I have a 2005 server that is upgraded to SP2 and the error log indicates it is version 9.00.3042.00. However, the system resource database for the same server is reporting as version 9.00.2047.00. From another post I have found out the some replication problems I am having are due to this discrepancy.
I have reapplied SP2 hoping it would change the resource db version, but it did not. Is there another way I can upgrade the resource db without re-installing SQL from scratch?
Hi All,Can anyone explain me, why we have Resource and Distribution SystemDatabase in SQL Server 2005. Whether they were also available inprevious versions also. Thanks in Advance.Regards,Om
Hi, I am using OPENROWSET command to read from a dbf file in Transact-SQL of SQL Server 2005. Query runs fine for a few tries after that i get the error: OLE DB provider 'MSDASQL' reported an error. [OLE/DB provider returned message: [Microsoft][ODBC Text Driver] System resource exceeded.]
If a restart the Server everything works fine, but then the problem starts again. I saw a related postinf with no acceptable answer, unfortunately.
I have a page that was working but now I am getting the following errors. Server Error in '/' Application.

My Integrity job started failing recently with the following error. Msg 701, Level 17, State 123, Line 1 There is insufficient system memory in resource pool 'default' to run this query. Process Exit Code 1. The step failed.

I am using SQL 2000 (Standard Edition, SP4) and have created a linked server to access a Access MDB file. When I run a simple query against that server, I get the error:
Server: Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 OLE DB provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' reported an error. [OLE/DB provider returned message: System resource exceeded.] OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' ICommandText::Execute returned 0x80004005: ].
I am able to connect to this same Access MDB file from another SQL server (SQL 2000 Enterprise Edition, SP4). I have compared the two servers and they both have the same version of MDAC (2.8) and the same version of the Jet OLE DB Provider.
Any idea why this would work from one server and not from the other. Also, I was able to perform the same queries from the first server a week back.
I have a 400MB Excel file that I consume from another automated process (don't ask). I copy this file down locally to my server, and I am attempting to create an SSIS package that points to this file via a connection manager. My computer starts gobbling up massive amounts of memory (devenv.exe gets up to about 800MB or so, then drops back down to 100MB) even when I attempt to rename the connection in the connection managers tab.
I have set all BypassPrepare to TRUE and ValidateExternalMetadata properties to FALSE, and still it can take up to 3 to 6 minutes for BI Dev Studio to respond. My specs:
Intel Centrino Duo 2.00 GHz 2GB RAM XP Pro SP2
There MUST be a way for me to work effectively on a file of this size. Please help! Thanks much for any assistance.

Hi, I am going through the BOL for Sql Server 2005 and i came across the topic of RESOURCE DATABASE. But when i checked in the system databases in the object explorer there was no resource database can anybody tell me where can i find the resource database
Is it possible to deploy SQL Server CE "baked into" a DLL? For example, instead of setting the build option to "Content", can I set it to "Embedded Resource"?
Copy mssqlsystemresource.mdf of a recently upgraded server and paste to an old server have same effect of upgrading via .exe installation?
My idea is to save time and administrative efforts in upgrades (Service Packs and/or Cumulative Updates) using this method.
According to BOL:
The Resource database makes upgrading to a new version of SQL Server an easier and faster procedure. In earlier versions of SQL Server, upgrading required dropping and creating system objects. Because the Resource database file contains all system objects, an upgrade is now accomplished simply by copying the single Resource database file to the local server.
While attempting to set up sql replication in MSSQL 2005 one of my user databases is now in the systems database folder. I need to move it back to the user databases folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In Oracle & Sybase you can set login resource limits to restrict, time of day, number of i-o's, cpu use etc for any login, at the login method. All actions done from a resource limit constrained login inherit the constraints.
Is there any way to implment this with any MS SQL Server version from 200-2005/SP2?
Before anyone answers, please do not suggest set rowcount etc. thanks.
I have a deadlock chain that shows 9 parallel insert jobs into the same table. The resource that is locked (with an exclusive lock) shows a HOBT_ID...which corresponds to a clustered index.
My question is how would INSERT statements cause a whole index to lock (there is no TABLOCK hint).
I would like to know witch is the best practices to make a .rdl file multilenguaje, that is, that the same .rdl file shows the text €œAmount€? on a label when the user is English or the text €œCantidad€? when the user is Spanish.
There are not something like the resource files in the in a VS.NET web application????
I am new to SSIS, and have been struggling recently with SSIS development. I would like to find out if there are some good books out there on SSIS besides, the online resources, and BOL. Possibly a good book or tutorials. Thanks.

Hello all, I've been asked to build a .net web application, where users will be able to upload, search and view images. There will probably be about 2000 - 10000 users who will upload and view photos each day. Each image that is uploaded, is saved as a thumbnail, a small image, and the original. So considering the possible amount of data being uploaded, stored, searched for and viewed, whats the best way to store the images? Database or File system? Whats would be the fastest option for a web application? Should I even be looking at a different solution? cheers! Matty
company is developing a database system containing information about cities, towns, and villages in the country. The number of cities, towns, and villages are in thousands and the database program should allow users to search a particular place by name. Users should also be able to search all places that match a particular value or range of values for attributes such as location or population size. This particular feature is known as a range query.
If the database is meant to support range queries that can return many cities that match the query specification, the entire operation may be allowed to take longer. To meet this requirement, it will be necessary to support operations that process range queries efficiently by processing all cities in the range as a batch, rather than as a series of operations on individual cities.Different indexing methods can be used to perform this operation. What will be your choice if:
a) database is created once and has no change over a period of time
b) database is created once and database is changed over a period of time
I have assignment to do inplace upgrade from sql 2012 to 2014.for user database either i can restore or attach and change compatbility level. I want to use RAID 1 for System database with sQL Server 2005 64 bit.
Not including TEMPDB.
Is there any point(s) or fact that i should be aware of before I decide on space requirements for system databases(not including TEMPDB). and what should be recommended space keeping in mind the future growth for system databases.
or any factor(s) that can trigger size increase in them.....!
What are some good CASE programming to use in comjuction with SQL 7. What are some good resources for researching. Also, are there any good DB confrences coming up?
I use cursors inside stored procedures, they are generally 20 - 50 records. I have been told that cursors are very resource intensive. Am I setting myself up for scaling problems when we have hundreds of users all running these procedures? The cursors are only used within the context of the stored procedure. Any opinions/insight on this would be appreciated.
I'm attempting to update a table of around 100,000 records with a table of 20,000 records using a cursor since the update is based on a row by row criteria. When doing this I'm getting an error
--Resource is low some results are dropped--
I then cut down the table with 20,000 to a table of 5,000 and still get the same error. I've also tried to use a fast_forward cursor but still no luck Can any-one help. I know there is a way to do this using a quick update statement but I need to know this for other insert statements anyway. Help Help
