New Installation - Can Not Connet To Server On My PC

Mar 21, 2007

I have just installed SQL Express and Server Management Studio on my PC. I also have IIS 5.0 on WinXP. When I open Management Studio and try to connect the sI get the following error message:- Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider) .

This happens if I change the server, change the authentication method or try my user name or the 'sa ' user. To make things even more frustrating I did the same installation on my laptop earlier this year with no problems.

Has anyone any answers to my problem?

Thanks

Connet To SQL Using VB6 Forms Via Internet

Oct 1, 2006

We have one system that is developed using Visual Basic 6. The system connects to MS SQL database using ODBC configuration. We have another branch that has to access the same database. We've got an Internet connection with a speed of 2MB, as we tried to connect using Virtual Private Network (VPN), but the problem we faced that the system became very slow over the Internet, its taking half an hour to open one form. Is there any way to connect to the database and via the Internet using VB6 Forms? Or its not useful as its not a web based tool.

Not Able To Connet To SQLServer- Memory Related Messages In SQL Errorlog

Dec 1, 2004

Hi
I was not able to connect to SQL Server machine. On examining the Error log (which was huge 53MB), I found the following messages that filled 95% of the logfile. Is this something to do with memory allocation.

Someone, please let me know what is going on. After the server reboot everything works fine.
I am worrired that this message may occur again.

Thanks

Express Installation Fails With Invalid Installation Package

May 3, 2006

I get an error when trying to install the SQL Native Client. It
says it cannot find the installation package and to use a valid copy of
'sqlncli.msi'. I've downloaded the Express setup twice and get
the same error from both of them.

I'm attempting this in a VMWare session setup for Windows 2K, Advanced

procedures. This is not a production setup, just install testing
and documentation. I have allocated only 272MB to the VMWare
session, which is why the system doesn't meet the recommended settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SQL Server 2005 Installation Problems With SQL Server Express && SQL Server 2000

May 31, 2006

Hi Guys,
I have had SQL Server Express and Sql Server Management Studio Express installed on my machine for some time and recently tried to install a trial of SQL Server 2005 as well.  (Yes, I'm migrating from Visual Studio Express to Visual Studio Professional, just as in tended!)
Everything went fine except that nothing seemed to be installed.  I searched in all the obvious places - both on the Start/Programs menu and on the hard-drive: nothing.
A check under Add/Remove Programs showed that Sql Server 2005 Express was installed, but called SQL Server 2005.
So after a number of retries in which the install program kept saying that there was nothing to install, I selected every option under Advanced in the intall process.  This resulted in stuff being installed and I now have SQL Server 2005 running on my machine, but no SQL Server Manager icon.
My questions are:

Where can I find the SQL Server Manager executeable?
Has anyone installed SQL Server Express, SQL Server Mangement Studio Express, SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server Management Studio on a single machine successfully?  If so, what order did you install them in?  (I'm planning on uninstalling everything SXQL Server related and starting again.)
Thanks very much for your help.
Regards
Gary

As sql server 2005 is know to exist side by side with earlier sql server versions .

And coming to the problem which i m facing is , I have installed sql server 2005 ent in windows 2000 server in which sql server 2000 is residing.Later when i observerd i realised that actually i have upgraded 2000 to sql 2005 server (which i hav done after consulting many people). As a result few of the client systems which were running sql server personal edition were unable to access their data from the database. For temporary relief i have installed sql server 2005 express edition plus management studio in the client systems . I do not know what user name to type. I tried every possible combination but the outcome is always the same - after typing usernames and passwords, installation suddenly fails without casting any exception. I'm not sure if I do something wrong (wrong User Name or Password) or is it a problem with installation application or with OS. Please, help.

SQL Server Installation?

Mar 30, 2005

I am quite new to asp.net and is still int he learning phase, working
my way through a text book. At the moment I'm having trouble installing
SQL server 2000. When I try to run the installation file I get the
follwing error message :

A strong SA password is needed for security reasons.
Please use SAPWD switch to supply the same.
Refer to readme for details. Setup will now exit.

It might have something to do with the fact that I don't have an administrator's
password on XP at the moment.

Could someone please tell me what's wrong or what to do to get SQL Server to install.
P.S I don't check the forum that often so if someone replies to this
could they please send me an email to gfcarstens@mweb.co.za to notify

SQL Server 6.5 Installation

I've just installed SQL Server 6.5 on NT Server 4.0 and then installed utilities on my client Win 95 machine. I've registered the server on the NT and on the client machine as well.

However, on the client machine I can't get the 'green light' on the server icon, and 'Start', 'Stop' options aren't available either. (Everything looks OK on the server itself (NT machine).)

I've registered server useing 'sa' account and changed sa's password (from the initial "").
Is it because I need to take additional steps to take a complete control over the server? Or it just a client utilities settings? Or both?
