My question is that I am getting an error for the Excel connection manager, do I need to install some kind of excel drive or excel itself on the machine in order to be able to import the data?

But when I deploy and try to execute the package, I'm getting the below error. I've a question, whether I've to install the AccessDatabaseEngine driver in SQL database server or the web server where I'm executing the SSIS?
Error: The requested OLE DB provider Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 is not registered. If the 64-bit driver is not installed, run the package in 32-bit mode.

Aug 20, 2015I have an excel file which contains lots of sheets. Some of them are named as DW-<day>-<month> (for e.g; DW-1-July). Like this I have sheets for the whole month. I have other sheets too with a different name. I would like to import data from these sheets only (DW ones). Upon my research I have found that this can be achieved via For Each Loop Container (I guess!).
Post data import, I have a set of T-SQL query that I plan to execute via Execute SQL Task.
Poor Chart Quality When Exported To Excel

Whenever we export a chart to excel, the quality of the chart becomes very poor (blurred image and font).
The images look crisp when viewing from report manager and the designer.
Has anyone encountered and solved the same problem?

Jul 29, 2015I am trying to import an xlsx spreadsheet into a sql 2008 r2 database using the SSMS Import Wizard. When pointed to the spreadsheet ("choose a data source") the Import Wizard returns this error:
"The operation could not be completed" The Microsoft ACE.OLEDB.12.0 provider is not registered on the local machine (System.Data)
How can I address that issue? (e.g. Where is this provider and how do I install it?)

May 8, 2009I'm using SSIS 2005 Enterprise edition, I'm creating a package that reads an excel (xls) file using the "excel source" component, and it dumps the data into an OLEDB destination (a sql server). When I drag the excel source component and create the excel connection to my file the component automatically reads the columns and their datatypes.
The problem is that I have a column which has numeric data and the package uploads as NULL every number that starts with a zero. (note: in excel this column is formatted as "text", despite it has only numbers, because it's the only way excel maintains the left sided zeros).
So I checked the data types by right clicking the excel source component -> show advanced editor and my surprise is that this column's data type is detected as double-precision float, and it doesn't let me change it. URL... but it only works when the first row of data has a number beginning with zero on this column. How to get the data imported correctly?

Jul 15, 2015I need to export some data from sql server 2012 to a excel file(.xlsx). Truncation error happened when executing the exporting task, error happened in conversion from a column of type nvarchar(max) to a column of type LongText. Max length of the source column data is 4303, and documented length limit of LongText, which is a alias of type Memo, is 64,000. why this error happen?

Aug 7, 2015I have an excel sheet containing one column (ID_NO) with 400K rows. I have a database from where I have to fetch some other columns from a Netezza database. Initially I tried hardcoding all the 400K rows in the query that I wrote using filter WHERE ID IN ('1212','2334'). But after pasting all the 400K rows the query is running indefinitely.
I have imported all the ID in a SQL table (MY_LIST table). I used a DFT, and selected ODBC source, and selected my netezza server. Then in the 'Data access mode' I selected the SQL command from the dropdown.I pasted the same query that I wrote in Netezza. Is there any way to pull only for those records that I have pulled in my SQL table (MY_LIST) ?

DTS Import Negative Excel Values

I have a DTS package that imports excel spreadsheets.
The excel spreadsheet cells contain numbers based on vlookups. Now negative values appear in these cells as -999 but when loaded into the table they appear as (999).
Is there anyway way to configure it to just load -999? The tricky part is I don't have control over the format of the spreadsheet cell and the destination table field is varchar. I am hoping there is some way that the DTS interprets and picks up the value as it is displayed in excel.
Or do I have to stick with converting it manually by replacing '(' and ')' with nothing and appending '-'?

How Do Create Table From Excel (based On Excel Column Name) And Import Data From It?

l've some excel files controlled by Vendor which changing frequently. The only thing does not change is the header name of each column.
So my question is, is there any way to create a new table based on the excel file selected including the column name in SSIS? So that l can use the data reader as source to select those columns l am interested on and start the integration.

Is The Export Quality For PDFs In Reporting Services 2005 Only 96DPI?
Apr 20, 2008I have been fighting with Reporting Services all day, and despite setting the PDF output quality to 300DPI, I have noticed that the image quality appears to be only 96DPI. I've noticed this because images with a size set for 300DPI are too large for the page, and images set for 96DPI fit just right.
Could someone please tell me if this is a limitation of Reporting Services 2005, or am I just doing something wrong?
I need to know this because I am up against a deadline with this project. I had ran several tests with Reporting Services but had never had assumed there would be problems with image quality.
Is there any other product that offers similar features to Microsoft Reporting Services that you could recommend?
My luck has not been very good with this project, and I'm assuming the response is going to be 96DPI is all that is supported...

Using A Excel Source To Get The Data From An Excel File Gets Null Values For A Couple Columns

A couple columns are coming in a double precision float, but some values have characters in them, but those values are coming out as null, even though I changed the datatype from float to unicode string. I have installed the Access driver (AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe)
I have configured the script to run the following SP

So I first create my Temp Table
The run the SP above then I run the insert into the Temp table defined

What I have set wrong on the import? Using SSIS at this point is not a real option.
SQL 2012 :: SSIS - Import Date As Variable From Excel File
Feb 5, 2015I am using vs 2010 and I have an .xls file that I am trying to import into SQL Server 2012, and I have most of it figured out, but I have a date field that is giving me problems, and what I would like to do is put that date in a variable so I can add it to every record in my SQL Table.
I am using a SQL Task Editor with an excel connection and I have no problem getting other data from the excel document and putting into my variable, its just the date that I have problems.

I have found by looking around the internet that you need to do this in the Tables -> [Table Name] -> Columns -> [Column Name], Properties window, and I see the "Identity Increment" however all of the properties there are greyed out -- I can't access them. Any ideas on how to make this work?For some background: I'm running SQL Server 2005 with Visual Studio 2005. To create this database, I right-clicked on my project, and went to 'Add SQL Database', I filled in the columns all from within visual studio.

Apr 22, 2014I am looking at the file / filegroup level backup and recovery options within SQL Server and I'm struggling with the following concept.
Books online assures me that it is possible to perform a file restore whilst the database is in the simple recovery model.
So I have set up a database with two separate file groups, a read/write primary and a read only "secondary". Each filegroup has 2 underlying data files.
I have then created a "live" customers tables within the primary filegroup and assigned my existing "archive" customers tables within the secondary filegroup.
If I try to perform a file or filegroup level backup within management studio, those options are greyed out. I can only perform a database backup.
If I switch back to the full recovery model, the options are no longer greyed out.
So my question is this, is file level backup and recovery actually supported in the simple user model, do you have to perform this task outside of management studio, or (as is likely) am I missing something crucial?

i want to import data from an excel sheet into a database. While reading from the excel sheet OleDb automatically guesses the Datatype of each column. My Problem is the first A Column which contains ~240 Lines. 210 Lines are Numbers, the latter 30 do contain strings. When i use this code:

So my question is how to tell OleDB that i want that column to be completly read as String/Varchar?

Reporting Services Option GREYED OUT!

I have a workstation that had an installation of SQL 2K5 that a tech set up for me. Naturally, it was the wrong edition AND no components were actually installed, making my laptop into a paperweight. I advised that we get SQL Developer for the DBA's and I am trying to install but the option for Reporting Services is greyed out.
I have uninstalled SQL (I think it was Standard) and I even went through the "complete uninstall" detailed in one of these threads thinking that was the problem. I am still unable to install Reporting Services.
Has anyone run into this problem?
PLEASE HELP!

After import I found that all the cells containing data of more than 2000 length got truncated to 255 characters only. I tried finding the solution and found that We need to have the data with length more than 255 in first 8 rows of Excel sheet. It worked for me also. But In real scenario the data that I cant do the manual work on excel. I tried out with Dot Net utility and SSIS package also but the truncation is still the issue.

Jun 15, 2007Hi, I'm building a web application in VB.NET 1.1 where users will upload Excel files at this webpage and the web application will transfer the data from the uploaded Excel file into MS SQL 2000. There are around 600-700 records and about 56 columns in the Excel file which is to be uploaded daily. There will be a few different files which I need to implement for as well.
I've sourced for and tried alot of methods. But either they can't satisfy my requirements or they just can't simply work.
- Most simple and direct way I've tried is creating a oledb connection to the Excel file in the following codes...

For the above codes, I kept getting the error "Ad hoc access to OLE DB provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' has been denied. You must access this provider through a linked server." at the line cm.ExecuteNonQuery() and I've tried to disable the Ad Hoc settings in the registry and tried to create a link server but to no avail as well...
- I've tried DTS but I'd need to DTS package to run whenever the users upload a file. Is there an easy way that I can run the designated DTS package to run through my .Net web application?
