I would like to create a table which can store a VLOB or BLOB.. which are pictures and images.. How do I insert them into the database and how do I select them into the data base for playing in a media player
I really do not have a background on this.. much.. I just know how to connect to a database and insert texts.. and updating and stuffs...

I have a scenario where I want the current User to add details regarding their house in to my 'Property' table in my database and also store their uploaded picture in the same tabe when they press the 'Add Property' button. I also want to store the current Users ID in the 'Property' table so the property being added is assigned to the current user. Can anyone help me with the implementation of this? I´m exporting an ms-excel file, then I use a lookup transformation to get a field from a SQL Server 2005 table. The Lookup transformation editor, after selecting the table, shows a warning that says:
at least one mapping between a column from available input columns ans a column from available lookup columns must be defined on the columns page.
So I try to make a relationship in the Lookup transformation editor's column tab where I find the Available input columns and the available lookup columns but I get the following error:
The following columns cannot be mapped:
[Department, DEP_CLEGALCODE]
One or more columns do not have supported data types, or their data types do not match.
The field in SLQ Server is varchar(10) and the input field is a derived column transformation; I have tried different Data Types but I always have the same error.
The DataFlow is: ExcelSource --> Derived Column --> Lookup --> Flat file destination

View 2 Replies View RelatedI trust you'll bear with an SQL Server newbie with what may seem a rather inane request. I am designing a web app in Web Designer 2005 Express with SQL Server Express. Unfortunately, I'm finding a little confusing with some of the data types when designing tables. I have tried to find information on the various Microsoft sites (general site, MSDN, here) and while I found one document that had a table comparing data types in different implementations of SQL, it wasn't at all helpful. Most of my confusion is with the various string and char types; the numeric types seem pretty straight forward for the most part. However, it might be helpful to know the difference between money and smallmoney/datetime and smalldatetime, particularly space/size information and formatting options (unless the latter is up to the interface). It would also be helpful to know which string/char types correspond to any counterparts they might have in, for instance, Access (with which I am already quite exprienced). Or any particular quirks or idiosyncracies they might have. I don't expect anyone to write a full tutorial, but if someone could point me in the direction of a good online doc, it would be most appreciated. You might well ask, why not use Access databases? I would answer...I like to learn new stuff!

I created a Product database table using Visual Basic 2005 Express and SQL Server 2005 Express. I have just added a new column [Picture] with IMAGE datatype to the database table, which of course, should store an image or picture of a product. I am writing to kindly ask you guys for help.
i) How do I store a picture or image for each record of this column [Picture] of database table? I have tried and all that I can see is < binary data > in the picture column, and when I start the VB 2005 Express form is a blank picture box!
ii) How do I get this image to display on Visual Basic 2005 Express form, so that when a product is selected the product image is displayed too? All text data appears but not the picture!

When I try to add a sql database by right-clicking on App_Data and selecting add new item and then sql database, I get the following message 'Connections to SQL Server Files (*.mdf) require SQL Server Express 2005 to function properly. I am working with a legacy SQL server database from SQL Server 2000. I noticed that in some places that they use decimal data types, that I would normally think they should be using integer data types. Why is this does anyone know?

I want to write a VB 6.0 program, and already connected to MS SQL 2000 Database by MS SQL ODBC connection. Now I want to Export this MS SQL data to FoxPro 2.6 DBF. I found ROWSET option, but don't know how to use it for FoxPro.

However I need to do a left join with time log where the date and employee ids are the same, and I have summed the durations for each date. The following query does this, but does not include dates and times where nothing has been logged.
SELECT empID, log_date, sum(duration)
FROM time_log
GROUP BY empEIN, log_date
GIVING, EVENTUALLY, ALL DATES AND EMPIDS AND THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF TIME THEY HAVE LOGGED FOR EACH DAY."
