Error 1053 - The Service Did Not Respond To The Start Or Control Request In A Timely Fashion

Aug 6, 2015

"Windows could not start the SQL Server (RETAIL) service on local computer."

"Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

I am trying to start my SQL Server service and I get the above error. I am using Windows 7 32 bit. SQL 2008 R2 32bit. SQL has ran successfully for 2 years on this machine until a power outage the other night. Now I have this happening on two computers.

I have read every event viewer message up and down and searched Google for hours trying to find a solution. I have done so many things from changing dll's to reinstalling sql 2008 to trying sql 2012.

I uninstalled SQL2008 and installed SQL2012 and it had the exact same error message. It wont start that one process. I have read this forum and I see many instances of this issue being reported but none of them have been recent. I attempted to do everything the previous posts said to try and nothing has worked. I have tried to roll back using windows restore point, I have tried to change the servicespipetimeline registry edit in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControl. I have changed permissions.

What Task Can I Use To Stop My Control Flow Process From Running

Apr 24, 2007

Hi

What SSIS Task or process can i use to stop my Control Flow Process from running?

I created a SQL Task to do a count on a table to see if there is data, if the count is > 0 then the Control Flow task must continue, else it uses a RAISERROR statement which i use with the event handler, but i want to put something in the event handler to stop the process then and not continue?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Reporting Services :: Request Failed With HTTP Status 401 - Unauthorized (ReportViewer Control)

Mar 12, 2013

We are using SharePoint 2010 integrated with Reporting Services 2008 R2. We have successfully configured RS and we are able to create RDL reports using Report Builder from the SharePoint site.

However we are getting following error message when we host same RDL report using Report Viewer control in an application page i.e. ASPX page:

<ERROR>The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized</ERROR>

We can fix this issue by setting:

1) setting impersonation to false in web.config file:

<identity impersonate="false" />

2) Setting Report server URL to _vti_bin path:

rptViewer.ServerReport.ReportServerUrl = new Uri("http://sharepointserver:1000/_vti_bin/reportserver");

If we turn impersonation to true we get the same error. Other project module requires impersonation to be enabled. Hence we cannot proceed further with this work around/fix.

SQL Server Service Manager With Instance Name

Aug 3, 2004

I installed MSDE2000 with named instance on top of MSDE 7.0 and rebooted the system. The “SQL Server Service Manager” comes up with default server( MSDE7.0).

But I need “SQL Server Service Manager” has to come up with new instance name and the new server automatically after reboot.

I didn’t see any problem in connecting to instance name if I choose it from the server list. But user wants to see the server with instance name by default when system restarts. Do you have any idea about this?

Thank you,

Problems Running Enterprise Manager And Service Manager

Jul 20, 2005

On one of our machines, all of the SQL Server 2000components except for the main Server component (SQL Servercore) itself were installed (Management tools, etc) a while agoand everything was running fine. Now I go and add/install theServer component and then Service Pack 3a.It seems that Service Manager won't start up (I get an hourglass cursor)and now I find that Enterprise Manager won't run as well. No errormessages appeared and I don't think I saw anything unusual inthe log file. However, I can use Enterprise Manager on a differentmachine and connect to the database (so the databaseitself seems to be running).Any suggestions as to what the problem might be and how tofix it? I like to see if I can repair this without havingto do a reinstall.Thanks.PF

Is SQL Server Service Manager Still Existing On SQL Express Edition?

Jun 5, 2006

Hi there. I am new to the SQL Express. I just finished installing the SQL Express 2005 with Advanced Services on a Windows XP SP2 computer. The first thing I noticed was the service manager (used to be on the taskbar) was being removed on the Express Edition. How do I get this feature back if it's even possible? I know you can find out the server status from the Configuration Manager but it's handy if the status is showned on the taskbar after logging in.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

SQLBrowser: Service Was Unable To Process A Client Request.

Hi, I have a Active/Active SQL 2005 Cluster, and I've seen this recurring message in the Event Log.

Source: SQLBrowser
Category: None
Type: Error
User: N/A
EventID: 8
Message: The SQLBrowser service was unable to process a client request.

I don't know if it's something to worry about, since I haven't had anyone call in an issue.

I have set the default and named instances to specific ports, no dynamic ports here.

There's nothing in the instances' error logs.

Service Stop/start/restart Questions 2005 SP2

Oct 15, 2007

A few service stop/start/restart questions on SQL Server 2005 SP2, whichI'll call SQLS.It looks as if there are *potentially* 6 ways to start/stop SQLSServices like the engine itself, integration services, reportingservice, Agent..-SQLS Configuration Manager-SQLS Surface Area Configuration (for Services and Connections)-Mgmt Studio Local (on server)-Mgmt Studio Remote (on client)-Windows Control Panel->Admin Tools->Services-Command Prompt (ala net start MSSQLSERVER)By policy, I am /not/ Administrator on the server. But I am SysAdminrole in SQLS. I have had various levels of success starting/stoppingservices in the ways listed above. In some I get Access denied, and inothers I get no msg and it simply doesn't work.Is there some special non-Admin OS group I need to be in to start/stopservices? Is this handled differently in the different interfaceslisted above? It seems like my best success for starting/stopping the engine and Agentis in /local/ Mgmt Studio, but /not/ remote Mgmt Studio - the optionsare greyed out on a remote client. Is this by design? Is it a SQLSbug?I'm sure I'm not the only SQLS DBA who does not have Admin rights on hisserver who wants to start/stop services. Generally speaking, how isthis intended to work?Any help appreciated.Allen JantzenA freshly minted DQLS DBA

SQL 2012 :: System Cannot Contact A Domain Controller To Service Authentication Request

Whenever I attempt to specify a network location I receive the following error: Operating System Error 1265(The system cannot contact a domain controller to service the authentication request..).

I looked up this error and most sites point towards a Windows 8 homegroup issue. Since this is a on a domain, I don't think it is relevant. I also added the service accounts from server A to Server B and visa versa. I even added the computer objects to its opposite partner..I have attempted to use "Join Only" and do a manual copy.

At one location that was recently upgraded from 6.5 to 7.0 we have a problem with the user connections to SQL Server not terminating when the user terminates the application. At some point, after several days, they are forced to bounce the server to eliminate the errant connections becasue SQL Server tells them they have the maximum number of connections. This only happens at one site and it happened under 6.5 as well. At all other sites, the connections terminate when the application terminates. Any ideas????

HELP: SQL Server Is Terminating Because Of Fatal Exception C0000005

Feb 28, 2008

Hi,

We're using SQL Server 2005 SP2, and got an error message of:

SQL Server is terminating because of fatal exception c0000005. This error may be caused by an unhandled Win32 or C++ exception, or by an access violation encountered during exception handling. Check the SQL error log for any related stack dumps or messages. This exception forces SQL Server to shutdown. To recover from this error, restart the server (unless SQLAgent is configured to auto restart).

Does anyone know what is the cause of this error and how to fix it.

Thanks in advance, Maxim

Reporting Service And Source Control

Aug 30, 2007

Hi

We have encountered a problem using source control with reporting services. Im writing this post to find out whether we are doing something wrong, or reporting service just don't store everything in source control.

My problem is as follows.
My collegue creates a report with a dataset and this report contains several parameters. He tests this, deploys it, and checks it into the source control through Visual Studio.
The following day I get responsibility to alter something in this report. I checks out everything from source control, starts Visual Studio. But... A few important things are missing. The credentials for the dataset for once (this is a minor issue) since these might not should be stored in source control anyways. What is worse is that all the parameter settings are missing. What was entered was a query to a stored procedure where e.g 5 parameters in the report was mapped to parameters in the stored procedure. Now the query has been changed to text type, and the parameter mapping is missing.

This does make it impossible to cooperate on creating reports. If I now make a change in the parameter configuration, my collegue won't receive this when synchronizing source control, and the risk of deploying something incorrect is too high.

Can anyone help enlighten us. Are we doing something wrong? Is there some manual step that needs to be done to ensure that everything is stored in source control? Or is it just something we have to live with, not being able to trust source control when doing Reporting Services?

Best regards
/Anders

Reporting Service Table Control - Question...is This Possible?!?

Mar 10, 2007

Hi, on my local SSRS (RDLC), I have a table which presents several
items, however these are not sequential data from a table on my DB, are
fields of only one row of a table on my DB. More specificly, I have a
table with the fields issue1, description1, issue2,
description2...until 6! I want to present those fields six times (the
same times as they appear on the DB), however, I only want them to
appear is the issuex (which is an integer) is greater than 0. So to
guarantee that each field only appears one time, I do this:

=First(Fields!issue1.Value)
to each table line

And
what I want to do on each line is IIF(Fields!issue1.Value >
0,True,False) to make that line visible or not, however, if I apply
this to a line it automatically applies it to the complete table, and
if only one of this conditions returns false the complete table becomes
invisible.

Is there anyway to make this work dynamically?!?Thanks a lot!

The Request Failed With HTTP Status 400: Bad Request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient)

Feb 23, 2008

I get this error message when I try to connect to Reporting Services via the Management Studio.

I can see my machine listed in the Server Name > Browse For More > Local Servers dialogue. But no luck,

Ive tried:

Servername: localhost
Servername: DED1774 (the machine name)
Servername: localhost/reportserver
Servername: DED1774/reportserver
Servername: http://ded1774/reportserver (from the rsreportserver.config file

<UrlRoot>http://ded1774/reportserver</UrlRoot>)

I've Googled the error message and found postings for solutions, but none of these helped. Can anyone suggest some simple steps I can take to try to find the issue and get the connection working?

Thanks
