Problem Showing Data From Select Line With Another Select Line In It

If i use this code i cant get the data showed, it show nothing.
"SELECT COUNT(DogImageDate) AS Amount, DogImageDate, DogImageID FROM EnggaardImages WHERE DogImageDate NOT LIKE (SELECT TOP 1 DogImageDate FROM EnggaardImages ORDER BY DogImageDate DESC;) GROUP BY DogImageDate ORDER BY DogImageDate DESC;"
But if i use this code i get data showed

But i dont want the first to be showed, therefor i use the Select TOP 1, so i get a look like this

Basically I'm running a number of selects, using unions to write out each select query as a distinct line in the output. Each line needs to be multiplied by -1 in order to create an offset balance (yes this is balance sheet related stuff) for each line. Each select will have a different piece of criteria.
Although I have it working, I'm thinking there's a much better or cleaner way to do it (I use the word better loosely)
Example: SELECT 'Asset', 'House', TotalPrice * -1 FROM Accounts WHERE AvgAmount > 0 UNION SELECT 'Balance', 'Cover', TotalPrice FROM Accounts WHERE AvgAmount > 0
What gets messy here is having to write a similar set of queries where the amount is < 0 or = 0
I'm thinking something along the lines of building a table function contains all the descriptive text returning the relative values based on the AvgAmount I pass to it.
I want to create a line chart showing the bases, split by 6 month periods, on the X axis and a count on the Y. I have tried but am well and trult stuck!
Hi, for some AP issue, the file I upload must be without the line feed/carriage return in the last line. for example:
original fixed-length file (exported from SSIS) line NO DATA 1 AA123456 50 60 2 BB123456 30 40 3 CC123456 80 90 4 <-- with line feed/carriage return in the last line
The file format that AP request. The file only has 3 records, so it should end in the third line. line NO DATA 1 AA123456 50 60 2 BB123456 30 40 3 CC123456 80 90
Should I use script component to do it ? I am new for VB . Anyone would help me ?

I hope I'm posting this in the correct forum (forgive me if I'm not) since I'm not sure if this is an issue with inserting an item into a db or the processing of what I get out of it. I wrote a basic commenting system in which someone my post a comment about something written on the site. I wanted to keep it very simple, but I at least want the ability for a user to have newlines in their comment without having to hardcode a <br /> or something like that. Is there a way for me to detect a newline if someone, for example, is going to their next paragraph? Let me know if you need a better explanation. Thanks in advance!

We have a line graph which plots the actual data points (x,y), everything is working fine with this graph. Now we need to add a trend line to this existing graph after going thro. the articles we came to know that there is no direct option in SSRS to draw a trend line. So we need to calculate the trend values ourselves which we need to plot as atrend line. This trend line is similar to the trend line which comes in Excel chart, do anyone know how to calculate the trend values from the actual data points. We got through several formulas, but were not clear, have anyone tried out exactly the same, if so please help us out by providing an example to calculate the trend values.
I have a line graph which shows positive and negative values. Is it possible to have the line one color when its negative and another when its positive?
I have a need to have new line character in some data. I am trying to insert and retrieve the data with the new lines char in it, but it does work. I need the new line char in the data as I need to do some further processing whenever the new line starts. Any ideas on how I can achieve this? Thanks for the help.

eventually I started using DERIVED Tables and Sub queries within them if needed. I like choking down all the queries in the selects joining them and having your result set select there to choose from all the aliases, it also resolves while doing this. So much easier IMO than using CTE's or TEMP Tables. I was big on temp tables for a while...
I'm curious though if you want to count a type of criteria in a column do you use a standard case in your inner query choking it down just for those particular counts? Then do another case on the other criteria and END AS with the alias name?
E.G.
CASE WHEN COLUMN1 = PIZZA THEN COUNT(COLUMN1) END AS PIZZACOUNT CASE WHEN COLUMN1 = ROOTBEER THEN COUNT(COLUMN!) END AS ROOTBEERCOUNT ETC...........
I need to have an automated process to generate and send out csv data on a set schedule. Using the sp_send_dbmail routine is working great except for one small problem I am having trouble getting around.
I am specifying a query to be run and including the results as a file attachment. The customer wants a csv file with column names.
The attachment always includes a 'separator line' of dashes between the column header and the actual data. Is there any way to eliminate this line of dashes? When I use @query_result_header = 0 flag, it removes the line of dashes, but the column names are also removed as well.
I want to keep the column names, but just remove the line of dashes.
I can skip the first line with Transform Data Task, it look like can not skip the first line in BulkInsert. But bulkinsert is faster, anybody can help?
Using ADO to conect to a text format data file to gather data. File is a .dat file, tab delimited, no header row.
Got all my ducks in a row: 1) Write a schema.ini 2) Make sure the extension is not excluded in the Jet Text registry key 3) Setup the connection properly (per MSDN Scripting help)
Works nicely, except the fist line of data is missing. File contains 78 rows of data, Jet is skipping the first line every time and reporting 77 rows.
Notes: 1) Adding a blank row, as suggested in this forum, is not an option - the data files are machine generated are not to be altered by other processes. 2) I could do it the old fashion way of importing and splitting into arrays, but this is a database function and ADO should be able to handle it.

The program is going to allow users to schedule an SMS message to be sent at a certain date and time. I'm using a database to keep track of the scheduled SMS messages. The database has 3 rows: phone number, message, and the date/time to be sent.
I'm guessing it doesn't like how I am trying to get the data from the different text boxes and the DateTimePicker to go inside the SQL command. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix my SQL command or how to get data from a textbox and DateTimePicker to be inserted into a database a different way?
I have mult-value parameter set up for a report and when i preview the report in visual studio 2005, the "select all" option is displayed in the drop down list and works beautifully for selecting all.
When i deploy the report to the intranet website and click on the report, reporting services doesn't show that option to select all. It will however let me click amongst the generated list, but not an option to just click a "select all"?
Is this normal? I suppose i could always just code a value that generates all and add it as one of the selection, but this is more of a functionality question than a coding.

The table also holds images in a varbinary field. How do I insert an image held on the file system (e.g. "C:ImagesMyImage.gif") into a varbinary field using a script that is run using sqlcmd on the command line?

The content of format file is as follows. This is to skip first column of the all the rows and get only Subs (i.e s1 and s2 )

But this query retuns only s2 where i was expeting s1 and s2. The reason being is that the firts row i.e header doesn't follow the format Can any one please let me know how to skip the first line in the data file and get the result as required

Hi, i've got a table which holds a field called order. Let's say it looks like this
ItemId Name Order 223 test 1 1 542 test 5 34 23 test 2 4 676 test 123 2
I'm building a website, which gets the records by the right order. So it displays this on the website:
test 1 test 123 test 2 test 5
Now, I'm building a up/down function. So when I click down on 'test 123' it should swap the order with 'test 2'
So the database will look like this: ItemId Name Order 223 test 1 1 542 test 5 34 23 test 2 2 676 test 123 4
And the website will look like this:
test 1 test 2 test 123 test 5
And it should also work the other way around with the up button.
So my guess is, I have the order of the item I clicked on (2) and I should get the order of the previous or next record (depending on which button I clicked). So how would I do that?
