I have a table where one of the fields contains XML as in the following. Is there an SQL update statement that can change any occurrences of timezoneIdfrom 0 to 1, and timezone from America/New_York to America/Chicago and time to time - 1 hour?
I have log files that I am loading into a table with duration data in the format "xx hrs xx min xx sec". Only the parts that are required will be there so if duration is only 2 seconds , the column will show "2 sec".
I am trying to get the duration into in to do some analysis on it and I have come up with this query so far which returns the correct data but i am wondering if there is a way to do what I am trying in a more readable format.
CREATE TABLE #tmp(duration VARCHAR(20))
INSERT INTO #tmp VALUES ('1 hrs 20 min 12 sec'), --4812 sec ('48 sec'), --48 sec ('39 min 1 sec'), --2341 sec ('11 hrs 1 min 1 sec'), --39661 sec ('59 min 0 sec'), --3540 sec ('2 min 50 sec') --170 sec
I have a field that will look something like this. I need to read a file and when the first 3 positions are REM, the number following is the Order number, and the initials, are the rep. this is how they are tracking for the rep, if they sent reminders to customers and when.
REM 0482348 LV 04/13
I would like to do this in SQL and also join to the order header file that will give me the invoice total for that order. what is the best approach here via SQL for these first 2 fields' needed?
I am trying to update records based on the results of a query with a subquery.
The result set being produced shows the record of an item number. This result produces the correct ItemNo which I need to update. The field I am looking to update is an integer named Block.
When I run the update statement all records are updated and not the result set when I run the query by itself.
Below is the code I am using in an attempt to update the block column but it updates all records and not the ones which I need to have the Blocked field set to 1.
Update #items set Blocked = 1 Where Exists ( SELECT ItemNo=MAX(CASE rn WHEN 1 THEN ItemNo END) --,SearchNo --,COUNT(*)
[Code] ...
Why is the update changing each record? How can I change the update to choose the correct records?
I want to update tableToUpdate in batches of 5000 per batch and set the lastenecryptionDT to null based on the the join to the tableValues using the column ENCRYPTIONID, and also output updated rows into another table. Incase I would need to do a rollback.

How can I update each record in a table, based on a value in another tablewith a single SQL statement? For example, suppose I have the following two tables:Table1Name Something Color-----------------------------------------John GHAS BlueJohn DDSS BlueJohn EESS BluePaul xxxx RedRingo HJKS RedRingo FFFS RedSara hjkd PurpleSara TTHE PurpleJimi sdkjls GreenTable2Name Color------------------------John ?Paul ?Ringo ?Sara ?Jimi ?How can I update the color field in table 2 to correspond with the colorfield in table1 (so I can normalize the db and delete the color field fromtable1)?I know I could open table2 and loop through within my app; just wonderingabout a single SQL statement that would do it. I need a similar technique inother places as part of my app. Thanks,Calan
I am trying to update text fields where the field only has the value"closed." So a field that has closed and anything else will not beupdated.update dbo.Histset dbo.Hist.Notes = ''FROM dbo.HistWHERE (Notes LIKE 'closed_')update dbo.Histset dbo.Hist.Notes = ''FROM dbo.HistWHERE (Notes LIKE 'closed%') and len(convert(varchar(7000),notes)) = 7Neither code works and i get this error: "Subquery returned more than1 value. This is not permitted when the subquery follows =, !=, <, <=, >, >= or when the subquery is used as an expression. The statement has been terminated."What's another way to make the update?
My client wants to minimize concurrency issues by only updating fields that the user actually changed. Whereas most update stored procedures I have created just updated all of the fields WHERE key=value, they want to update individual fields.
What I came up with so far does not look very efficient and I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for improvement.
I have Database Library, which has a lot of tables and we need 3 tables for quary:
Table Librarians: field ID, field Surname; Table StudentCard: field ID, foreign key on table Librarians and other fields, which we don't use Table TeacherCard: field ID, foreign key on table Librarians and other fields, which we don't use
Query: Select the librarian's surname, which gave the most count of books.
I know, how to resolve, when i took datas only from one table, e. g. TeacherCard
SELECT TOP 1 WITH TIES Librarians.LastName, MAX(Librarians.CountOfBooks) AS Books FROM (SELECT L.LastName, COUNT(*) AS CountOfBooks FROM Libs L, T_Cards T WHERE T.Id_Lib IN (SELECT L.Id) GROUP BY L.LastName) AS Librarians GROUP BY Librarians.LastName ORDER BY MAX(Librarians.CountOfBooks) DESC GO
I dont know, how to use datas from TeacherCard and from StudetnCard at the same time.
Doing a data migration from one CRM to another and need to get a listing of all entities in current CRM, together with fields and field types. OK, I got the XRMToolBox which gives me that, but I'm hoping there is a sql tool out there that will do the same, plus give me a count on each field of the number of entries in that field in the database.
For example in a table with this fields "field1, L1,L3,L100" field2 the count is 3
it would be better to match a number into the like but i thinks it cannot be done in the like so i've to add another condition to ensure all the text after L is a number.
is this the best way to do it?
Select count(*) from Information_Schema.Columns Where Table_Name = @Table AND column_name like 'L%' and ISNUMERIC(SUBSTRING(column_name,2, len(column_name)-1))=1
I have a simple select query and I need to eliminate records whose values from 2 different fields match. I thought I had this working, but if one of those fields in my data IS NULL it filters out those records. If I comment out my last line then my number record shows, if I include that statement that record drops. The only thing I see in my data is the Name and PName are both NULL in the data for that particular number. Just need to filter out any records where it finds those 3 Names that also have "Default" as the PName, then include everything else even if Name or Pname is NULL.
Below is my where clause.
WHERE [DETERMINATION] <> 'Denied' AND [Number] ='A150731000039'
---- Removes incorrect records where these names match---- AND ([Name] NOT IN ('GLASSMAN','NANCY','LUDEMANN') AND [PName] = 'DEFAULT')
I need to build an update query for all my article beginning with '0.%' for my varchar field refkey, but depending on some conditions.
For example. Case st.base <> '' and st.qttbase <> 0 Theo refkey = B Case st.cos <>'' and st.qttcos <> 0 Then refkey = C Case st.refo <> '' and st.qttrefo <> 0 Then refkey = R
But my problem are That i can have Many combination on refkey, for example:
B,BC,BCR,C,CB,CBR,R...and so on.
Also i need to separate the letters with comma, like:
I need to update the ilocationid from Table 1 to all Table 2 records related to Table 1but there is no direct relation from Table 1 to Table 2. I needed Table 3 to make the connection from Table 1 to 2.
Is it possible to reference a temporary global tale (##table) of a linked server using the 4 parts "identifier": linkedserver.database.schema_name.##object_name ?? Thanks in advance for your help.
I have two tables. Status and Fourhistory tables.Status table contains a status column with effectivestart and end dates as history. This column is having history at month level.
Fourhistory table maintains 4 columns as part of history with the use of effectivestart and end dates. Here history capturing is at day level.
Desired Result: I want to merge the status column into FourHistory table.Below i have given some possible sample scenarios which i face and the third table contains the expected ouput.how to achieve this in T-SQL query.
create table dbo.#Status( ID varchar(50), Status varchar(50), EffectiveStartDate datetime, EffectiveEndDate datetime, Is_Current bit
How can I create a Table whose one field will be 'tableid INT IDENTITY(1,1)' and other fields will be the fields from the table "ashu". can this be possible in SQL Server without explicitly writing the"ashu" table's fields name.
how to update a SQL 2012 DB that is hosted off-site with a SQL DB that is running locally. This is a situation where the updates are one-way, local to remote.

I am trying to execute multiple file actions (plus parsing those files into a set of staging tables) at separate locations in parallel. I know I can do this in C# but I have a business requirement to use SSIS for all ETL operations.
Any one site can have 0 to many of 1 to 3 files. I would like to run multiple sites at the same time, so when all files of all types are completed at that site then go on to the next site in the list. I know I can do a single site at a time in a foreach loop but if I can run lets say 3-5 sites concurrently then I should be able to save execution time.
My thought is to have a recordset of the sites, when any 1 of the 3 (or more) "control flows" is open, update the recordset to let it know that site being actioned, when that site is complete, update the recordset that the site is completed, and so on.Or am I running in the wrong direction?
CREATE TABLE EDI_data_proc_log( ID int IDENTITY(1,1), comment VARCHAR(3000), time_recorded DATETIME DEFAULT GETDATE(), run_by varchar(100), duration int );
When a record is inserted I like the duration column to be computed. This should happen only after the first record to the table has gotten inserted. You might say a trigger would be the best.. Ok then, show me the syntax.
Or I am thinking can we write a user defined function that will compute the value for the duration column.
--By default, I would like to update the duration column as follows:
--It should record the number of seconds between the last insertion ( You can get that time from the time_recorded column from the previous record and the current time can be obtained from the getdate() function )
I have a SSIS package that simply moves data from a SQL database A to another SQL database B. I have update (increased) the size of a nvarchar column, on both A and B.I am wondering if there is a way to "refresh" somehow the SSIS package so I don't have to rebuild and redeploy it.The error I get now is a truncation error: "Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page".
I've built a robust looking Calendar dimension but that's easy because its all so well structured. Every date belongs to a particular week and every week belongs to a particular month and every month belongs to a particular quarter etc. January 1st is always going to be a member of week 1, month 1, quarter 1.But here's the rub, real life isn't as predictable and stable as a calendar.
Lets say you have an table containing personal information. You might have gender and marital status in there and even though they both relate to one person, they're unrelated to each other so how do you put those in a hierarchy? Which one goes first and which second because you can get combinations of either.
I am executing a stored procedure in one database (Database1) that pulls data from another database (Database2) that is the back end for a third party application. Some of the fields in that other database are now encrypted. I need to decrypt those fields but since the query is running in a database other than where the data lives (which is also where the symmetric key + cert lives), I am getting the following error: "Cannot find the symmetric key" Below is an example of what I am running in the stored procedure:
OPEN SYMMETRIC KEY [XXXXKey] DECRYPTION BY CERTIFICATE [XXXX_CERT]; select CONVERT(Varchar(50), DECRYPTBYKEY( <ENCRYPTED FIELD> )) FROM Database2.dbo.TABLE1 CLOSE SYMMETRIC KEY [XXXXKey];
What do I need to add to Database1 so the stored procedure can decrypt the data it pulls from Database2?
I have a table with raw scientific test results in a single field, some of which are over 25Mb field. I need to parse into the field to find and aggregate selected values from the field.
Table structure is CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Gxxx_Data]( [id] [uniqueidentifier] NOT NULL, [Status] [nvarchar](50) NULL, [GxxxItem_ID] [int] NULL, [Stats_Data] [varbinary](max) NULL, ) ON [PRIMARY] TEXTIMAGE_ON [PRIMARY]
[code]...
From which I need to parse and summarize the (Assembler) opcodes (MOV,CMPi, SHR etc...)I need to parse the large field [Stats_Data] to locate the target data. The internal result strings are delimited with Char(10), conservative counts are from 64k to over 100k lines in each record. Is there a way to parse the individual lines into another table (temp) that would be queried/regexed ?
