Call FireQueryCancel() In A Script Component Within Data Flow Task?
Dec 18, 2007I am trying to cleanly shutdown a dataflow task, which contains a script component, when RunningPackage.Stop() is called from the SSIS runtime.
I've been going in ever decreasing circles with no success - it looks like the cleanest way to find out whether RunningPackage.Stop() has been called is to call FireQueryCancel(). But I can't find any reference to anything useful in a dataflow task script component that gives me something that implements IDTSComponentEvents. The nearest thing seems to be Me.ComponentMetaData which gives a reference to IDTSComponentMetaData90, but this only has methods for calling FireError, FireInformation, FireProgress, FireWarning, and FireCustomEvent. But no FireQueryCancel.
Is there a way in a script component that I can find out the state of QueryCancel?
Any help would be apprecieated.
How Do I Call A Insert Stored Procedure From A Data Flow Destination Object?
Jun 26, 2007I want to insert data calling a stored procedure and call this from a Data Flow destination object. Is it possible?
I understand that Ole Db Command transformation object can call stored procedure, but that will not rollback in the event of error in the middle.
I understand that Ole Db Destination object will rollback in middle of import, but I don't see how to do the insert by calling stored procedure. "Sql Command" option in Ole Db Destination object does not seem to present solution to the problem.
Am I missing something here or is Ssis / Microsoft demanding that Insert stored procedure not be used when using Data Flow destination object to insert data into target table?
User-defined Function In Data Flow
May 11, 2006I want to use a scalar user-defined function (udf) in a data flow with an OLE DB Source and an OLE DB Destination. The udf parameters are 2 columns from the source and the udf result is mapped to a destination column.
I've tried using an OLE DB Command component but I'm not getting very far. This statement works in Management Studio:
SELECT dbo.objectIDFromSourceKey('person','-128283')
I was expecting to just substitute ? for each of the function values 'person','-128283' but SSIS doesn't like the syntax (apparently it needs a FROM clause). Am I on the right track here or...?
Can I Apply A Database Function Or Assembly Call In An Expression For Filter Data?
Mar 28, 2007I need to translate a user€™s regional setting into one of our own language codes before I send it through as a filter to the model query. If our language codes were the same, the filter would look like this in the report filter -
Language Code = GetUserCulture()
Which translates to this in the database query (for us english) -
table.language_code = 'EN-us'
And of course I need it to look like this -
table.language_code = 'ENG'
I would like the logic to be globally available to all report writers (ie not forcing each report writer to have an iif or case stataement). I was thinking custom assemblies or maybe a database function, but at this level of the filter, I cannot seem to figure out how to embed a database function call to apply to the filter criteria like this
Language Code = dbo.ConvertFcnIWrote(GetUserCulture())
Or how I would access the custom assembly in the filter expression.
Do you have a recommended implementation for this situation?

THe problem is the OLE DB source Edit doesn€™t have anything for mapping parameter.

HELP: How Do I Pass Variables From Control Flow To Data Flow
Mar 9, 2007I have an Execute SQL Task that returns a Full Rowset from a SQL Server table and assigns it to a variable objRecs. I connect that to a foreach container with an ADO enumerator using objRecs variable and Rows in first table mode. I defined variables and mapped them to the columns.
I tested this by placing a Script task inside the foreach container and displaying the variables in a messagebox.
Now, for each row, I want to write a record to an MS Access table and then update a column back in the original SQL Server table where I retreived data in the Execute SQL task (i have the primary key). If I drop a Data Flow Task inside my foreach container, how do I pass the variables as input to an OLE DB Destination on the Data Flow?
Also, how would I update the original source table where source.id = objRects.id?
Thank you for your assistance. I have spent the day trying to figure this out (and thought it would be simple), but I am just not getting SSIS. Sorry if this has been covered.

Is There A Way To Set A Variable In A Data Flow From A SQL Statement (like In Control Flow)
Jan 12, 2006I'm currently setting variables at the package level with an ExecuteSQL task. This works fine. However, I'm now starting to think about restartability midway through a package. It would be nice to have the variable(s) needed in a data flow set within the data flow so that I only have to restart that task.
Is there a way to do that using an SQL statement as the source of the value in a data flow?
OR, when using checkpoints will it save variable settings so that they are available when the package is restarted? This would make my issue a moot point.

Lookup Task Data Flow Transformation Causes Data Flow Task To Hang?

I'm trying to implement an incremental data pull (Oracle to SQL) based on Andy's blog:

My development machine is decent: 1.86 GHz, Intel core 2 CPU, 3 GB of RAM.
However it seems the data flow task gets hung whenever I test the package against the ~6 million row source, as can be seen from these screenshots. I have no memory limitations on the lookup transformation. After the rows have been cached nothing happens. Memory for the dtsdebug process hovers around 1.8 GB and it uses 1-6 percent of CPU resources continuously. I am not using fast load to insert new records into my sql target table. (I am right clicking Sequence Container 3 and executing this container NOT the entire package in the screenshots)

The same package works fine against a similar test table with 150k rows.

The weird thing is it only takes 24 minutes for a full refresh of the entire source table from Oracle to the SQL target table.
Any hints,advice would be appreciated.
Need Help Understanding A Call To A Sql Function
Feb 25, 2008Can someone help me to understand a stored procedure I am learning about? At line 12 below, the code is calling a function named"ttg_sfGroupsByPartyId" I ran the function manually and it returns several rows/records from the query. So I am wondering? does a call to the function return a temporary table? And if so, is the temporary table named PartyId? If so, the logic seems strange to me because earlier they are using the name PartyId as a variable name that is passed in.

Call Custom SQL Function In ASP.NET
May 9, 2006I made an SQL function in MSSQL2000. This is a function that get's a calculated heat emission. When I run the Query in MSSQL2000 the function works. It calculates every emission for every row. When I call this SQL function in VS2005, it says it does not recognize the function. Does anyone know what this may cause? thank you. I'll admit that I'm not the greatest at stored procedure/functions but I want to learn as much as possible. So I have two questions:
1) I had VS2005 autogenerate a sqldatasource that created Select/Insert/Update stored procedures. When Updating a record and calling the stored procedure, I want to query another table (we'll call it tblBatchNo) that has only one record, Batchno. I want to put that current batchno into the Update statement and update the record with the current batchno. Can someone point me in the right direction? Remember that I'm still a beginner on this subject.
2) Can someone provide any links to online tutorials on t-sql?

I've written asp.net code to read from a sql server 2005 db and send out customized emails based on user info.Currently the process gets rolling by clicking a button in a web page.The client doesn't want to click a button, they want to run the email sender on a timer.How can I set up my function to run on a timer either in asp.net or more likely called from sql server?

Trying To Call The Function A Web Service From Transact-SQL

Have Custom code that fixes Divide by Zero Errors in SSRS. I have added the code to the Custom Code area in Report Properties correctly.
I have a Dataset that has a calculation for a column within a select statement
Query Pseudocode:

How To use:
If you have a field that does division and you need to eliminate the divide by zero error that occurs with SSRS then type =code.SafeDiv(first,second) in the field.
