The View paaplic has 100 records and I have to do the below for all 1000 records individually.
I have to update the field TP_Total in the TOWNLAND_GEOREFERENCE_POLYGON table depending on what is in the fields in the tables.
I am writing the below code but am unsure if this is going to achieve what I want.

Need Help Updating One Field In Every Table

i need to run this command
update <tablenamehere> set value = Replace(value, 'GeoLynxAO_Henrico', 'GeoLynx')
on every tabe in the database
is there a simple way to do this while pulling the table names out of information_schema.tables?
i have searched using google and been unable to find anything so far. the db server is running sql server express 2005 and i'm doing this from sql server management studio express
i really don't want to have to type the update statement by hand for 90+ tables................

Sep 24, 2015I have a transaction table having about 40 crore rows in source. It don't have timestamp and unique key columns. It have only Bill_month and Bill_Year columns. Actually for loading this table into staging I have added a new datetime column by adding default bill_date as 01. Then
* First we delete last 3 month data from staging tables.
* Get last 3 months data from source table.
* Load that 3 months data from source to staging table.
We do this because we only get update for last three months data. Now I have to include this transaction table as Fact table in DW. What will be the best practice for loading the fact table by picking data form staging table. Also we have to look up with dimensions for Foreign Keys.
* Should I implement the same method of deleting last 3 months records and loading them again.
Selecting Field From Second Table If Same Field In First Table Is Null

Hi,
I have one table (PermProportionalCosting) that contains employeecode, costcentre and proportionpercentage. An employee may have two or more records in this table, indicating that their salary has been split across multiple costcentres.
Another table (Employee) contains a default costcentre for each employee.
Another table (TransActualHistoricalMaster) contains the hours paid to each employee for each pay period.
My query so far selects all employees and the total hours worked from the TransMaster table, and then selects the costcentre and proportionpercentage from the PermProportionalCosting table. Multiple lines are created for all employees in the PermProportionalCosting table, with each line indicating the proportionpercentage and associated costcentre.
This is my query so far:

In the above query, there is a null value for each employee that doesn't have a record in the PermanentProportionalCosting table, so I would like my query to replace the null value with the costcentre from the Employee table.
Any assistance would really be appreciated.

(Below are the three tables along with their fields)
1) tblEmailAddress Table
a) EmailAddress
b) Emailid (each EmailAddress has this corresponding Emailid)
2) tblEmailGroupLink Table
a) Emailid
b) Unsubscribed
3) Remove_List Table
a) EmailAddress
What I'd like to accomplish is...
A) To compare the EmailAddress field of all the records in the Remove_list Table to the EmailAddress field of all the records in the tblEmailAddress Table and if there is a match, get the Emailid field value.
B) Go to the tblEmailGroupLink Table and lookup the Emailid and change the value of the Unsubscribed field to 'True' for that record.
I'd appreciate any help I can get.

Mar 3, 2006I have to update a table in my sql database with data exported (csv, txt or xls) from another source. The source data and my table have a matching unique field. The source data may contain records I already have and need to updated with any changed data in the source file or new records that need to be inserted into my sql table.
I am using SQLExpress, SSMSE, ASP.NET 2.0, and VWD Express. I am relatively new to this environment. Can anyone suggest a solution or where I can find a solution?
I could do this when I was building apps in Access.

Hopefully I am posting this question in the correct forum. I am still learning about SQL 2005. Here is my issue. I have an access db that I archive weekly into and SQL server table. I have used the dst wizard to create an import job and initally that worked fine. field I have as the primary key in the access db cannot be the primary key in the sql table since I archive weekly and that primary key field will be imported several time over. I overcame this initally by not having a primary key in the sql table. This table is strictly for reference. However, now I need to setup a unique field for each of the records in the sql table. What I have done so far is create a recordID field in the sql table that is an int and set as yes to Identify (auotnumber). That worked great and created unique id for all existing records. The problem now is on the import. When I try to import the access table i am getting an error because of the extra field in the sql table, and the error is saying cannot import null value into this field. So... my final question is how can I import the access table into the sql table with one extra field which is the autonumber unique field? Thanks a bunch for any asistance.

This puts some values including a pdf or .doc file into a table, tblDocTable.
Is it possible to change this so that I can get the values from a table rather than as parameters. The Query would be in the form of: insert into tblDocTable (a, b, c, d) select a,b,c,d from tblimportExport.
tblImportExport has the path for the document (DocPath) so I would subsitute that field, ie. DocPath, for the @fPath variable.
Otherwise I can see only doing a Fetch next from tblIportExport where I would put every field into a variable and then run this exec query on these. Thus looping thru every row in tblImportExport.
Any ideas how to do this?

Nullable Field As Fact-dim Link Causes Errors
Feb 26, 2008I have a dimension with a date field (int key value actually) that is generally null that I'm using to link to a time dimension. Everything works great when I set Null Processing to UnknownMember in the Measure Group Bindings, but if I try to set it to Preserve or anything else, I get processing errors because it can't match the null attribute key to the time dimension. I think I understand this, but I'm concerned that I'm not doing it the best way. Also, why does this page say "UnknownMember causes a data integrity error at processing time" when that's the only setting that does not give me errors?

Trying To Return A Single Record For Each Client From Child Table Based Upon A Field Of Date Type In Child Table
Nov 1, 2007I have table "Clients" who have associated records in table "Mailings"
I want to populate a gridview using a single query that grabs all the info I need so that I may utilize the gridview's built in sorting.
I'm trying to return records containing the next upcoming mailing for each client.
The closest I can get is below:
I'm using GROUP BY because it allows me to return a single record for each client and the MIN part allows me to return the associated record in the mailings table for each client that contains the next upcoming 'send_date'

The user_id set at 1000 part is what makes it rightly pull in all clients for a particular user. Problem is, by using the GROUP BY statement I'm just getting the lowest 'mailing_id' number and NOT the actual entry associated with mailing item I want to return. Same goes for the last_name field. Perhaps I need to have a subquery within my WHERE clause?Or am I barking up the wrong tree entirely..

The Link table contains the records showing which Member is in which Group. One particular Member can be in
multiple Groups and also a particular Group may have multiple Members.
The Member table contains the Member's ID, Member's Name, and a Group ID field (that will contains comma-separated
Groups ID, showing in which Groups the particular Member is in).
We have the Link table ready, and the Member table' with first two fields is also ready. What we have to do now is to
fill the GroupID field of the Member table, from the Link Table.
For instance,
Read all the GroupID field from the Link table against a MemberID, make a comma-separated string of the GroupID,
then update the GroupID field of the corresponding Member in the Member table.
Please help me with a sql query or procedures that will do this job. I am using SQL SERVER 2000.

Power Pivot :: Measure Results Limited By Fact Table Dates Instead Of Date Table
Sep 17, 2015I cannot create a measure that returns results for dates that do not exist in the fact table despite the fact that the components included in the measure contain valid results for these same dates.Creature a measure that counts the number of days where the "stock qty" is below the "avg monthly sales qty for the last 12 months" (rolling measure).Here is the DAX code I have tried for the measure (note that filter explicitly refers to the date table (called Calendar) and not the fact table):

Below you can see the sub measures (circled in red) are giving results for all days in the calendar.Highlighted in yellow are dates for which the StkOutCnt measure is not returning a result. Having investigated these blank dates, I am pretty confident that they are dates for which there are no transactions in the fact table (weekends, public holidays etc...).why I am getting an "inner join" with my fact table dates despite the fact that this is not requested anywhere in the dax code and that the two sub measures are behaving normally?
Analysis :: Hierarchy Based On Dimension Table Joined Multiple Times Against A Fact Table?
Aug 11, 2015I am working on a model where I have a sales fact table. Each fact record has four different customer fields (ship- to, sold-to, payer, and bill-to customer). I have one customer dimension table that joins to the sales fact table four times (once for each of the customer fields above). When viewing the data in Excel, I would like to have four hierarchies (ship -to, sold-to, payer, and bill-to customer) within Customer.
Is there a way to build hierarchies within my Customer dimension based on the same Customer table? What I want is to view the data in Excel and see the Customer dimension. Within Customer, I want four hierarchies.

May 6, 2015We need to Insert/Update a Fact Table from staging Table. currently we are using a SP which update Fact Table for Each region. this process is schedule, every 5 min job is run and Update fact table.but time of Insert and Update too long from staging to Fact, currently we are using merge statement for Insert and update.in my sp we are looping number how many region we need to update and at a time single Region we are updating using while loop in current SP.
