May 7, 2008

Hi, I have some SSIS Deployment Manifest Files that needs to be copied over into another server. I am just using the Package installation wizard to do this. But it is taking to long to run.( I have 19 simple packages and it is taking 15 minutes).

Is there any way that I can use to achieve better performance in this?

Installing And Configuring Reporting Services Using The Command Prompt

Jul 31, 2007

Hello, I have a question regarding installing SQL Express with Advanced Services from the command prompt. I am executing a .cmd file which has the following syntax:

start /wait setup.exe /qb INSTANCENAME=Tim ADDLOCAL=SQL_Engine,Connectivity,RS_Server,RS_Web_Interface SAPWD=1StrongPassword_2 SECURITYMODE=SQL DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=0

Yet, after the installation when I run the Reporting Services configuration tool, none of the settings for Reporting Services are set. I would like to be able to install Reporting Services from the command prompt and have it use the default settings for creating a default website just like you can through the User Interface using the Setup.exe but cannot seem to figure out what I am missing in my .cmd file?

I would appreciate any help anyone can provide.

SSIS Deployment Utility - Manifest Doesnt Show Up

Nov 19, 2007

When I create a deployment utility I...
- set AllowConfigurationChanges to True.
- set CreateDeploymentUtility to True
- DeploymentOutputPath is set to binDeployment
- I click 'Build' and it creates the binDeployment directory and writes all my DTSX files and my dtsConfig file
But it doesn't create a manifest file. Why not?
Thanks

Intergration Services Comportant

Sep 19, 2007

Can you creat a SSIS package and run the package without installing the SQL server intergration services?
During the SQL server installation, you can choose which component you want to install ( SQL server services, intergration services, and analysis services, etc..)..
I didn't check to install the intergration services comportant..but I can still be able to create a intergration services project thru the business intelligent studio... ( but i don;t see it under SQL server configuration maanger)

what the intergration services if for? is it seperated from SQL server services.. why i can still create a SSIS package even though i didn;t install the intergration services?

MS Management Studio And Intergration Services

Aug 8, 2007

Windows Server 2003 x64 SQL 2005...when I open managment studio and try to open intergration services I can see the local machine that I want to connect to however, I get an error when trying to connect...it says that I need to register a library but doesn't list anything about which library...I have logged into the server as the local admin and am part of a domain w/ my ID added to the admin group and cannot connect w/ either...I can connect to the DB and edit etc under sa...have given the proper accesses to the DB but still cannot connect to the intergration services...Any clues? I am trying to schedule jobs to run against the database...or if there is another way to schedule these w/o going through this that would be great as well.

Thanks in advance,

Sql 2005 Intergration Services Installed But Service Isn't There

May 8, 2007

I am a bit out of my league here so any help would be greatly appreciated.

On a Windows SBS 2003 R2 server. I am trying to add Integration Services at the request or an external Consultant group. I ran the install & followed the bouncing ball from this article

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb326043.aspx

The only odd thing is that it didn't give the option to pick an instance (only Microsoft SQL Server 2005).

It seems to install fine, no pop up error or anything but the SSIS service isn't installed. If I try & connect to it via the SQL Server Management studio - Selecting Integration Service in Server Type I can browse for the server name but on connecting it says " Connect to SSIS service on machine "Riley" failed

The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

& looking through the list of Services I can't find it.

I have uninstalled Integration services & reinstalled twice now but the same result (no service) ... what am I doing wrong, it seemed so simple from the instructions.

What Other Associated Tools SQL Server 2005 Intergration Services Can Work With?

Sep 8, 2006

Hi, all,

Thank you very much for your kind attention.

I am having a question which is: What other associated tools/environment SQL Server 2005 Integration Services (SSIS) can work with? (like we know SSIS can work with other components of SQL Server 2005, Excel,XML files etc.), so what other tools it can work with?

Thanks a lot in advance for any guidance and advices for that.

With best regards,

Yours sincerely,

Start Job From The Command Prompt?

Feb 23, 2006

I have a Microsoft SQL server that is setup, and inside it is a job. Inside the job is a bunch of lines of transact sql statements.

I would like to be able to start the job from the command prompt. Moreover, I do not want to have to create new files or modify anything that is existing. I just want to be able to have it set up so that a new user who installs the server and all of the job on their machine fresh, can just punch in the command to run the job.

I know I can copy the transact sql statements from the job, and run them through the command prompt, but that would be a poor way to do it, because if the statements in the job were ever modified, with this task being automated, the command prompt statements would be out of date.

So I just need a way to start the existing job from the command prompt. Is this possible? Maybe with OSQL?

Using The Command Prompt Via SQL Server Agent

Jun 4, 2007

I need to verify a csv file exists before I call a stored procedure to complete a bulk insert. The first step in the SP will be to verify the file exists (that particular "Job" step did not fail). I have only one step in the job that I have set the type as "Operating System (CmdExec)" and the Command is "Dir C:NAFCDMDataShipmentsCooperShipments.csv". When I execute the job manually to verify the proper operation I receive the error listed below. I know the path and file name are correct as I originally typed in the UNC, when it failed I copied it from the Address bar. I attempted to move the file to the root location without success. I attempted to use another file. I have attempted to rename the file. The DBAs will not allow me to use the SP_cmdshell stored procedure (that was my first thought).

I added 'Everyone' with Full Access to the root folder and propagated these permissions to all containing folders. This again did not allow the job to run. I changed the statment to "REN C:NAFCDMShipmentsShipment.csv Shipment1.csv". I continue to get the same error. Can someone Please point me in a direction to fix this problem?

"The process could not be created for step 1 of job 0x71D51027F920A140A2913234DB7FF509

(reason: The system cannot find the file specified). The step failed.

The job failed. The Job was invoked by User sa. The last step to run was step 1 (Verify the File's Existance)."
