Transact SQL :: Replace Multiple Values Without Looping
Jul 13, 2015
I need one query:
create table #task(TaskId bigint unique, Name varchar(2000))
insert into #task values(1, 'Text Text Text Text Text Text Text <<Name>> Text Text Text <<Salary>>')
insert into #task values(2, 'Text Text Text <<Name>> Text Text Text Text <<Company>> Text Text Text <<Salary>> Text Text Text')
[Code] ....
Now I need to create an inline function who resolve the task name with appropriate values and return me the resolved task name
select * from fn_TaskResolver(1, 'Text Text Text Text Text Text Text <<Name>> Text Text Text <<Salary>>')
I try this function but its return multiple rows as i just want to return one row. as I have big data set so i don't want to use scaler or Multi Line function.
create function fn_TaskResolver(@TaskId bigint, @name varchar(2000)
Return table

I am doing some administrative tasks and need to collect some principals information from multiple instances and user databases.
I have table "dbo.instances" with list of instances. I have databases from "sys.databases".
How can I execute the query to get principals information from "sys.database_principals" on each remote instance and database. I know that can use cursor, but not sure how to do this with multiple servers and databases.
Running into a problem with trying to pull multiple values in a stored procedure. Ran Profiler for trace on what variable is coming back as when running in Reporting Services. Profiler shows this:
Trying to run Replace function but not quite getting the syntaxt correct. The stored procedure will work but when running report will often get unclosed quotation marks. What I have:
For example we've got a row from [Formula_Calc] table 'F1+F3' as a string that needs to be transformed as 240+160=400
The below code works for the above example but if I pick 'F11+F3' instead , returns 2561 which comes from 2401+16. Probably replaces F1 value instead of F11 and adds 1st digit (1) if I got it right ...
DECLARE @formula NVARCHAR(100); DECLARE @Total NVARCHAR(100); SET @formula = 'F11+F3';
SELECT @formula = REPLACE(@formula,RowNo,Total) FROM [Totals]
how we can replace the multiple values in a single select statement? I have to build the output based on values stored in a table. Please see below the sample input and expected output.
Select ID, FIRST(forename), FIRST(surname) from table1 GROUP BY ID;
I know First doesn't work in TSQL, I used to use it in Access and now need to run something like that in TSQL. Simply getting unique ID with first forename and surname, cause there are some dupes in a table.
There are records like:
ID forename surname -------------------------------- 1 John Kormack 1 James Dope 2 Erin Dupes 3 Will Hugh 3 Walter Heisenberg
So how to use these three values in the where condition when i use the where clause i have put in condition it will give me the subquery returns more than one value,so how should i use this scenario to accomplish this output?
In a t-sql 2012, I want to declare variables with multiple values and I am having problems since sql server thinks I am working with numbers when I am really working with character and bit values. Here is a copy of the sql that I am trying to use:
DECLARE @Account varchar(100) DECLARE @Processed bit set @Account = '58100,98326,09897' set @Processed ='0,1'
Thus would you show me what I can do so that the sql server knows that I want the values in the set states above to be varchar or character value for @Account and bit value for @Processed?
ALTER PROC [dbo].[sp_GetInvitationStatusTest] ( @invited_by NVARCHAR (50) ) AS BEGIN -- SELECT * FROM dbo.Merck_Acronym_Invitations WHERE invited_by=@invited_by select distinct t1.invited_isid as 'ISID', t1.invited_name as 'NAME',t1.invitation_status as 'STATUS',
[Code] ....
If you look at the where clause i have invited by , i get the desired output if i just provide 1 name in the execution such as exec [dbo].[sp_GetInvitationStatusTest] 'marfilj' But my requirement is to make the procedure work with more than one input variable such as exec [dbo].[sp_GetInvitationStatusTest] 'marfilj','sujith' now i should get the output for 2 people but if i run this i receive the following error Procedure or function sp_GetInvitationStatusTest has too many arguments specified.
how to make my procedure work with more than 1 input variable?
In a table I have some rows with flag A & B for a scode, some scode with only A and some are only B flags.
I would like to fetch all rows with flag A when both flags are present, no rows with B should be fetched. Fetch all rows when only single flags are present for a scode. How to achieve this using TSQL code.
Below is the stored procedure i have it works fine if i have 1 value passed to @invited_by but i want to modify but i want this code to be working for multiple inputs .Lets say if i do
exec [dbo].[sp_GetInvitationStatusTest] 'Test1 . I get the desired output but i want this procedure to work for exec [dbo].[sp_GetInvitationStatusTest] 'Test1,Test2'. USE [merck_acronyms] GO
SELECT ID1, ID2, type, (case when type = '1' then sum(value) else '0' end) as Value1, (case when type = '3' then sum(value) else '0' end) as Value2, (case when type <> '1' and type <> '3' then sum(value) else '0' end) as Value3 FROM table1 WHERE ID1 = 'x' and ID2= 'y' GROUP BY ID1, ID2, Type
I am writing a query and have the bulk of it already written.
I am looking at a table that contains customer orders. There is a column named Customer_Order.Status Available values for this column is R, F, H, and C.
I'd like for my query to return all lines that have the value R, F, H.
My where clause is written like this
WHERE CUSTOMER_ORDER.SITE_ID = 'XXX' AND CUSTOMER_ORDER.STATUS = ('R','H','F')
I need to replace all the "User Friendly Names" with "System Names" in the calculations, i.e., I need "Sales Units" to be replaced with "cSalesUnits", "AUR" replaced with "cAUR", "Comp Sales Units" with "cCompSalesUnits", and "Comp AUR" with "cCompAUR". (It isn't always as easy as removing spaces and added 'c' to the beginning of the string...)
I have created a CTE of all the "Look-up" values, and have tried all kinds of joins, and other functions to achieve this, but so far nothing has quite worked.
How can I accomplish this?
Here is some SQL for set up. There are over 500 formulas that need updating with over 400 different "look up" possibilities, so hard coding something isn't really an option.
declare @currentDate datetime,@enddate datetime; select @currentDate = '06/1/2015'; select @enddate='06/05/2015' while @currentDate <= @enddate begin
-- do whatever is needed
select @currentDate = dateadd(DAY,1,@currentDate); select @currentDate as currentdate end
In result am not getting the current date. am getting date from 06/02/2015.i want to get records from 06/1/2015 to 06/05/2015. total 5 records..but now i am getting only 4 records.
I have a table (temp_Order) wherein I use to insert a temporary order... after inserting the temporary order, when the buyer submits the order,I want to loop through the table and fetch the orders made by the buyer and insert those products on another table (Order)...how can I achieve this? im currently using sqlDataSource...
I want to loop through rows and append values to a declared variable. The example below returns nothing from Print @output, it's as if my @output variable is being reset on every iteration.
declare @i int,@output varchar(max) set @i = 1 while @i < 10 begin set @output = @output + convert(varchar(max),@i) + ',' print @output set @i = @i +1 end
I'm trying import 7 tables from each of 30 SQL2005 databases into a SQL2005 Consolidation database. I can simply create data flow tasks for each one but instead I would like loop through a list instead.
I've created a table to house the names of the databases from which I want to import the data. I've created SQL task to return the database names from the table as a "Full Result Set". I've assigned the result set to a user variable (type = Object) an named the result name 0
What I'd like to do is create a data flow task which connects to each of the databases and imports 7 specified tables from each database appending the table name with my database name in the result set.
I'm stuck on how I'd set the connection strings in my OLE DB Source in my Data Flow task. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
I'm trying to create a report that will be data-driven and produce multiple reports based on a parameter. For example, 5 reports go out today based on invoice numbers from yesterday. Each invoice can have multiple trasnsaction lines and each line contains the invoice number. What I have so far is only taking the first invoice number (let's say it has 10 transactions) and sending me the same report 10 times and stopping.
I get nothing for the remaining 4 invoices/reports. Here is what I have. To me this should enter the distinct invoice no's from yesterday into #temp, while a invoice no exiists begin query with one invoice selected from #temp then delete that invoice no and select another one and repeat till no more invoice no's. But it's only going through the one invoice no.
select distinct InvoiceNo into #temp from table where Invoicedate between getdate()-1 and getdate() declare @InvoiceNo VARCHAR(25)
I need to separate the data from one column in to two columns based on the transaction type TRAN_TYPE (C is credit, D is Debit)
TRAN-TYPE| AMOUNT C 20.00 D 30.00 C 50.00
To do that I have this code:
select CASE WHEN TRAN_TYPE = 'D'THEN CAST (ISNULL(amount, 0) as varchar (30)) end as DEBIT, CASE WHEN TRAN_TYPE = 'c'THEN CAST (ISNULL(amount, 0) as varchar (30)) end as CREDIT FROM HISTORY
I'm cleaning up a column in my table and getting rid of special characters. The only think I can't get rid of with the REPLACE function is single quotes.I'm doing aUPDATE TableSET Column = REPLACE(Column,'''','') --that's four single quotes then two single quotesBut the single quotes in my column wouldn't go away.I know that
