Hi i'm developing a website for my final year project with ASP.net and SQL Server 2005 databse. The problem i'm facing since last week is that, i'm unable to use "Select" query to fetch the data from my SQL Server database. i've used the following code to INSERT the database which is successfull.SqlDataSource sample= new SqlDataSource(); sample.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectionStringName"].ToString();sample.InsertCommandType = SqlDataSourceCommandType.Text; sample.InsertCommand = "INSERT INTO Table_Name(Fields) VALUES (@Fields)"; sample.InsertParameters.Add("Fields", FieldsTxtBox.Text);
It successfully updates my database fields. I've tried many codes that i've found over the internet but none worked. can anyone please tell me how to use SELECT query in the fashion as the above one? I shall be very thankfull for the help. Regards, Jigzy
I have three tables EmpIDs,EmpRoles and LatestRoles. I need to write a select Query to get roles of all employees present in EmpIDs table by referring EmpRoles and LatestRoles.
Where I stuck : The condition is first look into table EmpRoles and if it has more than one entry for a particular Employee ID than only need to get the Role from LatestRoles other wise consider the role from EmpRoles .
Employee ID 2 is having two roles defined in EmpRoles so for EmpID 2 need to fetch Role from LatestRoles table and for remaining ID's need to fetch from EmpRoles .
My Final Output of select query should be like below.
I would like to make a listbox only appear if there are results returned by the SQL select statement. I want this to be assessed on a click event of a button before the listbox is rendered.I obviously use the ".visible" property, but how do I assess the returned records is zero before it is rendered?
I have a table T (a1, ..., an, time, id). I need to select those rows that have different id (GROUP BY id), and from each "id group" the row that has the latest field 'time'. Something like SELECT a1, ..., an, time, id ORDER BY time DESC GROUP BY id. This is the wrong syntax and I don't know how to handle this.
Hi,I feel stupid for posting this question but I cannot find out how to create an SQL statement to return records that have been added today. My database table has a field called calldate which hold the date and time of the record added to the database i.e. "02/08/2005 16:55:41".Please can someone let me know how I can search to find all records added today. I thought it would be something like it, but I assume I need to format the calldate so it's just 02/08/2005.Select *From TableWhere CallDate = GetDate()ThanksBrett
i run a sql command like this select * from table_name what i want is that if no. of records found are greater then 500 than it should stop the query and only show those 500 records dont go further and stop the process waiting for reply ashish bhatnagar
Hi Friends, I have created the procedure in sql server 2005 for retriving email addresses from table based on date_expiry and concatinating all email addresses in to @tolist as shown below Declare @tolist varchar(8000) set @tolist = ''SELECT @tolist = @tolist + ';' + COALESCE(email, '') FROM awc_register WHERE DATEDIFF(day, date_expiry, GETDATE())='3'print @tolist set @tolist = substring(@tolist, 2, len(@tolist)) and I passed this @tolist to another procedure which should send mails for email addresses present in @tolist variable. Problem is I need to send the mail to each email address separatley.( not bulkly)
Hello. I'm having troubles with a query that (should) return all therecords between two dates. The date field is a datetime type. The db isSQL Server 2000. When I try thisSELECT RESERVES.RES_ID, PAYMENTS_RECEIVED.PYR_ID,PAYMENTS_RECEIVED.PYR_VALUE, PAYMENTS_RECEIVED.PYR_DATE,CUSTOMERS.CUS_NAMEFROM RESERVES LEFT OUTER JOINPAYMENTS_RECEIVED ON RESERVES.RES_ID =PAYMENTS_RECEIVED.RES_ID LEFT OUTER JOINCUSTOMERS ON RESERVES.CUS_ID = CUSTOMERS.CUS_IDWHERE (PAYMENTS_RECEIVED.PYR_DATE >= '2006-03-20 00:00:00') AND(PAYMENTS_RECEIVED.PYR_DATE < '2006-03-27 00:00:00')on a "query builder" in visual studio, I get the results that I want. But when I use exactly the same query on an asp 3 vbscript script, Iget no results (an empty selection).I've done everything imaginable. I wrote the date as iso, ansi, britishformat using convert(,103) (that's how users will enter the dates),i've used cast('20060327' as datetime), etc. But I can't still get itto work. Other querys from the asp pages work ok. Any ideas?thanks a lot in advance
Can Somebody please show me how to acheive this, using the order details in Northwinddatabase or any other good example. as much details as possible. Many Thanks!

See below example .....how should i write the query which will give me the desired output. i.e., get min(effdate) and max(termdate) if termdate is one day less than the effdate of next record.
I have a select statement running within stored procedure as below. What I need to do is format the results of the select into one string by concatanting the below, and removing any null fields by using ISNULL. I am struggling with syntax. Can anyone advise? Should I be using a function? is so any sample syntax or pointers would be great..thanks marco
SELECT address1, address2, address3, address4, address5 FROM customer
I have two related tables in my SQL database that I wish to join as follows:------------------------------------tblCustomersID (pk)Nameetc.tblCustomerManagersID (pk)CustomerID (fk)Manager (this *is* an fk but for the purposes of demonstration isnot)StartDate (indicates the date upon which the manager took / is takingcontrol of the company)------------------------------------Example entries are:tblCustomers1 Microsoft2 Symantec3 BorlandtblCustomerManagers1 1 Barry 01/01/032 1 Peter 01/07/033 2 Norman 01/02/034 3 Terry 01/01/035 3 Peter 01/07/05------------------------------------What I want to do is extract, in one query, a list of all customers andtheir *current* associated manager, so the result set today would be:Microsoft Peter 01/07/03Symantec Norman 01/02/03Borland Terry 01/01/03Currently I have:SELECT [Name], [Manager], [StartDate]FROM tblCustomersINNER JOIN tblCustomerManagers ON tblCustomerManagers.[CustomerID] =tblCustomers.[ID]WHERE [StartDate] <= GETDATE()ORDER BY [Name], [StartDate] DESCbut this obviously returns multiple entries for customers having managersprior to today eg:....Microsoft Peter 01/07/03Microsoft Barry 01/01/03....I know this is a simple question but I cannot think of a way of doing itwithout making the query extremely complicated.Any help is appreciated,Thanks,df

AA Guyz i want to calculate class position of students from a table.Sample data is as follows...Roll # - Name - Marks1 - ABC - 602 - DEF - 603 - GHI - 574 - JKL - 555 -MNO - 506 -PQR - 53The query should return the following result.Roll # - Name - Marks - POSITION1 - ABC - 60 - 12 - DEF - 60 - 13 - GHI - 57 - 34 - JKL - 55 - 45 -MNO - 50 - 56 -PQR - 53 - 6I want query in MS SQL Server 2000
For example if I have a winform with a textbox and search button. If I type in ABCD1234. I won't know what the data is coming into the X Table. So there will be hundreds of description data in the description field in X table.
So in the X Table, there are ABCD1234,ABCD_1234,ABCD/1234,ABCD 1234
But I will only pick this 'ABCD1234' record up, and the rest won't be picked. They are variations of the same description. It needs to pick also ABCD_1234,ABCD/1234,ABCD 1234
If also type in 5678, in another column like code in X Table. It would have 005678,05678,56780. But I will only pick this '5678' record up, and the rest won't be picked. They are variations of the same code. It needs to pick also 005678,05678,56780
I have tried LIKE, FREETEXT and CONTAINS.
But another idea is a table of alternate descriptions for those that you know about and look those up and search for them all. But how can that be done?
I have two tables in my database. I want to insert date and no.of hours worked on that day for a particular project. So in a week if end user enters 7 dates and hrs for each day...... i have to insert those values into the table against one project only. Can any one please help me out how to run insert query for 7 times (in a week) with different parameters
SELECT Top 10 Name, Contact AS DCC, DateAdded AS DateTimeFROM NameTaORDER BY DateAdded DESC I'm trying to right a sql statement for a gridview, I want to see the last ten records added to the to the database. As you know each day someone could add one or two records, how can I write it show the last 10 records entered.
I have a query similar to the following. The intent of this query is to retrieve the top 6 records meeting the specified criteria (LOGTYPENAME = 'Process Status Start' OR LOGTYPENAME = 'Process Status End' ) based on most recent dates. Please keep in mind that I expect to return up to 6 records for each unique LogProcessName. This could be thousands of different LogProcessNames with up to 6 records for each.
1) The table I am executing against currently is very large in size and thus takes a long time to execute against. It would seem there must be a more efficient query to get the results I am looking for? 2) CTE doesn't work on SQL 2000. I need a query that does. 3) I cannot modify the database itself in the process.
;WITH cte AS ( SELECT [LogProcessName], [LogBody], [LogDate], [LogGUID], row_number() OVER(PARTITION BY [LogProcessName] ORDER BY [LogDate] DESC) AS RN FROM [LOGTABLE] WHERE [LogTypeGUID] IN ( SELECT LogTypeGUID FROM LOGTYPE WHERE LogTypeName = 'Process Status Start' OR LogTypeName = 'Process Status End' ) ) SELECT * FROM cte WHERE RN = 1 OR RN = 2 OR RN = 3 OR RN = 4 OR RN = 5 OR RN = 6 ORDER BY [LogProcessName] DESC, [LogDate] DESC
Does anybody else have any idea that would yield the results that I am looking for and take into account items 1-3 above?
I was wondering whether there is a way to show the user an error when the user did not select a specific parameter.
In my case, I have two optional parameters. The user has to select either one to view the report. If the user does not select either one, I would like to show some sort of an error page indicating so. However, all i am getting is a complete blank with no report in sight. I as a developer know this is an error as a result of missing parameters, but i was wondering whether I could produce a page or direct it to a page so that the user doesn't go all horrified at an empty page ?
I have an unusual problem. I am using VB.Net 2003 and sqlexpress using .NET dataset to insert records into an timecards table. After inserting several records I tried a 'Select * from timecards' and the inserted records where not selected. if I 'select * from timecards order by employee' ( or any other field) the inserted records are selected! The table was created by an Access Upsize command.
Not sure if this is possible, but maybe. I have a table that contains a bunch of logs. I'm doing something like SELECT * FROM LOGS. The primary key in this table is LogID. I have another table that contains error messages. Each LogID could have multiple error messages associated with it. To get the error messages. When I perform my first select query listed above, I would like one of the columns to be populated with ALL the error messages for that particular LogID (SELECT * FROM ERRORS WHERE LogID = MyLogID). Any thoughts as to how I could accomplish such a daring feat?
