SQL Server Admin 2014 :: Installation With Reporting Services - Native Errors
Jul 19, 2015
When I try to install sql server 2014 on my machine, all the features were installed but except Reporting services-Native and error occurred as shown below.
Error details:
§ Error installing SQL Server Reporting Services
Updating permission setting for folder 'C:WindowsTemp' failed. The folder permission setting were supposed to be set to 'DA;OICI;0x1200af;;;S-1-5-80-4063824523-3130906261-2263067808-2545249320-213050741)'.
Error code: 0x84CF0003
I have a SQL server box running 2014 reporting services. I have another server running IIS v8.
I would like to be able to connect to the IIS site and be given the SSRS report browser.
So externally if I browse to [URL], I am presented with the report server interface, the same as if I browse to http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/reports internally.
I've got reporting services on a different box from the database and I can see all the reports, but when I try to setup a subscription, I get this weird error:
The SQL Agent service is not running. This operation requires the SQL Agent service. (rsSchedulerNotResponding)
The same error happens when I connect to the database server via management studio and try to run a job.
I've migrated a server with SQL Server 2008R2 and Reporting services into a new box with SQL Server 2014, but forgot to change the timezone to the correct one. I've changed it later, but it seems like the reports are running by the old default timezone. The schedule says that the report should run at 6:30am, but the Last Run column shows 8:30 PM.
I need to fix it without manually updating each subscription with some date/time conversion.
I am running into a weird issue with a new SQL Reporting Services 2014 server I built. I installed SQL Reporting 2014 on Windows Server 2012 R2 and configured Kerberos, but the site is extremely slow. After some reconfiguration and log captures I have determined the issue has to do with the Kerberos setup, however I am running a similar configuration with SQL Reporting Services 2008 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and do not run into the same errors.
The error I see while using Wireshark is KRB Error: KRB5KDC_ERR_BADOPTION NT Status: STATUS_NO_MATCH. When I drill down the into the error I can see the kerberos string is testprjmnmtreports14.company.com, which is the URL we are using to access the site. I made sure to add that name as an SPN for the service account that is running SQL Reporting Services, however I still receive the error.
Then I tried configuring the site to run without a hostheader, so I accessed the site with the server name, ECTSTSQLRS5, and the site works perfectly fine, no errors are reported either. So it seems I have isolated the issue down to Kerberos but I am not sure how to resolve it. Here is some more information about my environment:
DNS/URL used: testprjmnmtreports14.company.com Server Name (FQDN): ECTSTSQLRS5.company.int AD Domain Name: company.int Server Version: Windows Server 2012 R2 AD Functional Level: 2008 R2
As you can see I am trying to use a .com address but my AD domain is .int which I think is the issue, but I do not have the same problem on my other server that is running Windows Server 2008 R2. What do I need to do to allow my new site on 2012 R2 to work with this DNS Alias?
We have reports in SharePoint integrated mode which are really slow when compared to native mode. I have been asked to research and give info on what exactly causes the delays.
Any articles which give me information as to what happens when a report is run from SharePoint server and where does it log.
Due to a SQL 2014 cluster installation failure related to security while setting up the primary node, I had to remove the node and any related installation programs from the node and redo the installation again. However I am unable to use the machine name as the SQL network name during the instance configuration, I get the following:
Microsoft.SqlServer.Chainer.Infrastructure.InputSettingValidationException: The SQL Server failover cluster instance name "MachineName" already exists as a server on the network. Specify a different failover cluster instance name.I am still getting the same name since the node name "MachineName" is listed under the cluster name. I have used machine name as SQL network name without an issue. I do not have any existing SQL machine name in network using same machinename which I want to use for this installation.
I would like to setup replica for one of the databases for reporting. The current environment is a 2 node cluster(active/passive). I would like to add a 3rd node that can server as a secondary replica. The secondary replica will be on asynchronous commit mode.
The database that needs to have alwayson setup has column level encryption enabled.
Other Questions,
* Do I need to backup and restore the service master key on secondary server in order to have the column level encryption to work on secondary server? * What would be preferred Quorum settings? * What is the setting for 'readable secondary' for primary and replica db? * What should be the setting for 'Connections in Primary Role' for primary and replica db? * We are trying to setup without a Listner. Do I need to setup AG Listener? Can the application exclusively use the [secondary instance name].[replica DB name] without a listener?
We have a 2 node clustered instance(SQL 2014) with 26 databases and we would like to enable alwayson for one of the databases for reporting (only one secondary and do not need high availability setup). I'm thinking if the reporting application/queries can explicitly connect to the secondary database(Instance namedatabase name) without using a listener and setup the secondary in asynchronous commit mode. Read about the REDO thread blocking due to reporting workload. How does this affect if I implement the secondary in this way.
We have run into an issue on a dedicated SSAS 2012 SP1 server where the allocated memory is not being utilized, causing some slowness in use, connections, and queries.
Total Memory on the server is 512, and after startup, the utilized memory gets up to a max of 60GB and stops there. Checking the Resource Monitor, msmdsrv.exe is only taking around 39GB overall. With the current properties, that should be at 330GB. Am I missing something in the settings or in configuration that should be changed?
Version: SQL Server 2012 SP1 Enterprise (11.0.3000) OS: Windows Server 2012 Datacenter - Fully patched and up to date Databases: 2 Tabular models Server: 512GB RAM
Is it possible to have Analysis Services in both modes or are they mutually exclusive?I have a machine setup with Multidimensional AS and would like to know if it's possible to add a Service in Tabular mode.
When running the following:C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server80ToolsBinn>rsactivate -c"C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQLServerMSSQLReportingServicesReportServerRSRepo rtServer.config" -tI get the following error:Failure starting the web service:System.Exception: The local NT Service is disabled 0x80090005 --->System.Exception: 0x80090005--- End of inner exception stack trace ---atMicrosoft.ReportingServices.RSActivate.RSActivate. I have a requirement to implement CDC for 50+ tables to implement incremental data changes warehouse/reporting rather than exporting the whole table data. The largest table is having more than half a billion records.
The warehouse use a daily copy of OLTP db (daily DB refresh). How can I accomplish this. Is there a downside in implementing CDC just for the sake of taking incremental changes on the tables?
Is there any performance impact if we enable CDC on OLTP db?
Can we make use of the CDC tables on the environment we do daily db refresh so that the queries don't hit OLTP database?
What is the best way to implement CDC to take incremental changes for reporting.
I want to set up a database role so that users can use sp_readerrorlog through SSMS. It does a check on membership in the securityadmin role.
I have tested it and can see you can grant execute on xp_readerrorlog but the SSMS GUI uses sp_readerrorlog.
I thought I could create a user/certificate and add the signature to sp_readerrorlog but it's not permitted (likely because it's not a normal database object).
So the other solution is to add the users to the securityadmin role but then explicitly deny alter any login (best done with a custom server role in 2012+ but otherwise just manually in 2008). I tested this out and it works, I'm not able to alter any logins or increase my own permissions, I also did a check of what's reported from fn_my_permissions(null, null) and it shows minimal permissions like I'd expect.
Hi, I have asked this before...I didnt reach anywhere yet.I am putting this problem again infront of you guys. I have installed SQL Services Reporting Services on my Windows XP machine which has vs.net 2003 and SQL 2000 with sp3a in working condition.Unfortunately none of the Server components of the Reporting Services got installed(like Report Server,Report Manager). All the Client components(Report Designer,Report Wizard etc) got installed.I am able to design and preview the reports but I cannot publish since I dont have a Report Server.I installed the Reporting Services from the MSDN subscriber download and I have a valid SQL Server license. Any thoughts woule be deeply appreciated... Thanks
I've build a few reports in visual studio, they work and they don't work, in a minute I can run them next minute I can't and I get this errors in event viewer every time they can't be run:
Report Server (MSSQLSERVER) cannot load the SQLPDW extension.
Report Server (MSSQLSERVER) cannot load the TERADATA extension.
Setup: Windows server 2003 SP1, SQL 2005 SP2, Sharepoint Office server 2007, Report Services addin (CTP v9.00.3027).
Using the Report server configuration tool, setting Report Server Virtual directory, end up with RS Configuration tool crashing.
It appears to be happening on the task "Changing Secure connection level", & returns "System.NullReferenceException was unhandled Message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
I have been through virtually every last posting on installing SQL Server Express with Advanced Services in this site and still have no success accessing the Reporting Services site: http://localhost.reports$sqlexpress. I get a the correct background to the site as in the tutorials, but only get "ERROR - unable to connect to the remote server", which may be indicative because this is all installed on my local machine (Dell AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4000+ 2.11 Ghz, 1GB, Windows Ultimate). I have gone through How to install ... on a Windows Vista-based computer, KB934164, and most recently, How to configure .. to allow remote connections, kb 914277, in hopes of addressing the "remote server" issue. I still can't get past this obstacle. PLEASE HELP!! :-)
Our DBA has installed reporting services on a server and now in order to access the report manager, one has to be an Admin on that Server. I am guessing that there is a mistake in the configuration of Reporting Services. Usually it should allow anybody who was added to the roles in the properties section of the Report Manager, right? I have also added the users to the DB..
Also I am using Windows Authentication to access Report Catalog items (Reporting Services is installed on Server2) from a web Application(deployed on Server1) and displaying the report using report viewer. For some reason, server1 has to be in an Admin role on Server2 to access the report catalog/report. This is kinda strange for me as I don't want everybody to be an Admin on Server2. Can anybody please point in the right direction?
We want to create interactive dashboards using SSRS 2008 R2. We currently has Report Server installed in Native mode. I see that we can build some good dashboards using SSRS, SharePoint 2010 and PerformancePoint. But I wanted to find out if we can build that level of dashboard using just SSRS. We are still convincing the management for getting SharePoint license. In case if they don't agree for the Sharepoint license, can we build some good dashboards just using SSRS?
I have an issue with Reporting Services that I have been unable to fix or find any answers to. I hope you guys can help. I have a list of 10 reports that run during the period of 1-4 each morning. They are scheduled to run on each database at a different time (5 databases in all). So there should be 50 reports at the end of the night. I wrote a report that looks for the last status of a report that shows that it wasn€™t successful. The only thing it tells me is this:
Failure writing file ABC Production Report: An error has occurred during report processing.
When there is a login error then I get that message so I know it isn€™t that. Also reports can error out one night and then work the next night. When I look at the time that the error status was written I see that it took 4 seconds from run time.
Does anyone have a clue what this means or better yet how I can get all of these reports to work consistently?
I downloaded and installed SQL Server 2005 SP2 update on my reporting services server. I think downloaded and installed the share point reporting services admin to my share point dev server. I open up the central administration and there is no reporting services menu option under the Application menu. The sharepoint server is a farm with backend database on one server and all the web apps on the other (where the add-in was installed). The reporting server is a separate server running its own instance of SQL 2005.
I feel I've completed the installation of 2005 Reporting Services with a remove database following these notes ... http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143703.aspx
... now I want to confirm its working. There is a link in the notes to "Verify a Report Services Installation" ...
When I install reporting services in sqlserver 2005,its stops half way saying ' sqlserver setup failed to obtain system account information for the ASPNET account. To proceed re install the .NET framework and continue'
How do I set up an ASP account so as to continue with the installation?
I have SQL server 2005 which has some kind of different options as normal SQL installation and there is no any option for reporting services. I do full installation and have everything I need : BIDS, reporting config tool etc, but there is no reporting service available. So I get error when try to run reporting services configuration tool. Error claims that it can't find any reporting services on my machine. I have looked at services list in my PC and there is no reporting services. So my question is how to install reporting services as stand alone ?
I set up Reporting Services about 9 months ago when I installed Microsoft CRM 3 (Dynamics?), but these problems have only just started occurring. Lost count of how many hours have been wasted looking for answers!
Apologies if this rambles on like a cheap book but i don't want to miss out any of the detail..
CRM stops working within an hour of IIS starting up, but if somebody logs in to CRM before it goes down then it's fine for the rest of the day. However the next day it's back to square one. Looking through Event logs it seems to be caused by SQL Reporting Server, because;
Report Server errors show it starting up after IIS, but within an hour throws up "Exception: System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException - Message: Unable to find assembly 'Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics". It's at this point that IIS stops responding altogether, hence CRM stops working.
Running iisreset from the command line makes IIS work again, but this becomes a pain in the backside running it every morning before my colleagues get in. I have set up a schedule to run it for me, which works, but as i said if nobody logs in within the hour (which does happen at least once a week), then CRM won't work until i manually run iisreset again.
Also Reporting Services Configuration Manager does not start properly, so i can't even go through that to see if it's a config problem - when launching it i get an alert box with "An unknown error has occurred in the WMI Provider. Error Code 800706B3". That's with the default server name already in the box, but no matter what server name or IP I try to get it to connect to, it just will not have it. Also that error code seems to be unique to me, since not one webpage exists with the same code.
Other things i've gone through;
- SQL Server Configuration Manager shows everything Running, including Report Server - SQL Management Studio shows all CRM & Reporting Services databases exist and are online.
- The Report Server error log shows this: "w3wp!library!1!29/03/2008-12:34:00:: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ReportServerServiceUnavailableException: The Report Server Windows service 'ReportServer' is not running. The service must be running to use Report Server."
- http://localhost/ works fine. - http://localhost/Reports/ shows up a .Net error page with Security Exception error: "The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy". - http://localhost/ReportServer/ shows up a page with "localhost/ReportServer - / ---- Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 8.00.1038.00" which i assume is lacking correct content.
- When CRM was configured the setup wizard moaned that it could not use the existing Reporting Services database or IIS directories, so for that purpose there are two more virtual directories in IIS.. - https://localhost/ReportsSQL/ shows up an error: "Unable to connect to the remote server" - https://localhost/ReportServerSQL/ shows up an error: "Reporting Services Error - The Report Server Windows service 'ReportServer' is not running. The service must be running to use Report Server. (rsReportServerServiceUnavailable)"
- While trying everything i am logged in as server admin - Software specs: Windows 2003 Small Business Server (SP2), SQL Server Standard 2005 (9.0.3054 / SP2), all patches from Microsoft Update (not just Windows Update) have been applied.
If you managed to read this far then thank you.. I'm nearly bald with frustration so if someone could please suggest things worth looking into or trying, that would be very much appreciated.
I've just tried to install SQL Reporting services on my development workstation.
I was going well but suddenly I got an error that my SQL server instance is not supported. I am running SQL Server 2000 desktop edition, service pack 3.0.
Is that true that is is not supported or it is just a bug in installation ?
I have this situation in my current project. I’m trying to install SQL Reporting services on two machines: the web part on a web server, the databases on a SQL Server. The ASP.NET process is running under a custom account that I created, let's say, 'MyAccountASPNET' . I'm using this account to connect to the SQL server. I already have a web application that is using this configuration to connect to SQL. Now, during the SQL reporting services installation, at the end of the installation, while running the scripts to create the databases, I'm getting this message: 'The account 'MyAccountASPNET' is not a valid domain name <domain/username>. Please use the correct name.' How am I suppose to use <domain/username> , while the two servers are not in a domain, on each of them I have a user 'MyAccountASPNET' with the same password, but of course the users are 'WebserverMyAccountASPNET' and 'SQLServerMyAccountASPNET'. Any idea how to solve this problem? Thanks
Here's the situation: * I had an older beta (beta 1) of RS installed on a machine at an earlier time. * Someone manually deleted the RS files on the machine as opposed to a add/remove programs operation. * I installed the RTM Reporing Services on the machine. * I try to author a report and get the following message:
'The located assembly's manifest definition with name 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Shell.Interop' does not match the assembly reference.'
I have removed VS 2003 and Reporting Services, and re-installed them numerous times, but still keep getting the same error message when I try to author a report.
