Why My Access Database Synchronizer Can Pull But Cannot Push ?

Jul 24, 2007

In ADS Wizard's Log, it shows me "Pushing data to Access database"

but the Access database in my Desktop PC does not receive the data "pushed" from the "Device".

In the reverse direction, If I "Pull" data from Desktop PC's Access Database, it works.

Why? Any suggestion?

I already repeat this many times but the result are the same.

I did not turn on Windows firewall and Kaspersky internet security at all.

Thank you

Microsoft Access Database Synchronizer (ADS) RTW

Feb 20, 2007

Hi,

Today we are very pleased to announce the RTW release of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition Access Database Synchronizer (ADS) for which many of you been waiting eagerly.

Access Database Synchronizer provides a way to synchronize data between Microsoft Access database on a desktop and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition database on a device.

The salient features of this solution are summarized below
Ø Provides a synchronization solution between SQL Mobile/SSCE and MS Access. Data conversion is done while synchronizing the data.
Ø Synchronization happens when there is an active ActiveSync connection between the device and the desktop.
Ø There is no update to SQL Mobile/SSCE on the device. The solution consists of only of desktop side component which works with the existing client agent on the device.
Ø The solution is based on existing RDA replication model. Programming model is exactly the same as RDA today.
Ø Device applications written today do not need to be updated if the solution is upsized from access to SQL Server.
Ø There is no conflict detection/resolution.

The setup installs the desktop component required for synchronizing Microsoft Access database with SQL Server Compact Edition database on the device. It also includes a readme file which has the documentation for the solution and a sample application. The readme file can be downloaded separately. The sample application shows how the solution works and how to write applications for this solution. The components installed on the desktop can be used by third party applications to provide data synchronization between Microsoft Access database on the desktop and SQL Server Compact/SQL Mobile database on the device.

On a desktop, the following operating systems will be supported:
Ø Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2
Ø Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2
Ø Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 with Windows XP MCE 2005 Update Rollup 2installed.
Ø Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition SP2
Ø Microsoft Windows Vista (Only Windows Mobile 6.0 devices are supported)

On devices, the following operating systems will be supported:
Ø Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition
Ø Windows CE 4.2
Ø Windows CE 5.0
Ø Windows Mobile 5.0
Ø Windows Mobile 6.0

The following versions of Microsoft Access will be supported:
Ø Microsoft Access 2000 SP3 (Microsoft Office 2000)
Ø Microsoft Access 2002 SP3 (Microsoft Office 2002)
Ø Microsoft Office Access 2003 SP2 (Microsoft Office 2003)
Ø Microsoft Office Access 2007

This solution will work with all installations for SQL Server Mobile Edition/SQL Server Compact Edition on devices. The sample application provided is supported only on Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC edition.

Access Database Synchronizer For SQL Express

Sep 4, 2006

Hi

Can anyone from MS please confirm if we can tweak

the Sychronizer to hook into SQL Express rather than Access

Access is not a database for the real developer and its beyond me

and many in this forum why we are limiting the ability of developers to use SQL Express

Using Access is not only tacky but limits the performance of a serious system

and therefore the piblicity we can generate for MS

I look forward to peoples thoughts on this

Cant Get Access Database Synchronizer Set Up On Client Machine

Apr 17, 2007

I have created a PPC application that uses ADS to synchronize my sqlce db with a desktop MS Access database. It works fine on my computers, but my client cant get it to work on his. Here is the situation.

His "Computer Name" as it's stated in his 'My Computer' properties is "PAVSGP024FE.NWFSC.NOAA.GOV"

However his Access.MDW File is located in the directory "C:Documents and SettingsJoe NobodyApplication DataMicrosoftAccessSystem.MDW".

There is no directory called "C:Documents and SettingsPAVSGP024FE.NWFSC.NOAA.GOVApplication DataMicrosoftAccessSystem.MDW".

His current config.xml file looks like this.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<SystemNode>
<AccessDB>C:Program FilesNOAA Release LoggerNOAA_ReleaseLogger.mdb</AccessDB>
<DeviceDB>Program FilesNOAA Release LoggerNOAA_ReleaseLogger.sdf</DeviceDB>
<Login>Joe Nobody</Login>
<URL>http://Joe Nobody:1024/</URL>
<WinDir>C:</WinDir>
</SystemNode>

He has tried adding port 1024 as an exception for his firewall settings, has installed Access Database Synchronizer on his computer, and I have also tried using the "long" computer name as the url setting in the config file. (i.e. <URL>http://PAVSGP024FE.NWFSC.NOAA.GOV:1024/</URL> but this throws the error

"The HTTP request failed due to incorrect format or content. Try restarting the IIS server.[]"

I dont know what else to try! Anybody have any suggestions?

Pull Or Push For Me?

Jul 22, 2001

I'm trying to replicate two very big databases with about 10 million
of 4000 characters each. The publisher is SQL 2000, subscriber
is SQL 7.0

The subscriber will also perform full text searches.

I'm trying to decide wheter I should use PULL or PUSH.
The publisher is operating on a very low quality/speed internet
connection, where the subscriber is enjoying a T1.

Help, anyone?

Thanks,

Pull Down From One Table And Push Up Into Another....

Jun 1, 2004

Hi All,

I have a problem,

I need to copy a large amount of data from one table and insert it into another table.

The design of the destination table is exactly the same as the source table except for the fact that it has one extra field.
Can I copy; in a single SQL statement; all rows in one table (that match given criteria) into another table allowing for the extra field?

Push And Pull Subscription?

Sep 20, 2005

As I understand replication in Sql2K the only difference in push or pull subscriptions is where the agent runs. If I wanted changes in the publisher to be sent to the subscribers immediately after the change then I thought push would be better. But, if I am equally interested in changes made at the subscriber then what should I use? Or does the agent monitor both the publisher and subscriber at the same time?

Question: About RDA Push And Pull

Nov 9, 2006

When we sync data using RDA, the logic should be as follows:

1. Create RDA, set isTracked=false

2. if (isTracked) then RDA.Push(<tablename>..);

3.Delete local table

4.RDA.Pull(<Tablename>)

5. Alter <tablename> Alter column <>

6 Set isTracked = True

My question is how can we know the value of isTracked? or we have to separate RDA.Pull and RDA.Push,

Can we just put them together in one function. But how do we know this table isTracked on?

Anyone knows?

Push And Pull Subscription From Publisher/Distributor?

May 30, 2001

Hi All,

Can push and pull subscriptions be configured on the publisher/distributer server?

We have server A running SQL Server 2000 configured as Publisher/Distributor and also a Push subscription (transactional replication) to Server B configured as Subscriber.

The idea was to have Server B as backup server if Server A goes down. Users will continue to update data in server B till server A is up.

Once server A is up, I want to synchronise the up-to-minuit date from Server B to Server A in the form of Transactional replication configured as "Pull Subscription" from Server A.

Is that possible?

Thanks

Complex Push/Pull Merge Replication Question...

Mar 8, 2007

Hiya,

Our current application which uses SQL 2000/CE uses a single Merge publication to populate numerous "read only" tables on the mobile device, and create the schema for a "transactions" table, which will be filled by the mobile device during work, then merged at sync.

Now, the master "transactions" table at the publisher has millions of rows, and the mobile device does not need any of them... so currently we have it "filtering" by a always false clause, so that none of the data is pushed to the client.

The problem with this is that we cannot archive any of the records in the transaction table, as doing so (say, removing 200k rows) would result in the mobile devices (of which there are about 15,000 active in the field) to attempt to reconcile each of those 200k rows when it is next synced, which takes way too long.

Now, what we would like to do is upgrade to SQL 2005/CE 2005, if the new features will allow us a PULL ONLY table in some way? I cannot find how to do this via the wizard, but am sure I am missing something. At least I hope so.

Can anyone give a suggestion?

Thanks!

give me publication_type=0. So it is transactional replication but how do we know that is pull or push?

I also need help to install the synchronizer onto the mobile device (windows mobile 5). The readme file seems to imply there is another setup file after te .msi file was executed.

I can't find the setup file. Am I missing something?

Nightly Database Push

May 20, 2008

I have a production database that I would like to have copied over to a backup database on a separate server every evening. I don't want to mirror, I just want the databases synced up every evening.

The servers are physically attached through a gigabit switch and the database is relatively small, so I don't think that speed will be an issue.

Could someone point me to an article about the best way to accomplish this?

Thanks.

RDA Pull Problem: Command=PULL Hr=80040E4D Login Failed For User 'test'

Apr 25, 2007

Hi all,

I have following problem:

I'm developing a Windows Mobile application, which is using RDA Pull for retrieving data from SQL Server 2005 database to PDA. Please, see the example:

Code Snippet

using (SqlCeEngine engine = new SqlCeEngine(connStr))

{

engine.CreateDatabase();

}

serverConnStr="Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=.;User ID=sa;Initial Catalog=Demo;Password=xxx";

using (SqlCeRemoteDataAccess rda = new SqlCeRemoteDataAccess(

Configuration.Default.SyncServerAddress, "", "", connStr))

{

rda.Pull("MyTable", "SELECT * FROM mytable", serverConnStr, RdaTrackOption.TrackingOffWithIndexes, "ErrorTable");

}

Everythink works fine, when I use 'sa' user account in serverConnStr.

But, when I change conn string to:

"Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=.;User ID=test;Initial Catalog=Demo;Password=test"

the sqlcesa30.dll cannot connect to SQL Server database.

In the sqlcesa30.log then I found following line:

Code Snippet

2007/04/17 10:43:31 Thread=1EE30 RSCB=16 Command=PULL Hr=80040E4D Login failed for user 'test'. 18456

The user 'test' is member of db_owner, db_datareader and public roles for the Demo database and in SQL Server Management Studio I'm able to login to the Demo database with using the 'test' users credentials and I'm able to run the select command on 'mytable'.

So, what's wrong? Why the sqlcesa30.dll process cannot login to the Demo database, and from another application with using the SAME connection string it works?

Please help.

Thank you.

Fipil.

RDA Push Error Another User Has Opened The Database With Different Instance-level Initialization Properties. [ 32 ]

Mar 3, 2008

Hi all,

I'm using VS2005 + SQL Compact 3.1 and Enterprise Library 3.1 May 2007

I can successfully create a db using pull method, when I try to push back data I got the following SQLCE error:

"Another user has opened the database with different instance-level initialization properties. [ 32 ]"

Before calling the push method I did

SqlCeDatabase eCE = Helper.GetDB() as SqlCeDatabase;
eCE.CloseSharedConnection();
SqlCeConnectionPool.CloseSharedConnections();
SqlCeRemoteDataAccess rda = new SqlCeRemoteDataAccess();
rda.InternetUrl = webSynchronizationUrl;
rda.InternetLogin = webuser;
rda.InternetPassword = webpass;
rda.LocalConnectionString = eCE.ConnectionStringWithoutCredentials;

but after the assignment the LocalConnectionString is different from ConnectionStringWithoutCredentials, there are much more ssce parameters.

What I don't understand is:

why I'm getting this error even after closing the connection ?

Since the error report [32] the ssce conflicting parameters shoud be AUTO_SHRINK_THRESHOLD, FLUSH_INTERVAL and MAX_DATABASE_SIZE

I tried to cut & paste the same values from LocalConnectionString into app.config connection string, at first It seemed to work, but now I got the same error.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Transact SQL :: Pull Dates From Database And Then Compare

Jun 10, 2015

I need to pull dates from a DB2 database via TSQL (Linked server - IBM DB2 for i IBMDASQL OLE DB Provider) and compare it to today for a less than or greater than type comparison.

Database: DB2, Customer information housed here
Columns:
UTOFMM - Month (2 character, numeric)
UTOFDD - Day (2 character, numeric)
UTOFYY - Year (2 character, numeric. Problem: years from 2000 to 2009 are stored as 0, 1, 2, ... etc)
UTOFCV - Century Value (2 char, numeric.  0 = before 2000, 1 = in or after 2000)

I need to concatenate the date to be "sql" friendly, and then compare to today's date.  It's to find any customer with date values in the fields above, and then differentiate between dates before today and after today.Here is the snippet of what I'm trying to fix.  This portion of a nightly job is just checking for <u>any</u> value in the UTOFMM column of the current record.

Add Customer ID
Update [responder].[Temp_RX_CUSTOMERS]
set CustomerID = lf.UTCSID
from [responder].[Temp_RX_CUSTOMERS] LEFT Outer Join
[HTEDTA].[THOR].[HTEDTA].UT210AP lf ON [responder].[Temp_RX_CUSTOMERS].LocationID = lf.UTLCID
where lf.UTOFMM = 0
