SELECT Where Value In A Range And Below A Range

Jul 29, 2013

I have a need to select rows where values in a column are within a range AND ALSO the first row that is highest (MAX) but just UNDER the range. For example:

NAME VAL
Jim 4
John 5
Tom 6
Julie 7
Rich 8
Rob 9

RANGE TO SELECT is 6-8 (inclusive)

Rows with a value in the range are returned (6, 7, & 8) as well as the row with a highest value that is JUST BELOW the range (5)

NAME VAL
John 5
Tom 6
Julie 7
Rich 8

Select Rows Where Value In A Range And Below A Range?

Nov 26, 2014

I'm running a pre-defined script which used to work fine on a file which was resupplied every month. below is the script used and the error message. looking at the error I assume that there is a rouge record within the file but have looked in Textpad and cannot find it.

UPDATE [matching].[dbo].[hot_nov] SET [AOV] = (CAST([Demand] AS DECIMAL)/CAST([Orders] AS INT)) WHERE [Demand] <> '';

UPDATE [matching].[dbo].[hot_nov] SET [POST2] = left([PostCode], PATINDEX('%[0-9]%', [PostCode] + '1') - 1) ;
UPDATE [matching].[dbo].[hot_nov] SET [POST4] = left([PostCode],LEN([PostCode])-4);
UPDATE [matching].[dbo].[hot_nov] SET [POST6] = left([PostCode],LEN([PostCode])-2);

error message

SQL Server 2008 :: Query To Select Date Range From Two Tables With Same Date Range

Apr 6, 2015

I have 2 tables, one is table A which stores Resources Assign to work for a certain period. The structure is as below

Name StartDate EndDate
Tan 2015-04-01 08:30:00.000 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000
Max 2015-04-01 08:30:00.000 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000
Alan 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000 2015-04-02 00:30:00.000

The table B stores the item process time. The structure is as below

Item ProcessStartDate ProcessEndDate
V 2015-04-01 09:30:10.000 2015-04-01 09:34:45.000
Q 2015-04-01 10:39:01.000 2015-04-01 10:41:11.000
W 2015-04-01 11:44:00.000 2015-04-01 11:46:25.000

C 2015-04-01 16:47:00.000 2015-04-01 16:49:25.000

I need to select the item which process in 2015-04-01 16:40:00 and 2015-04-01 17:30:00. Beside that I need to know how many resource is assigned to process the item in that period of time. I only has the start date is 2015-04-01 16:40:00 and end date is 2015-04-01 17:30:00. How I can select the data from both tables. There is no need for JOIN, just seperate selections.

Another item process time is in 2015-04-01 10:00:00 and 2015-04-04 11:50:59.

The result expected is

Table A

Name StartDate EndDate
Alan 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000 2015-04-02 00:30:00.000

Table B

Item ProcessStartDate ProcessEndDate
A 2015-04-01 16:30:10.000 2015-04-01 16:32:45.000
B 2015-04-01 16:33:01.000 2015-04-01 16:35:11.000
C 2015-04-01 16:37:00.000 2015-04-02 16:39:25.000

Scenario 2 expected result

Table A

Name StartDate EndDate
Tan 2015-04-01 08:30:00.000 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000
Max 2015-04-01 08:30:00.000 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000

Table B

Item ProcessStartDate ProcessEndDate
Q 2015-04-01 10:39:01.000 2015-04-01 10:41:11.000

Query Info Between Time Range & Date Range

I am attempting to write a SQL query that retrieves info processed between two times (ie. 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm) during a date range (ie. 8/1/06 to 8/14/06)... I am new to SQL and am perplexed... I have referenced several texts, but have not found a solution. Even being pointed in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!!

Select Next Available Range

4 - 123 - 9003
5 - null - 9004
6 - null - 9005
7 - null - 9006

I need to return the next (TOP 3) consecutive rows where Reference is null. In this case, 9004-9006. I assume a "having" clause but I'm not sure how to do this.

Select From A Date Range

Jul 20, 2005

Hi guys, whilst working on a project which I thought was nearly complete I havecome across a problem which was some how over seen, which I am hopingone of you guys know how to resovle.Firstly here is the script to create the table and insert some sampledata:CREATE TABLE [dbo].[tbltemp999] ([Machine_Name] [char] (17) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NOTNULL ,[EventDate] [datetime] NOT NULL ,[EventID] [int] NOT NULL) ON [PRIMARY]GOINSERT INTO tbltemp999 VALUES ('MOBL','2004-08-16 12:05:14.000',6006)INSERT INTO tbltemp999 VALUES ('MOBL','2004-08-16 12:08:32.000',6005)INSERT INTO tbltemp999 VALUES ('MOBL','2004-09-22 12:24:45.000',6006)INSERT INTO tbltemp999 VALUES ('MOBL','2004-09-22 12:28:25.000',6005)INSERT INTO tbltemp999 VALUES ('MOBL','2004-11-03 17:53:38.000',6006)INSERT INTO tbltemp999 VALUES ('MOBL','2004-11-03 17:57:02.000',6005)INSERT INTO tbltemp999 VALUES ('MOBL','2004-11-04 12:09:10.000',6006)INSERT INTO tbltemp999 VALUES ('MOBL','2004-11-04 12:12:48.000',6005)The EventID 6006 represents a system shut down, and the EventID 6005represents a sytem start. Therefore from the above data you cans seethat the machine is not rebooted very often. My problem occurs when you select a date BETWEEN something where thereis no data. ie BETWEEN 2004-10-01 AND 2004-10-15 my desired resultfrom this should return 15 days of uptime but as there is no data itis returning nothing:(Can anyone work this one out?ThanksSunny

SELECT From A Specific Range Of Dates?

Aug 29, 2007

Hi all,Right now I have this SELECT statement:SELECT     MUSIC_PK, MUSIC_TITLE, MUSIC_TITLE2, MUSIC_ORIGINAL_SINGER Now I want to add a second SELECT statement (same as above, but with an additional column) if the record was added within the 10 days (while still select other records, I just need to select an additional column). How would I do that? The additional column that I want to select is called MUSIC_NEW (so I can display if the record is new within 10 days.) I have a column in my table named DATE_ADDED, how do I go to calculate if it's within the 10 days since the day it was added to the current time?Thank you very much,Kenny.

Select Count One-per-week In Range

Feb 12, 2008

 Hi,I'm
apologizing in advance for using someone else's brainpower on what is
basically a logic problem rather than a creative use of T-SQL, but it's
doing me head in.I have a table which contains information on
bookings for runs of advertising. This includes a BookingStart dateTime
field and a BookingEnd datetime field. Between BookingStart and
BookingEnd an ad is considered to be "live".What I need to do
is construct a query which, given a start date and and end date returns
a count of all the records which were "live" between those dates and -
here's the catch - each week must count separately. In other words if
my query asks for data across four weeks, and an ad was "live" for two
of those weeks, it should return a count of two.Any help much appreciated.Cheers,Matt

Using 1 Parameter To Select A Date Range

Apr 23, 2008

I have a series of "Payroll Periods", called S1 thru S26 for the year. I want to create a parameter call "Pay Period" and have the user select a single pay period, i.e. S13. Elsewhere I know the beginning and ending date for each pay period, but it is in another dataset. So if the user selects S13 and I know the 13th pay period is April 1st thru April 15th, how do I use those dates as my beginning and end dates for my SQL query statement to return only the data from the selected pay period. The data itself has dates and not pay period references.

Transact SQL :: Select First And Last Record For Certain Date Range

Jun 16, 2015

I have a situation where an agent has number of activities for a certain date range. If an agent has multiple activities within certain date range, I would like BALANCE BEFORE from the first activity and BALANCE AFTER from the last activity. Here is my current SQL query that returns the following data:

DECLARE @BeginDate Datetime
DECLARE @EndDate Datetime
Set @BeginDate = '05-1-2015'
Set @EndDate = '05-31-2015'
SELECT
a.AgentName,
R.BALANCEBEFORE,

AGENTNAME          BALANCE BEFORE  BALANCE AFTER          DATE

DOUGLAS              9782.75                9804.75                     2015-05-12
DOUGLAS              9804.75                9837.75                     2015-05-13

In the sample data above, ideally I would like my query to return data as follow:

AGENTNAME          BALANCE BEFORE                  BALANCE AFTER
DOUGLAS              9738.75 (from first activity)    9837.75 (from last activity)

Not sure how I can write sql query to accomplish this.

Out Of Range Datetime Value Error When Inserting Using Select...union

Mar 7, 2006

Hi all,I am getting this error when insert values from one table to another inthe first table the values are varchar (10). In the second they aredatetime. The format of the data is mm/dd/yyyy to be easily convertedto dates. The conversion in this case is implicit as indicated in SQLServer documentation. Here is my query:INSERT INTO Campaign (CampaignID, Name, DateStart, DateEnd, ParentID,ListID)SELECT mysqlfactiva.dbo.campaigns.campaign_id AS CampaignID,mysqlfactiva.dbo.campaigns.campaign_name AS Name,MIN(mysqlfactiva.dbo.programs.start_date) AS DateStart,MIN(mysqlfactiva.dbo.programs.end_date) AS DateEnd,NULL AS ParentID,NULL AS ListIDFROM mysqlfactiva.dbo.campaigns, mysqlfactiva.dbo.programsWHERE mysqlfactiva.dbo.campaigns.campaign_id =mysqlfactiva.dbo.programs.campaign_idGROUP BY mysqlfactiva.dbo.campaigns.campaign_id,mysqlfactiva.dbo.campaigns.campaign_name,mysqlfactiva.dbo.campaigns.descriptionUNIONSELECT program_id + 100000, program_name, start_date, end_date,campaign_id AS ParentID, NULL AS ListIDFROM mysqlfactiva.dbo.programsUNIONSELECT execution_id + 200000, execution_name, start_date,end_date, program_id + 100000 AS ParentID, NULL AS ListIDFROM mysqlfactiva.dbo.executionsUNIONSELECT wave_id + 300000, wave_name, start_date, end_date,mysqlfactiva.dbo.waves.execution_id + 200000 AS ParentID, NULL ASListIDFROM mysqlfactiva.dbo.waves, mysqlfactiva.dbo.executionsWHERE mysqlfactiva.dbo.waves.execution_id =mysqlfactiva.dbo.executions.execution_idI am referencing programs table two times. If I just select this all Iget all data I need. When doing insert I get a message:Server: Msg 242, Level 16, State 3, Line 1The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted inan out-of-range datetime value. The statement has been terminated. If I execute just first part of the query before first union, I insertdata fine:INSERT INTO Campaign (CampaignID, Name, DateStart, DateEnd, ParentID,ListID)SELECT mysqlfactiva.dbo.campaigns.campaign_id AS CampaignID,mysqlfactiva.dbo.campaigns.campaign_name AS Name,MIN(mysqlfactiva.dbo.programs.start_date) AS DateStart,MIN(mysqlfactiva.dbo.programs.end_date) AS DateEnd,NULL AS ParentID,NULL AS ListIDFROM mysqlfactiva.dbo.campaigns, mysqlfactiva.dbo.programsWHERE mysqlfactiva.dbo.campaigns.campaign_id =mysqlfactiva.dbo.programs.campaign_idGROUP BY mysqlfactiva.dbo.campaigns.campaign_id,mysqlfactiva.dbo.campaigns.campaign_name,mysqlfactiva.dbo.campaigns.descriptionAs soon as I use union I get the above error. This is very strangesince even when I execute the query using first union where the datescome from the same table 'programs' I get the error. Why I can insertfrom programs first time and can's second time?Any help will be appreciated. Thanks,Stan

Attempting To Select A Range Of Values Using Wildcard And Between Or Logical Operators?

Mar 16, 2014

I am in the midst of writing a query to return a range of product BIN LOCATIONS from a warehouse stock levels program.I know the start and end BIN LOCATIONS for the warehouse, e.g.: Start - #00000, and End - Z10000.However I cannot hard code these into the program, instead I want my operator to designate the first letter of both the start and end BINS locations, and then hit the 'go button'.Towards this end I have declared a couple of variables in my SQL, as follows -

Code:
declare @strBin varchar(10)
set @strBin = ''
if @strBin = ''
set @strBin = '#%'

declare @endBin varchar(10)
if @endBin = ''
set @endBin = 'z%'

My challenge is writing a relevant WHERE clause for my select statement, I have tried the following -

Code:
where BINLOCAT.BINLABEL between @strBin and @endBin
order by BINLOCAT.BINLABEL

Whilst the clause above does not cause any errors, neither does it return any results. My first thought is that the BETWEEN operator does not accept wildcards. But if this is correct then how do I go about allowing an operator to enter the start, and end BINS without typing the entire BIN string (e.g.: #00000)? I have tried >= @strBin and <= @endBin, but I am having a similar issue with no errors, and no data returned.

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Select Query - Unique Orders For Date Range?

OrderID (PK, int, auto increment, not null)
CustomerID (FK, int, null)
PaymentDate (datetime, null)
UserID (uniqueidentifier)

(and other irrelevant fields)

Basically, for a specific PaymentDate range (29th July 2014 - 26th August 2014, inclusive) I want to select all orders where they only appear once in the orders table based on the CustomerID, so I only want to know about them if they have a paid order (decided by PaymentDate not being null) in that date range, but also taking into account if they have ever had a paid order outside of that date range. I'll also be joining on to the aspnet_Users table to get the username assigned to that order.

Select Month/year When Range Spans Year

Feb 25, 2004

I'm using PHP with SQLServer2k to create a page containing monthly counts of episodes at a facility occurring between two user selected month/year combinations. For instance, the user could select 10/2003 and 2/2004 and facility X and get a line for each month showing the count of episodes occuring in that month.

The problem is that the episode date is stored in three integer fields (epiday, epimonth, epiyear) and I'm having a terrible time getting them into a format where I can use them in a between statement.

I've tried evaluating the parts of the episode date seperately like:

where
(epimonth>=10 and epiyear=2003)
or
(epimonth<=2 and epiyear=2004)

and that works, but what happens when someone wants to see from 10/2002 to 2/2004?

Any suggestions on the best way to do this?

Checking For A Range

Aug 5, 2004

I want to do a check to see if a number falls within a range specified by the user. Basically, they enter in a min and max value and I return a hit if a number falls inbetween.

I have having trouble with my SQL statement:

Code:

SELECT DISTINCT *
FROM Table
WHERE ( (0=0)
AND
(min.value <= Table.Value <= max.value) )

(This isn't my actual code, but just the logic)

It will return all the results everytime. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could be missing here?

Thanks in advance!

Find IP In Range

Dec 2, 2006

Hi there:

This one's a bit tricky. I want to be able to take an IP address of a request on my website and find it in a table. Specifically, I need to be able to record IP address RANGES for search engines so that when they attempt to find a page that isn't there, I can programmatically send a 404 header instead of give them the human-friendly page (please don't make suggestions on this - I'm using PHP, etc., and can't send both a 404 header and a human-friendly page).

Anyway. Let's say a search engine has the IP range 33.33.0.0 through 33.33.255.255 (I made that up). if I receive a request from IP 33.33.101.221, how can I store ONE record (as either a regular expression or maybe multiple fields or somehow else) so that I can match that IP? I'm normally pretty good at figuring stuff like this out, but this one has me stumped for the moment.

All help is greatly appreciated.

I'll be posting a similar request on the PHP forum - I hope that's not considered cross-posting.

Jay
