Transact SQL :: Getting Distinct Row With Min Date From Other Table?

Sep 18, 2015

Have the following 2 tables:

create table #LiabilityConstraint
(
PolNum varchar(10),
LcCode varchar(10),
LcDsc varchar(100),
LcAmt decimal(18,2),
LcFreq varchar(10),
LcSetId int

[code]....

there is a many to many relation between the tables.  Each Policy can have 1 or many Liability Constraints.  Each Liability Constraint can be attached to 1 or many policies.

What I need to do is get the distinct combination of LcCode, LcDesc, LcAmt, LcFreq and LcSetId from the Liability table as well as the earliest PolInceptionDt from any of the policies associated with the Liability Constraint using only the distinct combination of LcCode, LcDesc, LcAmt, and LcFreq.

Give the data above, I would need to end up with the following result:

I tried to use the Row_Number functionand join using PolNum, but I keep getting the wrong results back.

Transact SQL :: Inserting Distinct Data From One Table To Another

Aug 19, 2015

I have 2 tables: Source Table - IncidentDimNew and Destination Table - IncidentDimNew with identical columns: Id and CreatedDate but the data is different.

I would like to insert distinct data from those 2 columns of 1st table into the same 2 columns into the 2nd table but I onlt want to replace the values in the 2nd table where the Created Date is > 2015-04

I compiled the code in order to get the information I want from 2 tables:

Source Table
SELECT
COUNT(Id),
LEFT(CONVERT(VARCHAR(10)), CreatedDate, 126), 7)
FROM
IncidentDimNew

[Code] ...

This is the code I wrote in order to do it

INSERT INTO IncidentDim
[Id]
      ,[CreatedDate]
     SELECT
[Id]
,[CreatedDate]

FROM
IncidentDimNew

where left(CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), CreatedDate, 126),7) > '2015-04'

GO

But what it does it's gives the SUM of the values in the corresponding rows where the values are not null which I don't want.

So  how do I leave the values as is from table IncidentDim and insert new values as it is from IncidentDimNew where the Created Date is > 2015-04?

Transact SQL :: Retrieve Currently Created Date From Master Table To Load Into Parent And Child Table

May 12, 2015

In Master tabel i have these date datas

2015-05-10

2015-05-11

2015-05-12

SO when i try to load from  Master table to parent and child table i am using using expresssion like

select B.ID,A.* FROM FLATFILE_INVENTORY AS A JOIN DMS_INVENTORY AS B ON
A.ACDealerID=B.DMSDEALERID AND A.StockNumber=B.STOCKNUMBER AND
A.InventoryDate=B.INVENTORYDATE AND A.VehicleVIN=B.VEHICLEVIN
WHERE convert(date,A.[FtpDate]) = convert(date,GETDATE())  and convert(date,B.Ftpdate) = convert(date,getdate()) ;

If i use this Expression i am getting the current system date data's only  from Master table to parent and child tables.

My Problem is If i do this in my local sserver using the above Expression if i loaded today date and if need to load yesterday date i can change my system date to yesterday date and i can run this Expression.so that yeserday date data alone will get loaded from Master to parent and  child tables.

If i run this expression to remote server  i cannot change the system date in server.

while using this Expression for current date its loads perfectly but when i try to load yesterday data it takes current date date only not the yesterday date data.

What is the Expression on which ever  date i am trying load in  the master table  same date need to loaded in Parent and child table without changing the system Date.

Note: ROW is Partition By ColumnA,ColumnB

Transact SQL :: Calc Work Date Using Business Days Field In Calendar Table

Assuming Sats & Suns are all non-work days in April 2014, if my @WorkDays = 10 for 10 work days and my @DateFromValue - 4/1/2014, I would expect my return date to be 4/15/2014.

Transact SQL :: First DISTINCT Value In A Result Set

How can I take my result set and just choose the first DISTINCT value in the result set? Here's an example of the result set:

Name                   Rank           Year      CompanyID           City

Bill's Fish                 22          2015         779             Sunrise

but the results come back with ALL the records of the source table (509 rows) when there should have only been 29 rows returned (the appropriate number of families or unique groups).  The index is necessary to have Lightswitch use the view as a data source.what I'm doing wrong here?

Transact SQL :: Strategy To Translate Column Data Into Distinct Rows

Aug 27, 2015

I am writing a query where I am identifying different scenarios where data changes between one week and the next. I've set up my result set in the following manner:

PrimaryID       SKUChange              DateChange         LocationIdChange        StateChange
10003             TRUE                       FALSE                  TRUE                          FALSE
etc...

The output I'd like to see would be like this:

PrimaryID        Field Changed          Previous Value      New Value
10003             SKUName                 SKU12345           SKU56789
10003             LocationId                 Den123               NYC987
etc...

The key here being that in the initial resultset ID 10003 is represented by one row but indicates two changes, and in the final output those two changes are being represented by two distinct rows. Obviously, I will bring in the previous and new values from a source.

OT: SQL Server Distinct Date Question

Nov 28, 2000

I am working with a VIEW inside of SQL Server. I want
to SELECT DISTINCT just the date from a date/time
field. (MM/DD/YYYY). And then I want to be able to
use BETWEEN to requery the resulting data from that
view. So to get rid of the time, I am using the
Convert function (I'll be glad to do it a different way if anyone knows one):

SELECT DISTINCT Order_id, CONVERT(char(10),
Customer_Order_table.date_order_placed, 101) AS
order_date

From MyTable

The trouble is that when I go to requery the data from
a second query, my between statement doesn't seem to
work properly and I don't get any records returned.
It's almost like the resulting data isn't being
considered a date or something like that. Does anyone
have any suggestions on this?

Thanks,

Eron

SELECT DISTINCT DATE With Different Time

Oct 21, 2005

Hi! Good Day!

What is the correct SELECT query if i want to count the distinct date from my table.

Example:
Table1
DateField
10/11/2005 5:14:48 PM
10/11/2005 5:24:48 PM
10/10/2005 5:14:30 PM
10/13/2005 5:15:02 PM

My query is something like this.
SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT DateField) FROM Table1

The result should be 3 and not 4
because there are 2 records with the same date, only different time.

Thanks :)
