I have a SQL 2000 sp3 installation on a Active - Active
cluster. I wanted to create a performance alert, but when
I tried, the Sql Server Performance Condition Alert choice
is missing from the drop down menu on the new alert setup screen. Does anyone know why? Any help will be greatly
appreciated.:confused:
We are trying to create some alerts in our SQL Server 2014 BI edition.Issue is that, after I chose "Type" as "SQL Server performance condition alert" nothing is listed in the "Object" list box.SQL Server event alerts are working. Issue is only with "SQL Server performance condition alert".
I am trying to setup a Performance Condition Alert and on this one SQL2000 Server the 'Type:' drop down does not give me the option to choose"SQL Server performance condition alert". "SQL Server event alert" isthe only item listed in the drop down. Is there some setting on theServer that I am missing that needs to be activated? I am connectedwith the SA account; Windows 2000 sp4; SQL 2000 sp2; SQL Litespeed(this is the only server with LiteSpeed).Thank you.
select * from sys.dm_os_performance_counters returns the object names prefixed with "SQLServer:" (e.g. SQLServer:Databases)
It was expected as in other editions also. Issue is that when we try to crate "SQLServer Performance Condition alert", object names in "Object" list comes without the prefix "SQLServer:" (e.g. Databases). Please see the attached snapshots.
I have a curious problem. I have a development environment SQL Server 6.5 sp 5a and a production environment sp 4 When I view the performance monitor in the development environment I can see the SQL Server object counter but on the production environment I can see all object except sql server objects. What could the problem be ? Add chart on the production server shows me all ojects other that SQL Server and the same is not true for development !
Recently the Agent on our production server has exhibited a condition where the agent history is missing on around 80% of our jobs. The jobs still run but no history, we have cycled the services, rebooted etc but nothing rememdies the issue.
Has anyone else ever ecountered this with SS and if so do you have a solution?
Every Employee should be in Department 2 and 3 (as example EmpID = 17 has DepID 2 and 3 from above table). But when any of the employees either exists only in any one department (as EmpID = 12 has only DepID = 2), then a new row should be added to the table for that employee with that missing DepID.
The following query performs acceptably (2 seconds against 126,000,000 rows in the main table):
SELECT Count(*)
FROM
Message1_2_3 INNER JOIN
VDMVDO ON Message1_2_3.VDMVDO_ID = VDMVDO.VDMVDO_ID INNER JOIN
NMEA ON VDMVDO.NMEA_ID = NMEA.NMEA_ID
WHERE
NMEA.NMEA_ID BETWEEN 14000000 AND 14086000 AND
VDMVDO.RepeatIndicator = 0 AND
NMEA.SentenceFormatterID = 'VDM'
When we change the first condition from an Int column to a DateTime as in:
NMEA.TimeDate BETWEEN CONVERT(DATETIME, '2007-07-09 8:30:00', 102) AND CONVERT(DATETIME, '2007-07-09 9:30:00', 102)
the query performance falls to 14 seconds, even though both columns are indexed and a similar number of rows are found. When the select clause changes from a simple Count to a complex Max expression, response time falls to over a minute!
Any thoughs on optimizing the DateTime search would be greatly appreciated...
Hi all, I have sql 2000 enterprise. From performance monitor, the sql counters are missing. During installation I've made sure that the sqlcounters are installed. The sqlctr80.dll is installed. But still the counters are not showing.
Has anybody come across this, not sure what to do next
The SQL server perfmon counters are missing from one of my MSSQL 7.0 servers - they do appear in others just fine.
Can anyone tell me what is wrong and/or how I can add the counters? I have seen archieve notes on this topic but can't access them for some reason (page appears blank when I click on link)
I am using perfmon to remotely monitor the problem server. My login has sysadmin permissions and is an NT admin. on both the server and the monitoring client. The login account for MSSQL server and SQL Agent services are both sysadmins.
I started out with trying to get to know the existing SQL Servers (6.5 and 7.0). I am missing some Performance Monitor objects (ie SQL Server: Buffer Manager, SQL Server: General Statistics, etc). I am surprised that it is missing.
A typical SQL Server setup: * NT 4 with SP6 * SQL Server 7 (standard) with SP2 * 2gig Mem * Over 50gig HD
Does any of you ever have this problem? Any solutions? Any answer would be greatly appreciated.
Im missing all SQL Server counters in the Performance Monitor
and have looked at article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/Q196/6/57.ASP&NoWebContent=1
but this article refers to SQL 7...I have 2K with SP3 and MS03-031
I am running performance monitor on a number of servers without any problems, however on one server, when I select SQL Server Log, It does not show a list of the available db's under the instances.
Other counters, say under SQL Server appear fine.
The server is running SQL 6.5 sp 4, I am running the monitor from an NT 4 Workstation, with full administrator rights on the server.
Thanks in advance for any help
(I have tried MS Tech Sup Online and can find no hits for this one)
In sql server 2014 , many performance counters are missing .I need " Buffer cache hit ratio " under "sql server :buffer manager " .Is there any way to get it back or removed form sql server2014 ?
Hi! I have just installed Microsoft OLEDB provider for DB2 on a SQL server 2005. I created a Linked server against our DB2 V.8 Z/OS database. I tested the connection via execution of a simple select call, something like:
SELECT FIELD_A FROM DB2SRV.DB2DB.CREATOR_A.TABLE_A WHERE FIELD_A='ABC'
I traced the call on the DB2 site. The SQL running on DB2 site was to my surprise without the €œwhere clause€?:
SELECT FIELD_A FROM DB2DB.CREATOR_A.TABLE_A
So, all rows are moved to SQL server before the where clause is executed, resulting in bad performance. The index on FIELD_A is not used and so on €¦ !
If anyone out there has an idea of what could be wrong, please let me know!
NB. I know that by using OPENQUERY pass-through query, all execution is done on the DB2 site.
Can you use the below query to get CPU high utilisation alert purposes for both named and default instance? or, do I need to make any changes here (@wmi_namespace=N'.ROOTCIMV2' ) ?
USE [msdb] GO EXEC msdb.dbo.sp_add_alert @name=N'CPU_WM_Utilization_Check', @message_id=0, @severity=0,
I'm having a problem... maybe it's very simple, but with soo many work, right now I can't think well...
I need to filter rows in a dataflow...
I created a condition spli to that... maybe there is a better solution...
And the condition is: Datex != NULL(DT_DATE)
(Some DATE != NULL)
[Eliminar Datex NULL [17090]] Error: The expression "Datex != NULL(DT_DATE)" on "output "Case 1" (17123)" evaluated to NULL, but the "component "Eliminar Datex NULL" (17090)" requires a Boolean results. Modify the error row disposition on the output to treat this result as False (Ignore Failure) or to redirect this row to the error output (Redirect Row). The expression results must be Boolean for a Conditional Split. A NULL expression result is an error.
I am trying to write an visibility function to have message shown based on two different IIF conditions:
If behavior is to Add a customer ( if message =NAME ALREADY EXISTS, return " NAME ALREADY EXISTS",   otherwize return " NAME CREATED")If behavior is to Delete a customer (( if message =NAME DOES NOT EXIST, return "NAME DOES NOT EXIST",   otherwize return "NAME SUCCESSFULLY DELETED") I tried the following which doesn't work: =IIF((UCase(First(Fields!Message.Value, "DataSetName")) = "NAME ALREADY EXISTS"), "WARNING: NAME ALREADY EXIST", "NAME CREATED"), IIF((UCase(First(Fields!Message.Value, "DataSetName")) = " NAME DOES NOT EXIST"), "WARNING: NAME DOES NOT EXIST", " NAME DELETED")
I have a server where I have been getting "SQL Alert Sev 24 : Fatal Error : Hardware Failure" for the past week.
Occurence : We disconnected the workstation (which we are using as SQL Server) from one floor and connected it to another floor. No Configurations changed. No hardware failures reported so far on the win 2000 box.
We are very well able to do the SQL development on that box. Everything seems normal except I get this error sent atleast once a day in the morning.

We recently had a problem with DB Mail. SQL jobs that sends an email succeeded but the email in the job fail to sent. There was a problem with the email server. The error is included. We fixed the problem with the email server. How can I get an alert when a DB Mail email fails send?

Message The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 1 (2015-04-23T10:01:06). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. How do I configure the database so that it will send an alert to all users who are logged in and using SQL*Server, when I need them all to get out of the database ??? Or, what do I need to look up in the documentation ??? I have looked under SQL*Mail, but that doesn't look like it will work for what I am trying to do. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nancy
It seems that in order to get an email alert from SQL Server 2000 I need Microsoft Outlook orMicrosoft Exchange client installed. Is there any other way to get an email alert (not net send) when a back up is finished? for example using a @hotmail.com account?
I am trying to create an alert when there are more than 2500 connections to our ailing SQL Server.However, for now, I need to restart the SQL server service because users begin complaining they can't connect.
1) I created an operator - me.
2) I created a job which runs a query.
INSERT INTO Sessions_alert SELECT host_name, program_name, login_name, count(c.session_id ) num_sessions, getdate() FROM sys.dm_exec_connections c JOIN sys.dm_exec_sessions s on c.session_id = s.session_id GROUP BY host_name,program_name,login_name ORDER BY 4 DESC
3) I created an alert - included the job from above. Type performance condition alert. Object - SQL Server General Statistics. Counter - User connections.Alert if counter rises above 50. Just testing. I really want to know when it gets past 2500.
4) I've set the alert to email and delay is between responses 2 minutes.
It history tables says number of occurences is 18964. However, I don't receive an email.
Shouldn't the alert send an email? Do I need to include email code in the job?
I have a simple SSIS package that imports an Excel Spreadsheet into a table. The column heading got changed, so the package failed, as expected, but I would like an alert or some way to make the scheduled job show "failed". I tried putting an event handler on the :Data Flow" step to send an email, but it didn't work.
I would like to figure out the event handler problem, but more important to have the job show as failed.
For some reason the Scheduled job shows "success" even though the SSIS package failed. A better solution is to make the scheduled job itself fail, based on the package failing.
I've noticed that the 14150 event is no longer showing up in the Application Log. The 14151 event does. We tried modifying the alert: sp_altermessage 14150, 'WITH_LOG', 'true';
But this of course doesn't work on messages under 50000. We utilized this alert in SQL 2000 to send emails upon the success of a merge replication. Any idea how to get this to work? Is there a workaround or did MS drop the ball on this event? If they dropped it - sure wish they would let us know and also remove the ability to setup the alert for it...
Same SQL Server DB engine (2012), connected with two different clients (2008 and 2012). When I check objects for performance condition alert, 2008 client shows the objects name with leading "SQL Server".But 2012 client displays just the object name and NOT prefixed with "SQL Server".we have automated alerts creation, so it fails depends on the client version.
