SQL 2012 :: Error When Running SSISDB Execution Report
Nov 15, 2013
Whenever you connect to a database server that is running SQL 2012 integration services, then you right click on SSISDB, choose "Reports, then Standard Reports, then Executions" there is a display of each execution and options to drill down.
There is a particular execution that when I click to see "All Messages" I get a blank screen in SSMS with the following error: "Error: and error occurred during local report processing. --> An error has occurred during report processing. --> Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown."
Before I go add more memory to this SQL box, I need to understand how an out of the box, canned SSRS report such as this, which is built into Integration Services could produce this issue?
There is a checkbox when you create an SSIS catalog which says "Enable automatic execution of Integration Services stored procedure at SQL Server startup". It's a good practice to have this option on. BUT! How do you verify whether this option is ON or OFF after you have created a catalog and how do you enable it if it wasn't enabled at the time of creating the catalog?
When i run it from sql server data tools on the test box it runs fine. However when i run it from the ssisdb directly i get the below error.
reload table tablename1 from Excel file:Error: The "filetoload.Outputs[Excel Source Output].Columns[Product]" failed because truncation occurred, and the truncation row disposition on "filetoload.Outputs[Excel Source Output].Columns[Product]" specifies failure on truncation. A truncation error occurred on the specified object of the specified component.
reload table t from Excel file:Error: There was an error with filetoload.Outputs[Excel Source Output].Columns[Product] on filetoload.Outputs[Excel Source Output]. The column status returned was: "Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page.".
During the installation of the SSISDB in SQL 2012 AG, the password used to encrypt the database was not preserved. Now when the server is failed over, the SSISDB on the new primary node is not use-able.Document the password and decrypt after using the master key after failover.
I need to extract the .ispac file from the SSISDB. I can retrieve the stream with catalog.get_project sp. However, the file I end up with cannot be unzipped, giving an error message. My guess is that it is meta-data on the zip/ispac file that has a problem, because I can actually unzip it with Winrar, but not with any of those I (programmatically) need to unzip it with.
Below is the code for my stored procedure - My own suspicion is in the BCP usage to turn the stream into a file.
USE [SSISDB] GO ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[spGetIspacFile] @project VARCHAR(255) , @environmentFolder VARCHAR(50) , @ispacTempFolder VARCHAR(100) , @ispacFilePath VARCHAR(200) OUTPUT
I would like to figure out a way to give access to QA's to run and View reports on SSISDB catalog without giving them SSISAdmin or SYSAdmin permisions.?
I've come across an unusual error on some of our machines. I'm trying to track down why only certain ones will give an error. I thought it might have something to do with .NET 2.0 not being installed, but I assume that they wouldn't even be able to launch Report Builder if this is the case. I'm at the point now where I've been told these machines have .NET 2.0. I plan on trying to verify soon, but I thought I'd get everyone's opinion on what it could be.
With even the simplist report (just 1 field dragged onto the report) the following error appears: "Report execution error The report might not be valid or the server could not process the data." When I clicked on the details, the following appears: "The numeric portion of 0pt cannot be parsed as a unit of type Point. ----- The type initializer for 'Microsoft.ReportingServices.Design.Constants' threw an exception."
This model was created with Business Intelligence Development Studio and we're using SQL 2005 Enterprise.
Anyone have any thoughts on what this could be or how I can better troubleshoot it?
I select the option execution from a report (it's in properties option) and then raise an error which says An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) Get Online Help EXECUTE permission denied on object 'xp_sqlagent_notify', database 'mssqlsystemresource', schema 'sys'.
I am running a huge SSRS 2008 report and it gets rendered sometimes and sometimes it gives me an error,"The report execution has expired or cannot be found. (rsExecutionNotFound)”.
When I see SQL Server log after this issue comes I see following message there; "A significant part of sql server memory has been paged out. This may result in performance degradation. Duration: 300 seconds. Working set(KB): 97672, memory utilization 42%" .what is the issue and how to fix it.
I'm facing a strange problem.. I've developed few reports. they are working fine in develop environment. after successfull testing they were published on web. in web version, all reports are executing for first time.. if I change any of parameters values or without chaning also.. if I press "View Report" following error occurs..
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Query execution failed for data set 'dsMLGDB2Odbc'. (rsErrorExecutingCommand)
For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors
please suggest any alternative ways to overcome this issue thanks in adv.

I have an execute process task in SSIS that executes a .Net program. When this is running as a Sql Server Agent job in Sql Server 2005, I have no issues. The operating system of the server is Windows Server 2003 R2.
Now I'm trying to get this working as a Sql Server Agent job in Sql Server 2012. The operating system of the server is Windows Server 2012 R2. And now I have issues.
If I run the SSIS package in Visual Studio debug mode, I have no issues! It's only when I try running the same package from a Sql Server Agent job that there are problems. The .Net program errors out with a System.TypeInitializationException.
I thought this might be an issue running the .Net program as 64 bit so I changed the agent setting to 32 bit. That didn't work. I thought it might be an issue with authorization (since I can run it in debug with me as the user). I put in a class in the program that changes the user through impersonation. That didn't work either.
Since I don't have a full-blown version of Visual Studio on the database server, I haven't been able to capture the error and debug the program to see where it is blowing up.
why something like this would work in Sql Server 2005/Windows 2003 but not in Sql Server 2012/Windows 2012 when run as an agent job? And on top of that, why would it work when I run it manually in debug mode but not when run as an agent job?
I have created and deployed my first report. It renders fine for me and the other database admin. When others attempt to view it, we get the error
Query execution failed for data set 'periods'. (rsErrorExecutingCommand), For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors
Initially, We created a local group on the machine that hosts both the database and webserver and added the individuals to that group. Then, within SRS Report manager, we added that group to the Browswer role of the report. The error message was slightly different, in that it couldn't even open the Datasource.
We then added an individual to the database as dbreader, and got the above message. It apprently is starting to render, and when it encounters the first query (dataset "periods", which populates a drop down list for a parameter), it chokes. BTW, the Periods dataset executes a stored procedure dbo.Period_List that has no parameters. It returns a list of reporting periods.
I could not figure out how to "enable remote errors" or find an error log on the server. The C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.3Reporting ServicesLogFiles Log files did not appear to record any errors.
While trying to fetch report ,getting below error.
Title Object reference not set to an instance of an object. System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Pagal.ReportManager.Web.UI.FolderTree.get_SelectedFolderID() at Pagal.ReportManager.Web.View.ReportManagement.EditReport.VerifyItemDoesNotExist(String item) at Pagal.ReportManager.Web.UI.Validation.SSRSNameValidator.SubClassEvaluateIsValid()
I'm encounter lately some weird behaviour of SSRS in BIDS as well as after deploying on Reporting Server. I'm running basic classical SQL SSRS Reports with Oracle DB connection. My reports have header and footer pagination and well defined report layer configuration. All the reports are simple based on one table and some basic parameters passed to query.
In query builder from BIDS from data tab, the query is running fine without any other execution delays. Also the query is runnign fine in PL/Dev environment. When I switch in "Preview" mode the report hangs in execution and just showing "Report is being generated" without any resuts. After a while is generating an execution error (after 20 min).
The behaviour is the same after deployment on Report Server . I now...here it comes...the problem is intermitent...some times the report is working...but most of the times it hangs on execution. I checked the report from top to bottom and nothing's wrong from design perspective.
On other reports I don't have this problem and I don't understand where to start to investigate.
I am setting up the SQL2005 reporting service to let users build their own reports on the web. I'll provide them with pre-built report models. We have concern with SQL database performance by allowing users to execute huge reports. The problem that I have is: If I give the users permissions to build report they'll have access to the report's Properties | Execution page, which allows them to disable the report execution timeout. Is there a way for me to allow them build reports while restrict them to access the report execution timeout settings?
Has anyone monitored the execution of SSIS packages with MOM? Are there extreme benefits over just utilizing the built in execution and event logs, as well as the Windows Event Viewer?
What is the recommended way to monitor SSIS execution?
I had created 2 packages... one is the parent package and contains a 50 iterations loop running a secondary package for each iteration... i had reached the following conclusion:
My package takes an average of 5 seconds from the time it ends executing one iteration and starts another... after about 30 iterations... my average time between end and start increases significantly to about 12 secs or even more...
All packages have delay validation set to false, and receive several variables from the parent package... Has for the logging, it is done to files based on a path coming from a variable in the parent package.
To execute the parent package i am using dtexecui.exe and i consider this behavior rather strange... had anyone experienced the same? Can anyone test this?
My environment is a 4 x64 processors with 8gb memory, so i guess its good enough to get 0 secs from end to start
I have a report which have multiple parameters. By default all the parameters are selected. Now I am scheduling a Cache with Report Execution Snapshot. Now if I try to view the report, it disables the prompt selection. It means user cant change the selection. Is it the expeceted behaviour of the exectuion snapshot? Thanks, S Suresh
When I execute a long running procedure, I get timeout errors when other users try to execute other procedures with UPDATE or INSERT statements.
I suspect that the other procedures are trying to execute DML statements on tables that are locked by the long running procedure.
I have a sharred trigger on all my tables that creates and updates records in tables AuditLogDetails and AuditLogParent for keeping a log of modifications. I suspect that tables AuditoLogDetails and AuditLogParent are locked by the long running procedure.
How can I change the LOCKING behavior of the long running procedure to fix the time out errors that I get?
The long running procedure is displayed below.

I have a report that uses three tables from a database. As long as I only use two of the tables, it runs fine. I need the data from the third table for a line chart. So of course there is a great deal of data in the third table. I have a where clause for start date and end date. Is there a way I could only search the third table after I know what I need from it? Or

If you guys any solution for this please let me know. I was wondering could this be a scale-out deployment issue ?
I also get the error when setting up the DataBase Setup : Although saving the database connection info succeeded the The report server cannot access internal info about this deployment to determine whetherthe current con fig is valid for this editionThis could be a scale-out deployment and that the feature is not supported by this editionTo continue use a diff report server database or remove the encription keys

Do I need the report server running in order view a SSRS report in a report viewer control? I've created my report in .net and it works great when I'm viewing it in visual studio, but can I run it my web app without the report server.
I want to find out more information about the execution plan. I saw Parallelism (Gather Streams) in the excution plan. In what situation we can see this icon?If in case if we need to avoid how can we avoid this?
We have got a query for fine tuning and it is using lot of CTE ,how can i check the execution plan of that?
CREATE VIEW Mercy AS with ADR as ( SELECT urpx.RoleID , urx.UserID FROM [DBA].dbo.URPX WITH ( NOLOCK ) INNER JOIN [DBA].dbo.URX WITH ( NOLOCK ) ON urpx.RoleID = urx.RoleID WHERE PermissionID = '1' ), SDR as (

SELECT urpx.RoleID FROM [DBA].dbo.URPX WITH ( NOLOCK ) INNER JOIN [DBA].dbo.URX WITH ( NOLOCK ) ON urpx.RoleID = urx.RoleID LEFT OUTER JOIN ADR ON ADR.UserID = urx.UserID WHERE ADR.RoleID IS NULL AND PermissionID='2' )
I have an execution plan that is huge, the pdf it generates if I print it is over 1000 pages. Is there a way to change the graphical plan into a table, so I can sort the %, and find the items that are taking the longest?
