Log In.

Aug 29, 2006

Ok so I'm using the Management Studio Express and was able to log in and get into the database server, but I had to click the "options>>" button and change database I wanted to connect to from <<default>> to my database on the server or else I get the "cannot open user database, login failed" error message. Then I right click my database and it gives me the "Cannot open user database.  Login failed" error message, even though I already connected to the database to login during the connect screen. Also I'm able to interact with the database using SQL QUERIES in the Management Studio, like adding new tables with it, but if I right click the database and click "add table" I get that error. What gives?  I know I have permission since I was able to log on, and modify the database using SQL queries but if use the GUI I can't use it.  I can't even right-click select "properties" without getting that error. The reason I want to use the GUI is because I want to right click and use the backup feature of the database. My guess is that Management Studio continues to point to the default database(which gives me that message) after I already logged in, so I have no idea how to change the default database that management studio points to, to the one I do have permission to use. Thanks in advance.

Dynamic Sort Column And Sort Order Not Working

Aug 7, 2007

I am trying to set sorting up on a DataGrid in ASP.NET 2.0.  I have it working so that when you click on the column header, it sorts by that column, what I would like to do is set it up so that when you click the column header again it sorts on that field again, but in the opposite direction. I have it working using the following code in the stored procedure:   CASE WHEN @SortColumn = 'Field1' AND @SortOrder = 'DESC' THEN Convert(sql_variant, FileName) end DESC,
case when @SortColumn = 'Field1' AND @SortOrder = 'ASC' then Convert(sql_variant, FileName) end ASC,
case WHEN @SortColumn = 'Field2' and @SortOrder = 'DESC' THEN CONVERT(sql_variant, Convert(varchar(8000), FileDesc)) end DESC,
case when @SortColumn = 'Field2' and @SortOrder = 'ASC' then convert(sql_variant, convert(varchar(8000), FileDesc)) end ASC,
case when @SortColumn = 'VersionNotes' and @SortOrder = 'DESC' then convert(sql_variant, convert(varchar(8000), VersionNotes)) end DESC,
case when @SortColumn = 'VersionNotes' and @SortOrder = 'ASC' then convert(sql_variant, convert(varchar(8000), VersionNotes)) end ASC,
case WHEN @SortColumn = 'FileDataID' and @SortOrder = 'DESC' THEN CONVERT(sql_variant, FileDataID) end DESC,
case WHEN @SortColumn = 'FileDataID' and @SortOrder = 'ASC' THEN CONVERT(sql_variant, FileDataID) end ASC  And I gotta tell you, that is ugly code, in my opinion.  What I am trying to do is something like this:  case when @SortColumn = 'Field1' then FileName end,
case when @SortColumn = 'FileDataID' then FileDataID end,
case when @SortColumn = 'Field2' then FileDesc
when @SortColumn = 'VersionNotes' then VersionNotes
end

case when @SortOrder = 'DESC' then DESC
when @SortOrder = 'ASC' then ASC
end  and it's not working at all, i get an error saying:  Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'case' when i put a comma after the end on line  5 i get: Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'DESC' What am I missing here? Thanks in advance for any help -Madrak

Login Failed For User Message When Executing A Copy Of A Working Package

Jul 27, 2006

I notice when I copy an SSIS package 'A' to a new package 'B', the new package 'B' will generate a "login failed for user" message in the data flow components. To copy I "save copy of Package 'A' as."

Some config info:

Package ProtectionLevel = EncryptSensitiveWithPassword
Connections are Data Sources
Connection strings with password are stored using PackageConfigurations to an SQLServer table. I've verified Package 'A' is in fact using the config table (e.g. it is not using a password or user stored in the package)
Data connectios are all SQLServer Native OLE DB Client
The account is an SQLServer account (not integrated security)

The original Package 'A' works flawlessly and I get success when I test the connections in Package 'B'.

But executing package 'B' I get: The error message I get is: [Connection manager "MyConnection"] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E4D. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80040E4D Description: "Login failed for user 'dwuser'.".

Does anyone know why this would occur and/or how to work around it? I saw another thread where a potential workaround is to create a new data flow task and copy all the data flow components to that task. That won't work well for us because the data flow is moderately complex and when you copy and paste it, SSIS completely re-orders the layout.

This is a typical data warehouse ETL setup where there is a master package that executes child packages (e.g. 'A', and 'B' mentioned above) that each perform the ETL for a specific dimension or fact table.

Thanks for any help,

Lee Cascio

Jdbc Refuses Connection With 'user Not Associated With A Trusted SQL Server Connection' Message

Jul 10, 2007

When using jdbc with IntegratedSecurity, I run into this problem when the machine is not part of a domain & gets its IP address via dhcp. Is this expected behavior or a bug in the jdbc driver.

The SQLServer and client application are installed on the same machine and a local admin is logged in, running the client app.

If I change one of the two parameters mentioned above, the connection can be established leading me to believe this may be intentional for security issues. Am I correct?

&"Login Failed For User 'KNIGHT07Mousa&" Message

Apr 30, 2008

Hello guys..
I'm new to sql server and have been trying to connect to my database through vb.net code with a connection string held in an xml file, but it is not working. I get this folloing message:
quote:cannot open database: C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDataSQLBookEvaluation.mdf requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'KNIGHT07Mousa
I tried other databases that come with sql server 2005 express (by typing the database in the connection string and it works.

This is the connection string:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>

<Connection> data source=localhostsqlexpress;initial catalog= dbSQLBookEvaluation;Integrated Security=True;
</Connection>

and this the code that reads the connection string:
Imports System.Data.SqlClient
Imports System.Xml

Public Class ConnectBookEvalSQL
' Dim bookEvalConString As String
' Dim conBookEvaluation As New SqlClient.SqlConnection

Public Shared Function GetConnection() As SqlConnection
Return New SqlConnection(GetConnectionString)
End Function

Private Shared Function GetConnectionString() As String

Dim xmlReader As New XmlTextReader("csSQLBookEvaluation.xml")
Return xmlReader.ReadElementString("Connection")

End Function
End Class

Note that I created my database using sql server 2005 express edition (management studio) and I made some test data and it works fine.
After trying many things, I believe that it is sothing that I'm missing in the database;such as a security setting.

Anyone have any clue.
Any help would be appreciated.

Performing An Insert Using NOT EXIST

Mar 8, 2005

I have two tables that I have to compare:

Table:PR
WBS1 WBS2 WBS3
123-456 1000 01
123-456 1000 02
123-456 2000 02

Table:PR_Template
WBS2 WBS3
1000 00
1000 01
1000 02
2000 00
2000 01
2000 02

After Insert I should have:

wbs1 wbs2 wbs3
123-456 1000 00
123-456 1000 01
123-456 1000 02

567-890 2000 00
567-890 2000 01
567-890 2000 02

Basically, I need to insert the wbs2 and wbs3 where it does not exist in each wbs1.

What I have now will find the values that need to be inserted for a particular project but I don't know how to go through each project and perform the insert:

Select * from PR_template Where Not Exists
(Select Wbs1, Wbs2, Wbs3 from PR where PR.WBS2 = PR_Template.WBS2
And PR.WBS3 = PR_Template.Wbs3 and pr.wbs1 = '123-456')
Order by wbs2, wbs3 asc

Thank You
