I'm getting the following error when launching the database mirroring monitor and attempt to connect to my database.

Good Evening All,
I've serached this forum and Google'd for a resolution to this issue, to no avail. Here's the scenario:
I'm running VS 2005 on Windows Media Center laptop and need to create ASP.net membership for my web application built using VB. I have SQL Server Developer installed with instance name MSSQLSERVER. Previously, I uninstalled SQL Express and installed Developer edition and can now open and utilize Management Studio.
Now, when I try to create a new SQL Server database in my solution's App_Data directory, I receive the above error. I already changed instance name in VS2005 per Tools-Options-Database Tools-Data Connections to MSSQLSERVER.
Could someone provide me with a list of procedures to ensure proper setup of VS2005 with SQL Server Developer Edition?

After adding the Witness Server to the Mirror session, the Witness Connection state between the Mirror and Witness Connection is Disconnected and the state between Principal and Witness Connection is Connected.
The procedures defined in Books Online was used to setup Database Mirroring...when the Witness server was added to the Mirror session, only the alter database T-SQL statement was executed on the Principal server.
ALTER DATABASE <db_name> SET WITNESS = 'TCP://<servername>:<port>'
After executing the above statement, a few seconds later the state between Principal and Witness Connection changed to Connected and the state between Mirror and Witness Connection remains Disconnected.
The Mirror session is not using Certificates, every server is on the same domain, using the same domain login account, and all servers have SP2 installed running Enterprise Edition.
Any idea's why the state between Mirror and Witness Connection remains Disconnected?

In installations for our sales people we installed SQL 2005 Express on their notebooks for demonstrations. In one of these installs we are getting the following error message: "An error occurred - SQL Server requires Encryption On". We do not use encrypted connections and I have verified encryption is turned off in the Options tab in SQL 2005 login screens.
Here is the connection string we use in the app.config file on the Pocket PC's:
<add key="connStr" value="Data Source=192.168.0.19,1433;Initial Catalog=SQL0018;User ID = User01;Password=PW01"/>
Other apps on the notebook are connecting to this same SQL Server without any issues. Thank you in advance for any help here,

Hello,
the Mirror Server is not connected to the Witness Server.
Mirror Server and Wtiness Server are instances on one server.
I get this error:
"
2007-06-28 17:08:12.77 spid23s The server instance Witness rejected configure request; read its error log file for more information. The reason 1451, and state 3, can be of use for diagnostics by Microsoft. This is a transient error hence retrying the request is likely to succeed. Correct the cause if any and retry."
In the SQL Profiler for the Witness Server I get "An error occurred while receiving data" Error 64.
In the witness server logs is nothing depending on this.
The connection between the witness and principal and the mirror and principal are all right. I have created User logins with certificates on the same way on all instances.
What can I do?

I have setup transactional replication everything on one box. later(two or three weeks later), Replication monitor is show red X Under my publishers (publications is disconnected). this is SQL2005.
Everyone known how to fix this problem?

Hi,I need some help. I am getting this error after I complete the asp.net register control and click on the continue button. I have configured a Mirror with Server A as Principal, Server B as Mirror. I can Remote Desktop into both machines and see the Launch Mirror Monitor option in the Tasks list from the Object Explorer. I do not, however, have the option when logged in from my desktop Object Explorer. In each instance, I log into OE using the SA login. Both machines are on sp2. I have seen others post similar problems but have not found anyone with a resolution. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have merge replication configured over VPN and the replication is failing to connect to the subscriber through Named pipes with the error Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server ......
Actually , I am having issues with Named pipes connection from publisher to subcriber. I have enabled the protocols and also enabled the remote connections using both tcp/ip and named pipes. I have created the client network alias using named pipes
Also, due to security reasons only few ports have been released on the subscriber. Please provide me some information on the following.
1) Does any port specifically be released for listening on named pipes? i am able to connect using tcpip with out any issues as 1433 has been released.
2) How to configure the replciation to use tcpip and not named pipes (guess by default it will use named pipes)?

Hi,
Have two servers, one production server and one backup server. Both are Windows 2003 Server having SQL Server 2000 installed.
I have created replication on these servers using a wizard. I then generated SQL scripts to delete and create the replication. These scripts work well, but to test to remove the replication on both servers I used sp_removedbreplication 'DBNAME' on both servers. Not all were removed and on Replication Monitor and sub items plus Log Reader Agent there were added an icon, a red 'X' as in error. The replication seems to work.
Does anyone have any idea on why this happened and what I can do about it. It is not very nice to have errors in replication on a customers servers.

Installed SQL Server 7 on Win 98 machine, keep getting errors:Unable to connect to server servername:

Did the troubleshooter on M$ Knowledgebase, still did not work.
Still get the above and this error:

Went to install SP3, and now It won't let me continue without an sa password.
I never had a password to begin with.

II use the mirroring wizard to config all these three servers(windows authorization is used), the error logs in primary server and mirror server are showed as below
a) On primary server:
Error: 1474, Severity: 16, State: 1
Database mirroring connection error 4 'An error occurred while receiving data: '10054(An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)'.' for 'TCP://mymirror.mydomain:5022'
b) On mirror server:
Database Mirroring login attempt by user 'NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON.' failed with error: 'Connection handshake failed. The login 'NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON' does not have CONNECT permission on the endpoint. State 84.'.
It states I do NOT have permission on this endpoint, but actually, I grant the permission to the endpoint on both primary and mirror server using command
GRANT CONNECT ON ENDPOINT::Mirroring TO [mydomainmyuser];
Also, I followed the article http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms189127.aspx ,no firewall issue, the endpoint is created and started by checking sys.database_mirroring_endpoints

I am accessing SQL2005 with C# code using OleDbConnection.
A try and catch block catches the following error once a while between the Open() and Close() of the connection:
ExecuteNonQuery requires an open and available Connection. The connection's current state is closed.
I do not even have any idea where to start to debug this. The ExecuteNonQuery() runs a delete SQL query. It works 99.9% of the time. I do not see anything wrong when this error happens.
Any hint would be greatly appreciated.

I have recently downloaded SQL Server Express which I have installed using Windows authentication mode. I cannot seem to be able to make a connection to SQL Server from Dreamweaver or Microsoft Visual Web Developer as I am getting an error Server does not exist or access is denied....
I am relatively new to all of this, so would appreciate any advice....
When I installed SQL Server Express I chose Windows Authentication. When I fire up SQL Express and view Security option - the installation program has set up an sa login with a random password. I did not set this password, but think this might be a reason why I can't connect. To rectify the problem I tried creating a new user in SQL Server Express with a password that I specified. On going in to check the settings, I notice SQL Server Express has gone and changed it from the password that I set up.
Now when I try and connect to SQL Server Express I specify the following in the connection paramaters
Server: BGIRLSQLEXPRESS
Database The database name that I've created
User: the new user that I created
Password: the password I created as part of new user setup
Now I get error message Server does not exist or access denied
Is the problem to do with passwords or perhaps one of the many parameters one seems to have to set up? How can I change a password if I didn't create it? Is there anywhere I can reset it?
PLEASE HELP - I have literally spent 3 days attempting to get this working and am about to give up entirely. Due to my lack of experience, I need very specific step by step instructions..

I have enabled the remote access(TCP/IP and named pipes) in sql server 2005, did all the neccessary things, check whether the TCP/IP is enabled, named pipe is enabled... I created another web application using VS 2005. My site works fine in VWD2008 express, but I get this error when I try to use it on my live website.

Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft SQL Server 2005, point to Configuration Tools, and then click SQL Server Surface Area Configuration.
Ok, there is no such program in this folder. The only thing in there is "SQL Server Error and Usage Reporting"...
The other thing I am greatly concerned with is this: All is want is for my webpages to be able to access my database for user authentication. I DO NOT want to grant the internet rights to remote connect to my database.

But i want to replicate data from one online server(A) to my local office(in my country) server(C). means from public ip to private(A->C). then some one told me that you have to put both server on public for replication. after the i put my local server(c) on public ip. but now i am facing the problem that i am able to connect C to A(means my office server to other country server) but not able to connect A to C(means other country server to my office server). when i am connecting from A to C then error shows is "defaut sqlserver server does not allow remote connection". I have change all the sql settings..and also done required changes in firewall but not successed. my operating system 2003 and database sql2005........ please help me................ASAP

I get the following error and have been trying to figure out why I keep getting it. Initially, I had placed my project under wwwroot folder and ran it under IIS and it gave this error. Then I moved it to my local C drive and same thing. I am sharing this project with two other co-workers and all our config files and code files are same...they don't get this error but I do. I checked that SQL Server Client Network Utility has TCP/IP and the 'Named Pipes' enabled. I thought maybe I have setting in the Visual Studio 2005 that I'm not aware of that's causing this problem...it can't be the server since my co-workers aren't having this error and can't be anything in the code since all of us are sharing this project through vss. I dont' think using different version of .net framework can create this error. I changed the version from 2.0 to use 1.1x and it gave same error... Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a situation that I was wondering if anyone has ever ran into before. It has to do with one of my MS SQL servers. The hardware is a ALR/Gateway 9000R with 4 PP200's, 1 Gb RAM, and a RAID 5 with 72 Gb storage. The NIC card is an ATM 155 Mbit card connected directly to our fiber backbone.
I have WinNT 4.0 Server Enterprise Edition loaded with SP4 and MS SQL Server 6.5 Enterprise Edition with SP5 installed.
I have 7 seperate active databases on the server supporting 7 different applications. The server has been on-line for approximately 4 weeks and just recently (last Thursday) it has started to "lock up" every couple of days. By lockup I mean that it starts to reject all requests by all users. No one can connect to the server including myself. The MS SQL error log grows and grows until we reboot the server. The error logs are 100 Mb or larger in size due to rejection errors being repeated over and over again.
There has been no change made to the server since initial installation.
The error in the MS SQL error log that keeps on being repeated is...
"Message 17308: Kernelerror - Lazywriter. Process (process ID number) generated access violation; SQL Server is terminating this process."
We have an incident in with Microsoft but they are not responding fast enough.
I was hoping that someone out there may have had this type of occurrance happen before.
Any suggestions?

I have a problem when trying to setup replication between two SQL servers on different networks.
My publication server is SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition. My subscription server is SQL server 2005 Express Edition
I have setup the publication no problem but am now trying to create my subscriber. However, when trying to connect to the server, I receive the following error:
SQL Server replication requires the actual server name to make a connection to the server. Connections through a server alias, IP address, or any other alternate name are not supported. Specify the actual server name, 'W2M-RDC-01'. (Microsoft.SqlServer.
However, because the servers are not on the same network, I cannot use the server name.
Why does it not allow you to connect to an IP?
Is there a way to create an alias? I have read that you can but am unsure how to do this. Do I need to change the hosts file? If so, where can I find this and what exactly do I need to change?
