Reporting Services :: Multiple Values In Parameters - Error

Aug 24, 2015

I have done this several times before but somehow unable to make it work this time around.

select ast.AssetId, fu.ParentDescription from
dbo.asset ast
inner join tblPatchViaFU FU ON ast.AssetId = fu.Assetid
where fu.ParentFUId IN (@IMO)

In tblPatchViaFU table column [ParentFUid] is int datatype

***** Dataset for Parameter "IMO" ******

SELECT DISTINCT
ParentFUId ParentFUId
, ParentDescription IMOfficer
FROM
[dbo].[tblPatchViaFU]
WHERE
ParentName = 'Income Patch'

***** @IMO Parameter ******

Datatype : Integer
Allow multiple values

Available Values
Dataset : IMO
Value Field : ParentFUId
Label Field : IMOfficer

The report runs perfectly fine for 1 parameter value but the moment I select more than one it fails with the error message  "Error converting data type nvarchar to int."

SQL Reporting Services Issue Using Multiple Parameters Where Data Is Passed In From A Stored Procedure

Apr 15, 2008

I have an issue with using multiple parameters in SQL Reporting services where data is passed in from a stored procedure

When running the report in design mode - I can type in a parameter sting and it runs fine

In the report preview screen I can select single parameters by ticking the drop down list and again it runs fine

as soon as I tick more than one I get an error

An error occurred during local report processing

Query execution failed for data set €˜data'

Must declare the scalar variable '@parameter'

Some info...

The dataset 'workshop' is using a sproc to return the data string?

I get multiple values back fine in the sproc using this piece of code

(select [str] from iter_charlist_to_table( @Parameter, DEFAULT) ))

I have report parameters set to Multi-Value

Looking through the online books it says...

You can define a multivalued parameter for any report parameter that you create.

However, if you want to pass multiple parameter values back to a query, the following requirements must be satisfied:

The data source must be SQL Server, Oracle, or Analysis Services.
The data source cannot be a stored procedure. Reporting Services does not support passing a multivalued parameter array to a stored procedure.
The query must use an IN clause to specify the parameter.

Am I trying to do the impossible ?

Reporting Services :: Multiple Values For Filtering In SSRS?

Oct 3, 2012

I'm building a report that has a column in the table called countries of origin, that column can contain data like "USA","China" ( normal countries) but some rows can also contain "USA, China, Australia" ( multiple counties in one row).

I'm trying to build a filter to filter my results :

-I have a data set created with a list of all world countries

-I've Build a Parameter containing a drop down list with all countries

--- My problem is when I want to create the filter in my main data set , I can so it , but when I search for example for "USA" , I don't get the lines where there are multiple countries and "USA" is one of them...

There must be an expression in the filter that will be able to search through all the values in the string and return me my correct results.

REPLACE Funtion For Multiple Values In SP/Reporting Services

Mar 4, 2008

Running into a problem with trying to pull multiple values in a stored procedure.
Ran Profiler for trace on what variable is coming back as when running in Reporting Services.
Profiler shows this:

exec apGetCompanysByRep @Product = N'Absorbent Pads,Airedale Terrier'

Trying to run Replace function but not quite getting the syntaxt correct. The stored procedure will work but when running report will often get unclosed quotation marks.
What I have:

Set @Product=

Replace(@Product, '''' + ',' + @product + '''', (@Product + '''' + ',' + ' ' + '''' + @product + ''''))

This is probably a little too much coding but I've tried several ways.

In the SP the code is as follows:

CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[apGetCompanysByRep]

@Magazine varchar(6) = null

, @DirectsMagazine varchar(6) = null

, @Category varchar(50) = null

, @SubCategory varchar(50) = null

--, @FirstName varchar(30)

, @LastName varchar(30)= null

, @Product varchar(1100)

AS

declare @SQL varchar(2000)

Set @Product=Replace(@Product, '''' + ',' + @product + '''', (@Product + '''' + ',' + ' ' + '''' + @product + ''''))

set @SQL = '

Reporting Services :: Pass Multiple Values From Field To Sub Report

Dec 3, 2015

I would like to know how does subreport accept multi value, and how should i modify my expression so that the sub report will display correctly.

My main report will pass dynamic number of account number to sub report, it depends on how many account number a person has. I have my sub report parameter Data Type set as "Allow multiple values" and the visibility is "Visible".

Currently, I am using the following expression to try to pass multi value from main report to sub report. I had tested the result of that expression. It is showing the following result when there are 3 account numbers to pass to sub report.

1534896
1563498
1593548

With that expression, when only one account no is pass from main report to sub report, the sub report will display the result. But when more than one account numbers are passing over, the sub report display nothing, it is blank.

--expression
=Join(LookupSet(Fields!PersonNo.Value,Fields!PersonNo.Value,Fields!AccountNo.Value,
"accounts"),""
+ VBCRLF)

*Note: I cannot put the account number into a multivalue parameter in the main report and pass from that parameter to sub report. I know this will workd BUT I had tried that by setting the default value in the multivalue parameter to the dataset that consists of the account number. That involves 100 thousand plus plus account numbers and it will for sure over the limit of 8000 characters.

Reporting Services :: Selecting Data Using One Parameter With Multiple Text Values

Oct 9, 2015

I am using SSRS 2008 R2 Report Builder 3.0 (10.50.4276.0) . I have simple set of data which has a persons Title and Name e.g. Mr Smith, Miss Jones, Doctor Foster

The report has a parameter where the user can select which records to show based on the matching titles (Mr, Miss, Doctor)

The Query for the report uses Title in (@Title) where @Title is the only parameter which can take multiple values. The report works correctly for any 1 value selected, but as soon as 2 or more values are ticked in the drop down, it fails.

I believe the parameter value is being passed into the query with a comma separating the values e.g. Mr,Miss which causes the IN statement to give an error, as the statement would be where Title IN ('Mr,Miss') which does not match any of the data values.

The parameter value passed needs to be 'Mr','Miss' for the IN statement to work. What statement do I have to put in the report query to get it to select any of the data rows where the title matches any 1 of the selected values?

Reporting Services :: SSRS Matrix Aggregate Values And Rounding Error

Jun 11, 2015

I am using SSRS 2014. I'm using a matrix instead of a tablix because it allows me to have dynamic columns. In the example I'm showing, two of the columns use the sum function to get the total counts per practice. The third column contains percentages so I averaged for the total but the value is inaccurate compared to the value I would get if the divided the the two totals that are sums of the counts. Is there a way for me to specify that I want to divide the total counts numerator divided by the total counts denominator?

Here's an example report output with the percentage column averaged (inaccurate):

PCP            numerator denominator percentage
John Smith  66             104  63.46
Tom Jones    4                36    11.11
.
.
.
Jane Doe     1    1       100
Total 708          1005       72.3

So the 72.3 value is from Avg(metricvalue)

I would like to do this instead: % total = 708/1005, which equals 70.5 - a significant difference.

The metricvalue column is what is the value for every number above (Because it's a matrix).

Reporting Services :: Error When Exporting Report With Multiple Subreports To PDF

Oct 23, 2015

I have a report in SSRS 2008 R2 that has multiple subreports, in fact the report uses the same subreport twice with different parameters.  Then that subreport also has a subreport, which has a subreport.  (It's a complex data scenario with a hierarchy that can go up to three layers deep.)  The report renders fine in report viewer, but when I try to export to PDF I get the following error:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportServerException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Source Error: An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.

[Code] ....

Each subreport renders correctly to PDF, and if I remove either subreport from the main report, it also renders correctly.  But the two subreports together on the report cause the error.

Removing the third hierarchy layer (the final one) fixes the issue.  Is there a limit to the number of nested subreports when rendering to a pdf?

Report Parameters In Reporting Services

Nov 21, 2004

Hi guys & gals

I'm just setting up Reporting Services for our company and it's a great product, no doubt about it. However, I've come across a problem I can't solve and I wonder if any of you can help.

I've produced a sales report and I want my users to be able to enter a list of sales periods to include on the report. For example, the user might want to view the report for periods 10,11,13,14 and 17 and exclude periods 12,15 and 16. Obviously, the underlying query will probably involve an IN() clause but I'm struggling to think of a way that the user might be able to enter these parameters.

The most obvious way might be by typing in a comma separated string, but I don't know how to then put those values into the query.

Anyone got any ideas?

MS Reporting Services Date Parameters

Mar 26, 2008

Hi,

Not sure if I will be able to get the answer I need on this forum but hopefully I will!

We have a previous report that uses the code:

AND T1."Decision_Date" BETWEEN '2005-07-01 00:00:00.000' AND '2006-06-30 00:00:00.000' AND T1."Decision_Type_Description"

With this the report was run with the "static" dates, the new report (in MS reporting services) requires that the user be able to enter in the start date range and the end date range.

I have come up with something like:
(T1."Decision_Date" = @Start_Year) AND (T1."Decision_Date" = @End_Year)

But not working. Can anyone assist?

Thanks,

jonathanr

Reporting Services - Variables/Parameters - Is This A Bug?

When creating a Reporting Services report and declaring local variables as part of your query in a dataset there is sometimes a problem. When you hit run in the Data section and the €œDefine Query Parameters€? box pops up, all the variables are not there. Sometimes when you go to properties (€¦) of that dataset the parameters are gone. Is this a bug? This is happening both in RS2000 and 2005.

Passing Parameters From ASP.NET To Reporting Services

Aug 30, 2007

I have an asp.net app that is calling a reporting service url. on that url I pass two parameters as query strings. In the Report I defined the query string parameters in the Report Parameters. I then want these two parameters to be passed to the stored procedure in the report. How can I make this happen? The parameters seem to get to the Report but I can't seem to get them mapped to the stored proc. In the data set I defined the stored procs parameters and mapped them to the corresponding Report Parameters but still no go.

I'm assuming there's something fundamental I'm missing here about passing parameters to reporting services.

Thanks
