Recovery :: Error Adding Replica To AlwaysOn Failover Cluster?
May 22, 2015I'm getting an error adding Replica to SQL AlwaysOn failover cluster in the new availability group wizard. When I enter the name of the target node (secondary replica) server and press connect, I get the following:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server.
The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 2) The system cannot fine the file specified
The SQL Browser service is up and running on the target. I am using an Azure VM for my SQL instance. This cluster spans geographies from our on-premise site to Azure via a VPN. This is a multi-subnet cluster. I'm attempting to create a new AG from the primary replica node and the target is a node on Azure called SSASNodeAz03.

SQL 2012 :: Backup On Primary Replica In Case Of Secondary Replica Is Down
Jun 9, 2014I have 2 SQL Server replicas configured on SQL Server 2012 AlwaysOn. e.g. SQL1 & SQL2.
I have configured backup job on both SQL Server with the following statement. and the job occurs every 10 minutes.

I turned off SQL2 for Windows maintenance. So there is only SQL1 is online. Afterwards. I checked the backup folder and didn't see any new backup files was created after SQL2 was offline. I rerun the job. It still doesn't backup database on the Primary Replica. Then I searched on SQL Server Book online. It says
Prefer Secondary
Specifies that backups should occur on a secondary replica except when the primary replica is the only replica online. In that case, the backup should occur on the primary replica. This is the default option.
According to what it says, it should backup on the Primary Replica.
SQL && C# Help On A Button Click!!!

I'm not sure if anyone can help me with this but I am trying to achieve the following:
I have a row (In this case it is information on a fix) and on a button click I am trying to get it to "archive" it. At the moment I have it so that it it takes the current information and adds it to the archive table adding an archive date. The thing that I am struggling with is incrementing the version number. So, I need it to (in these steps I think) - Look for existance of the other entires of that ID, look for the version number that is related to the newest date of those knowledgeIDs and then add 1 to it. If that knowledgeID doesnt exist then add it as one.

Executing SQL With A Button Click.
Dec 25, 2007I feel like it must be easy and I'm missing something. Maybe I'm going the wrong way about it too. Basically I've written an append query that needs parameters, but I have no idea how to actually execute it. I'm coming from building apps in MS Access where all of this is really easy. I'm really enjoying learning some things, and did my first MS SQL trigger event tonight, which worked great. I though using a trigger may be an option here, but I need to control the "when" of this append a little more carefully and can't rely on an automated event. I can manually execute the query and it works, but have a button I could press on a form, with the queries on that form would be ideal. I'm basically moving partial data from one table to another. Any help? Again, this seems like it "should" be easy, but I'm not finding info on it. Please talk slowly, as again, I'm coming from Access.

Can anyone tell me the means by which I can populate a label or a datagrid by executing a selectcommand statement on the form of my webpage. And what is the best way to retrieve data from a SQL datasource, is it by using separate sqldatasources for each different parts of a page that requires different data from different tables in the same database or by using a tableadapter to retrieve the data for the best performance?

2nd INSERT INTO Statement In A Button Click Event
Mar 6, 2006Hi everyone.I am trying to write 2 INSERT INTO statements into a Button click event. Both statements go to the same database but differnet tables. The first statement works fine but the 2nd causes an error with the Try, Catch, Finally statement. When I remove the ExecuteNonQuery from the 2nd statement, the 2nd INSERT INTO statement fails to work. Any help would be brilliant. Thanks!

i made one rdl report and called it from server (win2003). it worked successfully . but when i give print for the same report(through reportviewer control print option). Client machine restart. Same thing happened on four machine that were in win2000.

I'm a newbie when it comes to SSIS and web development (I'm currently in school for Mechanical Engineering). I'm trying to develop a website in which I can upload an excel file and have the contents written to a SQL database. I have been successful in creating a package in which I point to an excel file and it writes the contents to the desired database. With this, I was hoping that I can modify my website to take the file which is being uploaded, change the name, and then have the SSIS package run, in which it will look for the named file in a certain directory and upload the contents to the SQL server.
Ideally this would be the order of events:
User selects and uploads a file to the server (button click)
Server renames it and places it in a certain directory
SSIS package runs and extracts the data to SQL database

Button Click Event Fires While Refresing The Page

I have written some code to insert a record into the table in BtnAdd click event and I also have a Grid view control to show the table records.
If I click the Add button ,the record gets inserted into the table and shown in the grid correspondingly.But if I refresh teh page,the same data gets inserted again since it fires the Btnclick Event.
Please help me out in this issue.

System Restarts On Click Of The Print Button While Viewing Reports In The Browser
Apr 17, 2007We are using Reporting Services 2000.
The print button that is present in the browser is working just fine for some users.
But some users are complaining that on clicking the print button their system restarts.
Some other users are also getting the error "An error occurred during printing. (0x80004005)"
However on closing the browser and opening the report in it again this issue is resolved.
So, the main concern is "Restart of the machine on click of the PRINT icon in reports viewed in some application browser."
Please help!!
SQL 2012 :: Existing Replica MDF File Size Increased In Size Than New Replica Install

We have an application with replicated environment setup on sql server 2012 . Users will have a replica on their machines and they will replicate to the master database. It has 3 subscriptions subscribed to the publications on the master db.
1) We set up a replica(which uses sql server 2012) on a machine with no sql server on it. After the initial synchronization(used replmerge tool) the mdf file has grown to 33gigs and ldf has grown to 41 gigs. I went to sql server management studion . Right click and checked the properties of the local database. over all size is around 84 gb with little empty free space available.
2) We set up a replica(which uses sql server 2012) on a machine with sql server 2008 on it. After the initial synchronization(used replmerge tool) the mdf file has grown to 49 gigs and ldf has grown to 41 gigs. I went to sql server management studio , Right click and checked the properties of the local database. over all size is around 90 gb with 16 gb free space available.
3) We set up a replica(which uses sql server 2012) on a machine with sql server 2012 on it. We have dropped the local database and recreated the local db and did the initial synchronization using replmerge tool. The mdf file has grown to 49 gigs and ldf has grown to 41 gigs. I went to sql server management studio , Right click and checked the properties of the local database. over all size is around 90 gb with 16 gb free space available.
Why it is allocating the space differently? This is effecting our initial replica set up times.

According to this site, till "Always-On Availability Group Configuration" everything was successful.

Jul 16, 2015I have 3 synchronous AlwaysON replicas: A, B and C. A is primary, B and C are secondary and both are set to Automatic recovery. How can I understand, which of them (B or C) will become primary when A goes offline? Well, Actually my final DB system should support following configuration:
1) Normally - A is primary B and C are sync secondary.
2) if A fails, B automatically becomes primary, C remains Sync secondary.
3) if A goes online, it becomes primary again
4) C becomes primary only after A and B fail (and there still should be cluster quorum!)
As I understood, first of all i should configure quorum the following way: A-0, B-1, C-1, folder-witness-1.
The problem, again, is: I cannot understand how to configure which replica becomes primary when AG fails over.

Feb 27, 2015I am configuring log shipping. On the secondary server, I already restored the DB.From the primary server, I was following all the instructions on how to. Now this is the problem. I click on ADD button to connect to the secondary server. I put in the IPInstanceName and the DB. I also chose option 3 (No, the secondary database is initialized), clicked OK after all the option, now getting this error.

Jul 26, 2007I've got a SQL Reporting Server 2000 SP2 report that takes 3 parameters. FromDT, ToDT, and LocationCD. The first two parameters are free form text fields that expect a date. The last one is a drop down box. For some reason, when I'm viewing the report through the standard reports folder on the report server I have to click the "View Report" button two times to get the report to render. Clicking it just once, doesn't seem to do anything. The report is a line graph.
There are default values in the FromDT and ToDT parameter fields.
Anyone have any ideas what would be causing the need for the second click?

How can i exit from this situation ?
Adding Button In Report
Apr 27, 2007I would like to know whether there is any way to add a button in report. I have 3 report parameters. On clicking the button, the current values of the reports are to be obtained and saved in database i.e saving the report configuration. I will use this saved configuration to form the url and view report directly.
