Conversion Failed Because The Data Value Overflowed The Specified Type

Apr 29, 2008

Hi All,

I am facing very weird issue...

When i am running package thru SQL server job and getting follwing error:

SIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Invalid character value for cast specification". An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Invalid character value for cast specification".
There was an error with input column "Billing_date" (2568) on input "OLE DB Destination Input" (979). The column status returned was: "Conversion failed because the data value overflowed the specified type.".
SSIS Error Code DTS_E_INDUCEDTRANSFORMFAILUREONERROR. The "input "OLE DB Destination Input" (979)" failed because error code 0xC020907A occurred, and the error row disposition on "input "OLE DB Destination Input" (979)" specifies failure on error. An error occurred on the specified object of the specified component. There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure.
SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PROCESSINPUTFAILED. The ProcessInput method on component "billing_table" (966) failed with error code 0xC0209029. The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running. There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure.
SSIS Error Code DTS_E_THREADFAILED. Thread "WorkThread0" has exited with error code 0xC0209029.

In the package, i am selecting data from SQL Server database into query(billing_table) and inserting data using destination task into SQL server table(stg_billing_table). Both table has same data type datetime for Billing_date.

Here are couple of points:

1) When i am trying to execute same insert statement thru SQL Server editor, it is running successfully.

INSERT INTO stg_billing_table (Billing_date)
SELECT Billing_date FROM stg_billing_table;

2) When I am running package from Solution explorer then also it works fine.

Issue only comes when i try to run package thru SQL server job. one point, There are lot of other task running parallel to this package when we run thru JOB.

One more thing which i have observed that when i tried to see input transformation datatype for same column in package, it is DT_DATABASETIMESTAMP. Well i am not able to understand that it may be potential issue because if it is related to DT_DATABASETIMESTAMP to date time conversion then we should have faced this issue while running thru solution IDE.

Issue looks related to database level buffer/ Memory overflow etc. to me. Can somebody help me understanding the issue?

Thanks.

Conversion Failed Because The Data Value Overflowed The Specified Type

Nov 9, 2007

Hi all,

I have a problem while transforming data from an Access DB to an SQL 2005 DB.

Context:

- Migration of packages from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005
- DB SQL 2005 is a back up from SQL 2000
- The access DB is the same than the one used with SQL 2000

Error:

[OLE DB Source [1]] Error: There was an error with output column "ID" (32) on output "OLE DB Source Output" (11). The column status returned was: "Conversion failed because the data value overflowed the specified type.".

Previous tests executed:

2. Error redirection to flat file for ID column : here are the first records

3. Execute the transformation on the SQL2000 server, for the same Access DB, to the initial SQL 2000 DB : OK, no error.

Questions:

- Do you have an idea of what differs between SQL2000 and SQL2005 in this kind of situation?
- Why is this working for 2000 and not 2005?
- Why the error message says "output column "ID" (32) on output "OLE DB Source Output" (11). ". Shouldn't it be something like "output column "ID" (32) on input "ID" (11). " (with the second ID column for the SQL DB).
- May be the error comes from my connections parameters, one parameter which doesn't exists in SQL2000?

Thanks,

Romain

What's This Error? (Maximum Number Of Unique SQL Exceeded)

Nov 1, 2007

My team at work has spent the past week troubleshooting performance issues experienced by users of our asp.net 2.x web application. We've got a probe running on one of the web servers that has identified a frequently occuring error that no one has seen before and I can't find anywhere online. MSSQL error "system.data.oledb.oledbcommand.executenonquery(Maximum number of unique SQL exceeded) Has anyone here ever seen this error before? The web server, application, SQL servers and databases all seem to be configured properly, but users are experiencing latency and this frequently occurring error is a mystery to us.

Error: Exceeded Maximum Number Of Bytes Per Row

Jan 23, 2008

Hello, I received an error while attempting to create a table similar to the following...

CREATE TABLE ExampleTable (
[FIELD_0] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
[FIELD_1] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_2] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_3] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_4] [datetime] NULL,
[FIELD_5] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_6] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_7] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_8] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_9] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_10] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_11] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_12] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_13] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_14] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_15] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_16] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_17] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_18] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_19] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_20] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_21] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_22] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_23] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_24] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_25] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_26] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_27] [nvarchar](255) NULL
)

First of all, field names have been changed to protect the innocent. Second, I did *not* create this table...I'm troubleshooting issues with a previously created table. I've no idea why almost every field needs to be an NVARCHAR data type of that size. Finally, as you can probably guess, I'm getting this error on a SQL Server 2000 database. (Yeah, it's past time we upgraded to SQL Server 2005 at least...explain that to management, please. I suggest you speak slowly and use small words.)

Anyhow, the error is "Warning: The table 'ExampleTable' has been created but its maximum row size (13348) exceeds the maximum number of bytes per row (8060). INSERT or UPDATE of a row in this table will fail if the resulting row length exceeds 8060 bytes."

Am I misunderstanding how the row size is calculated? How is SQL Server getting 13,348 bytes from the above statement?

Any and all constructive suggestions/ideas are much appreciated! Thanks!

Maximum Number Of Pending SQLServerAgent Notifications Has Been Exceeded.

I have a SQL2000 enterprise edition with sp3 clustered.

I am creating backup jobs via t-sql for around 680 databases. From MMC sqlAgent jobs, found all jobs (every DB has 7 jobs(M-Sun) are created. If I right click the job and choose "start", then the job Next Run Date will be the corrent datetime. But when I rerun the t-sql to recreate jobs for these 20%, I get the

Is there a way to around it?

Reporting Services :: Error On Deploying SSRS Map Report - Maximum Request Length Exceeded

Jul 19, 2015

I am trying to deploy a shape file map of the world with 100 random data points from my dataset but get this error: "exception running the extensions specified in the config file. ---> Maximum request length exceeded". I can preview this fine in SSDT. I have read various solutions which involve editing the config file but I don't have permissions to get to these files. Is there any way to amend the maximum length either through SSMS or SSDT? If not how can I make my map size small enough to deploy? It is a very simple shape file with no colours etc and I am passing random 100 data points to it from my dataset.

Convert Nvarchar Values To Integer

Mar 13, 2007

I have imported a text file with various data into sql table. all these values have been imported as nvarchar. I need to convert these into Integer. the format of the values is 10length i.e. 0000000.00.
example of data:
0001028.99 - needs to be shown as 1028.99
222.00 - needs to be shown as 222.00
0000190.89 - needs to be shown as 190.89
2708.99 - needs to be shown as 2708.99
00000-50.99 - needs to be shown as -50.99
-109.79 - needs to be shown as -109.70

as you can see some of the values have leading zeros and some don't.
i have tried converting from nvarchar to int and i get the error cannot convert nvarchar to int, i believe it may be because the data contains negative values as well as positive values.

Is there a split function or position function which i can use to extract the data? or any other methods which i can use would be really helpful.

Thanks

I'm running into this error message when passing in a few records in particular to a function, the only difference I could find is that these recods have about 60k characters on the field that I'm passing to a function.

is there a max lenght for passing to a function?

select function ( field) as results

It's been working fine until today and all of the related fields are declared as nvarchar(max)

Thank you.

Conversion From Varchar To Nvarchar

Aug 4, 2006

Hi,

Can someone please explain to me how the datapages in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 works. The pages are supposed to be 8K, that is 8192 bytes of which only 8060 are accessible for data storage (due to overhead).
Now, I currently have a table containing 8 fields. Two of these fields are varchar and should be converted to nvarchar. One of the varchar fields is limited to 255 characters and the other to 4000 characters. When I convert the 255 characters field to nvarchar it works just fine, but when I want to convert the 4000 characters field I get an error from MS SQL saying that it gets to big. Is the error only for the 4000 characters field (which growths to 8000 bytes when using nvarchar instead of varchar) or must the whole table fit into one datapage?
Could a blob maybe solve my problem, or will I face new problems when storing unicode characters in a blob?

Thanks in advance

SQL2K Help! SQL Union Query And Varchar / Integer Conversion Problems =(

Aug 8, 2007

Hi, I need help.  Understatement of the year right now, too =
So... I've created a stored procedure that partially pulls a SQL union query to give me a complete one-line result set of a bunch of data... four separate selects comprise the query.
The tables are structured identically to each other, but the values being pulled are specific and distinct.  All of the non-date values stored are varchar values in the tables, and yet when I execute the SQL union query, I get the error message:  Syntax error converting the varchar value to a column of data type int.
I know SQL does implicit conversions, however Im not sure why it's trying to do that with this query, I suppose.  it should have been straightforward.
Any suggestions?  Here is the query logic to look at, in case I'm missing the obvious

exec('
SELECT ACCOUNT, LNAME, FNAME, SEX, DOB, cast(MA_ContentValue as decimal) as MA_ContentValue, cast(MA_DOS as smalldatetime) as MA_DOS,cast(LDL_ContentValue as decimal) as LDL_ContentValue, cast(LDL_DOS as smalldatetime) as LDL_DOS, cast(HgbA1C_ContentValue as decimal)as HgbA1C_ContentValue, HgbA1C_DOS, cast(Creatinine_ContentValue as decimal) as Creatinine_ContentValue, Creatinine_DOS
FROM ( SELECT     Account, Lname, FName, Sex, DOB,MA_ContentValue, MA_DOS,   0 as LDL_ContentValue, 0 as LDL_DOS,   0 as HgbA1C_ContentValue, 0 as HgbA1C_DOS,   0 as Creatinine_ContentValue, 0 as Creatinine_DOS FROM         dbo.vwDiabetic_MicroalbuminTop3  UNION  SELECT     Account, Lname, FName, Sex, DOB, 0 as MA_ContentValue, 0 as MA_DOS,   LDL_ContentValue, LDL_DOS,   0 as HgbA1C_ContentValue, 0 as HgbA1C_DOS,   0 as Creatinine_ContentValue, 0 as Creatinine_DOS FROM         dbo.vwDiabetic_LDLTop3  UNION  SELECT     Account, Lname, FName, Sex, DOB, 0 as MA_ContentValue, 0 as MA_DOS,   0 as LDL_ContentValue, 0 as LDL_DOS,   HgbA1C_ContentValue, HgbA1C_DOS,   0 as Creatinine_ContentValue, 0 as Creatinine_DOS FROM         dbo.vwDiabetic_HgbA1CTop3  UNION
 SELECT     Account, Lname, FName, Sex, DOB, 0 as MA_ContentValue, 0 as MA_DOS,   0 as LDL_ContentValue, 0 as LDL_DOS,   0 as HgbA1C_ContentValue, 0 as HgbA1C_DOS,   Creatinine_ContentValue, Creatinine_DOS FROM         dbo.vwDiabetic_CreatinineTop3) tbl1

')
Anything else that I can provide for someone to help me? I appreciate any/all feedback!

Conversion Failed When Converting The Nvarchar...

Mar 11, 2008

One of my clients decided to put letters into their customers' account numbers. They have a numbering scheme where all temporary accounts have a letter in the account OR are numbered greater than 33000, and all permanent accounts are all digits and less than or equal to 33000. all primary accounts have a NumberSuffix of 000.

Now i am tasked with retrieving all primary, non-temp accounts. I cannot simply do WHERE Number <= 33000 because when it gets to an account containing a letter like "00A01", it craps out and says "Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '00A01' to data type int."

So decided to run a filtering query first to filter out all accounts with letters, and then from that dataset select all accounts <=33000.

WITH members (FirstName, LastName, Number, NumberSuffix) AS
(
SELECT
dbo.Entity.FirstName,
dbo.Entity.LastName,
dbo.Entity.Number,
dbo.Entity.NumberSuffix
FROM
dbo.Entity
WHERE
NumberSuffix = 000 AND
Number NOT LIKE '%A%' AND
Number NOT LIKE '%B%' AND
Number NOT LIKE '%C%' AND
Number NOT LIKE '%D%' AND
Number NOT LIKE '%E%' AND
Number NOT LIKE '%F%' AND
Number NOT LIKE '%G%' AND
Number NOT LIKE '%H%' AND
Number NOT LIKE '%I%' AND
Number NOT LIKE '%J%'
)
SELECT *
FROM
members
WHERE
Number <= 33000
ORDER BY
Number
when i do this, i get the same error for some reason. Yet when i execute this at the end instead:
SELECT *
FROM
members
WHERE
Number LIKE '%A%'
ORDER BY
Number
i get an empty set (meaning it actually does get filtered).
but somehow it still able to participate in a range comparison?

WHY??

thanks,
Leon

Conversion Failed When Converting The Nvarchar Value

Declare @Params as Varchar(3000);
Set @SQL = N'SELECT * FROM [scholarship] WHERE [sectionID] = ' + @schoolID;
Set @Params = N'@scholarship VARCHAR(250),@major VARCHAR(250),@requirement VARCHAR(250)'

If @debug = 1
PRINT @SQL
Exec sp_executesql @SQL, @Params, @scholarship, @major, @requirement
END

And I kept getting this error:

Msg 245, Level 16, State 1, Procedure Search, Line 28

Any help is much appreciated.
