My SSRS report uses the class through its custom code
I copied the dll & dll.config of the class library to the VS2005 private assembllies and the report works
I copied the dll & dd.config to the reportserver bin and gave the assembly full trust by adding the necessary code group
I even added a code group the give the dll.config file full trust as well
Yet on Repost server, the report does not work
Any ideas
I suspect it is a permission problem

May 21, 2015Below is code I am using to create a heatmap in SSRS. THe code seems to be working well except for one glitch. Sometimes numbers in the "middle of the pack" are white. Obviously they should be one the of colors listed below. Why numbers would be white when I declared only white for IsNothing.Â

In a textbox I use a:
Number -> Custom Format
like these:

but gives me the "Unrecognized identifier" red squiggle.
My FormatString function (in the rdl file) is this:

Apr 20, 2015I have a SSRS report that parses RTF to TXT and displays it in a report.  The report works fine and everything displays correctly.  The subscription email, however, contains a report with errors: Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.UIPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture= neutral,PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.The report contains embedded code as well as references to System.Security and System. Windows. Forms.  I've updated .....Reporting ServicesReportServer ssrvpolicy.config and ....Reporting ServicesReportManager smgrpolicy.config to change permissions to FullTrust.

Sep 22, 2015I have a SSRS report that uses a custom library. The custom library returns a string values, and I have tested this with a windows application.In the SSRS report. I have set the expression value for a text box as  =CodeReportingLibrary.CodeReportingFunctions.GetImage(1232)
However, when i preview the report the text box value shows as #ERROR. I checked the error list and I get a warning message : Warning 1 [rsRuntime ErrorIn Expression] The Value expression for the textrun ‘Textbox5.Paragraphs[0].TextRuns[0]’ contains an error: Attempt by security transparent method 'CodeReportingLibrary.CodeReportingFunctions.GetReferenceImage(Int32)' to access security critical method 'Microsoft. TeamFoundation. Client. TfsTeamProjectCollection..ctor(System.Uri)' failed.  Assembly 'CodeReportingLibrary, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' is partially trusted, which causes the CLR to make it entirely security transparent regardless of any transparency annotations in the assembly itself.  In order to access security critical code, this assembly must be fully trusted.
I have updated the rssrvpolicy.config in ReportServer folder, to include my custom dll.

Jul 9, 2013I am creating a SSRS report which would be executed by User manually through ReportServer URL.User would be generating the SSRS report for different Customer ID based on ad-hoc basis.
I am passing CustomerID as input parameter to the report. Is there any way to get the manually generated SSRS report name as 'Report_CustomerID_TodayDate.xls'.
E.g.If User is generating report for Customer ID 123 today then report name should be 'Report_123_07092013.xls'

Jun 3, 2015Is it possible to have a custom start date parameter on a report? I would like to have a cumulative daily report for the week, Friday to Thursday. The final daily to run on the Friday, then the next week begins. Â I have a enddate, which is today()-1 (for previous day); I need a start date to be variable.

In other words,
On a Monday, report pulls data from last Friday to Sunday;
On a Tuseday, report pulls data from last Friday to Monday,
On a Wednesday, report pulls data from Friday to Tuesday, etc,
until on Friday, the report pulls data from last Friday to Thursday.

Reporting Services :: SSRS 2005 Custom Report Rendering Format Not Working?
Jun 3, 2015I'm trying to add a custom report format to ssrs 2005 as per this [URL] I've added the code snippets in the example to three different ssrs 2005 server RSReportServer.config files but it does not work i.e do not show up in the export drop down when rendering report.
I've tried starting and stopping reporting services and it still does not works.
I've also modified the existing csv extension  with different options to see if it works but to no avail.However it works with SSRS2008 R2 . In fact it works right after I saved the config file, no restart needed.For SSRS2005 the file is in C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.3Reporting ServicesReportServer. I checked the registry setting  just to make sure I'm looking at the correct installation 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE', 'SOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft SQL Server90ToolsClientSetup', 'SQLPath' The three ssrs2005 instances are in three different physical servers and the problem is with all of them so it is not an isolated incident. I've dbowner rights to all three servers. The server versions are 9.0.4060, 9.0.4035 and 9.0.4053

Sep 21, 2015I have created a custom library(CodeLibrary) which internally references the dlls Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client and Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Client.
I added this custom Dll codelibrary.dll to my SSRS report. and the expression of one of the field asÂ
=codelibrary.codefunction.GetValue(1000) Â
codefunction is the class and GetValue is the method.
When I preview the report, I get the error "Error while loading code module:
'CodeLibrary,Version=1.0.0.0,Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=null'. Could not load file or assembly 'CodeLibrary,Version1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."
I am using VS2013, I have placed the custom library DLL in the path
C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 12.0Common7IDEPrivateAssemblies
I have tested the custom library with a WPF application and it works fine.
I am not able to figure out what is causing this error.

The code accepts the parameters and tries to create a list item in moss. I have added the required references. This works fine as long as I work in VISUAL STUDIO IDE. SQL Server 2008 :: Running (sub-report) In SSRS From Custom Code?
Aug 6, 2015I have a balance sheet report developed and working. What I need to do is add the ability to click (or double-click) on a number and have a separate report (drill-down) open with the detail that makes up that number. I've researched drill-through reports, sub reports, etc. but can't find a way to do what I want.
I'm now thinking that I need to add custom code in the report properties, code window to do this. I'm hoping that there is a VB method I can use to call this report and pass a parameter. Pseudo-code for this function would look something like this: RunReport("DrillDownReport", "Parameter").
This seems like it should be pretty easy but I don't know what the function is in VB for running an SSRS report (if there is one).
Is this possible or am I barking up the wrong code tree?
SSRS Reporting From Custom List Returning 1;# In SQL Report

I have a set up SSRS which is reporting from a custom list in sharepoint to SQL 2005. I have created a parameter on the SQL report to return data from a field in the sharepoint list, however when it retrieves the data i get 1;# in front of the returned data?
Why would this happen?

Sep 2, 2015Currently have a single hard coded file path to the SSRS config file which parses the file and provides the reporting services web service url. Â My question is how would i run this same query against 100s of servers that may or may not share the same file path as the one hard coded ?
Is there a way to query the registry to find the location of the config file of any server ? which could be on D, E, F, H, etc.Â
I know I can string together the address followed by "reports" and named instance if needed, but some instances may not have used the default virtual directory name (Reports).
Am I going about this the hard way ? Is there a location where the web service url exists in a table ? I could not locate anything in the Reporting service database. Basically need to inventory all of my reporting services url's.
Integration Services :: How To Execute Custom Class Library Code Through SSIS
Jun 11, 2015I have a requirement in which i have to create a custom .net class library for Ex:-I retrieve password(s) from a thrid party component. Below is what i am doing.
(1) Created a custom class library which reads a custom .xml file from a drive Ex:- "D:MyAppMYAppCofig.xml" and sets to my properties of my custom class library and inside it i created an instance of third party component's class and passed these values. Since i need to use this .net custom class library both in web and ssis/database side i am using this custom .xml file.
(2) After validating passed data (properties set in custom .net class library) the thrid party component instance object created in my custom .net class libraty returs a password to me own custom .net class libray.
(3) This password I use in my web app for connecting to database. This code is working fine.
(4) My question is how to execute a custom .net class library code through ssis and to use the my same custom .net class library and pass the password to my SSIS component / taks so that that code block also uses the returned password to connect and do any needed tasks? In other words how to use custom .net class library from SSIS.

Oct 3, 2007I need to implement custom security in reporting services. I have followed the standard example here:

I got authentication to work without too many problems, and it authenticates by querying my custom table. I want to also maintain my authorizations in the same manner. I want to be able to define in my own tables that user test1 has permission to view reports 1, 3, 5, and 8. User test2 can view reports 1,3,5,8, and 9. User test3 can view 1, 2, and 4. Etc.
The authorization extension, contained in my version of Authorization.cs is where I expected to be able to do this. I wanted to be able to write code that queries my own tables and says, "does this user have permission to view this item?" Getting the this user portion is easy as is obvious in the many checkAccess methods. But being able to tell what item I am currently dealing with has proved impossible from the context of Authorization.cs, which implements IAuthorizationExtension. Knowing what type of item I am dealing with is obvious, but I need to know something that uniquely identifies the exact item I am dealing with.
How can I determine in checkAccess or any of the other available methods what "thing" they are looking at? What can I examine to determine that for instance this particular authorization request is against "Report 1"? It seems that if I was allowed to completely override Authentication to use my tables, I should be able to override Authorization to do the same. Is this possible or am I missing something?

Reporting Services :: Real Time Reporting In SSRS?
Jun 19, 2015We've got a requirement to build the real time report. user can browse report at any point of time and need to see the latest data(stock market) in the report.
I've few options down...
1. Directly point to OLTP database as source and write stored procedure to show result set.
2. Replicate the database and write the SP's to reports. To avoid pointing directly to OLTP db.
3. To build the datawarehouse with dim & facts to show it in reports. I prefer this as a standard method, but this would have some latency depending on trasaction load which will differ from the requirement.
Reporting Services :: SSRS 2008 R2 - HTTP Error 503 - The Services Is Unavailable
Jul 23, 2010We built our prod server [vm] with SQL Server 2008 R2 on Server 2008 R2. It works nicely. Then we made a copy of the VM and renamed it (so our test environment would be IDENTICAL to production). After that, SSRS was broken: I get "HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable." I can't connect via http, or SSMS.
We have tried:
*Â Running SSRS config tool (several times)
* Running with/without the IIS Server Role
*Â Dropping & recreating the SSRS keys
*Â Recreating the ReportServer database, etc
*Â Checking all of the accounts, permissions, etc
*Â Running SQL Repair
*Â Going through the registry to fix any references to the machine's old name
*Â Uninstalling, reinstalling SSRS
* Completely uninstalling ALL of the parts of SQL Server 2008 R2, deleting all directories, removing references to SQL Server from the registry, rebooting, reinstalling everything.
None of this has worked. SSRS [R2] is still 503 on our test box.
the SSRS [NT] service seems to run, without error. The Event Viewer doesn't seem to be recording any errors. The SSRS logs say that the default URL is wrong, but we get the same error in Prod, and Prod works fine. The other SQL Logs say something about not being able to contact the service. However, as I said, the [NT] service seems to be working fine.
Need Help Regarding Custom Colors For Charts In Reporting Services
May 30, 2007I need some help regarding Custom Colors implementation for Charts in the Reporting Services.
What we are trying to do is to make every color for every Series(see example below) to be a customized Corporate color.
For example each of the series on the Chart should be in specific Custom Color:
Series 1 - "LightBlue"
Series 2 - "LightYellow"
Series 3 - "DarkBrown"
All I found from MSDN is how to do it in the Chart Properties in a Code section (right click on the report outside the chart -> Properties -> Code tab -> paste the Custom Code ).
And then to use it in the Chart color definition as:

But we are trying to do it in a separate C# class that would be updated only in one place, instead of changing 30 reports each time something is changed. So that it could be generic.

We are displaying an SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services report in our ASP.NET 1.1 application by accessing the report through URL and embedding the same in an iframe HTML web control. The user can export the report contents into CSV format by making use of the export functionality provided by Reporting Services.
Now we have been asked to display a warning mesage to the user when the no. of records in the report exceeds 1 million i.e. if the no. of records in the report exceeds 1 million and the user tries to export the report to CSV format by clicking on the "Exprot" link button, we need to display a warning message to the user.
My doubt is whether this can be done in Reporting Services. Are there any programmatic interfaces exposed by Reporting Services which might help us implement this requirement ?

Reporting Services :: How To Write Custom Legend Text
Oct 23, 2015I was trying to write a custom legend text for a chart that I have in SSRS. In the chart I have a Bar chart and a Line chart. I have two values coming from a dataset. One is a running value. All the series values are from year dataset.
I need to get a custom legend text for the three data series looking like this. "2013- Mth", "2014-Mth". Year should be dynamic and coming from the dataset.
I tried writing an expression in the series legend option as shown below.
But I don't get the required text for the chart. I only get the default series text for the legend. If I only write a text without the dynamic year taken from the dataset columns I get the custom text. But not when I concatenate the dynamic year series with the static text. Any property to enable/disable?
