Feb 21, 2005i had installed Sqlserver on drive E: before but i changed the drive letter to D: yesterday and now i can't start my sql server. how can i fix this problem?

Rename S to G, T to H and U to W. Reboot the servers. The original G, H and W will then be X, Y and Z. The old S will be the new G, old T will be H and old U will be W. My question is that after doing this whether my SQL server will start or not

I took a backup of master,model and msdb database which was on D: drive and i tried restore it on C:. Now if i try to start sql server it comes out with a erorr that model database cannot be found and it keeps looking for model in D: drive which is not there.I tried restore of model with move option but it says cannot drop model as its system database.I tried attach detach but it does not understand tempdb as temp db is also on d: and i cannot understand how to move or point it to c:

May 8, 2008I have a Windows Internal Database (installed by SharePoint WSS 3.0) and SQL Server Management Studio Express installed on W2K3 Std server. The server has local hard disk drive C, E, F & G. However SQL Server Management Studio Express only recognize C and E drive, for example in the set default database location or in attach database file dialog window only C & E drive are available. Anyone knows why and how to fix the problem?

SQL job doesn't start nor write on the view history. I have comfirm this by creating a new job with query and run it manually or schedule automatic run.

It points to database master and using the same account sql server agent uses it to start. This account has sys admi rights. I have check for blocking but thre is not.

SQLEXPRESS Doesn't Start Automatically
Oct 17, 2006I am a beginner with regard to SQL Server, having previously used Access 2000 databases in my programs.
Recently I installed VB 2005 Express and SQL Server 2005 Express on both my desktop computer and my laptop and have been working at migrating one of my earlier programs, written in VB6 /Access 2000, to VB Express 2005.net/SQL Server 2005.net.
Whilst my desktop version works well, I found that, for some unknown reason, SQLEXPRESS refuses to start automatically on my laptop, despite the fact that it is set that way. (It will start if I open the Configuration Manager and start it from there.) Since the configuration settings on my laptop are the same as those that work on my desktop, I cannot understand why the laptop version doesn't work.
Has anyone any ideas?

FireError Doesn't Work When I Use Start W/o Debug
Mar 14, 2007My custom data component is an error handler that processes data and then calls
ComponentMetaData.FireError in ProcessInput() to send the error data to the event handler per row. Everything works fine during debug/release mode. However when I run it using "Start without Debug" no errors are thrown. My event handler still catches stock component errors, so something must be wrong in this custom component. Am I suppose to set a property or something?

Cannot Start After Changing Password

I am using Administrator to log in the WinNT and I have just changed the password
of the Administrator. After that, I discover that I cannot use all function in the sql server.
Althougt the server is still running, I cannot open the database, login the security manager.
I have checked that the SQL Executive in NT service is assigned to local system account.
As you know, there is no place for inputting password. Where can I change the password
in order to let the function of sql server run again?

SAC Command Line Utility Doesn't Start SQLBrowser Service
Feb 16, 2007I've exported surface area configuration settings from a server and tried importing them onto another server. The remote connection settings are imported but the SQLBrowser service remains Disabled. Am I doing something wrong?

Can't (re)start SQLServerAgent After Changing Its Logon Credentials
May 30, 2007Since Copy Databas Wizard failed to copy anything from remote SS20005 (both are with SP2 3054) in any combination,
I changed SQLServerAgent(myinstance_name) to run under Network from Local System with the help of SQL Server Configuration Manager
For this change it was restarted, failed to start again and continues to be stopped giving
"SQLServerAgent could not be started (reason: Unable to connect to server '<mymachine_name><myinstance_name>'; SQLServerAgent cannot start)."
I changed SQL Server Agent (myinstance_name) back to Local Service, then to Local System and still can't start it.
So, my questions:
1)
What has happened and how can I start SQLServerAgent?
2)
Why cannot I start it under Network Service? since it apparently should access remote resources for CDW to copy from remote SS2005
This is on MS Windows XP SP2

After few trials I amnaged to restart it again under Local System but still cannot change to any different one

Slowly Changing Dimension Wizard Doesn't Display Destination Table Primary Key Column
Feb 22, 2006I have added a Slowly Changing Dimension transformation to an SSIS package and have launched the Wizard to edit it. After selecting the source (a SQL Server 2005 instance), if I select a very large table (9+ million rows), I'm encountering two strange behaviors:
1. The wizard hangs for several minutes before displaying the columns from that table.
2. The wizard does not display the primary key column. This, of course, is the column I want to designate as the "business key", but can't because it's not displayed.
I know this is more like a fact table than a dimension, but this is not a data warehouse. This is just a very large table, and I need to update a field in certain records based on the contents of a source text file. Is there another transformation I should use to perform updates?
Moving A SQL Server 2000 Database From A Local Drive To Another Local Drive
Jan 31, 2008Being a very novice SQL Server administrator, I need to ask the experts a question.
How do I go about moving a database from 1 drive to another? The source drive (C is local to the server, but the target drive (E is on a Storage Area Network (SAN), although it is still a local drive for the server. I want to move the database from C: to E:. Can someone provide me with instructions?

Changing Code Page Property Using Property Expression Doesn't Work
Jun 16, 2006I am having problems exporting data into a flat file using specific code page. My application has a variable "User::CodePage" that stores code page value (936, 950, 1252, etc) based on the data source. This variable is assigned to the CodePage property of desitnation file connection using Property expression.
But, when I execute the package, the CodePage property of the Destination file connection defaults to the initial value that was set for "User:CodePage" variable in design mode. I checked the value within the variable during runtime and it changes correctly for each data source. But, the property of the destinatin file connection doesn't change and results in an error.
[Flat File Destination [473]] Error: Data conversion failed. The data conversion for column "Column01" returned status value 4 and status text "Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page.".
[DTS.Pipeline] Error: The ProcessInput method on component "Flat File Destination" (473) failed with error code 0xC02020A0. The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running.
If I manually update the variable with correct code page and re-run the ETL, everything works fine. Just that it doesn't work during run-time mode.
Can someone please help me resolve this.

How To Store Resume And Cover Letter Into SQL Server?

I am trying to create an asp.net web recruiting application for HR, which will give the users the ability to both copy/paste the Resume and cover letter in textbox and upload resume and cover letter, then submit it (which will be saved into SQL Server 2000 table).
I am thinking to save Resume and cover_letter as Image data type columns in SQL Server.
. Can someone give me a direction about how to save the uploaded resume and cover letter to table and if it's the easiest way to do it?
. What to deal with different formats of uploaded resumes? I hope to limit to only Word or HTML
. Since I also give user another option - copy/paste the resume and coverletter into a textboxes. Can I simply save the copy/paste resume and cover letter into text field column? Later, say, if any HR recruiter retrieve the text from database, will it concatonates everything together without line break?

When Submitting Form, SQL Server Fields Only Show The First Letter
Nov 30, 2005Hi, I'm new around here and am stumped. I have created a form where I submit the information into a SQL Server 2000 table. When I submit the information through the form, only the first character of each field populates inside of the SQL table. This happens for every field except for two, zip and comments. The zip field is numeric and the comments field is text. All the other fields are varchar fields; and these are the fields with the problems. I have attempted to change the data type to text, but that did not work either. I am doing this through a stored procedure I created. Here is the asp code:

I have been trying to use openrowset with a shared drive, and even though the share has "full control" permissions granted to "everyone" and the accout that SQL runs under has been granted explicit full control permissions I am unable to open the file which itself has no security on it.
Can I not use a \ path and only use mapped drives?

How To Move A Log File From 'e' Drive To 'f' Drive....
Nov 9, 2000I am trying to move a log file from one drive to another.
What I have done is add another file to my file group. So now my log has a file on the 'e' drive and one on the 'f' drive. I now want to remove the file on the 'e' drive. I have emptied the file on the 'e' drive. When doing the command:
ALTER DATABASE Uniprodruntime
REMOVE FILE m_rk_runtime_log
I get the following error message..
Server: Msg 5020, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The primary data or log file cannot be removed from a database.
I have also gone into enterprise manager and tried to delete the file and it does nothing.
Has anyone run into this?

And if I have no terms that start with Q, Q is not returned.
Lastly, if I have a term like " 'Walking' Pneumonia", it should recognize that the term starts with a W.
