I would like to know if there is a way to find out who changed a users roles/access WITHOUT using the audit function. For example, if a user account was created and given SA access then changed to read only, how can I find out who made that change? I tried searching for an answer, but kept getting no results. I'm thinking this may tie into the sys.sysusers view?

I am trying to migrate reporting services from SQL server 2000 to SQL 2005. I followed the migration steps listed in one of the TechNet documents. Installed SQL 2005 and SP2.
Backed up existing SQL 2000 databases and restored on SQL 2005.
Went to Configuration tool and then to the Database setup. Connected to SQL 2005.
Clicked on the Upgrade button. The upgrade fails and I always get the following errors:
"The database version (C.0.6.54) does not match your reporting services installation. You must upgrade your Reporting services database"
Then I get this exception:

I do not understand why it is looking for user 'RSExecRole', which is a role.

I am relatively new to sql developer. There is a new user that just joined our organization. I am trying to grant him the same direct grants privilege to the tables that an existing user has. The existing user has a ton of direct table access privileges and it will take days if I had to do each grant one by one like: grant select,insert,delete,update on 'table name' to 'user id'. Is there a way of copying or inserting an existing user's privilege and granting it to a new user.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an SSIS package built by another developer, and now that I'm running it under my login the passwords won't save. The solution and packages are setup with ProtectionLevel EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey, but how do I get the User Key to reset so I can now save passwords? I can re-enter them, but whenever I enter hte password and test it then click OK it still has the red arrow next to the connection as if there's an error. I can create new connections and those passwords save fine, but with 40-50 items in this package I hate the thought of having to go into each and change the connection.
I tried changing the package and solution to DontSaveSensitive then rebuilding and closing then reopening, I hoped there was some option to reset the User Key just as if I created the solution. If this option doesn't exist why?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOur system administrator set up an NT server group in order to allowour users to login to our application via https to our sql server.The group appears as a User in SQL Server when you look at it inEnterprise Manager. That said, I can not see the users associatedwith the group from Enterprise Manager, but know they can login to thedatabase.The problem is this. When we login via the web we get access to thedatabase without problem, but when you look at the current_user whatyou see is the login Name the user entered and NOT the name of thegroup/User. That is to say, I can see a UserID which is not listed asa User in SQL Server and can't see the name of the group, which islisted as a user in SQL Server.I need to know who's logging in order to direct them to theappropriate web page via their role. Before the admin set up thegroup, I was using sp_helpuser to get the role, but then again I hadthe userID to do this.The question I have now, is there any way to see what thegroup/user is who logged in i.e. the goup listed as the User inEnterprise Manager? View 2 Replies View RelatedEarlier one of my team member has created a user login and password but forgot the password after few days and now we need to know the password of that login. Some of the application are using this login so we can delete and create a new login with the same name hence is there any possibility or script to find out the password of the existing login.

I work for a ISV producing HR applications.
When user starts the applications the program shows all databases that the user have access to. This is done by select all names from master..sysdatabases and then trying to "USE dbname" to see if user have access,. Users doesn't have sa rights.
This procedure takes approximately 90 secs for a server with 500 databases and that has become a problem.
Does anyone know off a faster method, any suggestions?

Hi, I have a stored procedure that calls a scalar function. It works fine on my development database, but on my production database, I get this error when trying to execute the procedure: Cannot find either column "dbo" or the user-defined function or aggregate "dbo.MyFunction", or the name is ambiguous. However, I am able to execute the function outside of the procedure like this: select dbo.MyFunction(0, 0) Anyone have idea? I can't figure it out.

I need to get a website up and running for a small group of people. I've had SQL Server for a while, but didn't have any use for it. It came with Visual Studio 2005, which gave me a little know how on scripting. Now, I have Visual Web Developer and what I need to make a web page. I just need to know how to configure all my settings to allow my website to be viewed online by anyone with an internet connection. I'm a person that understands detailed or simple directions, but I can not seem to find directions online. Now, I know what your thinking, but I've never attemped anything like this before. So, please, HELP! I need and want to learn as much as possible.

I'm getting a specific error when i try to run a .sql script for a Custom TableProfile from the Asp.net site,when i Parse the .sql file Commands execute perfectly. But when i actually "Execute" the .sql script i get the following errors::
Msg 15151, Level 16, State 1, Line 5
Cannot find the user 'WYATT-PCWyattASPNET', because it does not exist or you do not have permission.
How can i fix this??

I got an error that says to run DBCC CHECKTABLE, but I can't find what table it is. It gives the db id and page Id. I ran DBCC PAGE but I could not figure out what object is using that page. I posted the error and dbcc page results below. Also, Slot 74 is not missing. I could not find m_objId or AllocUnitId in any system tables . Also, I got the same error for this db several other times. When I ran dbcc checkdb I did not get any errors. This is a SQL 2012 db created by SharePoint.

The intention is, a query which suggests some columns to be indexed; Based on the usage of the column by the queries that run on server.
So I need to write a script to look for available free space percentage in my databases, but I only want it to look at capped files. We consider a file with autogrowth off as capped for our purposes.
This is my problem: in sys.database_files and sys.master_files, if I have autogrowth off then max_size is -1, which is the same value as unlimited growth.
I cannot find another setting anywhere to determine how SQL Server recognizes that a particular file is set to not allow autogrowth. Any setting in a DMV anywhere where I can see whether autogrowth is disabled or not?
I'm trying to run an Insert on tables using a User Login but I keep getting the error above. I ran the insert using my own credentials and it worked. The User LOGIN in question has read & write permission to the database.

how to calculate the CPU utilization using perfmon.I tried to use SQL query which gives CPU history using SQL DMV, but I am unable to get the exact value. Because in between I have used the same querry to capture my CPU usage on the run day, the value on run day and the query which iam tryting to pull out is different. View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a table of phonecall records detailing amongst other things the time and duration of the call. there is a relationship linking this table to a table of handsets and from there to a table of users. this users table lists the start date the user had the phone. as ever sample data might make this easier to show:
