I have a report that gets two parameters of type date.
These parameters have default values.
When I press preview the report runs automatically.
I want to prevent the report from running automatically, and let it run only when I press the button "view report".
I need to be able to click a hyperlink in one report to open a linked report, but without automatically running the linked report.
Scenario.
I have a report showing customer details and on this page there is a link to a price enquiry report. This price enquiry report has two parameters: customer code and product code.
When I click the price enquiry hyperlink in the customer details report I can only attach a value to the customer code parameter. The product code parameter is not known at this stage and would have to be provided by the user after the price enquiry report is opened (but not run). The customer code parameter should already be filled (carried in the link).
When I click the link at the moment I get the error "The 'product' parameter is missing a value".
I have a problem setting the default value of a column. I am trying to set it to
(CONVERT([float],getdate()+(2),0))
However, SQL Server automatically sets it to
(CONVERT([float],getdate()+(2),(0)))
While it functionally does not change anything, we have a tool which compares the database schema against a pre-existing schema and shows this as an error.I have tried setting the value directly and through scripts but it does not work either way.
I'm just getting started with ASP.NET and I've created a query page that displays the user’s results in a gridview. The user can then edit, delete or sort the results. I use two text boxes for the user to supply the query criteria (Lname and Year). The user can provide one, both, or neither items. When no criteria are supplied the SQL query returns all records (this is the desired result). Here's the problem. On the initial load the page returns all records because it is submitting the Selectcommand with the query fields blank. Can I prevent this from happening on the initial page load but permit it on all other reloads. I initially removed the Selectcommand from the Gridview and created a codebehind for the query button that submits the query. The problem with this was that the selectcommand is required for all other gridview operations (i.e. if the user sorts the results or edit a record, when the page reloads no records are displayed in the gridview). I then started to use codebehind for all possible Gridview events but this got very unwieldy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks FZev
I have a simple query (a select statement which retrieves results from 2 tables via join). I run this query every week and just copy the results from Management Studio (Ctrl-A) and then open Microsoft Excel and just paste it there. Is there a way I can automatically run this every week and generate the Excel from the results? If so what steps I have to do? I use SQL Server 2005 Express Edition.
I have an SSIS which goes to a web hosting site and gets the store xml file, saves the file on my computer. Then I want to run a T-SQL script but if fails because the files contains DOCTYPE StoreExport SYSTEM http://store.yahoo.com/doc/dtd/StoreExport.dtd>
I want to manully remove then line before running the T-SQL script. Here is the beginning of the script:
DECLARE @x XML
SELECT @x =cast(bulkcolumn as XML)
FROM OPENROWSET(BULK 'C:databasexmldtdyahoostore.xml', SINGLE_BLOB) AS x
I thought the cast statement would get rid of the line, but it does not.
I'm hoping someone here will be able to guide me in the right direction. I am trying to figure out a way of looping through table columns or a flat file in which there will be three parameters every time. With these parameters I am then wanting to run a report using two of these parameters to feed into the report and then email this out to an email address which would be my third parameter. Does anyone here have any idea how I would go about doing this?
I am trying to find a way of creating my Repoting Services reports of automatically refreshing once our ETL load has completd. I have created a process that creates a file is a particular directory once the data has completed loading however I am unsure how to make the report look for this file and then refresh the report.
I have a ssis package that has multiple large lookups without memory restriction. When running the package manually from SSMS on the same server it runs on when running automatically under the job agent, the package errors out when the server memory gets depleted by the loading of the large lookup reference data. One of the messages I get is "An out-of-memory condition prevented the creation of the buffer object. "
Anyway, the package runs successfully when it runs automatically under the job agent.
I was curious as to why the above happens. Is that a bug or is the run time behavior different under these 2 environments by design.
In Report Builder(SSRS 2005 sp2), is there a way to automatically save a report the user is working on? The problem is that somtimes a user would be spending a long time working on a new report and the connection would timeout and the user has to start all over again.
We are having a table report which has set of columns where the visibility is made false based on report parameters. It works fine and the table automatically shrinks. But, the page width remains as early and has lot of blank space in it. It also causes printer to print many blank pages.
Is there a way to control pagewidth dynamically? Thought of adding a custom assembly to control page width - but how to access the page that is getting displayed. "this" will refer to the the assembly class instead of report as such.
I have a project where I need to automatically pass 2 sets of parameters to a SSRS report and generate PDF files. I have set the defaults for the parameters based on one set of parameters and created a subscription to automatically generate PDF copy. However, I am not sure how to generate the report automatically using the other set of parameters. Also, I don't want to create two report files to accomplish this.
It seems that my report runs immediately now that I've set defaults on all parameters. Is there a way to allow defaults on all params but still require that the user click "view report" before it runs?
Hi, we are deploying in an external server a report model and some reports developed with it.
We already have a procedure to deploy the model and reports one by one using upload files feature, we are worried about not to deployed all reports we have to (mistake in manual process). Is there a way to automatize this process?, a command, a program o somethink like this?.
I have created a report, and am setting default values for the parameters. Once the default parameters is set, the report automatically generates. Is there a way to make it not automatically generate the report? We are setting the parameters with values that will get the end user the most recent data, but alot of times, they will want to pull older data as well. We don't want them to have to wait for the report to automatically generate before they can change the parameter values
I am using SQL Server 2005 with Reporting Services (Using the Visual side - not direct code)
I am having problems understanding the dates. eg where to put them,
I want a report that runs on the 1st day of the month for the previous month. I know you can set up something in subscriptions but then how do I get my report header to say from .......to...............
I have been through the AW reports but can't see what I need.
Happy if someone wants to direct me to somewhere that has date examples.

If you guys any solution for this please let me know. I was wondering could this be a scale-out deployment issue ?
I also get the error when setting up the DataBase Setup : Although saving the database connection info succeeded the The report server cannot access internal info about this deployment to determine whetherthe current con fig is valid for this editionThis could be a scale-out deployment and that the feature is not supported by this editionTo continue use a diff report server database or remove the encription keys

Do I need the report server running in order view a SSRS report in a report viewer control? I've created my report in .net and it works great when I'm viewing it in visual studio, but can I run it my web app without the report server.
I have a report that is scheduled to run a once a week. This works fine. But now I would like this report to be saved as an Excel file automatically when it runs. how / where do I do this?
I am new to reporting services and I'm really stuck on a design problem. Can someone please help me?
I would like to design my own print function. When a user clicks on the print icon (preferably the one that came with reporting services), the report is automatically printed twice, once with "For Person A" and the second time with "For Person B" on it. It doesn't matter where these two labels are placed on the page. These two reports need to be printed on letter-size paper regardless of user's selection. How do I do this with minimum amount of code?
I've come across an unusual error on some of our machines. I'm trying to track down why only certain ones will give an error. I thought it might have something to do with .NET 2.0 not being installed, but I assume that they wouldn't even be able to launch Report Builder if this is the case. I'm at the point now where I've been told these machines have .NET 2.0. I plan on trying to verify soon, but I thought I'd get everyone's opinion on what it could be.
With even the simplist report (just 1 field dragged onto the report) the following error appears: "Report execution error The report might not be valid or the server could not process the data." When I clicked on the details, the following appears: "The numeric portion of 0pt cannot be parsed as a unit of type Point. ----- The type initializer for 'Microsoft.ReportingServices.Design.Constants' threw an exception."
This model was created with Business Intelligence Development Studio and we're using SQL 2005 Enterprise.
Anyone have any thoughts on what this could be or how I can better troubleshoot it?
When I trying to configure Reposrting services in IIS & XP. It hsows me error "The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer."
I also configure with reposrting configuration tools which show all confuguration is perfect.
but when I try to open through IE http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx
or http://localhost/Reportserver
It shows error. I try all ways still not works ..Help me out
I need to run a report where if it's Thursday then it will look for appointment dates for the following Monday, Friday will look for Tuesday, and then Monday will look for Wednesday. I found the Datepart syntax, however, I'm not sure if it should go in the Select statement area or where. The below query works but it literally looks for appointments 2 days out whether it be a weekday or weekend.

Hi. I'm fairly new to SSRS, and very new to this forum. I have a report based on a stored procedure. I've optimized the procedure so that it runs from 2-4 minutes (previously over half an hour). However, when I run the report that calls the sp, it runs forever (well over 45 minutes in some cases), and the users basically give up on it. Any ideas of why this happens and what steps I can take to improve performance?
I have created a subscription for a report and this subscription is scheduled to run at specific time everyday. My subscription failed because of some stored proc issue. Is there a way to re-run the subscription. I did not know how to do this so I created a temporary subscription just to run it again. Please help!
How do I find out the report that is currently being run? I have a scenario where some users run a report without knowing the amount of data that will be pulled by it... In such a case, it bogs down the server and doesn't let me access the Report Manager application.
How can I find out what is the report that is currently being run? I know I can get that information from the Show Jobs link fromm Site Settings in Report Manager. But in this case, I am not even able to login to the Report Manager. The memory (8 gigs) in the app server is fully maxed out and it doesn't log me in to the Report Manger.
I ran a query against the ExecutionLog table in the ReportServer database that logs all the executions. But it looks like the data to this table gets logged only after the report execution is completed. There is no way to tell what is being executed right now. I also checked the table RunningJobs in the ReportServer database, but there are no records in that table.
Hi, I have a report with 18 cascading report parameters. Each report parameter has a unique dataset which passes the value of the previous parameter into the sql string. As I am selecting the report parameters it is taking longer to query the further down I go. I think this is because of the number of where conditions that are being passed through the sql query. The last report parameter is passing 17 where conditions.
In access when I have done this the parameters near the bottom were being refreshed quicker than the top ones - why is it the opposite way round in reporting services??? Any ideas of how to speed this process up?
